Psyllium for a Rash

Wanda (Ubud, Bali, Indonesia) on 05/21/2009

I didn't notice enough written about allergies. My mother had a bad rash around her ankles and we made an appointment with the allergy doctor. He walked into the room and said, "Take psyllium husk!" It worked like magic. The rash was gone in days. She was always prone to food allergies but this easy solution was a big surprise and took care of her constipation problems as well.

I use 1 Tbl a day of it now for large intestine spasms and it has helped. These comments have been helpful because I see other ways it has helped me as well. I don't know if I'm addicted to it but sure don't want to be without it! Those spasms are pretty disabling as long as they last. If I combined it with ANYthing else, I'd blame the other thing before the psyllium husk, let alone any kind of CLAY! There is nothing natural about putting that into our bodies! And I've learned the importance of enough water as well!

Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda for Rash Worked

Katzie (Calgary, Canada) on 04/22/2023

After battling a rash with what appeared to be whitehead pimples, on the inside elbow of my right arm, ACV actually did not work. Yikes! Luckily, TED's advice of HP & Baking Soda paste on it for 1/2hr (I did it twice on the same day) and it worked! I had had an outbreak last summer, too. I now realize I was probably drinking too much coffee lately, which likely aided it).

So the actual rash is gone now. But my question is: "What kind of rash is it when it feels like I have teeny-tiny glass shards embedded in my skin?". Not really of course, but it certainly feels that way. Anybody know? It's an interesting symptom.

Re: Zinc Paste for Itchy Bumps

Thank you so much for this remedy! I had a bright red ring around my neck that the dermatologist totally ignored. It was very painful and not responding to her treatment for my other rash. I believe all of these rashes were a herxheimer rash from Keto. It responded best to antifungals. The ring around my neck responded immediately to the butt paste. The breast rash responded well to 1 T. Borax dissolved in 1 C. hot water and after my shower, I used a dental peroxide rinse 1.5%. Also ACV compresses offered relief. She told me I had inverse psoraisis. RIGHT. I think someone needs to go back to school.

Chrysanthemum Tea for Chemical Poisoning Rash

Van (Sunnyvale, Ca, Usa) on 10/11/2011

This simple yet delicious tea has been a life saver many times. One time I had a bad case of chemical poisioning and I had sores and welts all over my eyes, face and mouth. It happened so quick I freaked out and reached for some chrysanthemum tea. Within minutes it all calmed down and I was normal again. Generally in Asia this tea is used to bring down heat and inflamation like canker sores. Hard to believe because it's so sweet. The kind I use is the powdered kind in packets. Just mix with water. You can also use the dried flowers but I have a problem with the dried pollen.

Nopal Leaf Powder for Itchy Rash

Back in 2010, I had itching forearms and ankles after meals for years until I started taking a couple of 650 mg nopal leaf prickly pear "opuntia ficus indica" cactus capsules after each meal. The after-meal itching was gone in two days. Now I just take 1/2 level measuring teaspoon of nopal leaf powder. Last Fall, I ordered two, one pound bags of NBF (Natura Bio Foods) nopal on Amazon. It's from Mexico. SwansonVitamins and PipingRock have the 650 mg nopal capsules.

Activated Charcoal for Antibiotic Rash

I had a reaction to antibiotics that was like a serve sunburn all over my body. It did not go away. I tried so many things. What relieved it finally, after 3 months of suffering, was charcoal capsules. I took 6 - 450 mg activated charcoal capsules in one dose and started feeling better the next day!

I took that for about 5 days.

Make sure you drink enough water and follow directions on bottle (if you take medicine and supplements take them 2 hours before or after).

Selenium Sulfate for skin fungus problems.

I tried using a dandruff shampoo with the active ingredient selenium sulfide 1% or more on my heat rash on my legs and foot and am amazed at how well it works. I spread the shampoo on my affected areas, let it set a while as I go about other things, like brushing my teeth and shaving, then step into the shower to rinse it all off. Each day I am seeing marked improvement.

In my particular case I am using head and shoulders shampoo. It seems to be helping the fingernail fungus I have on the hand I use to apply the shampoo to the other areas. For what it's worth. I was inspired to try this as I saw people on youtube who were using selenium sulfate shampoos for other skin problems and having good results.

