Lithia Water, Amlactin Lotion for Seb Derm on Face

Karl (New York) on 10/30/2023

I was looking for a solution for eczema / dermatitis on my face, and found research indicating that "lithium salts", when applied topically, could reduce sebum production which feeds the yeasts that can be a part of this condition. I found "Baar Lithia Water", which is a solution of Lithium Chloride. I apply a little to a damp pad made of paper towel, (cotton pad would work too), and swab the effected area after showering, etc. Well, it seems to have helped quite a bit! I had a crusty patch too, and in addition to the lithia water, I applied "Amlactin", which is a Lactic Acid containing lotion, to the spot twice a day. You know what? The thing is gone! Took 1 week. Gone. Wohoo!

I made DMSO with 30% silver water at 25 ppm plus 10 ml of comfrey tincture and some Aloe Vera. It helped, that is, it cured my long-standing seborrhea and oily scalp.

Honey+ for Seb Derm

Seborrheic dermatitis

I found what worked the best for me to relieve pain and itch was raw honey - but this is what I've read works best and has kept me on the mend -

Use ACV to break the fungal biofilm first - you can also use xylitol or colloidal silver topically.

Slather the face in honey for 3 hours per day - can also use another anti fungal.

Don't moisturize with any oil other than MTC oil, mineral or these products:

  • Aloe vera
  • Urea
  • Sorbitol
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Squalane oil

Other oils such as coconut feed the fungus and cause more heat, itch, redness and burning sensation.

Magnesium Oil for Seb Derm

seborrheic dermatitis

Magnesium oil has cured it. I leave it on for about 5 min before rinsing it. I leave it on until it stings and it stings less the more you put it on until eventually it doesn't. But I do it once a week to make sure it doesn't come back just in case.

D3 for Seb Derm - Update

Megs (Cambridge) on 05/30/2019

I previously wrote EC about D3 for seb derm around my nose and in the creases of my mouth.

I wanted to update that YES, it is in fact a cure and not just a temporary fix! As a test I stopped taking the D3 after two steady weeks on it and nothing has reappeared on my face. I was taking between 2,000-6,000 drops of d3 serum a day. Very exciting.

I have had the condition for most of my life! So I guess it took me two weeks to get my vitamin d levels restored and now that I have done that, my body just needs a bit here and there. Hope this helps someone else suffering from this condition.

I struggled for months with SD on my forehead, eyebrows and upper eyelids. My forehead was the worst and I had to exfoliate twice a day to keep the flakes at bay. I tried applying ACV 3 times a day for a week to no avail. Knowing that yeast can't stand oregano oil and that tea tree is a major ingredient in most dandruff shampoo's, I decided to make my own remedy. In a 10ml glass roller bottle I mixed 3 drops of oregano oil and 5 drops of tea tree oil and filled the rest of the bottle with argan oil. Before bed, I rolled the oil on my forehead and rubbed it the area while working it down to my eyebrows and a tiny amount to my upper eyelids (do not get this in your eyes!) I did this for 3 nights and it was completely gone. I decided to do it for 2 more nights just to be sure. I haven't even seen a hint of flakes for 3 months but still have almost a full bottle left just in case.

Borax for Seborrheic Dermatitis

caliguy (los angeles) on 02/16/2021

I dealt with seborrheic dermatitis for about 10 years. It began with flaky scalp and led to a more flushed face, dry skin around nose, larger pores, and red skin or flakes in facial hair and chest hair. I kept symptoms at bay by trying tea tree oil, hydrocortisone cream, head and shoulders, and lately ACV.

The real cure came recently and made a drastic improvement. I boiled 2 cups of water, 4tspn Borax, 2 tspn baking soda, and 1tspn honey. I let it come to room temp and poured in an empty shampoo bottle. Take a shower, give the bottle a good shake, pour some of the watery solution on your hair, and massage scalp with your fingers. I wash the rest of my body while it soaks for around 10min, also cleaning my face, neck, and chest with it. It won’t sud up in your hair, but might feel a bit slimy while wet. Finally, rinse it out. I choose to use ACV afterwards as a conditioner.

It leaves my scalp feeling totally refreshed. No signs of flakes, skin has returned to normal color, and pores are shrinking. I end by using a face moisturizer (I like Aveda for sensitive skin).

That’s it! I hope this helps anyone else who might have symptoms like I used to.

d3for Seborrheic Dermatitis

Hi, I had mild seb derm on my face (around my nose) for 3 decades. What permanently got rid of it was vitamin d3 supplements. Condition 100% disappeared after taking 10,000 d3 for a few days and has never returned.

P.S. Also tried the borax remedy, topical and internally, but it only helped temporarily.

D3 for Seb Derm

Megs (Cambridge) on 05/21/2019

I have had seb dermatitis (aka dandruff) near my nose for over 40 years. Looks like I have a cold all the time because of the redness around my nose! Have tried many supplements and topical treatments over the years from docs and herbalists, but none have helped.

