ALA, NAC, Milk Thistle, Selenium Cured Hep C

Dee (United States) on 12/19/2021

20+ years ago I was diagnosed and treated for Hep C. At the end of my treatment, tests still showed infection, and that it would most likely come back years later. After starting a regimen of ALA, NAC, Milk Thistle and Selenium I no longer show any infection - and the "professionals" said testing would always show an infection, even if my viral load level was below 10 (it was over 1 millions when I started treatment).

I still take these supplements today and have recently added Sam-E. Don't know if it would work for everyone, but it sure worked for me!

When I was young about 17 or 18 I was partying hard and had a lot of fun, a little too much if you ask me.

Anyway fast forward to today. I ended up getting hep c virus from doing drugs. I had the virus for about 22 years. I am clean and sober now days but If I had half a brain when was younger well you know. As soon as I found out that I had hep c I gave up drinking, alcohol speeds up the replication of the virus.

I started taking bht 250 mg. Anyway I take it twice a day morning and at night 250 mg for a total of 500 mg.

Started bht in 2017. I started to feel better inside and out. I was able to get up off my couch and do things and was not sleeping my life away. My doctor wanted to check my hcv blood levels.

I just got the results back. quantitative test is 343,000 qualitative was Undetected Doctors usually consider a viral load over 800,000 IU/ml as high. A low viral load would be less than 800,000 IU/ml. If a quantitative test indicates undetectable viral particle levels, but the qualitative test detects HCV, it means that a person has extremely low levels of HCV in the bloodstream.

The numbers are looking very good and I will keep up with my bht treatment. I am not taking anything else but D3 and Calcium and zinc.

I take zinc to boost my immune system. Also I read online that drinking coffee will help your liver function better and it stops the hep c virus from replicating. Also when I feel a cold coming on I take some vitamin c. Almost forgot the most important thing to take, drink lot's of water.

I just wanted to say hang in there everyone.

BHT for Hep C

Worked Temporarily

Like Pandora's post below from 8/5/2015, same thing with me. I went from 7.5 million in 2016 to 500,000 viral load 7 months ago. This month I'm at 1.5 million. I've been doing the BHT, Monolauren pellets and other supplements for years and I'm still hep c positive. Harvony and Viekira didn't work.

BTW, I didn't take BHT on an empty stomach and I've been taking too much Vitamin E. My mistake and I think I may have been my own worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and get plenty of choline in your diet.

BHT Hep C Treatment, Yet Toxic to the Liver?

John Del (Okc) on 09/17/2020

I've read about how BHT can be toxic to the liver. How can someone take it for hep c if it hurts the liver? I've discontinued my treatment until I find out. Also, some say to take BHT aa a stand alone treatment and to not take it with milk thistle but I'd like to know WHY. I'm doing the Alpha Lipolic Acid and milk thistle regime but I'd like to continue with BHT as soon as I get these questions answered. Thank you in advance.

Schizandra and Milk Thistle to Treat Hepatitis

Warren (Tennessee) on 12/11/2018

In 1997, I contracted Hep C from transfusions. Early the next year I finally found the identification of a vine I'd found in the deep woods years before. It is Schizandra glabra (the American species, not chinensis, the Asian species). I read that the Chinese use their species to treat hepatitis, so I started eating the berries/seeds daily, by the handful. I picked and froze a few quarts for a few months' supply. A month later, I found Milk Thistle seeds and added them, about a teaspoon powdered, twice a day. Three months later my hepatologist said there was "not a viral body to be found". I have been Hep C free ever since.

Onions Instead of BHT for Hepatitis

Anon (Usa) on 07/09/2018

Mercola has an article https://foodfacts.mercola.com/onion.html that says onions have greater antioxidant and antimutagenic activity than BHT. If anyone wants to test their hepatitis status against onion I would be curious to know the result.

BHT for Hepatitis C

Skywatcher (South Padre Island) on 07/21/2016

I've been taking BHT treatment for 6 weeks. 250mg and 500mg 12 hours apart. Keep in mind I have already done 12 weeks Harvoni with no evidence of cure. Then I was prescribed 12 weeks Viekera with the same results. During these treatments I was not told to not take large doses of vitamin E . I was taking 400 plus I.U. per day. Given that this link suggests that vitamin e protects the lipid coated hep c viron from immune system attack, it may well explain why my Harvoni and viekera treatments were unsuccessful.

So I've been taking BHT without the large supplement regimen. My last liver panel showed 50% increase in ALT and AST levels. Since my ferritin level was 900. After a 1000 one's chance of getting cancer goes up 20 to 200 fold. I was taking 500mg IP-6 3x/day. Could be toxic to a compromised liver (hep c 1a ) viral load 7500000. contracted 1971. I'm going to try MONOLAUREN. I was bruising very easily after taking less than 200mg c. I now take 5 to 10 grams california gold 1000mg caps Qualli-c. WOW, good stuff. No runnies.

Going to take lysine, chanca piedra, lapoic acid, nac, d3, k2, colodial silver, coral calcium for increasing ph, magnesium malate, selenium and a high quality multiple.

I'm 63, walk an hour every day and work out at the gym twice a week. I take citrulline to prevent the stink of ammonia away. A doctor would prescribe lactalose but that stuff will give you the runnies. I consume an average of 90 grams protein so I have to take the citrulline because of a cirrhotic liver.

