Hi, Ted
Tonight I was in the super market and found Boraxo powdered hand soap. It says on the back. Boraxo Powdered Hand Soap is a unique blend of borax and powdered soap. The borax holds the lossened soil in suspension until it is rinsed away. This is a 20 Mule Team product. There is a number to call on the label if anyone would like to know if they can find it in there area or maybe able to order it. 1-800-457-8739. I bought a 12 oz canister for $1.77. I beleive I will start using on my scalp as I have bumps there. I will let you know how it works.
Any updates? Did you completely rid yourself of the mites?
Lichen Planus
Hi Ted, I have SLE/Sjogren's syndrome since 18 years, and for the past few years had a rash on my right leg shin and gradually its spread on my other leg, over my body. the rash is called lichen planus. as the itch is driving me mad, im up to try anything to relieve me as it is getting worse, the medicines are not helping so i stopped everything. currently detoxing, having a complete vegetarian diet, juicing and started to drink the soda bicarbonate. I have washed my infected wounds with borax, it helps drying but makes it very itchy. could you recommend anything for this skin condition please. Much obliged, shahnaz
EC: Hi Shahnaz,
The Q&A page on the Lichen Planus section has one answer from Ted: https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/lichen_planus_questions.html#Question_1159
I have really severe fibromyalgia and will be in a wheel chair in a few years if I don't do something about this, so I'm really glad that I found earth clinic. I am going to try the borax, h2o2, acv, baking soda, magmesiun, vitamin b's and colloidal silver. I am only 35 with four small children and I live in constant pain with chronic fatigue and everything else that goes with it. This ailment has stolen from me the joy of parenthood. These years should be an absolute treasure for me - not misery.
I also have a child with type 1 diabetes that we have been trying to cure for 6 years now. Can I give her (11years) borax and or h2o2? She must be full of flouride if I am. I know everyone says that you can't cure it but our bodies rebuild themselves and correct themselves if we bring them back to balance with what we take out, and what we put in. What do you think?
Thanks for your time,
Mama
To Lisa from Thousand Oaks: Thankyou so much for all of your encouragement. I will look at those you tube videos that you recommended. I am starting to feel somewhat better already. The peroxide therapy and the Borax are really working. The non processed food diet and allergen avoidance is a real help too. I test everything with Kinisiology first to see if my body likes it. My husband and I have become quite good at it and it never fails to be accurate. My energy has gone up quite a bit.
Thanks again,
Mama :)

Hello Victoria,
I was so excited to read your post. I am about to start the same protocol you outlined in Jan. I wanted to know a few things if you have a minute. 1) did you have any side effects 2) do you still feel great today and 3) did you change your diet in a significant way. Glad to hear you no longer want sweets. I avoid them but still crave them. Thanks for your help. Kelly

The headache you are experiencing is from taking to much at one time, I think? I've had the same thing happen to me. I backed off a bit because it gave me diarrhea .... Nettie, I also use borax on my face. After a layer or two of borax (mixed with HP and TTO) is dry I put on a generous amount of Sea Buckthorn Oil. I get a bit orange, but that's not the end of the treatment. After that I put on 20% zinc cream from the drugstore (baby section), which is white. I just do a thin layer, but it cuts the orange and I look pretty much normal, and the zinc is a sunscreen. After that I dust with face powder if I feel it is needed. Sea Buckthorn Oil is labeled as being good for rosacea.

To Tom (Louisiana) ---
Sorry to hear of your wife's skin problems. Most likely, it is the liver throwing the poisonous substances out through the skin.
Borax has a very drying after effect and is good for some skin ailments. But in this case I would make chamomile tea, soak cotton face cloths and cover the affected areas. You can also make enough for a bath. This extremely soothing and healing and can be repeated a few times.
After dabbing dry, apply coconut oil liberally where needed. Coconut oil is cooling and soothing, too. Meanwhile Milk Thistle internally three times a day to help clear the liver, and stay away from antibiotics. The word antibiotic means "anti life". It must be done with God's pharmacy.
Let us know how it goes. Namaste Om

Hi Grace, I am curious, back in Nov. 2013, when you took the sulpha based antibiotic, did you also take any oral corticosteroids around the same time?

