I have suffered from heavy periods all my life. Had anemia few years ago and had to see a GI. He did an endoscopy and colonoscopy which all came back good. He said it was likely from my menstrual cycles and to start birth control. I did not want to do birth control. It led me here. I have an 8 day cycle with heavy flow the first 5 days. The flow is so heavy that I have to wear a pull up and line the pull up with 3 heavy pads in a line from front to back to avoid staining myself. I have to change them frequently. The last 2 of my cycles I decided to eat pineapple. I went to the store and bought several cans of 20 oz pineapple slices in pineapple juice. The ingredients listed are only pineapple and pineapple juice. I ate/drank 2 cans in the morning. I noticed that my flow was less on day 2 and didnt have to use a diaper or so many pads. On day 3 still had cycle and not as much flow. On day 4 could use a liner. I know that this will now be something I do each month and will start a day or two prior to starting my period. I have shared this with my sister who also suffers from heavy flow. She also has noticed a decrease in flow. So relieved this helped me and wanted to share with others who might benefit. Thank you Earthclinic!