Apple Cider Vinegar seems to work great for stinging nettle stings yeah. Just rubbed some fairly cheap ACV with the Mother on my legs where the stings were and they stopped hurting instantly.

Nice!

Borax and Hydrogen Peroxide for Rash

Anon (Us) on 08/20/2018

I developed a rash under my breasts when I had to wear the same nasty, sweaty bra 2 days in a row. Isopropyl alcohol made it worse. Lugol's 2% iodine didn't seem to do anything. Ted's mange remedy (peroxide and borax) has nearly cleared it in about four days. The very first application made a very noticeable difference. I just poured some in my hand, rubbed it in, and put a clean bra on before it dried to help disinfect the bras, too. Reapplied it occasionally throughout the day each day.

Tea (New Zealand) on 06/29/2018
5 out of 5 stars

Yes, I also had a severe reaction all over my face from facial and rf treatment, so many bumps itching, and sore....dry and hot.

I tried ACV, coconut oil, castor oil, lavender, green tea, Aloe Vera and nothing worked but I could get relief with a. Wet hot flannel over my face and hold it on with plenty of hot water up to ten seconds and repeat several times and your skin drink this up.

The rash looked a wee bit better, not dry, then I put baby rash cream on that is called zinc and castor in New Zealand. Is container zinc castor, beeswax and another oil. It looked much better and eased it. I did the hot water thing several times on its own then tonight baby rash grew again. I feared it would make it weepy or pussy but it hasn't. If it wasn't going to work I would hot water steam it off again.

Arnica Gel + Healed Rash on Face

Maggie (Idaho) on 03/10/2018
5 out of 5 stars

I had a rash on my face that I thought might have come from a gnat bite. It started out as a tiny spot on the front of my neck that itched. I didn't think anything of it, figured it'd go away, but it kept spreading up towards my face. I ended up with the rash on my neck, chin and both sides of my mouth and it kept spreading upwards. I tried many of the remedies listed here on EC but none worked. Some would work one time and the next time I'd put some on again, it would sting. That's how I knew a remedy wasn't working, I'd put it on, wait about 5 minutes and it would start to sting and I'd have to wash it off. The areas with the rash were raised, red, and very dry. If I put any kind of oil on it, it would sting.

My dog injured his leg, came in the house limping, and someone on EC said they had used Traumeel on their dog and it had healed. Looked up Traumeel and found out that it was now called T-Relief. Bought some of the cream and put some on my dog. It healed him right away so while I was putting the cream on my dog, I thought to myself that I should try it on my face. The ingredients listed were wonderful healing herbs so maybe it would work on me even though it wasn't meant to heal a rash. Put some on my rash and it didn't sting so I knew I could use it but didn't know if it would heal the rash. Several hours later I could tell it was working. I put it on again that day and 2 more times the next day just to be sure it healed completely. It's all healed.

Olive Oil, Serrapeptase for Rash

Troi (San Antonio) on 12/29/2017

I had a rash that burned like sun burn that started at my bra line. I think it has to do with diet, but I had tried everything also and the last thing I tried was olive oil. 2 teaspoons a day until it goes away then every once in a while as needed. I have now stopped the olive oil because I started to take Serrapeptase which has kind of kept it under control.

Colostrum for Histamine Intolerance Rash

Haro (Texas) on 11/29/2017
5 out of 5 stars

Last year my eleven year old daughter came down with a severe histamine rash all over her body, but predominantly on her sweet, beautiful face. She was so tired all the time, falling asleep wherever she sat down for a minute.

We tried a low histamine diet along with about $1000 of supplements and creams, even a trip to the beach in February! A week at the beach helped a lot, but we couldn’t stay there forever, and I was praying for a miracle.

Fast forward six months...Our miracle came in the form of colostrum. We ordered the expensive stuff off amazon and it started working very quickly. Within a week all the sores and rashes were starting to heal. She also got her energy back and I got my little girl back!

She can now survive off the cheaper colostrum, but for ease of use, we order a spray version and she takes it every morning. We went on vacation and forgot the colostrum. After three days, she started getting tired again, so for now, it’s part of her life indefinitely.

