Acidophilus for Bad Breath

Acidophilus:

This worked very well thanks! After brushing my teeth and using mouthwash, I then took one high strength probiotic capsule and mixed it into water. I swished it around my mouth and drank it. Then used my toothbrush to try and massage it in. Wife reported in the morning no more bad breath - breath is bad at night and in the morning for me when I awake.

Well, I don't know if you need to mix it in and swish it around your mouth but it worked :) I figure may as well try and improve the whole mouth flora at the same time.

Oregano and Olive Leaf Tea for Chronic Bad Breath

Janet in Music City (Nasvhille TN) on 11/16/2023

I am 67 years old and have had horrendous breath as long as I can remember. My husband also has had terrible breath for at least the last 15 years.

He was feeling poorly recently so I made us both a big cup of strong organic oregano and olive leaf tea. We had another the next day. We felt better and forgot all about it.

A couple of days later, we were talking and I realized I couldn't smell his bad breath, so I asked him to breath closer for me to smell. There was Nothing! He had been stinkin for a looooong time and his breath was suddenly normal. I passed it off as a fluke, but a couple of days later, I checked it again, and still normal, non-stinky breath!

I thought about the O and O tea and wondered if it had been the thing that fixed the problem, and it suddenly came to me that he hadn't drawn back from my stinky breath lately. So we tested my breath, and it was Good too! I'm still in shock, its been a few weeks and our breath is still clean and normal. I wish I had known about it 50 years ago, it would have made my life so much easier.

I'm figuring that the O and O tea killed bad bacteria, virus, candida, fungus, or parasites that were living in our stomachs, throats, lungs or somewhere causing the problem. Try it, and give us some feedback, please.

Ileocecal Valve Manipulation Cure for Bad Breath

Cara (UK) on 01/01/2023

I had bad breath on and off for years, tried all sorts of treatments with varying success. Sometimes it would clear up for a while but then it would come back. Anyway, recently I tried the ileocecal valve manipulation. It sounds complicated but don't be put off it's very simple. Google it and watch a you tube video on how to do this. The theory is that sometimes our ileocecal valve can get stuck and this allows bacteria and toxins back into our system and can cause a variety of symptoms one being bad breath.

The technique worked almost immediately and my overall health has also improved. I do this once a day most days, it takes a few minutes, try it, it worked for me.

Cranberry Extract for Severe Halitosis

Zulu gal (South Africa) on 09/23/2022

I have suffered from severe halitosis for close 10 years now and it has made my life a living hell. I have tried a plethora of different remedies, but nothing has worked for me, including the remedies that everyone on this site sings praises about - such as Hydrogen Peroxide, Probiotics, Liquid Chlorophyll, Activated Charcoal, etcetera. These help temporarily, but the stinky mouth and bad taste in the mouth always eventually return. After years of struggling to diagnose the root cause of the issue, I finally managed to pin it down to PND (post nasal drip). Managing chronic PND is expensive as it requires you to see a specialist and their rates are through the roof. Someone suggested I try cutting out gluten and dairy and perhaps going vegan to cure the issue but that wasn't feasible or affordable for me.

About a month ago, I started taking a cranberry extract (supplement) to help manage a recurring UTI and thrush problem - I swear I was getting vaginal thrush every single month. Lo and behold! Not only did the thrush and UTI issues disappear, but so did my halitosis! I was astonished! Especially because I wasn't even trying to cure the bad breath. Isn't that ironic? That I found a cure for my bad breath while attempting to treat a completely different health issue. I have no idea what's in cranberries that makes them completely get rid of bad odor. Even the little body odor I had has gone away. I don't even get morning breath! I will be forever grateful to cranberries for this. I had no idea that the solution to my problem was staring me in the face all along.

P.S. This solution works even better if you drink a lot of water (2 liters daily) and practice good oral hygiene. The solutions to all our health issues really can be found in nature!