I had a very bad experience with 20 mule team Borax. I was taking it to chelate fluoride and other heavy metals out of my system. I got terrible peripheral neuropathy from Cipro. I got splotches on my forehead. Blurred vision, headaches, and terribly constipated and my BP went up likely from the stress of it all. When I went off everything it I got rid of it all. I was taking 1/4 teaspoon in a liter of water. I even dropped it to 1/8th of a teaspoon and still had problems. And I do take Lugols at 50 mgs/day. Has anyone tried Mesenchyne?
Rash
Cipro has fluoride. I just went through a bad episode since I have hypothyroid, I ended up with all thyroid symptoms worst, it has been two months and still having problems.
Rash
Hi Nho...Fluoride will also deplete iodine in your thyroid so, as you say, you are probably hypothyroid as well. So if I were in your situation I would start taking the full Iodine Protocol(together with all advised minerals and vitamins) to immediately improve and normalize the thyroid. Supplementing the Iodine Protocol will also help to automatically remove any excess fluoride in your body(from the Cipro) in the same way as borax can. The borax protocol is shown here.
Rash
Is it possible the iodine could raise your blood pressure? I was using Ponaris nasal emollient on advice of my ENT and while it made breathing possible and reduced mucus production, it seemed to raise my blood pressure. Once off, no more problems. It does contain iodine. I suppose it depends on the condition of your thyroid (?)

Fluoride Poisoning
I have the same side effects. I found the tablets as opposed to the powder helpful, but only after at least a 7 day cleanse of the colon and iodine. I used a 7 day ultimate cleanse, which offers both. (Can't clean the deep parts without a clean pathway out, sort through of.) I actually did a 14 day cleanse with 2 days break in the middle. All cleansing will cause some discomfort at the beginning, however. Bless you, I hope this helps!

General Feedback
I notice that many people on this site are advocating internally ingesting borax as a cure for various problems. This is not a good thing to promote, as borax is harmful when ingested. I use borax mixed with sugar as a natural ant killer - it kills off an ant problem in 2-3 days. This indicates a level of toxicity that shouldn't be treated lightly. When I cook up the mixture, I wear gloves and a facemask to prevent breathing in the fumes. The following excerpt about borax toxicity is from Wikipedia:
Start of excerpt:
"Borax, sodium tetraborate decahydrate, is not acutely toxic. Its LD50 (median lethal dose) score is tested at 2.66 g/kg in rats. This does not mean that it is safe, merely that a significant dose of the chemical is needed to cause severe symptoms or death. Simple exposure can cause respiratory and skin irritation. Ingestion may cause gastrointestinal distress including nausea, persistent vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Effects on the vascular system and brain include headaches and lethargy, but are less frequent. "In severe poisonings, a beefy red skin rash affecting palms, soles, buttocks and scrotum has been described. With severe poisoning, erythematous and exfoliative rash, unconsciousness, respiratory depression, and renal failure."
...Boric acid solutions used as an eye wash or on abraded skin are known to be especially toxic to infants, especially after repeated use because of its slow elimination rate."
End of excerpt.
Note the use of the words "acutely toxic". Just because Borax isn't acutely toxic does not mean that it isn't toxic, just that it doesn't kill immediately. Please don't fool around with internally ingesting this stuff - it may seem like a harmless white powder that seems to do some good, but there are good reasons why it's banned as an additive to foodstuffs in many countries.
cannot agree more with you....most of peoples don't really understand how it work wikipedia.
Yeast Infections
YEA, you are mentioning "borax" and "boric acid" in your post. Isn't there a difference?
Another thing that I don't quite understand: Borax is alkaline, right? But the pH of the vagina is supposed to be acid. E.G. Many woman get yeast infections because the sperm is alkaline, which messes up their vaginal environment. How can an alkaline substance cure an infection caused by a disturbed environment?
But if you say it worked I'm gonna give it a shot anyways. But how do I know if the borax/boric acid that I buy is the one you used for your treatment? Do you have a chemical formular or any other specific information or something?
I have no idea where to buy this stuff in Austria... Does anybody have experiences with the borax from ebay?
Thanks.

I am having a hard time locating the exact protocol regarding borax. My 5 yr old daughter has a fungal infection on her scalp. Ted replied to me to used a borax saturated solution, but I still haven't read exactly what ratio to use for topical use. Lastly night I mixed 1/8 tsp with 1 liter of water and rinsed her hair and let sit for 5 min, then rinsed off with reverse osmosis water. so could someone please help me...I'd greatly appreciate it as her scalp has been suffering for a year and it's really been stressful for our family. Here are my questions.
1)What ratio do I use topically?
2) Do I only mix with water? or include something else..I've been reading about the dryness?
3) How often do I do this? I read something about 4 days on 2 days off?
4) Do I use this as the/instead of the shampoo (we always use natural/minimal shampoo) ? Do I leave borax on or rinse off?

