Oregano Oil for sinus infections

'Chronic sinusitis and sinus "infections" have been found to be fungal related predominately, so start there first when treating. Oregano oil vapor inhaled is one of the most efficacious ways to do this. See this link for reference.

This is just interesting. Yesterday I went out to water my garden and the oregano was completely eaten by something other than human. Just further evidence of natural protective instincts and the oregano, although distinctly savory, was the food of choice.

Medicinal Oregano Seeds

The local hardware store sells what is labled "Greek Oregano". We planted some and it smells just like my bottle of wild oregano oil. It's hot when you eat it, too, like the oil is. So you might want to grab a pack of seeds before big pharma notices.

The package of oregano I bought in the spice aisle smells and tastes nothing like it. It's just floral scented and not spicey at all.

Oregano Side Effects

Alex (Latin America) on 12/26/2018

My body reacts badly to medicines and remedies, so I always start slowly. I wasn't slow enough yesterday and got what seems to be my period, except it's over 10 days earlier.

I dad a sore throat for months, I finally went to the doctor and he prescribed me antibiotics which did nothing apart from giving me an infection. Back to the remedies.

I made oregano tea with a teaspoon of dry leaves, I gargled it and felt nothing, then I used about a pinch for a litre of water and it didn't do much good but no harm either.

Then I made 1/3 of a teaspoon for a cup of tea, and I immediately got the bleeding, then cramping all day long and nothing stayed in my stomach for more than a few minutes.

It worked because I didn't feel so much stuff stuck behind my nose/throat area, and it also relaxed my stiff neck, but I'm concerned about a possible long-term issue.

Also, I would like to clarify about a possible confusion in regards on the type of oregano used. All oregano is the same, the common noun is Oregano, Pot Marjoram or Wild Marjoram, the scientific noun is Oreganium Vulgare L.

I was thinking about getting oregano oil, but I won't anymore because even a single drop might be too strong for me.

Oil of Oregano for Sinus Issues

Radrevd (Coeur D Alene, Id, United States) on 09/16/2012

stumbled on your site this morning. Have been using Oil of Oregano for ten years with minimal to no sinus infections or cringing pain behind my ears. Recently started sanitizing my mouth (pockets) with a shot of Porter and a drop of OoO. I then swallow and follow with up to eight drops of OoO in a shot of Porter... Got to get the drops down somehow! I added Echinacea/Goldenseal Tuesday to reverse the onset of sinus infection. So far, success!

The term 'oil pulling' is initially confusing. Swishing or sanitizing evokes a better word picture.

I have not tried ACV for a nasal rinse. I had a perforated septum following surgery in the Navy that is now fully eroded. It's no wonder I sufferred chronic sinusitis and bronchitis. The septum is supposed to trap incoming particles while moistening air before it hits the lungs. My Veteran's Hospital physicians are a bunch or inept quacks that tremble in fear when confronted with an educated patient like me.

I will visit frequently for additional insights. I need to find balance or harmony between Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, low heart rate and blood pressure, and complications from familial atrial fibriliation. The VA has taken a hand off attitude to my herbal supplements and refuse to even provide thyroid medication.

On the subject of Eczema - I have been giving my teen Oil of Oregano in capsules (one in the morning and one at night) to help with her Eczema; this has helped trememdously with the itching and some of the redness. We have tried the cortizone cremes from the doctors and that did not help her at all. I've been reading here today on the suggstions of using Apple Cider Vinegar and plan to try that. I can remember as a small child my grandma taking vinegar to help with her ailments so maybe there is something to this.

As a side note I personally am taking the oregano capsules as well for sinus relief (have been for three years). I used to have a large problem with my sinus passages closing up when I laid down for the evening. I was taking a ton of OTC medications to just be able to go to sleep. I started taking this after reading up about the many health issues that are related to what is in our blood stream and that this herb can help with this. I do belive that this herb has helped us a lot.

Trying Oil of Oregano for Genital Herpes

Liz (Boulder, Co) on 08/17/2009

I have just starting taking Oregano oil everyday, so I don't know if it is working yet but I am hoping for the best. I heard about it through my stepfather he lives by the stuff (for everything). My brother also takes if to boost his immune system. He has been taking it everyday for the last 4 years and hasn't gotten sick. Therefore, I think is is safe to take on a daily base. I take 4 drops of it in the morning and 4 drops at night. I also rub it on the base of my spine since that is where the virus lives and the oil will seep in through the skin.

