"Kristain, I would start using DMSO on her. It helped and healedy two crushed discs after 6 months of use. Please read the threads here on this site about it. On a cellular level DMSO has been studied and shown to correct DNA back to its intended function. Eg. I haven't had to use DMSO on my discs in 3 yrs, because it healed it; so it was a cure, not a treatment. For your dog I would use no more than 1/8 tsp in 1 litre of water, refrigerate it in a bottle and give her a steady supply. It's what I have always used for dogs anyways. Best of luck to you and your sweetie."Posted By Hollyhock (America ) on 08/10/2023
"Katzie, did you dilute the dmso or use it straight? I have 3 herniated discs. I've used diluted dmso for years, if I use it straight it leaves blisters. But it's never healed my discs. You are very lucky to be out of pain! :)"Posted By Katzie (Cancun, Mexico) on 08/11/2023
"Hi Hollyhock. I always use DMSO straight, however, I always always always use a layer of oil first; for me its Castor Oil. Lemme tell ya, I used it straight on my sore knees two days in a row, and lived to regret it as it is harsh on the skin. I had to kiss-up to that skin for a few days to make up for it, finally healing it back to normal with aveeno. So I have never forgotten since then! Olive oil and coconut have stood in for Castor oil a few times and work also. Ya don't have to slather it on, just a nice thin coating will do. And the amazing thing I noticed about DMSO was that, unlike a pain pill, I never noticed the pain leaving; it would be about 1/2 hr later when I'd be like "oh, the pain is gone". As to my healing time (6 months'ish) is that I had been warned I'd be feeling pain soon by a chiropractor, so when I felt the annoying toothache-like pain in my discs, I started the DMSO right away! Heal quickly, Hollyhock!"Posted By TXmom25 (Dallas, TX) on 11/01/2025
"According to Rex Newnham/Walter Last it’s 1/8 teaspoon of borax per 100 lbs. So to get the proper dose for a 14 lb dog, one might dissolve the 1/8 teaspoon into 1 cup of water and then only add 2 tablespoons of the dilution to the dog’s water. Or just add a pinch once or twice a day if that’s too laborious."
