Worked Temporarily

FL writes: "I've been dealing with an ongoing case of BV for about 6 months. I've been to to three different doctors a total of 6 times. They all prescribed the ususal stuff. After reading this website, I've been trying boric acide, probiotics, folic acid and half peroxide, half water. None seemed to really do the trick.

Yesterday I found a report from the National Institutes of Health saying that STRAIGHT peroxide (3%) (not mixed with water), used as a douche for 7 days is just as effective as the prescriptions.

Here is a link to that study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14676737 I've been doing the half peroxide-half water douch for two days, and tried the all peroxide douche this morning. I can tell the difference allready! I'm going to continue this for 7 days. I'll write back to report on how it did.

A few weeks ago I wrote that I was trying straight peroxide for BV. It seemed to work, then I got my period so I stopped. Then I had sex again, and the BV seemed to come back. I'm giving the straight peroxide another chance.

I'm curious to know if other women get BV after sex even with a condom. Or, have you tried different condoms and found some are better than others for this. I'm starting to wonder if it is the spermacide that is messing me up. Last time we had sex, my BF used an unlubricated condom, but then we had to use a lot of KY liquid for lubrication. All we had around was the "warming liquid" in the orange bottle. I have to imagine whatever stuff they put in it to make it warming can't be ph balanced!

Stop having sex for awhile. I know it's hard to explain this to your old man, but NOTHING flares up a yeast/bacterial infection like intercourse. It will never go away otherwise. It's painful anyway. You won't want it.
I got a raging yeast infection immediately after losing my virginity five years ago and been battling these infections and bladder infections since then.

I've suffered and it's been humiliating having these infections and odors along with discharge, it's so hard to make men understand about this. With alternative medicine my infections became less frequent and I can control them now, but I could never have sex every single day, maybe about 2 to 3 times a week, because my vag gets irritated, sore, and dried out, and I develop infections. That was the only way I learn to control these infections. (You can't have sex too frequently) let your vag heal, and give her a little down time.

Pam, stick with full strength 3% HP for at least the 7 days. DO NOT be lazy about it, just because the smell is gone after the 1st, 2nd day does not mean you're completely healed. DO 7 days straight. I'd say start the remedy AFTER your period. Blood is alkaline so is male pre-ejaculate/sperm and also female "lubrication/juice", that's why it comes back even with condom use. After 7 days, you should start feeling better without itch, odor, and decreased discharge. Do not have sex "OR" orgasm on your own (female juice is alkaline, it will set you back and you'll have to start from the beginning). No blood no sexual activity for the 7 days. I'm into my 3rd week even after sex and PERIOD!! My discharge is changing back to it's original consistency and texture. I have no odor whatsoever!! I actually have less of a "NORMAL" odor now than before I did the HP remedy - weird. Ladies 3% Hydrogen Peroxide works but, you have to use it FULL strength. Do washes NONE of that 1/2 and 1/2 douching. Douching IS bad for you. Ladies I wish you the best of luck with this crap of an ailment. Try this. It's working for so far. I smell like air!! Hooorayyy!!
