Alcohol for Acne

Mike (Kent, UK) on 09/17/2023

Any high alcohol solution seems to dry and remove spots pretty quickly. For example 70% hand sanitiser.

At a pinch I just put some of that on a few times and the spot seems to disappear after a very short time.

Flaxseed Oil for Acne

Tina (Chattanooga) on 03/09/2023
5 out of 5 stars

Acne has plagued me for most of my life beginning in my teens. Dietary changes helped but now at 56 and post-menopausal, the hormonal acne that started around my mouth and on my chin takes full advantage of any dietary lapses.

I began taking flaxseed oil to help with hot flashes at a relative's suggestion. After several months, I realized the flaxseed oil didn't help much with the hot flashes so I stopped taking it. However I now realize it WAS helping with my hormonal acne because my skin has been going crazy since I stopped taking it. My daughter's skin has too.

The company I've been ordering from is no longer selling it so I am now on a search for another brand with the same stringent production methods and wonderfully "clean" product.

Pantothenic Acid CURED My 10 Year+ Struggle With Acne

Ellie L. (San Diego, CA) on 09/10/2021
5 out of 5 stars

I battled with acne pretty much my entire adult life. It wasn't too bad when I was on birth control, but as soon as I went off in my mid-20s, I began to develop much worse acne. I would get regular pimples but also cystic acne that would hurt. I was in my early 30s with acne...wondering will this ever go away??! I'd always have 5-10 painful pimples on my face. When one would finally go away, another would pop up. That is, UNTIL I WENT ON PANTOTHENIC ACID (vitamin b5).

Oh my gosh. This was literally the answer to my prayers. I had been praying to God to either help me find a cure for my acne or help me to accept it (it made me so insecure). And He lead me to b5. I started with a mega-dose of it - taking 8 500mg capsules per day (in smaller doses throughout the day).

I would say most of my acne was totally gone within the first month. I was shocked. I maintained the high dose "just in case" for a while after. I have since reduced it down and now take 2-4 500mg most days. I haven't had a cystic pimple since I started this over a year ago. Once in a great while I will get a very small pimple and I notice if I take a high dose of b5 it's gone within a day or two.

This was my miracle cure. I tried almost everything to cure it and nothing worked until I found this. I went on a mostly raw vegan diet for 6 months, drank the celery juice, cut our dairy, coffee, cut out sugar...nothing worked or seemed to touch it. I also put ACV on my face and it didn't do much either. The one thing I did not try was internal ACV... but all I know is b5 was finally the answer after a 10+ year fight with acne.

Hope this helps someone!

Avoid Peanut Butter and All Nuts for Acne

Jennifer (Napa, Ca) on 12/06/2020
5 out of 5 stars

Peanut Butter!

If you have teen or adult acne and you eat peanut butter or nuts or seeds/oils, it will increase inflammation and create massive infection within your clogged pores.

Please stop eating peanut butter and or seeds and nuts and seed oils if you want to get rid of your acne.

My friend had terrible acne his entire life since he was a teenager and we tried everything to help him with no success until we finally read an article about how unhealthy peanut butter is and how much massive inflammation it causes within your skin and causes acne, so please stop eating peanut butter and or nut and seed oils and it will clear right up!

Some people can tolerate peanut butter, but if you have acne, don't eat it!

Witch Hazel for Acne

Mike (Kent, Uk) on 08/23/2020

Worked great! When I was in my teens I had quite bad acne and tried so many things to get rid of it. The only thing that worked for me back then was witch hazel in a gel form which as I remembered I used to apply quite thickly over the areas with acne and leave it on overnight.

I don't know if it has to be in gel form or if it has to be as long as hours/overnight, but what I do know is it worked very well :)

Urine

If you want to get rid of acne pretty fast, there is something you can do but it may seem gross. However it's natural but we've been so sanitized that our beliefs are all over the place. Here's the trick - urination! Yes, your cure is in your body. Tell your teenager to simply put some of his/her own urine onto the acne and let it dry. It may have to be done a few times a day for a few days but I bet he/she will see improvement on the first day.

Also urine is good for insect stings.

Aloe, Coconut Oil Helped Son With Acne

Dave W (Groton, Ct) on 02/15/2018

My Grandson is 14 and has had acne for a long time but as a grand parent there is not much control sometimes but, after years of his mom taking him to doctors and putting chemicals on his face I was able to teach him there are natural things out there and now. He is washing his face 3 or more times a day then alternating aloe then coconut oil every day. I myself had some kind of skin problem that caused blotches and then dry skin after I used coconut oil 2 times every day and in 2 weeks it was all gone. Now I still apply it once a day and not a spot.

Also I want to say that my skin now is younger looking and smooth also tighter and I feel more confident againA

Niacin Flush for Acne

Pb (Cape Breton Ns) on 02/11/2018

I started taking niacin for anxiety, and to my surprise my skin cleared up quite quickly! (I didn't notice an effect on anxiety). You can purchase niacin in "non-flush " formats, but it's the flush that works to heal acne (I've tried both kinds). I think the tablets are 250 mg, I take half a tablet a day. After awhile you may notice the flush isn't as pronounced because you kind of get used to it, but if you take the niacin with coffee or with a tsp or two of apple cider vinegar, it make the flush more pronounced. The flush is rather uncomfortable - for me it's a prickly, itchy, hot sensation - but it goes away after about half an hour. You also look very red (although I have pale skin) so you might want to time it so the flush is gone by the time you need to go out! Good luck!

Vitamin C for Acne

Mama To Many (Tn) on 01/09/2018

I have/have had 6 teens so far. They have been blessed with pretty clear skin. I wonder if there is a hereditary component as my husband and I had pretty clear skin as teens also and I say we had pretty typical teen diets. (I worked in a fast food restaurant from ages 16-19 and ate lunch there every day that I worked, which was daily in the summer! )

But they do have some mild acne. Never enough for them to be bothered to try and improve it though.

