Dental Extraction Helped Ease Extreme Knee Pain

Hollyhock (America ) on 10/25/2023

This sure was a surprise, on Monday I had a bad molar extracted. That night at 2 a.m. I did my usual slow movement to get out of bed and slowly stood up expecting my normal extreme knee pain,,,, only to find no pain! I am completely perplexed! I am 95% better! Can a dental problem cause such pain in another area in the body?? How can it be a coincidence? This knee pain ruled over me! I am over the moon happy!! Would love to hear if anyone has had a similar experience?

Castor Oil pads for knee swelling / arthritis

I was a retail meat cutter for over 30 years. Standing on cold concrete, and lifting for a living, I suffered at an older age, now retired. I did hit my right knee on my banister corner in 2006 and caused a BAD KNEE for ever. I favored my left knee only to have that knee to get bad after a few years too. So, I have one or both bad knees since 2006 by 2009 I was on heavy drugs and I was taking cortisone shots in my knees. I hated it.

SO I stopped living an active life and stayed home most times and babied both knees. Lots of Magnesium did help too. I can deal with the pain most days but if I have a busy day I cant avoid, I do take OTC meds or tramadol at bed time with aspirin. I HATE taking Excedrin, Motrin or Tylenol. They seem to work ok, but I have been taking those so much after I stopped Vicodin. I fear damage to my organs.

Recently I read here on earth clinic about a gentleman who used castor oil for his knee swelling. NOW I have heard of this over the years. I did in fact save my gallbladder in 2005 by doing heated castor oil packs over my gallbladder for an hour nightly for 2 weeks and maintain weekly for months. Happy to say 2022 I still have my gallbladder!! I did start eating more FAT in my diet to keep my gallbladder working pushing out the sludge. CUTTING OUT all sugars and bad carbs including gluten.

I wish I could find the post the man did on earth clinic to tell him THANK YOU!! For pushing me to try castor oil. I did as he did, I used panty liners and poured organic castor oil on the absorbent side, put them on my knees. I made some knee covers by cutting an old pair of Capri leggings to fit over my knees only. works great!!

I was amazed at how much it helped the swelling. I have not seen my knees so low in swelling in YEARS! I recommend trying this. I use organic by NOW since I am MTHFR challenged and cant detox well. I try to use organic on anything I can.

I usually have to use my cane to get up from my morning computer hour, the 2 day I tried the castor oil knee packs I got up with out knees locking due to swelling. That night I did not wear them to bed. When I did get up to use the bathroom or do an early feed up for my 2 kitties, I forgot I even had painful knees. IM AMAZED!! I do use a saturation in my pad. Enough to make it a wet application. It does seem to absorb into the skin… hence why I use organic.

Years ago, I even changed up my diet to Gluten Free, sugar free, even low oxalate and recently low histamine foods. All did help but no where near enough. I do not want surgery, I have Fibro and my Dr and I both worry about healing bone and flesh.

I hope this castor oil on my knees continues!! I just orders more bottles of organic castor oil. BEST external medicine money can buy! BETTER than any voltaren gel, or salon pas!!

TRY IT!! You will not be sorry. HELPED me pretty fast, but only got better as the day went on. I did pour a little more on late afternoon to the already liners on my knees.

Happy!!

Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM for Knee Pain

Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM for Knee Pain

There are many supplements giving all those three substances with one capsule. I have chondromalacia patella in my right knee and in the past I had many crisis of pain for days per year to the extend that sometimes I limped badly during deterioration. If I did a deep squat in order to work for some time, then most probably the next day my right knee would hurt. All this are past, no more pain any more, but you have to be patient. The first results are after six months in order for the joints to rebuilt.

Gave it to my mother who has osteoarthritis in her left knee and she had the same good results after six months of supplementing. "Doctor's Best" is a good and cheap brand, but there are other good ones too.

I learned about this supplement in the following site which many people (about 132 of total 154) report very good results in joints problems. You can translate the following from Greek with Google translator:

I used to have chronic knee pain until I was led to purchase and use colloidal gold. The 2 droppers under the tongue had this knee pain gone within a couple of weeks! It's amazing. Also took away this numbness I use to get in my left shoulder that stretched down my arm. It's completely gone.

Castor Oil Packs, Flaxseed Oil for Knee Pain

Regarding knee-joint pain remedies specifically, I can attest to the efficacy of cold-pressed Castor-oil packs, wrapped in saran-wrap and followed by an Ace bandage or neoprene knee-brace. Use overnight for a minimum of four nights and my nagging ache disappeared. I now take Flaxseed oil capsules which are seemingly, keeping my knee free of daily pain.

Comfrey Oil and ACV Baths Helped Knee Pain

M.A. (Phoenix) on 04/01/2021

I've been suffering from meniscus tear for about 6 months. It started with me having serious digestion issues causing serious weight loss which reduced my energy and increased my pain from RA. I slept all day and everything I ate caused me severe joint pain. I went from being crazy active to bedridden in such a short period. This caused me to lose strength bc I couldn't exercise anymore. When I started feeling better but still extremely underweight, I would try to exercise slowly on my elliptical. This caused my knee pain which worsened to the point from walking to wheelchair bound.

