Mastic Gum for H. Pylori and Peptic Ulcers
I wanted to share this YouTube video here as it has been really useful in helping me to finally come off Omeprazole permanently.
“How I cured my Acid Reflux and Helicobacter Pylori infection (without antibiotics)” by Rob Ager on Youtube. https://youtu.be/PbRKiH8Jf3M?si=7kVhJGUTLc8Ezmgo
I was diagnosed with hiatus hernia, duodenal ulcers and h. pylori infection a number of years ago and treated with antibiotics and PPIs. Symptoms returned not long after the treatment ended, but test for H Pylori came back negative, so I was encouraged to continue with the PPI, which I reached for to alleviate symptoms. I've been trying to reduce Omeprazole in recent months because of reports linked to nutrient malabsorption, dementia, osteoporosis etc. My symptoms have steadily worsened since then (persistent cough, increasing burning in whole digestive track, and frightening hernia (strangulation) pain in the middle of the night). I tried ACV & baking soda with ceyenne & tumeric in water which helped for a while.
I now believe as Rob Ager says, that the problems won't heal without dealing with the H. Pylori infection first, and that PPIs mask the underlying problem (maybe even providing a conducive environment for h. pylori) as I clearly still have all the symptoms of duodenal ulcers etc. when not taking them! I originally suspected problems with my gall bladder, but it turned out these symptoms are very similar to those created by duodenal ulcers.
I am now several days into taking 4 (250g) Mastika capsules every 8 hours on an empty stomach and (fingers crossed) all the symptoms mentioned have started to ease, so I am determined to continue

H.Pylori cannot be eradicated, only controlled. Besides it protects from some types of cancer. Unfortunately the source for this information is removed from Google. It is not in English, if I find it, I’ll post the link. Controlling H.Pylori is a complex process. It is published on EC site.

Despite H. pylori infection being the primary causative agent for gastric cancer, H. pylori infection can also cause other effects, detrimental or beneficial, throughout an individual’s life, with the beneficial effects often being seen in childhood and the deleterious effects in adulthood. H. pylori is an ancient bacterium and its likelihood of affecting disease or health is dependent on both human and bacterial genetics that have co-evolved over millennia. In this review, we focus on the impact of infection and its genetic bases in different populations and diseases throughout an individual’s lifespan, highlighting the benefits of individualized treatment and argue that universal eradication of H. pylori in its host may cause more harm than good for those infected with H.Pylori.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Yes, controlling h. pylori is a complex process, I've tried a few different ways with various bugs over the years, but this one stumped me, perhaps made more complex by the fact of being a senior.
At the moment this remedy continues to give me so much relief from pretty awful pain and symptoms, disturbed sleep and worry about long term affects of Omeprazole. I really do hope it proves out to be an effective way of controlling these little critters, which in my case are causing all sorts of ghastly problems, including long term foul smell diahorrea. At the moment stoold are relatively sweet smelling!
Rob Ager is an English chap. I've just searched on the title I posted and a link to his YouTube video popped up
