5 out of 5 stars

Recently my niece had angular cheilitis around her mouth which appears as a rash around the lips that causes painful cracking at the sides of the mouth that can bleed. She applied a saturated solution of borax water to the affected area 3 times per day and it was all gone in less than a week! Another win for borax!

I realize this is an old post, but I am interested in making the saturated borax solution. Can you speculate on how much borax to use? I saw one recommendation of dissolving 3 TB borax in 1 cup water but haven't tried it yet.

Hi Susan,

One level full tablespoon of borax in a cup of room temperature water should make a saturated solution of borax. After dissolving you may see a very small amount of borax at the bottom that hasn't dissolved and that indicates the solution is fully saturated.

Thank you Art! My husband tried this and it worked quickly and well. He applied the solution two times per day for about two weeks.

Hi Susan,

I am very happy to hear that the saturated solution of borax was able to clear your husbands Angular Cheilitis and thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback on this remedy!