I'd been trying to find the amount of borax to use for shampoo when I stumbled upon a website that sold borax shampoo in the form of 1/8 cup of dry borax in a bottle (appears to be a 1 quart or 1 liter bottle). You simply add water and use as shampoo so I'm going to try that.
Apparently, several people use it but can only find one (Thanks Jackie!) who uses 2 tablespoons borax in 2 quarts of water. How about the others? How much do you use and how do you apply it?

Heavy Metal Poisoning
Hi Ted, just read your comment about using green tea to remove heavy metals from the body. I was concerned as I have read that it contains higher levels of fluoride that black tea. I understand that borax removes fluoride but thought perhaps not best to add more by ingesting further? I have found that coriander removes mecurary at a good level and organic apples help aid removal of alumnium. have you any thought s to help my research further? Thanks. Jess
Heavy Metal Poisoning
As far as I know, green tea contains calcium fluoride rather than the sodium fluoride or hydrofluoric acid (H.A. is even worse). I think that CaF may be not as readily absorbed by the body, because it is insoluble, whereas NaF (sodium fluoride) is soluble. It is important to note that even insoluble things such as biogenic silica can be absorbed into the body via the gastrointestinal tract.
However, since I do not know the form of fluoride in green tea, I cannot advocate its consumption. This is due to the fact, that modern agricultural techniques may increase the amount and diversity of the fluorides contained within the tea plant/final product.
Furthermore, I question the duration of many green tea studies showing its beneficial effects. Since fluorides are cumulative, long term studies are necessary to determine the overall impact green tea has on health. I also wonder about the forms of green tea used in many studies. Are they using fluoride free tea? If so then they should mention it.
Also, are there any benefits to using tea with natural fluorides? (I seriously want to know the answer to this.)
Many companies propose to sell fluoride free green tea.
For further reading on fluoride in green tea I recommend this article.
Heavy Metal Poisoning
Hi Teri, thanks for sharing. How much sodium thiosulfate are you adding to your bath water?
Heavy Metal Poisoning
Hi Ted, You sound like a knowledgeable fellow so perhaps I am wrong and you are right, however I took some time to find out that baking soda is what we in the UK call Bicarbonate of soda AND Borax is also what we call Bicarbonate of Soda. Baking powder is what we call Cream of Tarter. So as you can imagine your article on treating Rosacea with Borax and Baking Powder is somewhat confusing. Below is one of the articles I tracked down to clarify the terms:
What is Baking Powder and Baking Soda?
Baking Soda is pure Sodium Bicarbonate, also called Bicarbonate of Soda (NaHCO3). It is a white crystalline alkali which reacts by effervescing (fizzing) when it comes into contact with acids, thus producing gasses, namely carbon dioxide. Because of this chemical reaction, it is often used in fizzy drinks and antacid remedies and it's precisely this reaction which facilitates the rising action in baked goods.
Baking Powder is more complex. It is composite of Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda), one or more acid salts such as Cream of Tartar (Tartaric Acid), Sodium Aluminium Sulphate, Calcium Acid Phosphate plus a drying agent such as cornflour and the exact mix determines whether it is "Single" or "Double" acting. The difference between baking soda, single and double acting baking powders, is when the chemical reactions actually take place, and is explained below. However, the rising principal is the same in that a chemical reaction produces carbon dioxide bubbles which expand through the cooking mixture.
TAKEN FROM: www.recipes4us.co.uk/Specials and Holidays/Baking Powder and Soda Origin Uses Recipes.htm
EC: Peter, according to posts from contributors in the UK and Ireland, Borax is NOT called bicarbonate of soda in the UK, it's called Borax. However, it's been banned from shops and can only be bought online.

