THANKS CINDI! I have have kidney stones for "ever" it seems like they mainly hurt on my right, after several times to the hospital for treatment and a lithotripsoy, it seemed endless well in Feb. I thought my kidneys were on another spell so.. off to the hospital, well.. it was my appendix. I had emergency surgery for that and my kidneys never hurt anymore so.. of course I thought it was my appendix and not my kidneys. then last week my left side starting hurting, so.. I started crying cause I didn't want that pain anymore. I read this and tried it and within 10 min. I don't hurt anymore!!! I haven't passed the stone yet but I am so convinced that I will. I was told they are 7mm.

Spent the weekend in the ER with excruciating abdominal pain - the day a routine colonoscopy. CAT scan and cause turned out to be.. You guessed it.. a 4mm kidney stone.

I suspect that the colonoscopy preparation pills: OsmoPrep (Sodium Phosphate) may be related to this stone since a work colleague had the exact same issue a month ago with same pills. Beware!!

Anyway, I suffered in total agony for two days. All the docs could offer up was Oxycodone painkiller (awful and somewhat ineffective) and sit it out for a "week or so". Clearly not an option plus I have a busy job and could not be out of the office that long. Since I used to be a research scientist I decided to use the web for some ideas on remedies.

Ended up on this site. Based on reading all the posts it seems that of the 5 types of kidney stone three of the most common are dissolvable by acidifying the urine so I decided to try the Olive Oil and Lemon Juice remedy (Apple Cider vinegar was just too much for me to handle - it's like drinking paint stripper). No downside except throwing up or stopping if the pain got worse (I guess it might if you have stones that dissolve in alkaline urine)

Somewhat skeptical, but I bought the most expensive virgin olive oil I could find (which tastes OK in bulk actually) and then dosed myself with 4oz Olive Oil stirred vigorously into 4oz of pure lemon juice (bottled). Based on what I have read elsewhere I think the olive oil lipids coat the lemon juice and get it through the stomach acid and into the small intestine where it is adsorbed very rapidly - which may explain the speed of what came later...

You have to chug it down immediately after mixing before the oil and juice separate - a blender might be a good idea - and I chased it with a very large glass of water without pausing to taste the mixture. Don't stop to think about it just chug it down and think about something else.

Then - MIRACLE - pain went from a 10 (bad) to a 1 (minimal) within 10 minutes. I could not believe it. I never needed a painkiller thereafter.

I repeated the dose after a couple of hours and then a third dose just before going to bed around 4 hours after that. I guess there is some upper limit to what you can take but you probably throw up or something. Anyway, only mild discomfort in the morning.

Repeated the dose three times on day two and urinated through a plastic tea strainer throughout to watch for dissolved stone fragments as other posters recommend. At the end of day two I got a small sliver of what I assume to be a partially dissolved kidey stone about 4mm by 0.5mm in the strainer but no other solid material passed that day or later.

Day three back to work and feel as good as new. UNBELIEVABLE. My doc couldn't believe it - but they took the fragment and are going to test it to see which type of kidney stone it was. I am thinking calcium oxalate. Here are two really good sources for kidney stone information:

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR POSTING THIS REMEDY
