Boron is a major active component of Borax.

Here is a relevant quote from the link :

The boron content of the Borax may be causing a candida die off. The die off may be causing toxicity itself which is sometimes referred to as a "Herxheimer reaction" and one potential explanation for what you describe as a "loopy feeling".
