i've been using borax for a hair wash too. i've used it a couple of different ways - 1 teaspoon in a pint of warm water stired and poured on wet hair, then rinse with water - followed by a 1 teaspoon of ACV in a pint of warm water; rinse again with cold water - and i've used it saturated - which means i put about 1/2 inch in a bottle and filled it with warm water, shook it, and let it sit until no more borax would dissolve (they will be some white crystals which is ok) (then used the same as above) - and i really couldn't tell the difference!!!
both methods leave my hair very full, shiny, smooth, soft - better than anything else i have used!!! before this i was using soap bars which started leaving white residue in my hair when our water quality changed. this is not a problem with borax!
it does seem that the saturated solution may be more prone to 'build up' which means that my hair wasn't quite as shiny (still shiny though) as with the less saturated solution - but this could be because i'm only using ACV to rinse - 1/4 teaspoon citric acid in a pint of water is supposed to be a better rinse - but i have yet to find any and love my ACV rinse. also i like the idea of using less borax since i use it for my laundry and other things.
the other wonderful thing borax has done for me is i have a rat named eric who has always had itchy skin!!! i have tried everything - VCO rubs (to kill mites - he hates VCO) - olive oil, ACV, neem soap, etc. and while some of these work the itchies always come back when it is cold and dry.
the last time this happened he was chewing his skin off and i was desperate and decided to try the borax.
i put about a tablespoon or so into the sink and filled it with warm water and soaked him and massaged his itchy spots. then i rinsed him with plain water.
immediately he stopped itching! he was able to sleep all night that night and has been better since. i have only had to do it once more and it has been a few weeks!!! this time i made sure to get it on his head and this has worked even better.
and rats often suffer from a respitory illness called myco - which seems to me to be similar to pnuemonia - and suprise of suprises! eric's breathing is much better after his borax baths!!! he is an older rattie and has allergies - and while i don't think he has active myco - most ratties do carry myco and they can come down with it if their immune system is compromised.
hope this helps someone! my rattie boy now has much energy and is acting like a young rattie again in spite of being almost 2 years old!!! :)
also my bf has had athletes foot for ever. i finally gave him some borax and he wet his feet in warm water and just scrubbed them with the borax granules. he says his feet haven't itched since he did this!!! and if they do he now knows what to do!!! this is funny to me because he was initially very afraid to use borax LOL
borax rocks!!! YAY!
Dear Phil:
Get any multiple vitamin and mineral supplements that have boron. The ingredients will likely be borax, but they will use chemical names, which is still the same thing. Sodium tetraborate, and other synonyms.
I used to moonlight as an industrial chemist and we used borax as the main ingredients for the boron supplements that you take in your mineral and vitamin supplements. A borax is a boron.
As to the schools, I don't subscribe to any schools as my training were a knowledge I gained from observations and studies in anatomy and physiology, biochemistry, chemistry and microbiology. I am what you call as conventional as you can get and it's application directly applies from these hard sciences. These other healing practices, that conflicts with me is most likely didn't know that borax and boron are actually the same thing. It's an essential mineral.
As to your questions of dark stool, the borax flushes out dead blood cells and other toxic substances, such as fluoride. Hence the black dark color is gone the next day. It also gets rid of excessive calcium out of the tissue, giving more muscular mobility, hence the dryness of the stool. Since I prescribe to none of the school the one theory I have is based on basics in biology, which is a concern about the body achieving balance, or homeostasis (in biology), equilibrium (in nature), symbiosis (in life), conservation (in nature), the middle path (in Buddhist philosophy), the balance between Yin and Yang(Chinese philosophy and Tibetan medicine), optimization (in economics and production and operations management) are some of the examples when we used differences in our language schema of things, but the general philosophy is one and the same, to achieve balance.
My approach is basically simple, that you can follow, which is basically common sense, insight, observation and principles that people can go prove to themselves. In healing arts the one thing that can never lie to you is your body. regardless of what every one says. I did conduct seminar years ago as part of college event where we can talk on any topics, which basically discusses my approach toward the healing arts. However, people were more interested in perfumery, stock markets, or subprime mortgage, or laser surgery hence the course was discontinued, from lack of students. I can't blame them, these students are healthy, so the interests in healing arts are not popular here.
As a side note, my formula which uses of 30% salicylic acid in a lotion, with 1% aloe vera oil works many times better than laser surgery on scar tissue. But customers by nature are more interested in technology rather than efficacy. It seems that marketing has overshadow the issue of health.
I hope this answers some of your questions and I am certain I didn't address all of your questions. You just have to understand that websites, doctors, and lawyer have something in common with musical artists. You can have a bad music artist or you have a good music artist. Their abilities from one person to the next are not the same. If they were, Britney Spears or Elvis Presley could never become that popular. LOL.

