If you are like me, you have been crawling and scraping the internet like a bot searching for the remedy(ies) to cure your blocked Eustachian tubes.

A little bit about me: I had a blocked ear for 4 months. It varied in pressure, muffled hearing and pain based on where I was in medical treatments. I saw 5 different doctors, all of whom were only willing to prescribe me commercial medications such as antibiotics, steroids, mucus softeners, etc. I tried everything, but I found that none of the conventional approaches worked and often left me feeling worse. Now, I am not anti-doctor, nor anti-pharmaceutical. I think there is a lot of value in those industries, however, I do not believe they are always the correct option for certain health issues.

This lead me on my journey of trying out different natural remedies to see if those could help me better than conventional medication could. I tried Eustachian tube dysfunction exercises on youtube everyday for a month, in the event mine was caused by mucus blockage. I tried oil-pulling for 20 mins a day for 2 weeks. I tried eliminating wheat from my diet for a few weeks, and also limited my sugar intake (although, not as well as I could have). Maybe these will work for you, but they didn’t work for me.

I was at my wits end after dealing with this for almost 4 months. The constant ear pressure and muffled hearing was driving me up a wall. However, at this point I was convinced my Eustachian tube dysfunction was caused by inflammation, and not thick mucus.

I read somewhere online that fish oil was apparently very good against inflammation. As someone who does not eat meat or fish, I was skeptical, but desperate to try anything. I started off by taking 3600mg spread out between 3 meals (1200mg pill per meal), and within just a few days, the pressure in my ear decreased significantly, and I almost had my full hearing back. By the 2nd week, my ear even started to pop a little when I swallowed or yawned. I have now been doing this for 1 month, and my tube is back to its old self. I plan to continue my 3600mg dose of fish oil per day for at least 2 or 3 more months to see if I am “cured”, but at least for now I am not dealing with the painful symptoms anymore.

Anyways, I am not a medical professional, nor do I have any qualifications to give any medical advice. I just wanted to share my story to anyone else out there who was suffering as much as I was, and wanted to know an alternative way.

Maybe this helps you, maybe it doesn’t. Your body and my body are not the same. But, if it does help you, then I am happy that I could share this with you. Because let’s be honest….Eustachian tube dysfunction is uncomfortable, unpleasant and frustrating, and sometimes it feels like there is no hope.

So, if you have read this far, I just want you to know, you are not alone. Myself and many others have been there and have felt the way you have felt. It is unpleasant, but something will help you. You just need to keep trying.

Cheers to your ears! ;)
