Thanks,

I tried Ted's alkalizing lime formula two nights ago - 1/4 teaspoon of sodium bicarb and fresh lime juice to 8 oz of purified water. 5 hours later at 3:00am, I woke up with a stomach ache that lasted for hours. The next day, one of my eyes started twitching and basically hasn't stopped since then. I read that baking soda can pull essential nutrients from your body and FOR SURE that's the case with me! I have tried supplementing with magnesium to stop the eye twitch but it hasn't worked. Next I will try potassium supplements. I'm guessing it's potassium that got zapped.

Be careful with the baking soda, everyone!

Next time I will just do straight up lime or lemon juice in water to alkalize.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Baking Soda Not Making Me More Alkaline

I need to know the procedure to check urine ph. Do you hold the strip in the urine stream or do you pee in a cup and then dip it? I got the strips you use for a fish tank, are they ok? I held the strip in the urine stream and it was off the scale for acid. Maybe I held it there too long? I've been doing baking soda (to help dissolve my niacin powder). I sometimes add Apple Cider Vinegar to this mix. The baking soda helps the niacin to dissolve and the Apple Cider Vinegar helps if I add melatonin powder to it at night. Thanks.

Ted's Remedies: lime/lemon, baking soda, sea salt, chicken collagen, orange rind, etc. The first thing I learned from earth clinic/Ted is that it helped to shift my thought process from commercial medicine to natuiral medicines. 2nd, Ted's alkanizing basics became my regular reference book. it works for me and for those who follow my recommendations according to Ted. And 3rd, Earth Clinic has become my main source of reference for my medical problems; And so I am very grateful to Ted and Deirdre.

Alkalizing with Baking Soda Reducing Kidney Stone Formation

Joann (Tennessee) on 01/24/2016

I have heard that Alkalizing your body can kill some if not all cancer's. I have been drinking what my husband and I jokingly call "BS Water", 1 teaspoon Baking soda in a cup of filtered water every morning. My Doctor swears that because my body is now more alkaline instead of acidic that it is helping with my problem of producing Kidney stones. I do not have nearly the amount of pain I did before starting this regime. Can you recomend any other ways to Alkalize a persons body quickly?? Thanx so much!! (BS Water tastes like toilet water smells and it also seems to cause a little bloat?? - Yuck!! ) lol & sigh ;)

Alkalizing the Body with Magnesium Bicarbonate

George Goble (West Lafayette, In) on 12/22/2015

I just read your excellent book "pH - Balanced for Life"

For years I have alkalized (and monitored urine pH) with sodium/potassium/magnesium bicarbonates. As was stated in the book, magnesium bicarbonate is difficult to make. It can only exist in very dilute water solutions containing 1.5g magnesium per liter. Last spring, I discovered, that one could take magnesium acetate, either orally or transdermally (rubbing on skin), and it will metabolize into large amounts of beneficial magnesium bicarbonate. Dr Russell Beckett originally discovered that magnesium bicarbonate in drinking water increased the lifespan in sheep and cattle back in the 1970s. Since then more benefits have been discovered by others. I originally started a magnesium bicarbonate research thread on the Life Extension forums. LEF closed (and erased) their entire forum system last Aug. This research has moved to a Google Group.

Alkalizing Drink: Honey, Lemon, Cinnamon, Baking Soda

Mathias (Hat Yai, Thailand) on 12/12/2015

Honey, lemon (lime), cinnamon and baking soda

2 x per day

1 (very big possibly 0,5 liter) glass,

add half a small teaspoon (not too much) cinnamon and stir with 1 cm water ( to prevent lumps),

add 2 cm honey, again stir well,

add half a tea spoon sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)

add slowly to control and end fizzling of the baking soda, 2/3 cm lemon juice and again stir, if you are on a low carb high fat diet 1 cm is better,

fill up with cold water (never hot or hotter than 40C to protect honey ingredients),

drink half of the glass first thing in the morning and other half just before sleeping, Cheers!

How Will Lime/Bicarb Alkalizing Formula Affect Menstruation?

Sophia (Norway) on 04/19/2015
5 out of 5 stars

Lemon or lime juice is used to stop or delay periods / menstruation. 2 days ago I got started on Ted's famous lime and bicarbonate alkalizing formula, which I take twice a day. Additionally I have been drinking much water with a bit of lemon/lime juice through the day. I wonder if this will delay my period or if I should stop when time comes to get it. Any thoughts or experience on it?

Question for Bill on Ted's Alkalizing Formulas

Sunny (Sacramento, California ) on 03/11/2015

I cannot balance my pH even with the lemon/lime and baking soda. It still remains 6.0. I have recently been diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency and do not receive help from my medical doctor on how to balance minerals.

How to Choose the Right Alkalizing Formula?

Lori (NY) on 03/10/2015

So confused about alkalizing?

My question is; which remedy is used for what? If I add lemon or lime juice will it be better? I bought the ph Balanced for life book and I am still confused which basic recipe to use. Is there any way to make this simpler to understand which recipe to use and why?

I am asking for three different ailments.

1. I am 60 year old woman with arthritis in knee and shoulder. low energy, don't sleep well but basically healthy and no medication.

