Dihydromyricetin is a highly effective cure for alcoholism. It's particularly promising for those with anxiety disorders. Also known as DHM, Hovenia Sulcus Extract, and Oriental/Japanese Raisin Tree, this supplement is widely available. While seeming a bit pricey at around $20/bottle it can stop daily drinking in its tracks, costing far less per day than even the cheapest alcohol for a regular drinker. There is so feeling of intoxication, just relief from withdrawal, anxiety, and the urge to drink.

Experiment with the dosage, 1600 mg is a good starting place in my experience. I could sing the praises of this stuff all day, but these pages say it better:

Good luck to you!

DHM works very well! I take it every night after I drink alcohol, usually right before bed, and have for over a year now. I buy it on Amazon, the bulk 100 gram bag of powder for $40, and then make my own 1 gram capsules. I take about 1 gram per drink I want to eliminate from my system. The typical pre-made capsules sold are not only expensive but I don't believe the dose is high enough. Not for me anyway. It absolutely does help sober me up quick and completely eliminates a typical hangover, including relief from the anxiety. If you take it before drinking, the alcohol will not be nearly as effective, which can help you lose interest in drinking more.

If you are trying to cut back or quit, definitely give this a try. I've noticed my health improve slowly, especially with skin and memory issues. Even if you aren't quitting or cutting back just yet, it will lessen the damage your poor liver has been enduring for so long. It has many anticancer properties as well. So far studies have found no negative side effects and I definitely tried my best to research risks since I take it so much. If that ever changes I'd love to know. Overall, it's the most effective product I have ever taken to counteract the effects of alcohol. Definitely add it to your arsenal. I also just got tested and discovered I'm B12 deficient... and that could not only be because of drinking, but also causing me to crave it more. Keep fighting the good fight!

Hi there! Do you know if this is ok to take with antidepressants?

Hi Rebecca! Thank you for your post about DHM. I've been buying the capsules from Amazon and taking several of them in the morning, after drinking a lot of wine (1.5 bottles or sometimes even 2 bottles). But it says on the label that these capsules are “350mg”. So this is an example of a dose that you feel is too low? If my math is correct, your “1 gram capsule” is 1000 mg; so, 3 of my 350mg capsules basically. And that's PER DRINK, right? I'm just checking to see if I'm following your math correctly (and if I am, I would definitely need to take way way more of these “350mg capsules” than I've been taking). By the way, I looked up that 100 gram bag of the powder on Amazon that you mentioned, and saw on the back label that they are claiming that 1/8th of a teaspoon has 350mg of the DHM in it. So does that mean that you are putting at least 3 x 1/8th teaspoon into EACH individual capsule that you fill by hand? Thereby creating a 1000mg capsule roughly? And then once you've made a whole bunch of those “1000mg capsules”, you take one PER DRINK? ((And you take them right after drinking, ie that same night, before going to bed— rather than taking them in the morning after))? Thank you for clarifying all this! I want to try your idea of making my own capsules at home but have never done that before, so I'm trying to get it “right” so that this new higher dose of DHM really does help me (as in, less of a hangover the next day). Thanks!
