Tide Powder Detergent with Bleach Crystals for Hives

It was 1970’s and Kim was 7 years old. She broke out with a case of hives. Her father started a hot bath and put Tide Powder Detergent with Bleach Crystals (about half of the normal amount used in the washing machine) into the bath water. He had Kim get into the bath and soak. She said to felt like it was burning. After 30 minutes of soaking, she got out of the tube and the hives had stopped spreading. The next day, her mom took here to the base hospital (he dad was in the military). She told the Dr. what her dad did and the Dr told her that daddy saved your life.

Hives iodine fix

I had hives appear on my face last year. Major stressors were the cause. I had allergy testing and nothing came up. Went on steroids and this eventually resolved the situation and the major stressor went away. Fast forward a year later and major stress came again. Hives reappeared. Went back on steroids and they helped until I stopped them. Searched here and desperately tried iodine. What a difference. I do 6 drops in a bottle of water twice a day. So far hives are starting to resolve and heal. Will continue until they are gone.

Apple Cider Vinegar for First Ever Case of Hives!

First Ever Case of Hives!

I have no idea what triggered this. Dowsing with a pendulum tells me nothing! I came on about 3 hours ago. I took 2 Benadryl about an hour ago. Then I took a spray bottle with ACV into the shower. Rinsed it off with fairly hot water. But coconut oil on after the shower. I don't know what stopped the itching. But it's 95% better. Still red and welty. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions!

ACV for Hives

Rob (Kentucky) on 01/27/2023
5 out of 5 stars

My story about using ACV to treat hives. A female friend came over to my house to visit me and while she was sitting on my couch, she started to scratch her back as if something was biting her. She then started to itch on her thighs, legs, torso, all over her body. She thought maybe a spider was crawling on her. I got up to go look at her to see if I could see a spider. Instead, I saw welts and raise bumps appearing on the skin as I was looking at it (craziest thing I've ever seen). I recognize it immediately as hives. I told her she was having a hives outbreak and for her to go too my bathroom and strip off all of her clothing and stand in the shower. She looked at me like I was crazy but I guess the itching and the raised welts appearing all over her body took priority over getting naked at my house. I ran into the kitchen and grabbed the bottle of windex window cleaner from under the sink, opened it up and poured the windex solution out into a container. Gave it a quick rinse inside the bottle under the faucet and re-filled it up with apple cider vinegar. I ran to the bathroom and directed her to stand in the shower with her hands up in the air above her head. I proceeded to spray her all over with 100% ACV. She complained about how awful the ACV smelled. I told her the worse was yet to come. She had to stand in the shower soaked in ACV for 10 minutes. She started yelling at me at this point. Once I was done spraying her down with ACV, I started the bath tub so she could soak in it with 2 cups of ACV added to the bath water for another 25 minutes. After the bath soak, she dried and got dressed. We took pictures of the welts to show her doctor for an emergency office visit she schedule. I asked her if the itching and symptoms were gone and she agreed. The hives never came back and she showed her doctor the pictures of her skin. She told him what I had done to her and the doctor said: Your friend saved your life!

Medicated Foot Powder for Stops Itching From Hives

Renee (Boston) on 09/14/2022
5 out of 5 stars

I started getting urticaria hives about a year ago, around the same time I developed rheumatoid arthritis - so I believe it's an auto immune dysfunction in my body. The doctors only prescribe Zyrtec, which doesn't work. I thought mine were caused from ibuprophen so I stopped taking that but still got hives anyway. I get them 2x a week but can go 2 weeks without so I have no idea what triggers them. I just started lysine this week but woke up with a swollen face today, upper lip and cheeks. So not sure if lysine is working, it's only been 3 days though.

Last week I had giant hives all over my legs and they itched horribly. I tried witch hazel, cortisone cream and aloe, no relief. I remembered that I used medicated foot powder on my dog's itchy skin and it stopped her itching and calmed all the redness down. It worked for my hives! I wish I could stop them from coming in the first place but for now I have a way to stop the itch. My face and lips don't itch, only the other parts of my body that get the hives. I'd rather them there and itch than have such a swollen face that you can't go out in public because you look like a monster.