Without meaning to, I finally cleared it up using Vitamin D3 serum drops. I bought D3 because I wasn't getting enough sun and started taking about 3-5 drops a day. Each drop is 1,000 iu. Within a day, my skin cleared up. This is not a cure. If I stop taking the drops, I start to get those small bumps and redness again after about 48 hours. But it doesn't take much D3 to keep it under control.

So much better than the steroid prescription cream.

Dandruff Shampoo Helpful for Seb Derm

Annie (Kent, UK) on 12/23/2020

Seborrhiac dermatitis-

my dermatitis started during June 2020 when I split from my partner, had a big bullying session going on at work and with Covid was in the midst of impending redundancy. It started around my eyes as a slight rash of which I sparingly used my partners hydrocortisone cream which did help. 5 months on I had lost my job and with a big mortgage etc etc and still no job in sight my S dermatitis had got to the stage where it is red raw and all bubbly and looked awful.

After loads of reading I began to realise it was connected to Candida which I suffer with and also wondered if like years ago it could be coming from fungus from my hair. I started reading that a dandruff shampoo with ketoconazole (Nizoral) or a good quality dandruff shampoo with this ingredient in would applied on the condition and slightly lathered and left on overnight would be effective. I can say after trying absolutely loads of natural creams and spending loads of money this was effective and can’t begin to describe what a huge difference this made in my confidence levels. Please if any of you have suffered with dermatitis or Eczema on the eyes this is worth giving a try.

Good luck 😉

Lime and Himalayan Salt for Seborrheic Dermatitis

Lime + Himalayan Salt for Seborrheic Dermatitis

Drink a glass of water with a whole (or half) lime + teaspoon of Himalayan salt every morning on an empty stomach.

Background:

I had severe SD on my face and chest. I was very discouraged when ACV didn't work for me as it has worked for so many others. I was able to combat my SD originally through an incredibly strict diet (no wheat, sugar, dairy etc.). Over time I relaxed my diet and started to notice the symptoms returning. At the recommendation of a friend I started doing lime + Himalayan salt mixed in the mornings and it's been a game changer. I'm no longer on a restrictive diet but am symptom free with the addition of lime+salt.

Hope this can help someone out there - good luck!

Milk of Magnesia for Seborrheic Dermatitis

Diane S (Old Bridge, Nj) on 04/03/2017

We have tried so many things to deal with seborrheic dermatitis on my nephew's head, from shampoos to lotions or natural treatments, nothing worked well. Then it seemed to have spread to his face. It was hot, felt like it was burning, red, flaky and he had yellow crusts. Certain food/drinks made it worse (caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods, etc.) It was horrible. We tried plain milk of magnesia, and it cleared totally. I took a few days. The redness went away immediately. We applied the milk of magnesia to his face and a few spots on his head. We let it dry for an hour and washed it off with warm water. He did this every day for three days and it was totally gone. A week later, one or two spots came back, and he applied it again. It has been over a month and his face and head are normal. We are thrilled. He uses glycerin soap once a day to wash his face. We are grateful for Ted's insight.

Why Apple Cider Vinegar Should Be Organic for Seb Derm

Mj (Tx) on 03/13/2017

This may help shed some light on why ACV needs to be organic (seems people have experimented with both organic and non on this site) to properly heal Seb Derm. I actually just learned this the other day... it really made sense to me. I thought eating organic was just about avoiding all the chemicals/pesticides sprayed on foods - and that is part of it, of course - but it's also that fruits/vegetables grown organically, in an environment without pesticides, must produce their own defense system against fungus, bacteria, "pests". You then ingest this immune boosting, parasite fighting mechanism when you eat organic. Or in this case, place it on a skin infection. WOW. Maybe this is common knowledge to some on this site but I don't think that point is communicated enough. Organic ACV probably has better properties to fight whatever is the root cause of SD.

I've had SD for decades btw and very excited to try something new. But while understanding the organic part, I don't get why ACV would work to treat Seb Derm in the first place. I totally agree with the poster who questioned why vinegar would work on what is considered a yeast infection??? I also went on the anti candida diet to try and help my skin and it definitely recommended avoiding vinegar because it "feeds yeast".

Just a thought... why not throw it out there given traditional medicine can't seem to figure any of this out: maybe it's not actually a yeast based infection? Or are there different "strains" of yeast, just like there are different strains of bacteria? And just like probiotics replace "bad" bacteria in the gut with "good" bacteria... could ACV be replacing or fighting off "bad" or inflammatory yeast strain with a "good" strain? Just thinking outloud...

Egg Whites for Seb Derm on Eyebrows

I had itchy, flaky, scaly eyebrows. I also had this condition above my eyebrows too. I found a natural cure. I tried several things, nothing worked. I read in Chinese Medicine they use egg oil. I could not find a source for it. So, I decided to cracked open an organic egg and rubbed the egg whites on my eyebrows area and let it dry and just put a towel on my pillow and just go to sleep dried on my eyebrows then I would wash it off in the shower in the morning I did this every day for week I was cured. But to be on the safe side I decided to do it for little over two weeks.

