I ferment a garlic bulb +some cayenne pepper extract in honey & take whenever I feel a cold or flu (or any illness) coming on but have also found that it's a lot easier to put this mixture on an abscess/toothache as often as needed & hold it there without any discomfort or burning at all & Zap - all fixed!

class="MsoNormal">I had a toothache that lasted around two weeks. I tried salt water which usually works but it didn’t this time. Next thing I tried was tea tree oil and oregano oil. I put one drop on an interdental brush and flossed it in the gap next to the painful tooth. Then I swished the oil and saliva around my mouth for ten minutes before spitting it out. The pain went away for a couple of days then came back. I went to the dentist who took an x ray and said it’s not a tooth infection should be a gum infection. I really didn’t want to take synthetic antibiotics as they kill all the good bacteria. So I tried tea tree oil and oregano oil again. This time two drops in two applications, one after the other, in the gap and swishing for half an hour. This controlled the pain but it kept coming back after an hour or so.

It was getting really painful so I did some research and found this website and tried raw garlic. I sliced a clove into thin slices to avoid burning my mouth and put one slice at a time between my teeth and chewed it then held the crushed garlic in my mouth as long as I could before spitting it out. Probably five to ten minutes. I took about two cloves this way over the course of two hours. It worked very well, the pain went to zero, but I had garlic burns on my mouth and tongue. I didn’t really mind the burns, the pain relief was so good. Next day I used the same slicing method but I tried putting half a teaspoon of honey in my mouth before the garlic slice to reduce the heat. It worked really well. I also tried (separately not together) olive oil, coconut oil and water. They all worked to reduce the heat and the burning of the garlic. I also started swallowing the garlic/honey or garlic/oil mixture after holding it in my mouth a while. After two days of taking four cloves a day in this way the pain was gone and didn’t come back. I was so happy that I got rid of pretty severe pain from a gum infection naturally.

Garlic for Toothache

I chewed on a piece of garlic as long as I could. When it started burning I just let the garlic juice sit in my mouth on the toothache side. Then I spit it out. I had no pain! Thank God for this remedy!!

I also wanted to chime in with praise for garlic in eliminating gum inflammation. My experience started with an upper tooth that became painful when I bit down on some steak. To try to stop any infection, I spent a few days gargling with diluted hydrogen peroxide and also with salt water. In spite of my gargling, the inflammation and pain continued to spread even to my lower gums. Within a few days the entire left side of my face felt tender and uncomfortable and there were areas on both my upper and lower gums that were very sore. I tried oil of oregano on a painful place on my gum and there was a small amount of relief.

At that point I checked on EC and read about using garlic. I placed a small clove directly against the gum in a very painful area. It burnt for the first 3 or 4 minutes but then I was able to leave the garlic there for about 20 minutes.

With just one application of garlic, there was a noticeable relief from the tenderness and pain. I repeated the garlic clove application a few more times that day and then again the following day and was elated that the inflammation was completely gone over the entire left side of my face. I am so thankful for Earth Clinic and so thankful that our Creator gave us all of these natural cures.

Garlic for tooth pain

I just wanted to chime in here with what I use to stop the delicate gum from being in contact with garlic, to stop the burn - I simply slice the clove to the size I want, and leave the skin on for the gum side! Easy-peasy.

My experience with raw garlic was extremely unpleasant. I wonder if anyone can explain? I cut an organic garlic clove in half, chewed it a little & left it on my sore gum for as long as possible. I knew to expect a fierce burn, yikes understatement! I swallowed the garlic pretty quickly as the burn was too intense. Suddenly my head felt like it would explode, it throbbed with severe pain all over, I was in tears, very afraid & almost called an ambulance. It only lasted about 5mins thank goodness. What happened?

The garlic remedy seems to be helping. I have only done 2 doses so far and I can tell the pain is subsiding. Also going to include more garlic in my diet.

Garlic Has been the best tooth pain remedy I have tried. I put it in my tooth and bite down a little and leave for about a minute and the pain subsides.

I've been having pain in a lower left molar on and off for a while. Dentist treated it in October with some sort of medicine pack and it felt great until around 12/19. Pain was so bad I felt angry! Between the holidays and my desire to avoid a root canal, I came here. I've used a number of EC remedies over the years. I read the garlic for tooth abscess and began doing the whole (small) clove, chewing as long as I could stand twice a day.

I noticed a difference right away, but especially after second day, however my skin was also raw from the contact. I've dropped it down to 1/4 clove chewed for about 20 seconds at night only. I feel no pain at all. I might start stretching out to every other day. Thanks EC.

Garlic was great. I have oil pulled for several years and tried gargling ACV. But, eating garlic did it. I have a molar that has had 2 root canals, yes 2, in the past 20 years. I sucked on a 1/4 bulb of garlic and then ate it two nights in a row. The throbbing pain left quickly. Now, I eat it about once a week for prevention. Thank you EC!

