I am trying to make the Melatonin lotion for my dad, as you have very kindly suggested. Having difficulty getting the pure powdered melatonin in SA but am working on it, is there an interim recipe crushing 5/10 grams melatonin tablets till I can source it?

Hi Mix,
In the 3 ounce mix of melatonin lotion, the 1/4 teaspoon of pure melatonin powder is equivalent to 750 mg of pills or capsules. The downside to this approach is that those capsules or pills have a very significant amount of fillers in them so it is going to be much more than a 1/4 teaspoon of powder. The fillers may not dissolve in the gin and so the mix may feel gritty. You will need enough pills or capsules to equal 750 mg of melatonin.
This was reported to me by another EC member who I think is in Canada, who could not buy bulk melatonin powder and had to use capsules. She did say that it definitely helped her fibromyalgia pain better than her prescription medications and it didn't cause her any side effects. She also said that the lotion felt gritty.