Try the foot powder or jock itch powder, I think any medicated powder will work. I'm going to try AC vinegar and baking soda to see if that helps. I'll update and let you know if lysine works too.

Borax and DMSO Worked Fast to Cure Hives and Bee Sting Swelling

Renee (Boston) on 05/23/2022
5 out of 5 stars

After reading on here for days I decided to pick and choose several remedies from various people that I thought may seem to work for my arthritis. One of them was the use of a combination of Borax with a mixing cream, rubbing it into sore spots and then adding DMSO on top. So I have been doing that to inflamed areas for about a week. I am not sure if that is reducing my inflammation or the internal use of Borax or the combo but that isn't the reason for this post.

The reason I am writing is because the Borax/cream/DMSO appears to have extreme healing properties! I suffer from chronic urticaria on top of the arthritis. I get giant hives weekly and take antihistamines for it. Regardless of how many antihistamines I take, the hive usually lasts at least 24 hours. The other day I put the mixed concoction and added DMSO to the hive before bed (it had just appeared that evening). By the morning it was gone!!! This has never happened! The hive is always there until about 24 hours have passed.

On top of that, I was stung by a bee yesterday. I usually get a big red itchy swelling for days after. The sting started to itch and burn right away as usual. I ran in, did the same thing I did to the hive and within 5 minutes the sting was gone!!! I find this to be a miracle. I am still amazed by this. I am not exaggerating. This worked really fast!

When I get a chance I will find the recipe I followed and update here.

Niacin Rush for Hives

Niacin Rush for Hives

Your article on niacin is timely. In 2013, I had hives so badly for months that I could barely function. Back then, my cure ended by just one good niacin rush [300ml]. Recently, I presumed it was fleas, so attacked that idea for weeks, when I then realized, NO, it's hives! I then took 300 ml. niacin, got an itchy rush, did it again a few days later, started to slowly recover. Then, a week later, BY ACCIDENT, I took 1000milligrams!! I survived it better than I thought, & now days later, I believe my full-body hives are seriously on their way OUT! True that I had to bear with rather uncontrollable itching for 1.5 hrs. via the niacin, but that's it. I'm SO relieved this idea occurred to me as a possible way to flush my skin. I was in hell. I hope this helps someone else!

Had terrible hives nearly everyday for a year. Now they are gone. I took a basic probiotic for a few weeks and also avoided gluten. Apparently my hives were a gut issue. Wheat seems to be a trigger, bit a wheat free diet alone didn’t rid me of hives. Wish I had known about this earlier! A short course of probiotics was a very simple fix.

Have had problems with chronic Urticaria for 4 years mainly because at first I was fermenting and eating A LOT of veggies, yogurt and whatever I felt like fermenting (had a period!) Alcohol was also part of it for often, summer equals COLD BEER!

After all this time my face was pretty messed up, had the hives all over, to a point where it looked scary!. So of course I started reading about it and wanted a permanent solution, one that was SIMPLE, SHORT and EFFICIENT. I tried many things, all I could find really but without satisfaction. Then I started reading about the enzyme "diamine oxidase" which digests histamines and looked it up on amazon, but living in Canada I found it absolutely unaffordable! So I turned to the one thing that always got me out of trouble, I focused on the body's wisdom to fabricate the enzyme itself. So to shorten a long story here is what I did: I eat 3 bites of food at a time and wait till the stomach gargles again before I eat another 3 bites (about two to three hours). I try to avoid the high histamine foods without being too strict about it for it takes a little histamines for the metabolism to kick in and produce the enzyme. I eat a bit of Olive Oil (two to three tsp/day) to stimulate the production of Diamine Oxidase. Taking “BIO K” yogourt, just a small tea spoon two to three times/day (keep a minute underneath the tong.) as well as: Histaminum 30 ch to desensitize histamines. Apis Mellifica 9 ch for itches and Allium Cepa for nose leaks from histamines outside. STOP all supplements for three days. Much better after 3 days though always a bit worst at night. Started taking D, K 2, Iodine, Calcium and Magnesium again, eating small meals for a while and adding lemon juice or apple cider vinegar (two TBSP) with 1/8 tsp of Bicarbonate in a glass of water.

