This does work. Last year my daughter, then 2.5 years old, was coughing a lot at night. Moms at our homeschool co-op told me about it, and as they had several children, I decided to try it. To my surprise, vicks rubbed on the bottom of her feet, then applying socks, did indeed stop the coughing for many hours. I tried it again this year and it's worked several times. I also tried it on my 7 year old and it helped, and even tried it on myself, with success once or twice. I don't think it works on every cough every time, but it CAN work. Try it, you've got nothing to lose. For the record, we had to go purchase vicks for this. I don't have any over the counter stuff in my house. But we needed sleep so we tried it and it worked.

Last night my boys had a terrible barking cough. I put Vicks on the bottoms of their feet and covered with socks. I also have them each a large soon of warm honey with cinnamon mixed in. This gave 6 hours of sleep (relief) before it started again. I am also giving doses of vitamin c, zinc and vitamin D3. We are still fighting the bugs but as I am reading I realize I was lucky to get 6 hours of relief so will do again tonight, also excited to use recipe advised by earth clinic for homemade. Oh to protect myself I am putting drops of oregano oil under tongue and sucking on cloves, unfortunately the kids do not cooperate with any of these meds..

My 5 year old son has a cough that really flared up today. There were constant hacks the whole day through. I looked here on earth clinic and saw the Vicks remedy, went to the store a couple hours ago and applied it to the bottom of his feet in the car. I put his socks and shoes on and at my young daughters request we stopped at the park where they played for an hour. There was only 2 coughs in the last couple of hours.

Tonight will be the true test when I put him to bed, but so far I must admit it seems to have made a difference for the better.

This is the second night I've put Vick's on my 6 month old's feet for her cough. Works like a charm. I was skeptical, but she's sleeping like a baby, literally.

I have had wonderful success with coughs for my child with this. I slather the vicks on his feet, put on socks and the coughing stops immediately for 6 plus hours, so we can all get a good nights sleep. If he wakes up coughing, I repeat this, and the coughing stops again. I have not figured out how to stop the cough in the daytime. Have had some success with honey with a pinch of black pepper.

I've tried the Vicks remedy several times on my 6 year old daughter. It has never worked for her.

I had heard about Vics for coughs through a friend and within a short time, my grand-daughter came down with a bad cough (every couple of minutes). We used the vapor rub on her feet and put socks on her. Her coughing stopped within 15 minutes and lasted all day! Sooo much better than giving all those over the counter medications.