Hydrogen Peroxide + Salt Sinus Irrigation Cured Bad Breath

Michael R (Edwardsville) on 04/05/2022

My BAD breath was not from the mouth but from the Nasal area. I suffered from very bad breath and the typical mouth-teeth treatment did not work.

I used a Neti Pot with Salt Water and a "small dash" of Hydrogen Peroxide to get rid of a sinus infection. A few weeks later my wife noticed my breath was OK. Thank God...

Important: use canning/pickling salt (no additives & cheap)

Grapefruit Seed Extract Works Miracles for Chronic Bad Breath (Halitosis)

Enrique (Boston, Ma) on 11/11/2018

I’ve had chronic halitosis my entire life. As the writer above Ive tried everything: I’ve taken Dr Katz stuff, taken probiotics orally, tried probiotic lozenges with Blis K12, Ted’s alkalizing rmedies, etc. I brush regularly twice a day, even did flossing and the same thing would happen. It would work in the beginning but then the bad breath would return within a few days. I also had a light whitish coating on my tongue that would not go away. I tried tongue scraping, and I made tongue brushing a part of my routine but that also didn’t help.

One this I noticed was hat when I took a course of antibiotics, for unrelated issues, the bad breath would go away and my tongue would be clean and pink. That was a clue that the problem was bacterial. The one routine that worked very well for me was brushing my teeth with a natural toothpaste, then putting some sea salt on the brush and brushing my tongue and then using diluted hydrogen peroxide (HP) as mouthwash and for gargling. That finally worked, but GSE has worked even better.

I stumbled upon GSE totally by accident. My mom was taking a course of three natural antibiotics. GSE, Caprylic Acid and Berberine Plus. I don’t know why I started to take them also and one day I noticed my afternoon bad breath was gone. I then went and purchased liquid GSE to take internally, but I hated the bitter taste. As an afterthought I decided to brush my teeth and tongue with it. I was amazed at how well it worked.

My routine now consists of brushing my teeth and tongue with natural toothpaste (I use Jason pharmaceuticals) and then using four drops of liquid GSE diluted with a little water as mouthwash. Its been four months now and I can’t recomend it enough. Doing this twice a day I have no morning breath and no bad breath throughout the day. I do notice at times in the afternoon it returns a bit if I don’t brush after lunch.

Chlorophyll for Bad Breath

Shamara (Provo, Utah ) on 10/04/2018

Everyone is mentioning liquid chlorophyll which the one I tried has too much of a strong taste. I take it in capsule form twice a day. There’s two brands I’ve tried- Nullo (amazon) and Natures Way (health food store). At the health food store I just asked for an “internal deodorant”. It took a couple of days to kick in but YAY!!! It works!! Not only for bad breath but all body odor! No more smelly pits at all, bad breath gone, even poop and farts have no odor ((sorry tmi)). As far as the bad breath goes- yes it’s not because bad oral hygiene. Love this stuff.

Also, after having a baby many moms are plagued with horrible BO — I seriously smelled like a skunk under my arms just a couple hours after showering:( soooooo relieved I can live a normal life now and not be embarrassed even in front of my husband.

Thank you all for your candid contributions. I started using activated charcoal capsule once a day and brush with activated tooth paste once a day as well. I found that people are no longer rubbing their noses or moving backward when talking to them.

I have been living with halitosis for 15 years until 2017 when the above remedy worked for me. Previously I have spent thousands of pounds with private dentist, had tooth extractions etc.

Thank you all.

Hydrogen Peroxide Gargle Made Bad Breath Worse, Any Idea Why?

I just tried hydrogen peroxide yesterday before sleeping for bad breath. 50% lukewarm water and 50% peroxide. I woke up with an even worse smell. If I weren´t sure of what it was like before, today I´m absolutely sure it smelled like feces. Did anybody here had a bad reaction at the beginning to get better later? Should I give it another try?