I now suffer from a locked knee that's 40% angle and can't straighten my knee. I also didn't have health insurance so seeing a doctor was very expensive. The doctors I saw which I paid out of my pocket all wanted to give me a cortisone shot. I was too scared to try it bc of my digestion issues. I also was too scared to take Alleve bc of my digestion issues. So I just suffered pain every day all day. I tried leech therapy twice which alleviated my pain but the 3rd time, it worsened.

Finally, after 4 months of getting no sleep from my knee pain, I remembered reading about comfrey oil. Native Americans call it "boneknit" bc it heals broken bones and torn tendons. It also relieves pain and inflammation. I bought the oil and put liberally on a cloth and wrapped it around my knee and placed a heating pad on it for 30 minutes. I did this once in am and once before bed.

I also took 2 cups of apple cider vinegar baths with the hottest water I could handle.

Within 4 days, my knee pain was 95% gone and swelling down 60 -70%. I think the combo of both Apple Cider Vinegar bath and comfrey oil with heat healed some of the tear and inflammation. I'm still suffering from my tear and my knee is still swollen but I can finally see my knee cap.

Now have health insurance and can finally get surgery for it. If I had used this oil immediately after my injury, I think I would be walking and not wheelchair bound.

Btw my digestion finally improved after 8 months of being 15 lbs underweight. (110 to 92). I'm petite so this was very hard on me. My body was starving itself bc my food just wouldn't digest. Anyway, a Russian doctor told me to try Himalayan salt twice a day 1st thing am and before bed. He said to start off small and work your way up. Fortunately, I didn't have high blood pressure issues so I started with 1/4 tsp in warm water twice daily.

Within 4 to 5 days I started gaining weight. Within 2 months, I'm finally 106lbs and my food is digesting.

I have h.pylori and am still working on getting rid of it, but at least I'm gaining weight now and finally have energy and my RA pain is more bearable. I do take natural supps for my RA: turmeric, acv, lemon juice, moringa, raw honey. So that is helping the joint pain. I've seen several Dr for my meniscus tear and hopefully I will get my surgery in a few weeks and get out of this wheel chair. I hope this helps.

Vitamin C for Knee Pain

Barbara (Portland, OR) on 12/06/2006
5 out of 5 stars

I started taking high doses of Vitamin C to help ward off a cold virus. For the past several weeks I took 5-10 grams of Vitamin C. Then I noticed my knee pain disappeared.

I am a runner/cross country skier who has virtually stopped these activities due to pain in my right knee.

For 7 years I have tried glucosamine, calcium, MSM, and NSAIDs. I don't like taking NSAIDS. However, the other remedies did not relieve the pain and inflammation. Therefore, I have been tolerating the pain and have discontinued using NSAIDS.

I was very surprised to find that the Vitamin C use correlated with complete pain relief and reduction of inflammation. So I stopped the C for a week and the pain returned. I have resumed the C and the pain is gone again.

I am 62 yrs young and very active but I guess I over did it and strain my right knee. Terrible pain and swelling and tried ice and wrapping my knee but it didn't help at all. I tried arnica gel, there's also arnica cream and amazing how much better my knee is within 2 days. I urge anyone with knee pain or anywhere else to use arnica topically. I know you can get the pellets but I don't know if it works as well as the cream. Pain is so depressing. Wish all of you the best and thanks EC for your site.

Approximately two years ago I had a knee replacement, and I'm never without discomfort in that area, but can manage to walk three miles or so. Also I have stiffness in my legs and hips after sitting for any length of time, and need to heave myself up to a standing position. Going up and down stairs/steps is also difficult as I do have balance problems caused by two episodes of labyrinthitis a few years back, and have to hold onto rails/banisters. I've taken countless supplements to remedy these issues but speaking truly nothing has really helped.

But I never give up the search. I've recently been looking into purchasing a vibrating power plate in the hope that it would help with circulation, muscle strength in my legs, thighs, lower back, and improve my general fitness. Or would I be wasting my money? I have read on the web that one person experienced a feeling of sea-sickness when using one. So I'm interested to learn whether any Earth Clinic readers have had any experience using a power plate and would they recommend one. I'm 80 years of age (pretty ancient, but young in spirit), female, and apart from the above problems keep fairly well.

Breathing Exercises for Knee Pain

I have had swelling in my knees for awhile now and have tried many things with limited success. What worked best was basically staying off my feet but at the end of the day my knees would still be swollen. I came across a you tube video by Wim Hof and his breathing method to make a long story short it has had a immediate effect on the inflammation in my knees it cost me nothing but doing the method two to three times a day, no pills, nothing required but his breathing method . He is also known as the ice man and has done some amazing things if this helps you as much as it's helping me that will be great give it a try. You might be amazed how your ability to hold your breath increases also.

I've been taken about 1/4 teaspoon borax in water 2/3 week (for past 3 years) and it helped my clicking knees..

I found it best in a cup of tea with spoon full honey, you cannot taste it at all..