I've had sebohorreic dermatitis/little acne off and on for years now on my face. I tried literally everything to varying degrees of success, but it would always come back. I've been using ACV for about 2 months now on my face and it has completely cleared up my face. It was something that always made me insecure and I'm so thrilled to have it removed from my life. If you're suffering from it, give it a try.

My son has had SD on his scalp for many years. He has tried all the shampoos and lotions, etc., recommended from various web sites and nothing worked. It spread to his entire face, and he looked like he had a really bad sunburn with flakes. He switched to unscented glycerin soap and his head and face has healed. Simply amazing : )

Apple Cider Vinegar for Seborrheic Dermatitis

Lavanya (India) on 08/25/2016

I am from India and was prescribed typical creams by dermatologists for SD as mentioned by few of you here. The problem was so bad I had flakes in my chin, around the nose, between my eyebrows and ear lobe. The itchiness was so bad and redness all over. These creams gave me only temporary relief as they were steroids and I started having side effects like facial hair.

I was so worried since I have already changed around 8 dermatologists in last 3 years. I stumbled upon this website and wanted to use Braggs, However one of the online store said it will take 8 days for the delivery, I was so restless that I couldn't wait for 8 days so I bought "Amercian Gargen" ACV from the local super market. Its been a week that I am using diluted solution (1 ACV:1 boiled and cooled water)for application on the skin with cotton ball and drink about 10 ml with warm water as soon as I wake up. First day I had the redness and burning sensation, However it reduced after 3-4 days of application. Its now reduced more than 75% on my face. Though I dont see any flakes in the scalp, I still apply it like I apply oil and wash it with shampoo after 30 min which gives a nice shine. I would suggest not to use Almond/Coconut oil on the face since it increased flakes for me.

I also realized dryness increased when I tried a brand of foundation cream on the face, So I stopped using that as well.

ACV is a great solution to SD without any side effects. Good Luck!

Silver Solution for Seb Derm

Jan. 2016 after many years suffering from stress; abuse ; injuries, (terrible care at nursing home ) ended up with very sever sebborhia scalp & facial dermatitis . I tried every thing spending days and hours searching websites. My best results is using silver solution. apply on face where it's needed after cleaning with gentle cleaner Not soap and NO OILS of any kind.I even need to apply to lips (which were peeling and turning a purple color) re-apply when needed (lips more often if you have that problem. Before I found silver solution was breaking out with pustules (gross) and had the typical redness on chin and nasals folds and behind ears, I use oreganol oil WITHOUT any olive oil added. With q-tips it burns the pustules off and leaves no scars. Used it on scalp too, scratch and combed out dandruff daily over black t-shirt (time consuming but worth the effort. because my dandruff stuck around hair follicles like glue. then shampoo with the only shampoo that worked (I tried so many) nizoral, DHF. etc: etc; everyone at drug stores. the one thats working for me is veterinary formula clinical care, (antiseborrheic medicated shampoo (don't laugh (for dogs) it's anti fungal 100% safe NO paraben dye, soap and oil free. I leave it on overnite (with a terry cloth head cover)find head cover at dollar store and Big Lots stores.

when hair drys can't tell you left shampoo on. no hair falls out even though you brush and fine tooth comb out vigorously. And hair is so soft. I was doing this daily. Now every other day. What an improvement! I'm also cutting out oils and fats from my diet except for 1% milk and looking or vitamins to help my immune system. I read it's a chronic condition but I want to cure it or at least have control over remission. GOOD LUCK to you.

PS….also make sure your body is not acidic

Iodine for Seborrheic Dermatitis

Tt (Brooklyn, Ny ) on 03/23/2016

When I was a teenager I use to get this rash on my face the doctor would give me a cream and after a while it went away. Now at 44 yrs old it came back! Its really stubborn this time. I went to the dermatologist and he said it was Seborrheic Dermatitis. Yes, he prescribe a shampoo and some antibiotics. I ended up in the ER with hives. I was allergic to the antibiotics . The shampoo made my scalp worse. I have tried just about everything, I had some relief with neem oil but the smell! Wow it made me sick! The apple cider helped my scalp but burned my face. I read up on iodine and decided to try it both orally and topically what do you know its drying up the rash on my face. I didn't try the iodine on my scalp but my scalp seems better.

I hope this helps someone. I know how frustrating and embarrassing this condition is.

Sea Salt Helping Seb Derm

Valentine (Portland, Or) on 03/21/2016
5 out of 5 stars

I had seborrheic dermatitis on my chin and around my nose. I tried to clear it up with coconut oil but that ended up spreading it around my eyes. Raw apple cider vinegar diluted with water helped some, but I had to keep applying it daily.

Sea salt diluted with water cleared my SD up almost immediately and the effect has been lasting. I either add a half teaspoon to a pint of warm water and splash it on my fave or I put some onto my fingertips and gently rub it on my face while showering.

Since SD is related to oil glands, it makes sense that oil made it worse and salt cleared it up.
