Prenatal Hydronephrosis Remedies Needed

E (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) on 05/24/2022

Hi,

I am 26weeks pregnant with my third baby and have been having bad back pain. I had an ultrasound and was told because of the way the baby is sitting I have severe hydronephrosis (fluid around my kidneys)

There are no kidney stones or obstructions. Is there anything I can do at home to help this?

I searched your site n cannot find any info. Why are iron infusions becoming popular especially during pregnancies? N then it seems for some reason they need them again after the pregnancy? Could there be an underlying issues not be considered n the answer is just give infusions?? I do not trust the medical/big pharma industry B.S., am I wrong? Something is just not right with these iron infusions to me. Am I right to suspect.

Tips for Pregnancy Nausea

Whisperingsage (Northern California) on 09/01/2015

Some studies show nausea during pregnancy can be caused by low progesterone levels- progesterone is your important pregnancy hormone- You can get a progesterone cream over the counter at a health food store- do not accidentally pick up estriol- it is estrogen- when the baby is ready to come out estrogen levels rise quickly and contractions begin.

Magnesium deficiency also can cause nausea in pregnancy as can B6 deficiency- when you take one B, take the whole complex- B50 at Walmart even- should help. 400 mg of Magnesium also- if you can't keep mag down, take a warm bath in epsom salts- magnesium sulfate- it will absorb through the skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Gall Bladder Attack in Pregnancy

Amber (Delaware) on 08/27/2015

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with a gallbladder full of stone's about a month ago. When my attacks hit, I feel it right under my breast bone and wraps around my upper abdomen starting on the right side. The pain is about a 8-10 on the pain scale. I feel like my breathing is labored and I start to scream it gets so bad. I felt one coming on about an hour ago and quickly Google remedies online. Found one for ACV. It said add apple juice as well, but I was so desperate for relieve, I took 2 gulps straight from the bottle and although the pain went to a 9 on the pain scale and it was almost unbearable, it didn't last more than 10 minutes (longest 10 minutes of my life! But my first one lasted 2 hours, which caused me to go to the hospital and the second last about half hour) I HIGHLY recommend ACV!! It really works!!

Re: Prenatal Vitamins

Diana (Tn, Usa) on 03/05/2014

I was wondering what essential vitamins are absolutely needed to take during pregnancy? I've always had a weird sensitivity to supplements. I end up feeling dizzy and often get headaches. I know that I need to take some, but taking my prenatal vitamins just aren't worth feeling bad all the time.

Magnesium During Pregnancy

Alexa (New York) on 01/29/2014

I am 7 months pregnant, and I was wondering if taking magnesium supplements is safe during pregnancy? I read the following post:

02/05/2013: Pgrace from Hamilton, N replies: "Castor oil acts on baby as well. It can cause your child to expel meconium while in the womb, which is an aspiration risk. I would find something safer to use during pregnancy and labour."

and it made me wonder if magnesium could cause the same risk of the baby expelling meconium in the womb since magnesium tends to have a bowel loosening effect?

Relief from Pregnancy Sickness

Rae (Rochester, Mn) on 08/17/2013

Relief from pregnancy sickness: I've used ginger capsules in the past, but felt that they sometimes made me feel worse instead of better. I love the following green drink for pregnancy sickness and am getting relief for the first time. Too bad I didn't know about this three pregnancies ago!

  • 1 c. any green leafy vegetable
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 inch of FRESH ginger (has to be fresh)
  • 1/4 c. or so of FRESH parsley (has to be fresh)
  • Juice of one or two limes (I use bottled lime juice as well if I don't have fresh limes on hand)
  • 1 or 2 organic apples or 1/2 c. to 1 c. organic applesauce

I blend this in my Vitamix blender and store in 1/2 c. containers in the fridge. I drink some first thing in the morning and whenver I start to feel cruddy. I never leave the house without it. It has worked wonders for me. I hope it helps you!!!

Note: The recipe sounds gross, but it has a surprisingly fresh taste to it that I quickly became accustomed to.

My husband and I have a lot of problems with sore muscles--neck, back, sciatic nerves, etc. We take arnica (homeopathic) tablets for pain and use arnica massage oil. It really helps! This pregnancy (#4), I have taken 1 or 2 arnica tablets every night and have had the least problems with leg cramps of all my pregnancies.

Evening Primrose Helped Promote Labor

Jen (Bozeman, Mt, Us) on 11/02/2011

I wanted to share my experience with taking evening primrose to get labor started and make it much easier for mothers. I have delivered 5 children. The first four were very long difficult labors that I was never able to start on my own. I had to be induced with each of my first four children. My first labor was terribly long and painful. 3 days of intense (sleepless) contractions and I went to my doctor each day and only dilated to a 1.5. It was torture. My doctor ended up inducing me with pitocin which now that I am older I understand causes terrible pain and stressful labors. My second was very similar and so on with the next two. It was with my fifth labor that my cousin who believes in natural remedies suggested that I start taking evening primrose to help prepare my cervix for labor. I started taking it at about 37 weeks pregnant as I didn't want to jump start my labor to soon just in case. I really didn't think it would do much with me since I apparently have a very stuborn cervix and uterus but I was willing to try anything after four terrible labors. I took it two to three times a day for 2 1/2 weeks. When I went in for my 40 week appointment I was blown away when my doctor said I was dilated to a 3. I had never ever dilated past a 2 on my own and that was when I was 2 weeks overdue. Now I am at a 3 a few days before I am even due. I had noticed a few mild contractions throughout the days but nothing that was what I considered painful. I continued to take the evening primrose and was having mild contractions the day of my sons due date. I had never gone this far without help so I was completely lost. Late that night I asked my husband to take me in cuz I felt different. We went in and I just about had a heart attack when the nurse said I had dialated on my own to a 6. It was awesome. I ended up delivering in a total of 6 hours after feeling the first "uncomfortable" labor pains. That was more than 3 times less than my previous deliveries. I love evening primrose and still take it during my menstral cycle for pain.

