Writing Can be Healing!

Years ago I had a dream in which I heard this song,

"The paper and the pen are friends.

The paper and the pen are friends....

Put them in your hands

And they will cause you to stand

The paper and the pen are friends."

We would be surprised how many people are sick because of worry or unforgiveness. Writing is a good way to take off the heavy load, or just to say what you could not express verbally. You can forgive yourself and others, say I love you, or even say "I am sorry" to someone in a letter whom you may never see again.

You may find out that there is a gift of writing in you that's been waiting to be expressed.

Your healing may come as you write. Writing can be just what the doctor ordered to help you to stop worrying. When I first started doing 3 day Prayer Shut-ins in the 1980's, I use to write down all my request in a note book and date them. Most of those prayers have been answered. There are about two or three still on the list from those years.

If you are writing to get anger off your chest, be sure to tear up the paper when you finish, or shred it, and say "Lord I'm trading this anger in for peace and joy." Then write the situation like you would love it to be. This is your prayer, date it, check it off when it comes to pass. "Believe something good can happen."

Unforgiveness has a way of making us sick. And it probably does just as good of job of making us acidic as worry. I believe that writing done properly can be a way of letting hurt go. True forgiveness is letting it go. Furthermore it is canceling the charges.

It may be a good idea for us to write a Cancelling the Charges List for 2017. It may very well be the turn around for brighter days, because it just feels good to do good, (And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Matthews 6:12 .