Cabbage Poultice for Knee Pain

Helen G (Los Angeles, Ca) on 08/28/2018

Oh My Goodness! Cabbage is fabulous in keeping arthritis out of your knee!! Just pile the leaves on your knee - front and back - after you have taken the spines out of the cabbage and used a rolling pin to release some of the juices. Then wrap it up with saran wrap - you might need two sheets of about 15" long. After you do that, wrap the whole knee up in a scarf and go about your business or go to bed. In the morning you take it all off - your cabbage will be wet which is a good sign - and your knee will not be swollen nor will it hurt and you can walk without any pain!!! Try it for about 10 days straight and you will be saying "Oh My Goodness!"

Ankle Weights for Knee Pain

I just injured my knee and watched videos online about knee injuries. A holistic chiropractor said cortisone and NSAIDs destroy cartilage. He also said if you really had bone on bone, you can't walk and that cartilage can be regrown. He said to put 5 to 8 pound ankle weights on and swing your feet back and forth gently. Pulling the knee joint apart helps improve circulation and this better gets nutrients to the joint.

Turmeric for Arthritic Knee Pain

Turmeric for Arthritic Knee Pain

Turmeric is amazing! I have been dealing with a swollen side of my knee because I don't have cartridge there for 2 years. I toss and turn at night if I don't have a pillow between my legs because its sore. I finally made a Dr appt with my orthopedic Dr. After doing that I remembered hearing about Turmeric and how it helps inflammation. So I shopped around to get the purest kind with pepper and found one with 1,000 mg. I took 2 pills, the suggested dose on the bottle. This was the middle of the day. By night time the swelling was reduced and I had no problem sleeping on my side without a pillow. My knee was not sore at all!!! Amazing! I'm cancelling my Dr appt.

It has been a week and the swelling has not returned!

Aleve, like advil, is a non-sterile anti-inflammatory drug. (NSAID). All NSAIDs will destroy your joints. Slowly, but they are destructive. They are fine to take occasionally, as long as you know they block healing.

Cartilage, bone broth, rebuild whatever is messed up in your joint.

My massage gal wrapped my knees in a "bandage" of castor oil, me thinking "Edgar Cayce?" but to my surprise when the massage was ending and she took of the bandages, the knees didn't hurt as much! (Knees were in a car crash). Used castor oil at home sometimes.

It's messy, castor oil stains, but amazing pain reduction, possibly permanent? I wont guarantee but then have never hurt as much and the pain has gone down a bit with every or almost every use

Micheal's Remedies for Knee Pain; Poultice Recipe Included!

Michael (New Zealand) on 10/21/2017
4 out of 5 stars

Good day there Posters!

My knee pain has been a real trial for most of the year. Tried all sorts of treatments. My Gurus seem to think it is either Tendonitis OR Ligament trouble. These would seem to be the main issues I have to deal with.

The young doc told me it was old age but that's all rot because the other one is the same age and is fine - what do they know?!

I have recently been taking six Alfalfa tablets and six Joint Formula tablets divided into three lots per day taken with eats.

Also, I have been faithfully drinking copious amounts of water with some Magnesium Chloride diluted into it at the rate of somewhat less than a teaspoon per 300 mls glass of water. If I drink any more I might as well be a fish.

I did try the Borax treatment but I have difficulty tolerating it, so have taken a break. I like to think it would help Arthritis sufferers, for those who could cope with it, as I am a great "Boron Believer". Maybe the tablets might be better for me?!

One is supposed to rest a damaged tendon but that is tricky when you need the knee to walk about on! If you don't walk - you get fat and this puts more pressure on the knee and before you know it you are on a downward spiral.

My favourite cream for night time would have to be the Bronson Soothe Cream. I know one is not supposed to..... but this is sooo good I have to share it with you. Don't get it anywhere your eyes on any account or it will sting heaps! Believe me- I have tried lots of creams for this type of affliction and this one deserves an Oscar.

The latest trick I have tried is the "Old Russian Remedy for Arthritis, Inflammation & Rheumatism". You take 1 tablespoon of Honey, 1 tablespoon spicy Mustard, 1 tablespoon of Water and 1 teaspoon of fine Salt (I used Himalayan salt). Mix this lot in a bowl to get a smooth paste (I used too much water) and plonk it into a sealed container and put it in the fridge with a "KEEP OFF" or "Skull and Crossbones" label on it.

I am old-fashioned enough to believe in poultices, so this one appeals to me. I don't mind the mess-many aspects of my life are messy already anyway. Paste/smear the gunk onto the affected area (in my case the right knee) and cover with some plastic (mm! ). Then cover that again with a stretchy bandage that tightly encases the knee (available from a Pharmacy near you) and leave on for say 2 hours. Better still, leave overnight and then rinse the area with warm water. Ideally, one would repeat this for four consecutive nights. I like the thought of it beavering away whilst I am asleep.

Anyway, the knee seems to have benefited somewhat, as last night was my fourth night. I will try to keep you posted. One lives in hope. Thank you Mr Putin.

Cheers,

Michael