Hello Ted. It is great to see you back and posting here on EC!
I didn't know if I should e-mail you directly, since I had read on here that you were recieving alot of spam and was not opening some of your mail. ( So correct me if I am wrong and I will send to you.)
I do alot of reading about natural cures and alternative medicines, on alot of different websites...I did your borax 1/4 teaspoon in liter of water 5 days on 2 days off for six weeks for a terrible rash I had on my arms and it did seem to work very well for a while, but the rash does still occasionally flare up. When I drank the borax I noticed no bad side effects that some people report... The only thing that I noticed was a darker color stools ( Bowel Movement ) and NOT hard, but dryer and very dark. And it starts after the first day of drinking the borax water, a few days off stool goes back to normal medium brown color.
So my first question is why the dark stools?
Also viewing serveral other websites, such as Naturalnews.com,( Who for the the most part agrees and reports almost everthing that you report )
They have a VERY DIFFERENT view on BORAX and SOY. Both of which they say are POISIONS and NOT to put in or on your body... I am not very good with computers and do not know how to post the source here, but if you visit thier website Naturalnews.com and in their search box, type in borax, these articles will come up that really condemn the use of borax, even calling it a poison in the HPV vaccine and soy they say is a poison also.
So my second question why do they disagree with you on these issues, when they agree with you on so many other things???
Also, they promote BORON as being great...So can we use BORON suppliments and get the same results as we do with Borax? ( as in anti fungal and nano- bacteria )
And my last question. I would ask you a million if I could! LOL! But I know you are a very busy man. I find it very fasinating, how much knowledge you have on all subjects and I do know you have a chemistry background...
What would be the best approach for me to become a healer using alternative medicines? Is there certain studies I should take or certain schools you would recommend? I mainly want to heal myself, but I do know, I would probably need a licsense if I where to ever open a practice or store.
I know that there are tons of natural healers out there and alot of them do totally opposites of what others do. Is one method better than the other and if so what is the very best one?
Sincerly I THANK YOU, for all that you do!
Phil
Is Borax 1/4 tsp with 1 Liter of tap water just as effective than using distilled or filtered water ? Also, with 1 ltr container using 1/4 tsp borax, can the acv and sea salt be added and if so how much much in the 1liter water?
Rash
Diflucan (fluconazole) is loaded with fluoride. Read this link http://onibasu.com/archives/am/255637.html. You are quite likely suffering from fluoride poisoning, and need to do borax treatment. go slow.

Years ago I picked up a small book of old timey cleaning recipes from the 1900s. In the last century before there was store bought bottles of cleaning concoctions people made their own products. Women with the long hair used Borax Water to clean their hair very efficiently. The recipe I use is 1 cup of Borax to 1 gal of very hot water. Let it sit for 24 hours and shake it occasionally. Use only the water from this jug to wet your hair and just squeeze through, don't scrub. Rinse throughly and if needed do a vinegar rinse to clean any buildup.
When you are low on the borax water I add water and/or borax to keep the level right in the jug.
I hope this helps.
Ted~
For the past five years I have had this itchy rash/urticaria/hives that break out all over my body.I get pains in joints and swelling in my extremities. No known diagnosis and have been tested and treated with everything under the sun and nothing has worked. I beleiev I have some type of fungal or candida problem because I was taking 1 diflucan a day 200mg and 2 fiberchoice tablets and 1 culturelle probiotic pill daily for a month or so. It cleared for many months and came back after I got extremely stress form the death of a family member. I had a recent CT scan for possible pneumonia and found out I didn't have it but evidence of Granulomatous disease. I think this may be my problem.I want to try the Borax remedy. What do you think?