Oil of oregano killed the MRSA. Here it is 1 year later and i thought i was MRSA free, and there it is a new nasty boil on my inner thigh. I went and bought ____ ___ , just ask for 1 oz __ __. (accept no substitutes, must say ___ on bottle ) I have used the reguler strength in the past, this is a few times stronger. For 2 days I took 2 droperfulls per day (180 lb male ) than went to 1 droperfull per day for 2 weeks. This stuff is very (medicine was not created to taste good ! )chase it like a shot. I put oil of oregano, and a big square Bandaid on the boil the first night and it burned like hell .The next morning put a hot washcloth on it( brings it to a head) and it opened and drained. put the oil and bandaid on it for about 5 days. Incredible healing. I still continue one half dropper oil daily and pray to God it does not come back. I have tried EVERYTHING a few of them are listed on this sight.Turmeric did not do much for me and irritated my digestive tract. Some seemed to help, but gave limited results. This worked better than anything (including some very expensive antibiotics) Get the oil online for less Please try this, I posted this because I want to help people, and I hope this will work for others

Oil of Oregano for Boils From Staph

Ted (Long Beach, Ca) on 08/03/2009

I picked up a Staph infection from a friend who had slept on my sofa. After, 7 days-I got 3 skin eruptions on my inner thigh and starting feeling sick. After seeing a doctor-he wanted to put me on a string of antibiotics. Antiobiotics usualy leaves me with a yeast infection or thrush. After having such bad experiences with antibiotics, I went and got oil of Oregano for about 20.00 I used 4 drops in water and 1 drop under my tongue, Within 2 hours-my energy came back and I started to feel better. After 5 days-I can no longer tell that there was anything wrong with me, in the first place. I used oil of Oregano before when eating out because most restaurants are very dirty and full of workers that carry bacteria, so it has always worked for food poisioning but it also worked for staph and the boils that appear as a sympton of this infection.

(My ailments are actually an inner ear problem with a misaligned spine) but when I rubbed the oil on my knees, shins, shoulders and neck - I felt - LITERALLY - instant, instant relief!! I could not believe it!! As I stood up and walked around for a bit - no popping - no clicking!! This gives me so much hope! I will continue to use this as one of my arsenals and though I know we are not allowed to state specific brands....I do want to say the one I bought is ___. also, I have coated my floss with it & seem to get positive results. Just put a couple drops on the index & thumb finger and run the floss through it. Again, diluted with olive oil, as full strength burns the lips.

Oil of Oregano Feedback

Nanci (Berwick, PA. USA) on 03/08/2009

I have been using oil of oregano for over a year. I put a drop on my finger and apply it to a tooth that was starting to abcess. I had to put it on about five times a day but in two days the pain was gone and never got as bad as the one that had to be pulled. I would get it in a healthfood store to make sure it is safe for digesting. I'm not sure if essential oils for inhaling are the same. *oreganol* is the brand I have

I start to put a drop on my finger and apply it to the glands under your ear by your neck. One or two drops per side. Then I put a drop on my finger and put it under my arm pit because there are glands there also. I do this about five or more times a day. I have been able to ward off a cold completely when everyone else has it. I didn't have any because I lent it to someone and I went a few days with out using this. I got very sick and was in bed for five days. when I got it back I used it and two days later was up. I think I should have used it longer and I didn't. Now I got it back. I guess because the cold got a start here, now it is going to be hard to get rid of it. Now I made a cup of hot water, 1/2 a large garlic diced, 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of ACV and the juice of a Lime. I am loosening up already. Oh and the acv cured the hot flashes I had.

Oil of Oregano for Tooth Pain

Fran Block (Pittsburgh, PA. USA) on 02/19/2009

Oil of Oregano is by far the number 1 remedy for tooth pain. I suffered from pain after having a crown put in. I was scheduled to go back to the dentist for a procedure to have the crown drilled to remove nerve endings to put a stop to the pain. Well, I bought a bottle of Oil of Oregano that had 70% carvacrol, brand name Solaray. I put a few drops on a cotton ball and placed it on the bad tooth and just bit down. It was kept there for about 15 minutes but, just after about 1 minute I could feel instant relief. Oregano oil worked for all my friends that had a tooth problem too! Oregano oil is NOT the herb in your kitchen cupboard, so don't make that mistake. It also works for other problems too and I always have a bottle in the house. No ands, ifs, or buts about it oregano oil will kill the pain almost immediately! Oh, I never had to go back to have anything done with my crown.

