Just to let people know that I got a condition known as hairy tongue about a year ago when I first started messing about with H202. If you are going to use it for a mouth wash, make sure that even the 3% Peroxide is diluted. At most, the ratio is supposed to be 1:5 in the water.

Anyway, I took it straight and it caused a horrible unsightly condition called hairy tongue which I have NOT been able to get rid of.
I have posted something on this site about six months ago - tried everything, salt water, h202 dilute, lemon water, brushing it with a scraper etc and NOTHING works.

I am not knowing Hydrogen Peroxide. I am sure it is good stuff and has its uses but don't use it as a mouthwash like I did without diluting it. Be careful when experimenting.

Take Care (and if anyone knows something that can help me, please let me know)

Daniel

I use hydrogen peroxide to rinse my mouth out after brushing and flossing in the morning....but I absolutely dilute it. About 1/2 & 1/2 should be fine. Not sure what to tell you about the hairy tongue though...sounds like it must be awful though. I'm sorry you had to experience that.

I suffered from a "hairy tongue" or a white coated tongue for many months. I did not know what caused the problem, and tried every oral hygiene method I could think of to remedy it, but to no avail. Everyone to include the doctors said it was because I had a dirty mouth. I have always prided myself on taking care of my dental needs so I knew a dirty mouth was not the problem. To make a long story short, through my persistent, I finally found a doctor who diagnosed the problem. The hairy tongue was caused by excessive yeast in my body. Just as excessive yeast can show up as a vaginal yeast infection, it can also show up as a hairy or white coated tongue in the mouth. The doctor prescribed the proper antibiotics and within days the problem disappeared.

Hyrdrogen peroxide is found in pharmacies but you gotta make sure it's very distilled when mixed with water, cause H2O2 is very powerful and damaging, so first make sure it's at a safe concentration before consuming, as for the exact concentrations I wouldn't be the right person to ask as I don't use it- previous posts give exact concentration details, hope it works out!

I drink alot of coffee with milk and always thought it was the milk that caused the BB. I just did the peroxide gargle and what a difference. It's like someone took the sweater out of my throat. I'm very grateful for this advice and will share with others. Thanks you.

I used to have a somewhat furry tongue(white) I used to smoke for years and drank a lot of beer. What I did was I went out and bought some extra virgin coconut oil, originally to make the swelling in my tonsils go down. I brushed my teeth first and then put a big glob of oil in my mouth. I tilted my head back and let it sink to the back of my throat. I held it there and gargled it for about 20 minutes. When I spit it out, my tongue was immediately wayyy pinker. I think I'm allergic to the oil though, because I ate a few tbsp of it and broke out in minor hives on my finger and lips. But it really cured my white tongue. I stopped using it though because of the hives and now to keep my tongue pink, I dip my toothbrush in mouthwash, brush my tongue, and use a tongue scraper to scrape it all off gently. My tongue has improved 90% in one week.