I just bought a package of what said Borax in my local pint supply store. On the label it says 100% Natriumtetraborat 10 hydrate and not Sodium tetraborate or sodium borate decahydrate that you and this site suggests. I am worried that I bought the wrong kind of product even though it does say Borax on the box. There are also all kinds of warning labels on it like "keep away from children", "contact doctor if ingested" and "use protective gear when handling". I guess I should have checked this in the store but I just asked for Borax and got a boc of borax and bought it. Now I just want to know if this is the same product that you recommend or if I bought something else. The content looks like salty powdery crystals. Please advise, thank you.
Heavy Metal Poisoning
Thank you for putting this information out there however I am confused about the topical solution dosages.
I have been using borax internally for a couple of weeks with little to no improvement for what has been diagnosed as rosacea, I mostly got very dry skin so now I want to try the topical version in combination with internally ingesting borax.
I also tried a candida cleanse (some suggest that excessive candida can be the cause of rosacea) using oil of oregano along with a mixture of natural ingredientssupposed to take care of the problem in a capsule. No luck there either so now I am looking back at the borax / hydrogen peroxide treatment.
I can get 3% hydrogen peroxide from the pharmacy here, will it work?
To make a facial cream, how much peroxide should I use in combination with borax? Should I mix with water? I am most comfortable with measurements in ml or tsp / tbsp. Thank you in advance for any reply!

Before taking MMS please do some research online. I was intrigued by the above post and decided to look into it myself. While I don't doubt that there are often impediments in place to prevent natural remedies from taking off, there are multiple countries that have been involved in bans and lawsuites regarding MMS. From what I have found, it is essentially industrial strength bleach. Wikipedia has a decent summary with multiple references you can check out for yourself. While I know we are all eager to find solutions for our ailments, we have to be wary of so-called miracle cures. On a different note, I'm excited to try borax for my atopic dermatitis after having read about it for the last couple hours! :)

I found an amazing product called S___ Z-lite which has a small amount of fulvic acid that started to bring my libido back and then I started on the protocol of 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate in water. Been doing this for a little over a week with four days of 1/4 teaspoon of borax in water and three days off. I believe that I got the H. Pylori 15 years ago in Africa. Ever since I started this protocol I wake up feeling worse every morning. My stomach is very uncomfortable in the mornings. Each morning it feels worse than the morning before. This morning I feel like I am going to pass out. Should I stop this protocol. Or are these just die off symptoms?
Ted's Borax Feedback
TO Artlover8 from Lakewood, Co, Jefferson: You are experiencing the die off of candida and it sounds like you have a severe systemic case. Look into adding iodine (I spray it on my skin and wear dark clothing), organic virgin coconut oil (eat it and rub on itchy skin), and molybdenum (I melt it under my tongue) to help ease the side effects. Hard as it is to deal with the die off, it is worth it in the long run to be free of the fungus that causes so many maladies.

That's amazing results, I made up 1 teaspoon into 4 cups of distilled water and take 1 tablespoon every day but unfortunately I'm still getting UTIs I'm also in menopause, so get them frequently am hoping that borax will help with mine too so I don't need to take dam antibiotics all the time.

Would that be okay?

Long Term Use of Borax
Bill I would suggest your numbers of boron are off here. Borax has a mass of 1.73mg/cm3 and is 11.36% boron. 1 tspn holds 4.98cm/3. So 1.73mg/cm3 x 4.98cm/3 x 11.36%boron works out to be 979 mgs of boron per teaspoon full of borax. 1/8 tsp or 0.125 tspn x 979 mgs of boron/tspn works out to be 122 mgs of boron. 1/4 tspn would be 244 mgs/boron. Seems to be fairly high amounts considering some are thinking the 1/8 tspn is only 20 mgs of boron and 1/4 tspn is 40 mgs/boron. Correct me if you think my math is off here.

Best Borax Protocol Tips
I found an article at https://www.brighteon.com/cf0d37a5-230c-4572-b874-4ad3773769b6 originally published in 2012 by Dr Amandha Vollmer. It references someone in Australia who studied Borax and eventually began and selling pills with an unknown amount of Borax for Arthritis. It was extremely effective but when he could not keep up with demand he went to a pharmaceutical company. Big mistake..y question; what amount of Borax would de safe in this form? It seems logical that if 1/4 teaspoon mixed in a Liter of water and drank throughout the day your getting very small doses at a time. So it seems that 1/4 tsp all at once might be dangerous or cause a sudden shock to the system. It would be a lot simpler if I could take in pill form that I make myself since I drink a lot of water doing construction work especially in the summer.

Hi. Please give me an URGENT clarification on this situation. The article on this site says that people with lower weight should take a dose of 1/8 teaspoon of borax per day. There is information that 1/8 teaspoon is about 500mg of borax. And that's the whole problem, because it's NOT TRUE.
I have two sensitive jewelers' scales. 500mg is 10 times more (!) than 1/8 teaspoon. I prove it in the photos (0.5g=500mg). In reality, 1/8 teaspoon is 50mg, not 500mg!
To summarize:
the dose of 1/8 teaspoon is 50mg, which is 10 times less (!!!) than the information given on earthclinic.
Please clarify this situation. It is very urgent for everyone who uses this therapy! This should be clarified as soon as possible.
It is very irresponsible to give such false information.

