Flowers of Sulphur and Sore Throat Relief Marian (Roseville, CA-USA) on 12/31/2025
As a small child I was plagued with sore throats. Gargling was recommended but was only very temporary as far as relief. This went on every year after about age ten. My Father [born in Italy] asked my Mom to buy Flowers of Sulpher at the drug store. She did so and when she returned..the relief began! Daddy would take a sheet of white paper and roll it into a long cone, pinch the end to lock any substance within the paper cone. Next he would sift approximately a tablespoon of Flowers of Sulpher powder..[It had the consistency of fine face powder. This was in the 1930's and the product came in a cobalt blue glass bottle, approximately six to eight inches high. Very inexpensive and doctor note requirements. Daddy would then create a paper funnel with a very fine tip. At this time he would carefully deposit a small portion of "Flowers of Sulpher" It was at this precise moment- I was advised to sit in a chair and place my head as far back as possible! He would then snip the tip to create the tiniest of of openings. At that precise moment he would blow through the paper funnel and thoroughly distribute "Flowers of Sulpher" in a fine mist that covered my epiglottis for immediate relief. This became a ritual and a solution for sore throats in our home. Simple, efffective and total solution.