2. 30 year old son with 3 autoimmune diseases. MS, AS and Graves

3. 20 year old daughter with constant and long belching that goes on for hours. pain in joints on whole right side of body from jaw to feet.Headaches And lastly attention deficit.

1. baking soda and water

2. lemon or lime baking soda and water

3. ACV, baking soda and water

4. baking soda, potassium bicarbonate and water

5. any other additions that I am not aware of and baking soda and water

Why Would Phenol Red and Litmus Paper Show Different pH Test Result?

Rsw (Uniontown, Oh) on 03/07/2015

My daughter bought me an alkaline water stick for Christmas. It's a stainless steel tube with holes that you put into a glass of water and it supposedly changes the pH to alkaline and adds some minerals in a few minutes. I tested it with litmus paper and found the water measured acidic, so I callled the manufacturer. She said water has to be tested with a phenol red liquid that is found in aquarium stores. Hmmm. So I bought the aquarium water tester and it does in fact say the water is very alkaline. Does anyone know if this is legit? Are there two standards for drinking water and aquarium water or is there a reason that litmus paper would register so differently from the phenol red? Anyone here with a scientific background who understands this? Thank you!

I want to know how much baking soda and citric acid I have to take. My weight is 110kg.

At what moment do you preconize to take these citrates ? Is it possible to have an e-mail from a person who has used the citrates successfully ? Thank you for your answers, Andre.

How Do Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda Work Together?

Lora (West Coast, US) on 03/06/2015

Knowing that human organism works on reverse loop reactions - & always tries to maintain balance, also, considering a lot of people these days actually lack the sufficient strength of gastric juice, hence getting a ton of gastric problems alone, followed by poor digestion - how will adding the SODA - gastric juice neutralizer be benefiting the meal processing? It will HALT the digestion & have the "chyme" rotting. Sure, the pancreas adds the buffers, but THIS addition happens much later in food digestive process?

Or even more weird to gulp the mix of acid+base= that results in salts - look at the chemical formula- why would you want this?

I understand that soda and Apple Cider Vinegar - alone are capable of cures, but together? PLEASE EXPLAIN THE PURPOSE FROM THE DIGESTIVE CHEMISTRY STAND POINT. Thanks!

Cottage Cheese and Flax Seed Oil for Alkalizing

101mom (Redding, Ca) on 02/02/2015

Has anyone ever heard of the Budwig Diet? It is for alkalizing the body and all you do is eat cottage cheese (full fat or Quark cheese not in the US) mixed with flax seed oil daily. I want to try this but am currently breastfeeding and wonder if it is detoxing at all. Does anyone know if alkalizing is like detoxing? Will the toxins come through the milk?

Candida Problem After Using Lime/Bicarb

Judy_aus (Australia) on 11/09/2014

Hi Ted,

I have started taking 1/2 fresh organic lime with one tsp of bicarb soda on an empty stomach in the morning yesterday and today to alkalise. My urinary ph went up immediately so it definitely worked. Thank you!

What confuses me is that it seems to really aggravate my vaginal thrush. On both days of taking the remedy in the morning I immediately felt itching, burning and vaginal discharge.

I have specifically not used the ACV as I heard it can be bad for thrush. Any ideas on why this happened?

I am low on magnesium and potassium (supplementing both at the moment).

I also suffer from irregular periods after coming off the pill after 16 years. We are trying to have a baby and so far nothing has really worked.

I have done Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture every week for the last 1.5 years and a few months ago the thrush came and I can't seem to get it away with anything. I started using the borax and it seemed to help immediately until I tried the lime and bicarb soda thing...

Please advise.

Thank you, Judy

Re: Ted's Carbicarb Formula

Pone (California) on 07/04/2014

Ted's book PH Balanced for Life includes an alkalizing formula named "Carbicarb" that is:

  • 1/2 tsp sodium bicarb
  • 1/4 tsp sodium carbonate
  • 1/8 tsp potassium carbonate

Does anyone know of a food grade source for the two carbonates? I have read that these are both very irritating to human tissues, so I have a concern is this formula even safe?

Is there an alternative alkalizing formula that will cross the blood brain barrier and alkalize brain tissues?

Baking Soda and Lemon Juice Overdose Help Please!

Healthminded (Montgomery) on 10/26/2013

Hi,

I am worried I took too much baking soda/lemon juice yesterday. The instructions are a bit confusing on the page I did as #4 states, but obviously completely misunderstood how to do it. I put 3 T of lemon juice in glass then added baking soda slowly and kept adding it and the foam never stopped til almost 1/4C had been added to the 3T of lemon juice. Then filled the glass half-way with water. It was VERY salty. I drank almost half of that mixture before I decided this just can't be right.

My stomach is VERY VERY bloated. No pain, just bloating. I am very thirsty also. I am not sure how to counteract this? Would charcoal capsules help here? Wobenzym N? I have many things on hand, just not sure what to do to try to undo what I've done.

I can't believe I was so stupid. I should've went with my gut and only used 1/2t or so.....hope I can reverse this. Thanks for any advice or help!

Hi; I do realize that the body needs to stay alkaline as to keep dis-ease out of it but is that any dis-ease or is it only certain types as cancer? What about all diseases such as hbp, heart, diabetes, etc. etc.

Thank you.