A year ago I came to this site to find a remedy for ringworm. I had gone through an number of over the counter products, which seemed to spread the fungus instead of stopping it. It had developed because of taking prescription medication with fluoride base. Yes I was poisoning myself with a doctor's help.
I tried Apple Cider Vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and urine to no avail. By the time I found Borax at WalMart, the fungus had spread all over my hands and I had begun to worry that I would be spreading it everywhere on my body. Plus my hands were cracked and bleeding, blistering and peeling, and the itching was endless.
So I started on Ted's recommended dose of 1/8 tsp in a liter of water and drank it slowly over a few hours. This worked within the first few days so well that I didn't want to stop after a few days to take a break, but I did. Within a months time the ringworm had completely vanished and the only thing left was the tiny pits in my fingernails where the fungus had affected the growth of the new nail.
Once my nails were not pitted anymore I stopped taking the borax supplement.
I know I posted the quote earlier, but as I have been continuing to research, why not just take the Boron suppliments versus drinking the Borax? Is there a big difference in taking one or the other? If Ted or someone else could answer this that would be great.
I just wanted to mention that soaking in Epsom Salts could be the cause of the diarrhea since Epsom Salts are high in magnesium and too much magnesium can cause diarrhea. It still boils down to doing your own research and finding out what works for you.
Boron Vs Borax
I have been researching the boron/borax issue because I want to use it, but have been quite afraid because of all the talk of it being toxic or poisonous. So I found a sientific article online that states this:
"Borax is necessary in small amounts for plant growth, one of the 16 essential nutrients. In larger amounts it is poisonous to plants, and the range can be small. For peaches, 1 ppm is required, but more than 5 ppm is toxic. If the signs of boron deficiency are noted in plants, a boron supplement can be applied. Borates can be used as non-toxic and non-specific herbicides. Borates are non-toxic to animals. The LD50 (dose at which there is 50% mortality) for humans is about 6 g per kg of body weight. Anything above 2 g is considered non-toxic, and borates are only 2 to 3 times as toxic as aspirin. Therefore, you are pretty safe unless you eat a pound and a half of borax for a snack. Borates are more toxic to insects than to mammals. The boranes and similar gaseous compounds are quite poisonous. As usual, it is not an element that is intrinsically poisonous, but toxicity depends on structure."
J.B. Calvert, (24 November 2002). Boron. Retrieved 03 October 2009, from http://mysite.du.edu/~jcalvert/phys/boron.htm
Sorry I am all about the references, plus this article has several quality references in it.
My husband was worried about me ingesting this so that is why I have done so much reasearch. I really feel it is safe, but even with this I am still a bit slow to try it. I will get up the courage soon. I just wanted to put this fact out there for all the people that argue about it. I think mainly I am afraid of the detox reaction I might have because my face has been pink for quite some time and if I put lotion on it or anything else it become very red till it is dry. I have washed my face twice with it so far though and it has at least dried up my acne. I also just used a bathroom cup to add water to some borax and then poored it on my hair. After rinsing then I shampooed. It did make it soft, although I tried to combine it with my body wash and it created a perm smell so I am going to do it by itself next time. Good luck everyone who tries Borax, but it is safe in small quantities.
Mineral oil is a contributor of Adult Acne; it gets into the pores and clogs them. It's better to use plain, old-fashioned cocoa butter.

