Borax and Magnesium for Osteomyelitis in Jaw

Well its been a year since my first post. I am certain I found my cure. A pinch of borax in my drinks and liquid magnesium spray - I even make my own spray.... I have done this every day but now its on occasion when I think I need to make sure it won't come back. Just a tiny bump on my skin to remind me of this awful infection.

Just curious...You say a pinch of borax in your drinks. How many times a day? And the magnesium spray...Did you put that on your jaw bone or somewhere else? How often? Did you mix it with DMSO? thanks

I spray wherever - usually on my wrist or inside my elbow just so it gets to my blood stream fastest - sometimes my belly button. A pinch of borax - once a day everyday for a year- but I have since then backed off and maybe take a pinch twice a week now and no dmso at all.

How do you make your own magnesium spray. Is there a recipe here on EC?

Hi Catherine,

That original post is 13 years old, so you may not get the answer you are looking for from that poster.

You might try buying an 8 ounce spray bottle of mag oil first, to make sure you tolerate the mag oil well and that it helps you. Save your spray bottle once it is empty, to use for your homemade mag oil. Here is a link to a typical mag oil spray :

If you tolerate the mag oil well and find it helpful then you can start making your own mag oil as it is usually less expensive than buying it ready made.

To make your own mag oil, you will need to by a bag or jar of magnesium chloride flakes which I will link to below. I make mag oil as follows. Add 4 ounces of distilled water to a one cup measuring cup. Now add magnesium flakes to the cup until the water in the cup reaches the 8 ounce line. Pour this whole cup into a jar or other suitable container with a sealable lid and shake until the flakes are completely dissolved. Once the flakes are fully dissolved, pour this mix into the original mag oil spray bottle once it is empty. This is how I make a 50% mag oil mix. Some commercial products are as high as 70%, but in my experience 50% works fine and has less chance of causing skin irritation. Here is a link to a typical jar of magnesium chloride flakes :

This jar will refill your original mag oil spray bottle many times!

One tip that I would offer to further reduce the possibility of skin irritation and make your product last longer, on your second application of the day, try just applying plain water over the area where you made your first mag oil application of the day. This will reactivate the mag oil that dried on the skin before it could be absorbed. This water application will usually offer similar pain relief and lessening of muscle cramping as the first application did. Doing this also reduces the chance for skin irritation as some people are sensitive to mag oil on their skin.

Keep us posted on your progress!