Coconut Oil Use During Pregnancy

Shannabelle (Gilbert, Arizona, Usa) on 08/02/2011

I am 7 months pregnant and would like to start taking EVCO internally. I currently use it externally as a moisturiser, and after reading all of the wonderful posts testifying to the great overall results, I would like to know if it would be safe for me to begin ingesting it. I am 34, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I eat a pretty healthy diet of fruit, veggies and some meat. I would like to get all of the toxins out of my body using EVCO befor the birth of my son. I plan to breastfeed and I would love to be as healthy as possible to ensure that he has the very best from me internally as well as externally. I would also like to know if it would be safe to use as a moisturizer on my newborn.

I stumbled upon this site accidentally five days ago and since then I have become a sponge. I absolutely love the community of people sharing their personal experiences with virtual strangers. Thank you all for giving your time and effort to help people be as healthy as can be the way the good Lord intended.

Morning Tonic While Pregnant

Cyndi (Asheville, Nc, Usa) on 06/29/2011
5 out of 5 stars

Hi, I am 10 weeks pregnant and have been making a 'morning tonic' with molasses, organic apple cider vinegar and honey. I got the okay from my midwife who said that women have been giving birth for 1000s of years and have been taking ACV, molasses and honey for 1000s of years. It is safe. I feel like I have so much more energy making my morning tonic, too.

Here's my tonic:

In a cup of warm water I add:

1 tbsp organic apple cider vinegar (I use _____'s)

2 tbsp raw honey

1 tbsp molasses

I don't know if this is helping, but so far I have had NO morning sickness, very little dizziness, and feel much more energetic througout the day.

I also make a tea of raspberry leaves, lemon balm and plantain leaf in the evening. The raspberry leaves are said to help inhibit morning sickness, and help your body to create a strong amniotic sac to carry the baby to term; it also has a lot of calcium - a critical need during pregnancy. The lemon balm is soothing. The plantain leaf contains lots of B vitamins and is considered "poor man's spinach" - haha, I pick it out of my yard!

Hope that helps!

Pregnancy, Apple Cider Vinegar and Blood Sugar Levels

Kellie (Frisco, Tx) on 10/18/2010
5 out of 5 stars

Found Earth Clinic a year ago and love this site!! Thank you!! Have had pregnancy diabetes for my past 2 preg. Now I've over 40 and preg with my 3rd. Started having problems again at the end of 1st trimester. Really watched what I ate... no refined carbs, no sweets, nothing but protein for breakfast or else sugars would go as high as 165 and I'd be dizzy/sick. Had to keep carbs below 60g a day and even then couldn't eat them all at once. In middle of 2nd trimester had to cut back even more. So I started Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) with Dr. 's permission. (But what Dr wouldn't be OK with an amount equal to what most put on a salad?) (2 tea in 8oz of water 2x's a day... Empty stomach. )

After 1 week, tested it with a piece of whole wheat toast at breakfast with my usual eggs/cheese/bacon. Before it would have made me dizzy and I'd be up above 150 an hour after eating. It was only 140. WONDERFUL!!!! Now I'm only 6 weeks from my due date. I can eat a piece of pizza for dinner, or a hotdog for lunch with the bun! I even can have a bit of sugar in my ice tea or a few bites of apple pie. I can have a few bites of a chocolate bar too!!! None of this was possible before! My sugar's now are very stable. They never go above 140 an hour after a meal and 2hrs after they are down around 110. ACV seems to have a compounding effect. The longer I'm on it the more often I can eat carbs. I can now have a bit of pasta or a piece of pizza or wheat toast every day! I still can't eat more than 1/2 slice of wheat toast at breakfast, but that's OK. I can eat almost anything I want in moderation!! It's made life wonderful! As we all know preg women have lots of cravings. I can indulge in anything, just in moderation. This is great!!!! Another effect that is more subtle is the swelling. I gain a LOT of weight while pregnant (40lbs usually). But, I eat very healthy, and the weight goes on at 1 pound a week. But, that's still a lot of weight. After 2wks on ACV I noticed my body seemed less 'puffy' and I went 2 weeks without gaining any weight. It's hard to explain, but preg women should know what I mean. I have no swelling in my feet or arms unless I sit for hours. People who've seen me during my other preg's constantly comment how great I look during this one. My Dr. Is impressed each time I see him. Yes, it is work and I have to be really good and never miss a dose of ACV. I also keep very close watch on what I eat. But, it is so worth it!!! I know I can control my sugars without drugs!!! It is a wonderful empowering feeling!!! Thank you for this great site Earth Clinic!!!