I'm returning to Earth Clinic to share what Oil of Oregano has done for my family in the past 6 months! I also want to give thanks to God :)

I had a cracked tooth start hurting, extremely sensitive to cold. I knew it was infected, and it throbbed almost constantly. I began apply oil of oregano diluted in cold pressed olive oil to the gum two - three times daily. This immediately took down the pain each time I applied it. By the end of the week the pain was completely gone, giving me time to get to a dentist.

My husband caught a cold this winter, and after a week of it came down with bronchitis. He refused to try my Oil of Oregano! Stubborn guy that he can be ;) But after two weeks of coughing he relented one night and I started him off on 2 drops under the tongue three times daily. Within 24 hours he reported "feeling better overall with more energy". Within two weeks his cough was completely gone, then we stopped the regimen.

I began feeling a sore throat coming on. My daughter had one as well. I took one little drop of Oil of Oregano and put it in some water and had her drink it before bedtime. I took mine straight, I like the taste. I held 3 drops under the tongue for a bit, then began swishing it in the mouth and swallowed. After one more time of this, sore throat totally gone.

I have a compromised immune system and I'm extremely grateful and impressed by how well the Oil of Oregano has helped me and my family. It's nice to go to my cabinet instead of the doctor.

Oil of Oregano for Fungus Rash

Oil of Oregano cure for fungus rash: Oil of Oregano (Oreganoworld.com has the undiluted, pure oil for $19 oz-I bought this one-very inexpensive) cured what seemed to be fungus-possibly Candida type rash. I suffered with the rash for 14 months, no prescription creams, powders or otc creams helped me. I was at my wits end-the dermatologist took a biopsy-said it was 'like athletes foot/fungus type rash' and prescribed Lamisil pills and cream for 2 months-this did not work. I heard about Oil of Oregano from a radio talk show-Coast to Coast-and, gave it a try. It worked in 3 days-I took it internally and mixed it with extra virgin coconut oil on the skin-it went away. Amazing miracle to me.

Oregano Oil Vs Wild Oregano Oil for Oil Pulling

Edna (Solomon, Kansas, USA) on 01/21/2009

Warning

I wanted to add a note concerning the addition of a drop or two of Oil of Oregano during the OP. You'll want to make sure that you get ORGANIC oil, and not only that, but make sure it is labeled as "Oil of WILD OREGANO! What sells under the label "Oil of Oregano" or "Oregano Oil" is really Marjoram, and does NOT possess the wonderful, natural, anti-biotic properties of Oil of Wild Oregano. Don't let 'em fool ya!

It is oil from a specific wild plant (not the same plant known in Spain as "oregano" and used in cooking) that grows on the hillsides of the Mediterranean region which is the real deal. It is the most powerful anti-biotic agent in nature.

I wouldn't have known the difference if someone hadn't once told me, so I wanted to pay it forward. Thank you for the opportunity.

Loving this site! :0)

Be blessed!!

Oil of Oregano for Colds

I have been using oil of oregano for almost a year, after a suggestion by a naturopath. It seems to work to ward off the many tingles in the throat. I would suggest however, that anyone who is thinking of trying this for the 1st time start with one drop in a half glass of water. The aroma is so strong that most people I give the remedy to are turned off by the very pungent odor. I am able to take it without water but do not suggest it. 3 to four drops in a couple ounces of warm water is very tolerable after a few times of the lighter dose. I have acid reflux and taking the remedy too often definately brings it on, so I do it once in the morning and another time at night. Hope this helps.

Oregano Oil for Herpes

Oregano Oil for Herpes Outbreaks:

I happened upon this about 4 years ago, I've had herpes now for several years and break out about twice a year or sometimes more, if I am not getting enough sleep.

I was using Oregano oil for something unrelated during the beginning stages of a herpes outbreak. Those who have herpes recognize the pain that comes with the beginning of an outbreak. After taking the oregano oil, the outbreak was very mild and I continued the oregano oil for a few days until the outbreak disappeared altogether.

For the last 4 years or so, this has worked for me every single time I've had an outbreak. I've never had a severe or painful one since, as long as I take oregano oil for about 3 days from the onset of the symptoms.

Amount: I cannot take the taste of oregano oil, so I buy the oil and I fill up an empty capsule and swallow it with water, followed by a glass of water. I usually take one capsule, twice a day for about 3 days. At first I thought it was coincidence, but for me this is tried and true.

I hope this helps others.

I wonder if this would eventually kill the virus by taking it daily for a prolonged period of time?? However, I don't know how healthy it is to take Oregano oil on a daily basis.

Any feedback to these questions would be very much appreciated.
