Hi Steve,
I use 20 Mule Team Borax available in most market laundry aisles. I never noticed the increase in energy, but that is a known effect of borax so morning dosing is suggested because it can interfere with sleep in some people. For me, I use the dose that Ted recommended for men of a quarter teaspoon in a quart of water, each day, sipped throughout the day for 5 days on and 2 days off. I tried the women's dose of 1/8th teaspoon, but it was not as effective for me as the quarter teaspoon.
Are you taking this for arthritis? It took roughly a month for me to see noticeable improvement and around three months to become pain free. I have severe psoriatic arthritis and it has kept me virtually pain free for over 18 years now!
Not everyone can tolerate borax, but the majority of people can. It is not a cure, but for me it has been life changing and it is easily the least expensive supplement I take.

yes I originally took it for arthritis. TBH I think I’m super sensative to its effects as now I take one to three little sips in a liter bottle that’s been diluted with a pinch of borax and I can feel that tremendously. Have you tried any other brands besides 20 mule? So you are saying it took several weeks to notice a difference with arthritic pain? I’m wondering why I feel an energetic effect so much when most people don’t? I don’t understand that.

Hi again, Steve,
If you have a boron deficiency, that could be a potential reason why because boron can improve the following :
- Magnesium utilization
- Vitamin D metabolism
- Calcium regulation
- Steroid hormone metabolism
- Cellular membrane function
- Low-grade inflammatory signaling
Because magnesium and vitamin D are involved in ATP production and muscle function, improving their effectiveness could make someone feel noticeably more energetic.
It also lowers certain relevant inflammatory mediators such as TNF, C-reactive protein and IL-6 which can cause fatigue.
Boron also does other things in the body which could potentially contribute to an increased feeling of energy, but these other effects are not well scientifically studied in humans.

ok that makes sense however I’m confused because when I take a boron supplement like a 6 mg boron complex I do not feel anything whatsoever. Why do you think it is that I feel the Borax (sodium borate) only? I mean a tiny pinch in 1 liter of water and taking tiny sips throughout the day (5-6 times) would mean I’m only taking in boron in the microgram level, not even milligrams. That is to say if Borax is approx 11% boron and I’m only using a tiny pinch diluted in 1 liter of water. Could Sodium Borate / Borax contain some other element or chemical from the industrialized process of mining it from the earth? I was looking to see if I could see anything on 20 mules website. Anyone else have this energetic experience with Borax please chime in I can’t be the only one.

Hi again, Steve,
If the tiny amount of borax is keeping you up at night, that is not good and you should probably only use a sip or two first thing in the morning when you want to boost your energy level during the day. Unfortunately that will not likely supply enough boron to help with the arthritis.
So you can give consideration to a boron based supplement, but 6 mg of a boron based supplement offered me zero relief for my arthritis so I would have had to take a higher dose of a boron based supplement, so I just went with borax which changed my life.
