One day I noticed my kidneys were hurting ran to the dr, they figured out that four months ago I had a bladder infection but the forgot to call me and let know big mistake! Anyhow it had progressed into kidney infection. They prescribed antibiotics , and I started drinking 1/4 tsp baking soda in half glass of water every other hour... and the pain was disapperaing! Plus a taking hot bath in 1 capful each of Eucalyptus and Sandlewood oil helped a lot too.

I want to start taking baking soda to help with my kidneys, but I also have high blood pressure. So anything high in salt is a no go. So can I take salt reduced or eliminated baking soda and get the same results?

Be careful with too much baking soda! I couldn’t remember if I was supposed to take 1 tsp or TBLS - took the tablespoon with water before bed and experienced what my Apple Watch and googling appears to be AFib. My heartbeat was irregular for about 4 hours in the middle of the night. I also have HBP. Since then, I’ve been afraid to to the 1 tsp in water….do not want to experience that again.

Hi Pam W,

One tablespoon of baking soda taken in a glass of water will give most people diarrhea. I have seen a half tablespoon cause diarrhea in some people.
