5 out of 5 stars

I started using coconut oil 5 days ago - because I heard that it helps you to lose weight. I've not really tracked my weight so far, but I can say, hand on heart, that I have suddenly found a load more energy from somewhere. My 3 year old still wakes me up through the night and some evenings it was as much as I could do to just sit in the chair watching TV or playing with my computer. I now feel energised enough to WANT to wash up etc.. I have noticed that I need to use the bathroom a lot more (maybe having 4-6 number "2s" during the day - which is highly unusual as normally it's 1-2 every other day) -and I've developed an incredible wind problem in the evening. I normally take 1 tablespoon first thing in the morning with my smoothie and it instantly wakes me up. Tonight for the first time I've taken another tablespoon so I'll see how I get on. Can't say I like the taste of it straight out of the jar - it made me feel sick the first day - but can't taste it in the smoothies. I used Holland & Barratt - which costs. c£9.95 but have no idea if its cold pressed/virgin etc..

Thanks Nicola from the UK! I'm 39 yrs old with a long case of ailments and terrible fatigue. I'm always trying to take anything that will give me energy, with no luck. Somehow I stumbled on to this site, and was reading about how cocounut oil taking by mouth can give you energy along with other helpful uses. I took only about a third of a tsp ( worried that it is a laxative ), and WOW, INSTANT ENERGY! I love this site and I will tell you if I have any other benefits, thankyou Earth Clinic and much Aloha from Hawaii!

I really want to try this. And Already use Coconut Oil for oil pulling. I was wondering, for energy are you using the solid form? Just Eat a tablespoon of that?

Thanks!

Coconut oil in solid form is kinda nasty...

That said, coconut oil and I get along wonderfully! I eat roughly 5 tablespoons a day, and no it is not a laxative. :)

The reason it's so great for energy is because the medium chain triglycerides (the type of fat in coconut oil) is instantly usable by the cells in our body for energy. The mitochondria can eat it up right away.

This kind of fat is very, very healthy and has all kinds of other benefits as well, including digestive, brain, and nervous system boosts!

I just read in a book that fats like this help your body absorb nutrients. People on low-fat diets, the nutrients slip right through and never get absorbed. So what you might be experiencing is just your body ACTUALLY absorbing things like its supposed to.