H. Pylori Link for Bad Breath

Djangolad (Beirut) on 09/27/2016

Hi all,

I want to share my experience with halitosis that has been with me since 6 years now. I wish I have stumbled to this forum a long time ago since I'm experiencing the exact similar symptoms. I read all about scraping the tongue, brushing teeth, flossing, hydrogen peroxide I never tried it but what I really know is that the problem lies within the stomach.

I went to a gastrointestinal specialist who prescribed me one pill of vermox for parasites treatment for one time in morning, followed by 2 pills of normix and 1 pill of flagyl each morning and evening for five days. At the time of taking the mediciations, my bad breath decreased enormously to null. After the treatment has finished, the bad breath came up again. It was really affecting my social life; when I wanted to talk to a person I keep a distance so he/she doesn't. Days went by and I started learning more when my bad breath is at its maximum, it is when my mouth is dry, almost all the time when I eat sugar or drink a cup of coffee, the dries after and the smell becomes even worse. Sometimes I feel liquid in my nose which I touch by my hand and it smelled. I don't know if you guys experienced this, but I didn't link it to the bad smell. Until one day 2 weeks ago I experienced a really unbearable stomachache at the top just below the chest bones.

I went to the family doctor who asked me to perform a breath test for H. pylori and take protective pills for my stomach &Gastropan. My breath test came out negative, went back to the doctor and he said it was all a stress and it will go by itself I just need to keep on taking the protective pills for as long as months. I wasn't really convinced with what he said although the pain has decreased in severity but I still had a burning sensation once I drink coffee or eat pepper to a level that I feel I was about to vomit, but didn't.

I went to another gastrointestinal specialist who asked my to do an endoscopy through the mouth and he performed a biopsy. Surprised that my tests showed a moderately active h pylori bacteria and he put me on the triple therapy for a month and half. I'm now on the second week, I asked him about the breath test he said he did not recommend breath test to anyone since it was just a waste of time and money. Lucky me, after one day from the triple therapy my bad breath has gone.

My nose doesn't drain anymore and my saliva's bad smell has disappeared. Now I know what causes the bad breath but I'm really scared that it might come back after I'm done with the therapy!

Anyone there that has finished the triple therapy and destroyed halitosis for good? please... Meanwhile, I will keep you updated.

Gargling with Honey Water for Bad Breath

Abdul K (South Africa) on 07/13/2016
5 out of 5 stars

Try this mouthwash out before going to bed after brushing your teeth. In the morning there will be no plaque on the teeth. It whitens the teeth and strenghtens the gums. An acquaintance who suffered from bleeding gums and could not find a medical cure tried it and was cured of his bleeding gums. He used it before going to bed, on awakening and after meals. A dentist in west London who tried it stated that it was the best mouthwash ever.

In a glass of warm water add a teaspoon of pure honey and stir well. Gargle your mouth swishing between the teeth. Also gargle your throat. It kills the bacteria lodged between the teeth. The same bacteria is found in of diseased heats. Save yourself form heart disease.

Try it out and recommend it to your family, friends etc. and specially to the medical fraternity who pump useless drugs.

Save money on commercial mouthwashes that do not really do anything.

Hydrogen Peroxide for Bad Breath

Serena (Calgary) on 06/27/2016

I forgot to brush my teeth one morning before work, and while standing about 4 ft from her and talking, my daughter was practically crying at the smell. I decided to try a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide that.I found st the Dollar Store, bought a package of plastic shot glasses while there, and took them both home. I immediately started using it by filling those shotglasses 1/2 full of HP and swished around my mouth, for about 30 seconds, morning and night. I made sure.to gargle at the back of my throat, too. It worked like a miracle! Right after the 1st time using it I could tell an intense difference in my mouth, I didn't taste that "tinny taste" that halitosis sufferers know so well, and gained confidence!

I started my 15 yr old son, as well, and within 4 days, yes only 4 days, the kid didn't even have morning breath anymore! He has the sweetest smelling breath ever! All this for a Dollar Store purchase!!
