Zeolite Potentially Helpful for Cat Urinary Crystals

"Zeolite may be helpful in cats with urinary tract crystals. Did extensive research on it, & there is some support for the idea that it is capable of dissolving & preventing re-formation of calcium oxalate crystals. There is some hedging in regards to magnesium struvite crystals being dissolved, as it has likely never been tested. What is helpful here, is that if it dissolves the calcium type, then it is fairly safe to then also include more acidic methods, like cranberry & d-mannose for cats to the diet. Possibly even more protein like chicken, which acidifies. Magnesium type occurs in an alkaline environment. Cranberry is helpful by preventing adhesion of bacteria to the bladder walls, if kept consistently in the diet twice daily as a preventative against UTI's. It was helpful, albeit incredibly expensive, to have a urinalysis done at the emergency vet. My cat has only the magnesium type of crystals, created in an alkaline environment. No stones.

I am using droppers & needleless syringes to push water slowly into the cat's mouth. Also adding good water to wet food. No more dry food. No fish. Using the C/d urinary diet, yet feel it is probably better to do further research. How could bland corn be the best thing for this cat issue? Meat protein is acidic. I'm not afraid of being a bit acidic, as it prevents magnesium crystals, & Zeolite dissolves the calcium crystals. Adding cat friendly probiotics at least makes it tasty enough for the cat to eat it.

What a research project! Yet really important. Following two emergency vet visits totaling nearly $7,000, I knew I had to find what natural methods I could try at home. Who can afford an ongoing, recurring problem at that sort of expense?!!!

"UPDATE: I think that getting a natural method for dealing with urinary tract infections is also of significant help. A cat & dog natural antibiotic elixir. MCT coconut oil. Cover all your bases.

ACV apple cider vinegar seems to be the go~to life~saver in a pinch. I would add a bit of coconut oil. Cod oil.

Water in droppers, several times per day, & water in wet food. No dry food. No kitty treats. And, no clumping kitty litter, no crystal litter. Go natural, like walnut hulls, non~clumping. Whatever makes it cohesive to itself may also be making it cohere to your kitty's peter when he sits on it.

I did try the Pretty Litter for determining if the cat was bleeding, alkaline, acidic, or normal. I would not use it as litter for more than a day, or in a pinch when you need to know. It glows under ultra~violet light, which means forever chemicals.

Water alone does sufficiently help keep these crystals from forming, if feeding good wet food only. It can eventually dissolve them. All of these other things though do increase the chances that things go well for kitty, & the vet visits are kept to a minimum. We're learning a lot here, & doing well. I even tried expressing urine one difficult moment. The bladder felt small & soft. I believe with interstatial cystitis that the pushing & growling is kitty getting into a negative feed~back loop. Forced water & ACV at a 50/50 split or less is very helpful at such times.