UPDATE

A month now after this small effort, I have no more hives... GONE! I can have a drink here and there but for as long as I keep my electrolytes balanced and I don't exaggerate on the fun, skin remains clear. I also eat all I want, no more diet. If you want to try it and need help, just ask it will be my pleasure ! :)

Take care Sunshine

Castor Oil for Hives

Gail Canto (Colorado) on 08/18/2018
5 out of 5 stars

hi, nice post, Della from Karratha (2010). I also have suffered from hives since May 2013 on and off, the first time it was almost unbearable huge symmetrical welts all around my body, and histamine sitting in huge wads under my skin burning, CDs is nearly always symmetrical, it shows up quickly and within minutes you are feeling crazy in your head, so u have to act real quick, I did research fast and did a bunch of different things to help it, I have lots to offer in helping this condition and am just actually dealing with an outbreak this last three weeks or so, so I have several different options to help.

Water either very hot or very cold will numb the hives down. If I had it on the bottoms of my feet I could tame it by resting them on ice packs for 20-30 mins, or a red hot bath with a bit of olive oil and blended rolled oats to make my own colloidal oatmeal, 45 mins bath time. Recommended though, quite tiring, I had 8 baths a night sometimes.

I had hives for 8.5 months straight the first time, couldn't drive to town too risky, if I had an outbreak it would be unbearable, Benadryl was never efficient enough and toxic on the skin, helped mildly, so I bought some ph testing paper and started testing several times a day. My ph was yellow, down to 5.5. That's a dangerous level.

I felt really worn out, so I started taking baking soda, 1/2 tsp in a glass if after, frozen mugs recommended here, it goes down very soothingly and does kill it. Baking soda is 14 pH so alkalizes pretty quickly.

Sugar needs to be cut out and preservatives, I tried all sorts, this time I'm doing black seed oil. It stopped immediately when taking 3 a day. Garlic is also a natural antihistamine, for sore skin.

I recommend castor oil or aloe gel fresh from the plant, I agree in all the castor oil benefits that Della has said below and I use it every day of my life, in eyes, to dissolve warts, even on pets, Palma Christi is a miracle, Gods miracle.

For skin cancer prevention, just rub some neat on the skin, I use it on my face every day. It's great on and around eyes and in for dry eyes, I cured an eye infection in a horse with this. It has the ability to pull lipomas and tumors when used as a wrap with flannel cloth and warmed oil, internally can be dangerous and one castor bean alone can kill a person.

Yes, castor oil also helps arthritis when rubbed in joints and kills skin cancer, warts, moles etc., apply consistently several times a day, tape it on warts at night with paper tape, and praise God for all he created for food, it is good.

In a pinch I take certified cheap 10mg allergy relief tablets, they work within minutes and help for 48 hours flat but wear you out, make you more sleepy and dry you out, drink tons of water, probiotics, stay away from sauces and condiments with soy oil, colors, corn syrup, etc., in, herbal teas also help, nettle tea! Baking soda in the bath works too.

Histamine Intolerance and Hives

Histamine Intolerance and Hives

I am a super "healthy"and fit person with unending skin issues. I have standard contact eczema, pomphlyx/dysdriotic eczema and hives and now also PMLE (sun poisoning after being on antibiotics for an infection.

I've found over the years that I need to have a predominantly organic diet with no preservatives or chemicals to control skin issues. I of course had cortisone (limited length of release), antihistamines (work great- but will eventually cause dementia:( I don't like taking pharmaceuticals unless necessary.