I never write up these types of things.

Ive had tooth pain before but this was the worst pain I had ever had! I dont know why but wont go to the dentist. My usal clover oil, vit c pills treatment did not work. Top right 4th tooth in from back, pain started to go just under cheek bone and I tried the eatting fresh garlic x3 times a day (morning, arvo, night) instant pain relief to my disbelief!! By 3rd day only minimal pain, 6th day pretty much all pain has gone. It trully works. Thank you all for writing up your garlic experience because it made me try it...new found garlic chewer.

I just want to say thank you earth clinic. Four days ago I had a really bad toothache it was unbearable. the type of pain that wakes you up at night, the type of pain that pain meds doesn't take away. I tried raw garlic I cut 1/2 and rubbed it over the affected tooth & gum area ( avoid the cheeks or tongue it burns) and then the other hld I drank it like a pill. twice daily for 4 days my pain is gone and I feel good.... I recommend this to anyone with a bad toothache. ( BTW I have no medical insurance so Dentist was not a easy option for me)

Garlic for a toothache worked for me! Yesterday I was having severe tooth pain from what I am pretty sure is a cavity. Before I tried garlice, I tried everything else I have on hand here: taking general pain reliever (no relief), swishing with Listerine for as long as I could stand (minimum relief), and rubbing oregano oil on my gum where the tooth is (very little relief and the oil burns and tastes horrible). Finally I saw this recommendation and it has helped a LOT. I have a jar of garlic cloves packed in oil, so I cut one in half. I gently bit down on one half, keeping it between my teeth but not chewing it, and I wedged the other half between my cheek and gum. About 90% of the awful pain went away within a minute. No kidding. I had to spit it out after about 5 minutes because the garlic was turning to mush and it makes you salivate a lot (ha), so I repeated this process and after the second time the pain was barely there. This relief lasted about 6 hours. It's almost bedtime and the pain started to come back, so I did it again and it worked again. I don't know yet how effective it is over several days, but I hope it continues! Try it, you're not risking anything except the unpleasantly strong garlic taste. :)

Garlic for Toothache After Routine Work

Garlic made a difference! Had a toothache for about a week after getting a temporary crown put in. Hot foods would make the pain exponetially worse. Was looking for a solution other than lots of Advil to curb the discomfort. I didn't have any fresh garlic so I used a cube of crushed frozen garlic; I let it thaw, mixed it with olive oil and applied on the tooth and gums with a q-tip. It was spicy but took down the pain by about 70% within 10 minutes. I don't have an infection, so I can vouch that garlic helps lessen the pain of a toothache after dental work. Still aches some but improved!

Warning

Warning, although it can work to relieve pain, it won't fix the problem. Two months after I used this remedy, I discovered a hole on my tooth, and now I have to do root canal or extraction because the tooth became decayed inside and I barely have any tooth structure left. So if you experience pain more than one time on the same side of your mouth- I felt pain again about a month later or so - go to the dentist!

Had a root canal procedure done Thursday. By that night, I was having horrible pain. By the next day, I was having excruciating pain. I could not function the pain was so intense. Went on like this taking antibiotics and pain killers and for relief.

Found this web site and put garlic in a press let it sit then put it on the painful spot above the tooth and it burned soooo bad! But with in a couple minutes the pain was so much less. Garlic was the only thing that worked! Such relief! Thank you!

Garlic worked! I had a toothache that was followed by a headache. I was so miserable that after about an hour laying in agony, I checked earthclinic for some help.

I got a clove of garlic, cut it up, and waited a few minutes to let the enzymes be released as someone mentioned. I then fried a bit with olive oil and before it turned brown, I removed it from the pan. When it cooled a bit, I applied on my gum, right above the teeth that hurt. Right away I experienced some relief. I sucked the juices of the garlic and even chew on a few. The pain is gone! I am amazed!!!

Wow- super impressed. I'm two weeks away from having a baby and started to get a pretty bad toothache tonight. I was freaking out thinking about the fact I wouldn't want to get x-rays right now, don't want to have tooth work done while preggo, don't want to take meds... so jumped on here to see if there were any recommendations. Saw the garlic posts and decided to throw some fresh garlic in my garlic press, mix it with olive oil (all I have is regular extra virgin olive oil for cooking), and do the oil pulling w/ the added pressed garlic. Swished it around for 8 minutes (couldn't handle the burn for the full 10- OW! ) and viola! No tooth pain whatsoever now. Thank you again EC community!!

I use "cloves of garlic". Slice cloves of garlic, use a bit of olive oil in a sauce pan, fry "ever so lightly", barely browning. The less you fry it, the more medicinal power the garlic has.