Hi , I also started to use borax with the whole food market shampoo and I can also smell ammonia in my hair when I have it one. Is it normal? I tried to use it with water but my hair was not soft. In how many days my hair will get use to it and how much should I use in a quart of water. Please let me know how much ratio is used of borax:water when you shampoo your hair. Thanks! I am already benefitting with borax remedy for Candida that I suspect I have. I might not but I did have burning mouth for 10 years without ill effects to my health but last year I was diagnosed with auto immune disease of Thyroid "GRAVES" and then I realized that it might be the flouride toxins in water that I am allergic to so I started to detox with borax. I know it will help me if I have candida.
I just take 1/8 tsp of borax and put is one liter of water which is approximately 4 and1/2 glsses and I drink that all day long till it lasts, in a day for 4 days than I rotate with iodine ( Lugal's) 2% 3 to 4 drops in a glass of water for four days and then I take Hydrogen peroxide 3%, 5 drops in water for 4 days and then I take propolis extract one dropper full in water for 4 days to boost my immune system and so on. I am also on candida diet for six months or so. I am feeling better but now I have heavy legs that is not going away even though I took Vitamin E and magnesium/potassium. If any one knows any thing I am doing wrong or should do more let me know. Thanks! I love this site and the people who made this site possible. God bless you all.

I used Borax to releive the itching and irritation from a yeast infection. This was the advice of my gynocologist. I have done this several times and had immediate results without having to use messy creams and sepositories. Take one teaspoon of 50 mule borax and combine with about 2 & 1/2 cups of warm water. Mix together until the borax is dissolved and put in a douche bottle or bag. I found that the bag works best because you can do this in the shower without a lot of effort or cleanup. Douche away at the first signs of the yeast infection. I would only have to do this once a day for about 2 or 3 days. It's natural, safe and effective. Borax is also found in lipsticks and lip gloss. I think it's been given a bad rap for years because it's cheap to produce and when used properly, won't cause any other diseases. If no one had any diseases, how would the pharmaceutical companies make their money?

Hello all,
Hope this is beneficial to some other like sufferers...
I have been suffering from skin Mites for the past 2.5 years.
Been on Iodine hard for about a month or so, big help. 20 - 30 drops SSKI 2 or 3 times a day, SSKI I got off curezone. 5 drops Magnascent once or twice a day. 2 weeks ago I started with the Borax as well. I use 1/4 tsp in 1 quart of distilled water and consume 2 of these a day. I'm also having 1 - 3 Tblspn of Flax oil a day and also oil pulling each morning for 20 minetes first thing.
The relief has been phenomenal, 95%. Just what I needed after 2.5 years of absolute hell.
I believe in the power of Iodine and Borax working together.
I have Curezone and this forum to thank for my progress and a elevated outlook on life. All you Iodine and BoronBorax users have been a great help. As a result of Ted and Ginagirl (curezone) post's, jumping over the wall and trying borax was a breeze.
Lets keep the light on.

Hi Gary from New York City, You are correct, it is the 20 Mule Team you find in the Laundry Isle that is most popular on the Borax thread. I have been using it as a shampoo and body wash, and love it. However, my daughter that has thick straight hair said it dries her hair out. Mine on the other hand is naturally curly and seems to be doing just fine.
I have several times put a few pinches of the borax in my drinking water maybe a couple of times a month (when I have drunken fluoridated water) to flush out the fluoride. If you were ever to see my teeth, you would understand why I am so anti-fluoride. I have been doing this for over a year, and had no negative effects. I still don't even need any deodorant and its hot out side in this Georgia summer. I do perspire a good deal, but there is no odor, and you want to perspire to flush out toxins.
I use a 32 ounce container and put about 1/4 cup borax and fill the rest of the container with hot water and shake. This amount last me at least 2 weeks maybe longer. Peace, Rena.