I took BHT for 3 months in 2014 and my viral load decreased from 1.5MM to 1MM. I was really hopeful. I took BHT for a year every day and when I got my viral load count this month its at 2.6MM. I am done with natural cures and am going with Harvoni this year.

Oscar's BHT Hepatitis Treatment

Shelby (San Francisco, California) on 07/28/2015
5 out of 5 stars

Dear Oscar,

I am a petite 115-120 pound woman. I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C type 1a in 2006; my viral load was 1,001,530; AST:53; ALT:99. (I believe I contracted it in 1998.)

On 12/12/2012 my viral load was 5,450,000; AST:45; ALT:99.

On 12/04/2013 my viral load was 8,980,000; AST:45; ALT: 95.

In January 2014 I started taking two BHT 180 mg with ascorbyl palmitate 80mg capsules (BHT Plus) on an empty stomach for a total of 360 mg BHT twice daily (720 mg/day).

On January 9,2015 my viral load was 1,990,000; AST:58; ALT:103.

I am concerned about the form of BHT I take because it contains ascorbyl palmitate which is apparently a fat soluble form of Vitamin C. I'm worried that the antioxidant effects of the ascorbyl palmitate might hamper some of the antiviral effects of the BHT. I take that form because it is the only form of BHT that my health food store and my on-line vitamin company carry.

I ordered a different brand on the internet (from Vitamin Research Products) containing BHT 350 mg, but when I opened the bottle, the strange smell of the capsules scared me. The smell was a strong, unpleasant chemical smell. I don't know if BHT normally has a smell, but the BHT with ascorbyl palmitate has virtually no smell so I stuck with that after smelling the terrible odor of the other brand.

Thank you, Oscar, for the information about BHT. I was so hopeless for so long. Finding your posts in late 2013 brought hope back into my life. By the way, the horrendous Herpes outbreaks I used to suffer have miraculously disappeared since being on the BHT. However, as I said, I still wonder about the efficacy of the product containing ascorbyl palmitate for the Hep C, and I am not sure I am taking the right dose. I am willing to try a different form of the BHT without the ascorbyl palmitate on your recommendation. And, does BHT normally have a strong smell?

Thank you,

Shelby

Going to Document BHT Journey for Hep C

Jay (London, England) on 06/13/2015

I am posting here for the first time. I was diagnosed with Hep C on 06/10/2015. It was, of course a shock to me, as I am generally in very good health. I do not have a viral load number but my ALT is 35 and AST is 40. I have an appointment with a specialist in 5 weeks. I assume that they will perform tests to get further information I.e genotype, viral load etc. Anyway upon receiving this news I immediately started researching cures and stumbled across this forum. I ordered a bottle of BHT.. It is due to arrive in a couple of days. I intend to post extremely detailed results on a monthly basis to document my progress on this regimen. I will also keep people posted on any good or bad side effects that I have once I begin BHT.

New Drugs for Hep C: Harvoni

Id (Edmonton, Alberta ) on 05/13/2015

I finish my 12 wk course of Harvoni in the first week of June. I started with a viral load of 359,000 in the first week of March. My viral load was 27 (yep...that is correct) in the first week of April. I will do another test the first week of June . The definitive answer to see if the virus has been cured will happen 12 wks after the final dose in the first week of September.

The company (Gilead) that produced the drug Harvoni initially listed minor side effects: headache, nausea & insomnia. They have now updated their site to reflect some lessor known side effects that I personally have experienced. My worst side effects occurred after the first week which I contributed to being healthier than most people in this program. At the current time my side effects are: severe congestion, bloat & easily tired. All worth it if I am cleared of this virus that I got from tainted blood during a surgery in 1976 when Bill Clinton, president of the blood board at that time, approved blood donations from prisoners in Arkansas...what?

I have been mostly organic with lots of supplements so I have not been as sick as most people that have had Hep C this long with viral counts in the millions.

If you are trying to decide whether or not to take this drug which costs about $75,000 for a 3 month course ( my insurance company: manulife covered it...bless this company for doing this) I would strongly advise this treatment as it is only 1 pill per day with or without food, with or without alcohol so your lifestyle does not have to change.

I hope this helps someone who is undecided. I will let you know if I am cleared in September.

BHT for Hepatitis C

Tobique (Simcoe, Ontario, Canada) on 05/08/2015

I have been taking 1000 mg of BHT every night before bed on an empty stomach, I take nothing else , till next morning I take 10 mg rabeprazole vitamin b complex B-100 and 250 mg of DMG. its been a year and my hep c reading before AST 113 ALT 217 viral load 3.54 x10 to the 6th

After one year AST 42 ALT 61 viral load 3.7E+6 .

If I read the first reading for viral load correctly it was 3,540,000 and now it's 3,700,000. an increase, but the AST and ALT has been steadly decreasing.

What am I doing wrong?

Is BHT Sufficient to Treat Hep-C, Genotype 2?

Samij....ab (Calgary, Alberta) on 02/23/2015

Hi, I just want to thank all of you for this site. I was diagnosed with Hep C genotype 2 this past December and have a viral load of over 5 million. My abdomen has started to swell and my blood pressure is rising. Will BHT help with these symptoms or should I be taking complimentary products also?

My support system seems to have shut down right in front of my face. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