I was taking ACV for a virulent UTI. It worked great for ousting the UTI, BUT, I got hives all over for a month. It turns out I am HISTAMINE INTOLERANT and need to follow a histamine restricted diet. No vinegars, cultured foods like yoghurt, Kim chi, Kombucha, aged cheese, alcohol -especially red wine etc. It's a daunting list of restrictions but I am so thankful I finally know why despite being "healthy" that I am so sick, chronically inflamed, brain fog, Sore joints, allergies, etc.

Being histamine intolerant, most things that I considered super foods and natural healing protocols Made me much more sick.

E.g. These contributed to my hives (and eczema) cacao, sauerkraut, probiotics with certain strains of lactobacillus (which really sucks because all of us with severe skin issues need to heal our guts! ); bone broth (because it is out to long); pulses; turmeric! ; cinnamon; nutmeg etc etc. All of these I thought were beneficial, but they were contributing to my illness.

Leftover food is not good for histamine intolerant people.

DAO enzymes are essential to heal histamine intolerance.

please look up HISTAMINE INTOLERANCE. I was so surprised not to find it on Earth Clinic because this is my go to site where I have discovered many miraculous cures. (Thanks Earth Clinic! )

I found many great sites on this topic. Dr. Jockers and Self Hacked websites come to mind. Mercola only had one article on it.

I'm still in the midst of healing, but I am so thankful to finally know what is wrong with me. Everything I researched fit me to a T, and now I know I can heal completely. Its truly empowering knowing that. But be prepared, it's a very restricted diet.

BTW. I found when my itchiness was out of control, the only thin to relieve the itch was to run my hands, or take a shower in almost scalding water. Immense relief when I was almost crying from the itch. I researched it, and found that many others experienced relief like me. I've been doing it for a long time and put Vaseline or Aquaophor on afterwards along with white cotton gloves on my hands (bought on Amazon).

Good luck to all of you!

Tiger Balm Helping Chronic Case of Hives

TIGER BALM (White)

My hives are "Heat induced" aka Cholinergic Urticaria

It is important in TCM terms to differentiate if hives are heat or Cold induced. As it indicates the body type.

Hives were very bad for many weeks. I tried all things - Salt water flush, spirulina, charcoal tablets, hot hair dryer, antihistamines only help some temporarily but did not fix it. Cold water shower help awhile.

1 fine day I reach out for Tiger Balm (White color, Not red) ointment remembering cold water shower works n tiger balm is cooling menthol like, n applied on both my legs as they were itching badly at night. Rub over with some water after that. Within few minutes felt circulation hips down n so relieved stop itching!

Woke up next morning n realised the fat red bumps on my legs were all tamed and flattened! Tried on right arm later on. By night it is ok too. Left arm was still flaming. So it works!

So far this is 4th day and all is tamed n recovering from the reds. I do it twice a day after shower or whenever I feel itch.

I also ate cheese which it contains alot of LYSINE as it might be gut related imbalanced as read on Earth Clinic HIVES column.

So.. hope this finds someone n works for u! Good luck!

Hydrogen Peroxide for Hives

Anon (Anon) on 10/03/2017

I got hives for the first time ever. I'm 38. I think from a bottle of wild oregano oil. I put some under my arms to see if it could be used for deodorant. Yes! But then I noticed itchy bumps on my arm inside my elbow. Thinking back I also got itchy bumps on my face and scalp from it. I have used the same brand before without issue so dunno what happened. Anywho. This morning more hives on my hip and waist and on my lower legs, too.

I've been scrubbing with a washcloth soaked with 3% hydrogen peroxide on the hives on my legs and they are nearly gone. The hives on my hips and waist are still there. So yay! for hydrogen peroxide for hives. :)

Diatomaceous Earth Helping Chronic Hives

Audreyb (Canada) on 07/25/2017

I have been using 1 teaspoon a day with water of diatomaceous earth. I have developed food intolerances, hives almost every night for 7 months. I also started a colon cleanse and feel better and more regular, but it is the chronic hives that disappear when I take diatomaceous earth at night.