I am VERY confused. Does anyone have a website in the states that I can buy the Borax that I can drink. I keep reading aritcle after article that contradicts the previous one or uses different names for what I think might also be Borax. Anyone that uses Borax should consistently stick with that word so know one becomes as confused as I am. I want to try this so badly but am not sure which to get OR where to buy it. I understand that I use 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of Borax in 1 liter of warm water. I want the water warm so it disolves the Borax so it won't cause pain in the Kidneys. BUT where do I find the type of Boras that can be INGESTED and is it the SAME one that I would shampoo with and use instead of soap. Some one please help by posting AND emailing me this information. Thx
A really good skin softener for your feet would be to use 1/4 cup of castor oil, 1/4 cup of olive oil and 1/4 cup of mineral oil and 7 drops of a lemon essential oil for fragrance. I had the same problem and combined this mixture along with using the borax and the results were unbelievable! I hope it works for you as well.

Hi Ted! God bless you for taking the time to help people with their health problems. I tried the borax on myself and feel soooo much better; my symptoms were/are similar to lupus, and Alzheimer's runs in my family. Since I tried the borax in water the other day (three days total, about 1/4 teaspoon per liter per day) I feel like my mind is much clearer and my stomach feels much lighter and more comfortable. My head used to feel very foggy, and I hurt all over. I also take 4,000mg or more ascorbic acid tablets and eat as many radishes as I can stomach. I was on Risperidone and Zoloft for two years and they didn't work nearly as well or as quickly. I feel 90% to 95% better and am absolutely amazed and delighted.
My question is, would you consider borax safe for cats? I would like to try adding it to my cat's water bowl. She's an indoor cat (used to live outside) who is 14 years old and doesn't have the energy or cheerfulness the other cats do.
Hi Middlebunny, by what you say it could be that you have a systemic fungal infestation so besides the things you're doing perhaps you should follow an anti-candida/fungal diet. It can't hurt to try, you would know whether it's making a difference or not during the first few weeks anyway.
I've read that since garlic can kill bad bacteria it can also kill the good ones so maybe that's why you were having gas, maybe you could alternate its use with taking a good probiotic or eating a good plain yogurt every day.
Since most of the damage to our health due to fungi comes from the mycotoxins they produce I recommend that you take several grams of Vit. C and 100-150 mg. of zinc each day, these nutrients have the ability of neutralizing different types of mycotoxins. Other antioxidants, vit. D, selenium and calcium have similar activity too (taken from http://www.orthomolecular.org/library/jom/1998/articles/1998-v13n04-p244.shtml).

WORKED TEMPORARILY
Re: the borax page. Could you update with information on the time period involved? ie how long is it safe or recommended to take the borax & h202 in water cure?
I have a sore recurring (monthly) rash on my abs and neck. When taking the borax and h202 remedy for about 6 weeks, the rash was rapidly reducing over a few months in total, to the point of thinking that it had gone. But then it came back with full force. I'll try again, but how long is safe?
With thanks.

After five months of use I feel I qualify to respond. Before the use of borax my skin was always dry, tight, red and itchy. The powerful scents and perfumes of regular shower products could be smothering. I now have no desire to use anything but borax in the shower and on my face. Also I have always had an itchy scalp but no longer. Washing the hair with borax is alot like washing it with beach sand (not very nice :))but the results were undeniable for me, no more itch. Unlike other EC posters I am not pleased with the results of using borax alone so after a good scrub and rinse with borax I do shampoo with a regular shampoo. Overall I give borax a big YEA, I am sure my husband will give it a thumbs up also. Although he has the most beautiful skin his only skin issue is back acne which has easily improved by 90% since using borax in addition to regular products (he likes the smelly stuff). Thank you to everyone.

.I have been using borax for months now from the grocery store, I love it and also use it on my girls 5 & 7. Every now and then my skin would itch for no reason almost like crawling and it would keep me up at night scratching, until I found your site and tried it. I keep it in a container in the shower, soap up a wash towel then pour the borax in the towel (no measuring) just make a mound and wash my whole body w/it...it feels sooo good and I sleep like a baby, no itching, also do the same w/my girls and my husband, it feels like exfoliating and everyone loves it here, we have had no adverse reactions except soft beautiful skin. Thanks to everyone...I love your site and read for hrs.