After 6 weeks of very regular use of liposomal vitamin C for whooping cough, however, I have noticed that one teen in particular has notably clearer skin.

If you have a teen with acne, vitamin C would be easy to try. The easiest way to get a higher dose is the store bought lypospheric vitamin C. It costs $32 for 30 packets. One packet of liposomal a day and in a month you would see if it was worth making your own for regular use, which is much cheaper once you invest in the materials.

Goldenseal Works for Acne after Four Years of Other Remedies!

Pzolnir (Az) on 06/26/2017
5 out of 5 stars

Suffering with acne and getting no help with western medicine - try Goldenseal. This is the secret remedy no Dermatologist wants us to know about. It's working wonders for us. My son is 18 and has had a bad experience with acne since he was 14. We have seen a Dermatologist for four years and everything he tried did nothing to make a difference. I came across an article for Goldenseal uses and pulled it from my arsenal and he started taking it as instructed. 1 capsule 3 x daily. Include a daily facial wash or two made of Goldenseal. If using a capsule to make the facial wash, boil it for a couple minutes while stirring.

It's been a week now and the Goldenseal has reversed the bacteria that was causing the acne scarring that will now heal. The Goldenseal appears to be healing his face.

Dietary Changes, Detox Cleanses Have Not Helped Acne, Please Help!

Kyle (Mason City, Il) on 05/09/2017

Dear Earth Clinic:

I found about you guys by doing a Google search for holistic medicine. I'd like your advice on something I'm still struggling with. I'm currently a 24 year old male & I have struggled with acne ever since my teens. Me & my family try to do practically everything as healthily as we can. We don't eat fast food, we don't eat anything out cans anymore (except for canned sardines once in a great while), we drink filtered reverse osmosis water, we even stay away from soda, we eat organic health food & stay completely away from major-label brands that have extra junk added to it.

In the past we've even taken some of the more extreme measures like doing liver/gallbladder cleanses, kidney cleanses & even colon cleanses. (Although I haven't had a colon cleanse since several years ago.) Going back to my original issue- despite doing all of this, to this day I STILL struggle with acne! I even have some on my back & shoulders which hasn't cleared up completely! Sometimes, I tend to have some acne spots get swollen. Why I haven't yet been able to figure out. But if you can offer any explanations or solutions that would be helpful, I would be very grateful! And if you have any questions for me or might need further details, feel free to drop me a line.

Thank you for your time & hope you can help me! Kyle

Matcha Green Tea for Acne

Jakestap (East Lansing, Mi) on 04/19/2017
5 out of 5 stars

I've suffered with acne for many years. I was put on Accutane in high school, which cleared me up but wreaked havoc on my system. Apple Cider Vinegar has helped me, vegetable juicing has helped a bit, and avoiding sugar/dairy has been beneficial. But my acne still persisted. Recently I started drinking 1-2 teaspoons of Organic Matcha Tea per day and my face cleared up almost entirely, and with remarkable speed. I don't know if I found my personal cure, or a cure that could help others but I know how painful it can be physically and emotionally to deal with acne so I wanted to share this. And honestly, even if this doesn't work for you, you will be glad you started putting Matcha in your system. I feel better in all aspects.

If you do decide to try Matcha Tea I recommend choosing a pure, organic source. Finally after years and years of searching, I found something that really helped me get clear. Hope this helps someone out there! Acne sucks.

Hi, for acne problems; STOP dairy, especially Milk and Ice Cream, and limit chocolate intake. My grandson had acne bad until I took him off those items; he's clear now. Although, when he eats the above items within a few days he breaks out! 🤔 I hope this helps you. Carol from Michigan

Lemongrass Tea for Acne

I was pretty surprised to not see lemongrass up here. Lemongrass is the best treatment for acne. It just can be a bit difficult to get a hold off consistently because it is an exotic and can be a bit hard to find. Drink 1 to 2 cups each day of lemongrass tea, The best would be with fresh lemongrass cut up and boil it for 10 mins then allow to steep in the pan a bit. along with a good diet this will clear up your acne within a few days. It also makes your skin have a very beautiful glowing effect. I highly recommend this it is great!

Coconut Oil and Tea Tree Oil for Acne

Coconut Oil and Tea Tree Oil:

Works great! I have a preparation made with some coconut oil and a bit of tea tree(melaluca)oil mixed in. I rub it on my face at night after using a gentle cleanser. It has worked pretty fast to get my acne under control. I have always dealt with some pretty annoying breakouts before/during periods. I was taking clindamycin lotion and adapalene gel which helped but sometimes would dry my skin out too much/cause easy sun burns. I love how this works better and is natural!

For acne on the chin - try zinc 50mgs a day ...ingested.

And diluted peroxide (the regular one that they sell over the counter) diluted 50/50 with water topically on your skin.

Great results in a week!

Vitamin A for Stubborn Acne

Stephanie (Napa, Ca) on 12/12/2016
5 out of 5 stars

Vitamin A is the answer! We tried it all, cut out dairy, cut out wheat, which both helped to a certain extent but nothing came close to Vitamin A. My son had terrible ace and even some very red cystic acne, we started by giving him 50mg day of chelates zinc which helped a little until I read that Accutane mimics Vitamin A in high doses. We then added 40,000iu of Vitamin A per day for a week and now just 20,000iu daily with the zinc, taken with food and his acne is now GONE. It has only been less than a month but we initially started seeing results within the first few days all the cyctic bumps reduced in size almost immediately! Stick with it, I know it's frustrating but you are worth it!
