My Vitamin B12 Is Too High - What Can Bring It Down?

Toni N. (London ) on 01/24/2022

I did blood tests and every other test is fine but GP said my B12 is too high. What can I do to bring it down please?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

B12 Cures (earthclinic.com), it appears too high B 12 may not mean your body is utilizing it well and more reading is always a good thing.

Hi,

You should re-search the cause of high B12, Cut back on red meat and liver for sure, they have a lot of B12.

You may have what they call a functional B-12 deficiency where your B12 is not getting into the tissues and causes heavy circulation in the blood resulting in a high reading. I have a high B12 reading but it is because I supplement heavily. A high B-12 is not a big deal for me, in fact I must keep it high to address deficiencies. Blood serum B-12 tests are not that helpful. I would suggest you look up a functional B-12 deficiency. Are you or have you been supplementing?

Yes, I have been taking Moringa every day before the blood test. I read online that Moringa is very high B12.

Moringa is plant-based and therefore cannot be high in Vitamin B12. Vitamin B-12 is mainly obtained by eating meat/dairy products or supplementation. B12 is a water soluble vitamin and there are many people who supplement high amounts because of deficiency problems (I am one of those). If you were to check my blood serum levels they would likely be off the charts. A physician knowledgeable in this area would know that Vitamin B12 has an excellent safety record. The worry is if you are deficient or if you have a functional deficiency where B12 is not getting into the tissues.

I hope this helps with understanding B12 and how important it is to the body. There is tons of information about all of this across the internet. Are you having symptoms such as tingling, numbness, dizziness, fatigue, burning mouth, insomnia? If yes, you should have the more advanced B12 tests to determine if your tissues are getting enough as I mentioned in an earlier post. Best of luck to you. :)
