Seeking Help for Depression from Weight Loss

Posted By Lili (Nashville, Tn) on 06/15/2015

I'm in my mid to late 30s. Whenever I lose a 10-20 pounds in a few months, I feel an anxious depression, it feels hormonal in nature. What are the hormonal changes in weight loss? I heard fat stores estrogen and that gets released as we lose weight. So would this be too much estrogen in the blood flowing around? Would a little bio-identical progesterone cream help take the edge of until the body gets back in balance? I still want to lose another 20 pounds.

I know depression and anxiety can come from other things like junkfood withdrawal or too little carbs but this seems different to me. I still eat a little junkfood on the weekends and though I'm eating organic Paleo I do incorporate some organic carbs. I've been getting more sunlight now that summer is almost here.

This anxious depression happened before when I lost 10-20 pounds in a few months as well. I've read online others women and even men experiencing similar and some say too much estrogen is depleted with fat loss and more estrogen is needed and other say too much estrogen is now freed from the fat loss and floating in the body and more progesterone is needed to temper it.