It has no flavour but tastes like clay, but I feel it is very healing on my intestinal tract. It is 10:40pm and normally I am heading for the kitchen to get an antihistamine, but not tonight.

I just discovered it at the health food store. This is day 4 and I can't believe how I feel. My excema has greatly improved as well. It has really helped my skin problems. It cleans your blood and strengthens your organs. It removes toxic waste and harmful bacteria from your system.

My 14 year old daughter has hives all over her body that won't go away. Especially under hot sun. Antibiotics healed the hives only for a while. She tried the Habatus Saudah ( black seed) oil in capsule, 500mg, 2 capsules a day before sleep and has managed to control d breakouts. If she stops the treatment, slowly the hives will return. She's not fully cured but it has helped her tremendously. Hopefully this can help others too.I bought d habatus saudah from shops selling middle eastern food and alternative medicines in my country.

Dietary Changes and Other Remedies Helped Hives

I have been suffering from Idiopathic Uticaria (hives) for 3 years. A year ago I had the worse case, I was getting ready in case I went into an anaphylactic attack. No allergist, no dermatologist, no doctor helped. I went for three weeks to Weimar institute in Northern California, I change my diet to No oils, except for some olive oil, no animal fats, (became a vegetarian) no Refine sugars or flours, Cold and hot showers, exercise, clear air and sunshine, lots of water drinking, relaxation and spiritual meditation. I have lost Over 5 pounds and the hives after three months on this diet, or better, life style went away.I did use alovera gel to calm them down, it was the only thing that gave me relief and the antihistamine Zyrtec. I am afraid to leave the Zyrtec although I do not have the hives now. I think I like to try the ACV just in case it can help me to give up the antihistamine. Any suggestions?

Fasting for Urticaria (Hives)

A Bitter Sweet Cure of my Urticaria:

I've had chronic urticaria for the past six months. One day I just broke out in huge hives and welts on legs, thighs, buttocks and other places including face and lips. Hives mainly came up in the mornings when I'm about to get up. They are very itchy for around half an hour, then for the rest of the day they basically disappear.

I had a fall down my front steps several weeks ago, I hurt my ankle and back, ended up in hospital overnight and during that time I didn't eat for 24 hours. The only thing I had the next day was a cup of weak black tea. From the day I left hospital, I've only had a couple of very small hives one or two days, but now they have completely disappeared. That was seven weeks ago.

I feel having that 24 hour fast has changed the metabolism of my system which has resulted in curing my urticaria.

This could have been a blessing in disguise and could be helpful to others with the same issues.

Hives:

I am peri menopausal and read about estrogen dominance, where the liver is too taxed to process other enzymes, namely sugar, and so it pushes it out through the skin resulting in hives. What a nightmare, indeed. I have been on a no sugar diet (including natural sugars in fruit) & avoiding high histamine foods and after having a recent cheat and break out, Apple Cider Vinegar has certainly been a lifesaver.

Hives Cured by Detox

Steve (Alaska) on 02/09/2016
5 out of 5 stars

My experience with hives began June of 2015. UV light on a hot, sunny day reacted with the warfarin that I take and caused the typical red welts and extreme itching on my forearms, neck and one ankle. The reaction may have been to the dye used in warfarin.

The dermatologist was useless. What worked for me was apple cider vinegar, activated charcoal capsules, and coconut oil. I also used supplements of DAO Histaminase and Quercetin. Cold ice packs on the affected skin followed with coconut oil helps reduce the itching.

It is my belief that hives isn't caused by a particular food or substance per se. Rather, these things function as a trigger to an overloaded immune system that is dealing with a lot of toxins in the body. I am 67 and have had time to accumulate a lot of toxins. As the charcoal and ACV cleaned out the toxins, the rash and itching went away.

Detox will be a regular practice for me from now on.