Take the "toasted garlic slices", when a bit cooled - pack between the gum & the cheek. Let set as long as you can, sucking the juices out of the garlic into the mouth. (about 10-15 min). When you are tired of holding the garlic between the cheek and gums, then chew the garlic with the tooth or teeth infected.... May need a 2nd or 3rd application a few hours later (depending on how bad the infection is).

Stops the pain and clears the infection. Usually works the 1st time, every time.

I have used this method every time I have had a tooth infection and I have never had to have the tooth removed.

Enjoy!

p.s. Garlic must be slightly fried .. so it does not "burn" the inside of the gum or cheek from the natural strong juices of the garlic.

I love this site so much. I have been coming here for a couple of years now and have finally registered to post some feedback because I'm truly grateful for other's feedback or else I would still be in excruciating pain right now. I woke up with a SEVERE toothache. My gums and cheek were swollen and I couldn't eat and even was in pain from talking. Ibuprofen did little to help. I came on earthclinic and read the amazing feedback about garlic. I chopped up a clove of garlic really small and waited 5 minutes for the allicin to be fully released. I swallowed it with a bunch of water and layed on the couch. It didn't work right away, but I wanted to give it time to work. I took a clove, chopped it in half and put little slices in it, in an attempt to release more allicin. I was afraid to put it in my mouth because of all of the feedback about the burning, but was in so much pain and desperate I did it. I sandwiched the garlic between my teeth and after a few seconds could feel the burn. It was uncomfortable but not as bad as the pain I was in. Anyway after 5 minutes, the pain had been cut in half. Every 3-4 hours, I swallowed more minced garlic and put garlic on the tooth as needed. Within 24 hours, the large bump on my gums shrank to nearly nothing and the pain was gone! It's a miracle. I'm a believer. It is worth a try and much cheaper and healthier than antibiotics. Thank you so much earthclinic and all of the posters for sharing their experiences.

Better But With Side Effects

The fresh garlic did work, but it made a very bad sore in that area and hurts badly. Had to do more damage control with meds for canker sore.

Thank God for this site! I have been suffering most of day with toothache pain. Only had garlic powder. First I applied with a Q tip, dipped in olive oil then powder. It burned but subsided. Next I emptied a tea bag and put garlic powder into it folded it up and placed between gum under tooth and lip. It is definitely helping I could focus enough to write this post. Thank you again!

I had my left lower wisdom tooth removed last week. All was well until I noticed that there was no clot! I had heard about dry sockets and remembered when my Dad had it... Well I remember him saying how painful it was, anyway. So today I was unable to get the pain under control. NOTHING was working. So I hopped on here and read about the sliced garlic cloves... WOW!!! After some intense burning and drooling, IT WORKED!!! That was about an hour ago! I still have some residual soreness but NO PAIN! I simply sliced a clove and put it in my mouth at the source of pain for several minutes and VIOLA'. THANK YOU EARTH CLINIC!!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I was in sooooooo much pain from a tooth that I had root canal on. I wish now that I just had the tooth pulled. The pain is horrible. Looked on earth clinic found the garlic cure, it took the pain away about 90%. I was trying to chew the garlic and when I bit down I wanted to scream. The pain was excruciating. Put garlic on my gum and teeth hoping it will take the pain away like the first time. Tried the charcoal did not work at all. Was getting desperate. Tried apple cider vinegar did not help but the garlic helped. Thanks!

This weekend I was with a friend when she experienced an excruciating tooth ache when she bit down on a cracker and impacted a tooth that needs a root canal (but she) can't have the procedure right away. As bad as it was, I thought the pain would last for days. Despite her protests, I mixed a paste consisting of crushed garlic, turmeric, salt and pepper. She rubbed the paste on her gums and packed the tooth with it. The results were impressive. At one point she said she could feel it pulling out the pain. She was out of pain before bedtime and she woke up feeling fine the next morning.

I had sudden tooth ache earlier today! Took some over the counter med! They worked but went to work that night and forgot my meds! So I got on earth clinic and found out about garlic! So looking around work couldn't find any! Just so happened we had garlic powder! Don't ask why I have no idea! So I put it in my mouth and pushed it on the tooth with my tongue and it worked! It probably took a little longer then the fresh but after while it worked! So if anyone out there can't get a hold on fresh garlic at the time and have garlic powder try it!!! THANKS EARTH CLINIC!!!!! YOU'RE AWESOME!!!!!

I cured a badly aching tooth with I clove of organic garlic liquidised with half a whole organic lemon (chop them both small for ease of liquidation I use a hand held one) a couple of drops of filtered water (depending on your taste) and a half tspoon of manuka or propolis organic honey.

I am 62 years old and I follow a healthy diet for my blood type so am not generally ill at all. It took 2 and a half days of taking the above recipe 3 times a day. My dentist was very impressed.