Part of the long version of her story is how this reaction started.

She has fought eczema since birth (elbows, knees), but after discovering fresh, grass fed cow milk, it all went away. She gained weight and her skin was so smooth. Years later, however, in my overmothering efforts, I started making fermented foods: sourdough bread, kefir, pickles, probiotics, and feeding the kids lots of grass fed beef gelatin. It’s suppose to be really good for you right?! Well, it was great, for me and the rest of the kids! But it sent my eleven year old into histamine shock! The short list of what we tried involved most of the remedies here on earth clinic.

I didn’t realize what was going on at first, but when I (out of desperation) gave her a Benadryl, she cleared up quickly. Researching further, I found histamine intolerance information and light bulbs started going off. Life is better now. And the colostrum has allowed her to enjoy her childhood again!

I pray this review truly helps another as this website has helped our family so much!

Parsley Juice for a Rash

Kiki17 (Adelaide, South Australia ) on 09/21/2017

I unsuccessfully tried various remedies to get rid of a stubborn rash, including apple cider vinegar which has often helped me in the past. I decided to mash up some parsley with a mortar and pestle, drench a cotton pad with the juice, and put it on the rash. I left it on there for about an hour, and I have done this twice so far - the rash is now almost gone. I'm so relieved to have found something that works!

Nettle Tincture for Contact Rash

Mama To Many (Tennessee) on 07/18/2017
5 out of 5 stars

My son was in the woods building a fort with his friends. He came in and said his chin was stinging. He had not been bitten, but thought perhaps he had brushed against a stinging nettle plant. It must have been bad for him to come in; he is usually pretty tolerant. I couldn't see any issue on his skin.

I gave him 1/4 teaspoon nettle tincture in a little water. I had him hold it in his mouth for several seconds before swallowing. The relief came very quickly.

I don't know if it was nettle that he touched or something else. But Nettle tincture should work for its own sting, plus allergic reactions to all kinds of other plants and irritants. One son used nettles daily for a year for allergies. After that time his reactions to poison ivy were much less.

Hmm..I don't think I have used nettle tincture for poison ivy before. I will have to try it out. I am sure one of my children will get into some soon; they seem to be good at finding it even though I am the poison ivy police around here.

To make nettle tincture, I put the dry nettle leaf in a jar and cover with vodka. Let it sit for 2 weeks. Strain out the leaves with a coffee filter. The resulting tincture will last for years. It is wonderful to have on hand.

Neem Oil for Rash

I'd had a rash on 3 small areas on my leg and had tried many remedies but none seemed to help. I tried ACV, coconut oil and several other oils, colloidal silver and essential oils....none helped. I finally tried neem oil and in less than a week, the rash was gone. I used the oil undiluted, right from the bottle, and applied it about twice a day, morning and night, when I remembered.

Supplement Helped Candida Rash and Athlete's Foot

Oral remedy for candida rash and/or athlete's foot

I had developed a candida rash and the doctor's medicines weren't doing any good. So I went to the health food store and found a product to take by mouth containing caprylic acid, pau d'arco, grapefruit seed extract and tea tree oil. I only took half the recommended dosage every day and the rash was gone gone within a week. As a bonus, it also killed the athlete's foot on the tops of my feet and big toes I had been fighting for seven months.

Topical Borax Treatment Helping Heat Rash

Diana (Ca) on 09/17/2016
5 out of 5 stars

I have been drinking borax, about 1/4 tsp in a glass of water in the morning for about a week. Haven't noticed much change yet.

Last night, I was in pain after two nights of a rash with welts and itching on my thigh. Maybe heat rash, but the weather has been cooler. I got up and took a hot shower and rubbed Borax on my skin and the rash on my leg and rinsed. I felt no more itching and pain afterwards and was able to sleep through the night and the welts have gone down to almost nothing. Today, there is no itching and minimal raised skin.

I will continue with a bit of borax in hand to scrub the skin if I feel the heat rash coming back.

I have dealt with heat rashes for the past 10 years and eliminating soap and skin products has had little effect. I bought the borax last week when I finally found a store that carried it.

I'll post updates if I have further problems.