EC: Sorry, Michael's post is from 2014 and he is unlikely to reply.
Multiple Cures
I take borax on empty stomach. Borax tastes "soapy".
Mixing it with random food makes no sense. If people are doing that, I could imagine all sorts of digestive problems. Never heard someone use the word "metallic" to describe it. If taste is not palatable, just dilute it with more water.
I think the chances of toxicity is extremely low. I think one should distinguish between first time user loading dose (i would say around 3 weeks) and long term dose.
I think the loading dose can be higher but Ted's just trying to err on the side of caution just to be safe. One should review the symptom list for boron toxicity and just be aware of it. That should be enough to keep one out of trouble, if it should happen, you will be right on top of it.
Multiple Cures
Increase Iodine in the winter. We tend to consume less if it during winter and skin depends on it to stay smooth and moist. Dry skin is a symptom of Iodine deficiency, says Dr. Jorge D. Flechas.
Twenty Mule Team Borax Ingredients
i would caution using 20 mule team borax. it is called Borateam and Borateem is 98.7 percent borax with tribromsalan, a microbiocide, and sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate, an insecticide. I would recommend technical grade borax.

Laugh if you will but is it possible for a woman to have jock itch because I get something that you could describe like that?! If borax treats it I assume it is fungal?

borax - overdose? help!
I have mis-read the instructions for taking borax. I have taken 1/8 teaspoon in a glass of water. Instead of in 1 litre of water. Should I be worried about this?
Jill
Even less toxic than table salt.
If you were to ingest 350 grams though, then you would die.

I need clarification on just how much borax weekly and daily. Ted's instructions are 1/8 tsp per liter taken weekly in divided doses throughout the day. Does this mean 1/8 tsp per liter everyday throughout the week or all of it in one day? And only one day. Need clarification if I am going to do it.
Hello: I am newly introduced to the concept of Borax for healing. And many posts that suggest 20 Mule Team Borax, sold in the USA, is for human ingestion, especially because 1/8 tsp is dissolved in 1 liter water. However, I am looking at the 20 Mule Team box now and its side panel specifically states the following:
#1. It's ingredients is Sodium Tetraborate (a synonym for Sodium borate decahydrate or Borax). The box further states it contains no phosphates or chlorine.
#2. The box further states that its contents are not to be taken internally, first aid for ingestion is to drink milk or water/do not induce vomiting, call a physician immediately, not for drug use.
I've got an eMail into 20 Mule Team now to have them further qualify their no ingestion order.
What's the deal? Is 20 Mule Team Borax safe or not safe for ingestion--please provide real reasons why. Thanks.
I copied this directly off the 20 Mule Team Borax site:
In earlier times, 20 Mule Team® Borax was proclaimed to be a magical crystal and was used to aid digestion, keep milk sweet and even cure epilepsy. Common sense and modern technology have brought us better solutions to these and other problems, but 20 Mule Team® Borax still has a place in your home.

I've tried Mule 20 with no problems but then I saw it in the pellet form in the health section of the store. it is the stuff you've seen at the Naturopathic dr office, anyhow it is Boiron Homepathic medicine, Borax in the pellet form. It is safe just follow the instructions on the bottle, You can buy it at most stores where they have a health food section or just do web search and go to trusted source like A____ and they will deliver it to your door! I hope that helps people.

Hi Ted! I add vitamin C in a form of magnesium ascorbate to my all day drinking water. Is it safe to add borax to it also? Will there be any interaction?
Thank you! Alex

Have there been studies in which the excretion of fluoride has been shown to increase with the use of borax?

Hi Becky, thanks for relaying your experience.. It has given me hope for my rheumatoid arthritis! I have been taking a licked fingertip of Borax mixed in an ACV/honey hot toddy every evening for 5 days and, while I'm not getting any Borax side effects, I'm not feeling any pain relief either. I know it was ages ago now, but just wondering if you remember how long you had to take it for before you felt any benefit? Ted has said 4 days on, 3 days off but I think I'm going to go for broke and keep going! :) Did you take it with breaks or consistently? I'm a bit leery of taking it daily for weeks on end...
Hope you are still in good health.. And that it may have even gone away!
