Effective Natural Remedies for Tooth Abscess Relief

Hydrogen Peroxide, Glue

Just like thousands of other's I had 3 fillings fallout which I attribute to drinking "Mountain Dew" which at the time I had no idea it cause's teeth to lose emanel and even split or break off.!

and now just like others I have no insurance to pay the exorbitant fee's of dentist's and I knew, and felt the pain and abcess had to go ! "But how"??

Well, for the past 3 months I've had "no pain" and I filled the lost fillings with "no pain"! For the fast relief of the pain and to stop the abcess that I had I took the cotton off of a cotton swab and soaked it in 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, and put it in the cavity where the pain and abcess was, until all the pain was gone, which wasn't very long !After that, every time I shave or use bathroom I swish a small amount of HP around in my mouth(this kill's all the germs and bacteria in your mouth) "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE LOST FILLING'S?"

I tried some "DEN TEMP" and all it did is fall out after the first meal I had! But I got a small bottle of
gorilla glue AND put about 6-8 drops on a plastic surface, let it set until it started to harden and took a tooth pick and put some of it on the end of the tooth pick, then applied it into the cavities until each was filled,(I also found the cavity doesn't need to be dry!)it sticks just fine and I eat with the GG in and I still swish the Hydrogen Peroxide and My abcess has stopped and "I'm in "NO PAIN AT ALL"!

I fully realize I'll need treatment at some future point when I can afford it. "BUT FOR NOW I'M HOLDING MY OWN!"

Apple Cider Vinegar

I had an abcessed tooth about a month ago and had no antibiotics for it. It was on a weekend so I couldn't go to the doctor. I have some organic apple cider vinegar so I thought, what the heck? Rubbed some on the infected area a few times and it went away. You'll want to rinse your mouth with water afterwards because of the acid in the vinegar. And yeah, the straight vinegar was nasty tasting but it sure helped with my pain.

Garlic, Teabag, Hydrogen Peroxide, Turmeric

After 4 days of horrific pain I finally got smart enough to check Earth Clinic. Abcessed tooth, deep in the jaw line. Pain was enough to make me wnat to jump from a moving car. First, mistakenly, ran to the drug store and spent $15 onon over-the counter JUNK. LOL.

Then, at 2am on the fourth night, I finally checked in to EC. I saw the garlic cures for pain...as I did not have a fresh clove, but did have some chopped garlic in a jar, I immediately went to work. Scooped a teaspoon full and dropped in right onto to tooth. Ahhh...instant relief from the pain.

Next, I had to deal with getting the infection drawn to the surface. Tried the teabag. Just wet a regular old, cheap, black tea bag and put it directly on my gum and closed my mouth over it. I was able to grab some sleep for about 4 hours. A ringing phone woke me up at about noon. While talking on the phone, I felt a huge lump that had form next to my tooth. Quick...checked the mirror, the infection had surfaced.

I sterilized a needle, and one quick poke.....it started draining. 20 minutes and a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide later.....DONE. I had my mouth open the whole time...cleaning with the HP and Q-tips.

I was able to attend a community dinner that evening at 5pm and definitely ate my share of hamburger, salads and banana splits....lol I was completely healed with absolutely no pain. Amazing.

As a preventative measure, I have since been mixing a 1/2 a teaspoon of Tumeric into a shot of vegetable juice...just to ward off any more infections.

Thank you EC! You and your posters have saved my life more than once.

Garlic, Tea Bags

Garlic and tea bags cured my tooth abscess.

I just wanted to say thank you to eveyone who took the time to post their experiences and remedies on this site. I am one of those lucky people who do not have dental insurance, I have medi-cal but they no longer provide dental care for adults. Ever since I had my kids I keep getting cavities which I had never had before. Any way, my teeth are not in the best condition and recently I took a trip to the emergency room for an abscessed tooth that I had. I took the full ten day dose of penicilin that they gave me. When the prescription ran out my abscess returned immediately, which means it was never gone, it was just reduced. I decide to hit the internet to research some natural remedies and stumbled upon this site. After reading all of the suggestions I went to my kitchen to see what I had. I had plenty of fresh garlic as well as several different kinds of tea. I sliced the fresh garlic and placed it in between my gum and cheek, right up against the abscess. It burned for the first few minutes. I replaced the garlic like seven times that night. Then when I finally went to bed I placed a tea bag against my gum in my cheek as well. First I used a green tea bag becuase that was what was reccomended but I remembered the caffeine and replaced it whith a camomile tea bag. When I woke up my mouth felt much better but I could tell the infection was still there. I went to work and did not mess with it for the first part of the day. In the afternoon I did the garlic slices two times to help with the swelling. When I got home the abscess was big again and I was getting ready to do the garlic again. I went in to the bathroom to look at it and I could see that the pus was closer to the surface. Then all of a sudden it opened up and snot colored pus and a little blood came out. I rinsed my mouth with hydrogen peroxide twice and then water. The garlic and tea bag did in 24 hrs. what penicilin could not do in ten days!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I have had an abcessed tooth off and on for a while. I have tried just about everything on it and found one of the best remedies to be eucalyptus tea bags. Put the tea bag in your mouth around the infected tooth and hold it in there as long as you feel necessary. sometimes I would sleep with one. When you take the bag out you can literaly see some of the infection on the bag that has been drawn out of your tooth.

Red Clover Tea

Tooth Abcess

Try Red Clover tea. One teaspoon of Red Clover in a strainer or infuser, pour boiling water over it in a cup to cover, steep at least 7 minutes. One cup twice a day; after the pain dies down take one cup once a day. This one is very effective. I held off the pain of an abcessed tooth for 5 months with just Red Clover. When it was finally pulled the tooth turned out to be the biggest honkin' double abcess I'd ever seen and the surgeon was pretty impressed, too. I would have kept the tooth and mounted it, but it's illegal to give that to the patient in the state of Minnesota. When I had the tooth pulled, I used no antibiotics, just 12 garlic capsules and 3 dropperfuls of Olive Leaf per day. Look ma, no infection!

I took a couple of teaspoons of raw honey in my mouth and kept swishing it around for 20 minutes (procedure same as oil pulling), and the spat it out and rinsed my mouth. Voila! Toothache gone immediately!!

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Several years ago, my husband had an abcessed tooth. A filling had been broken out for some time and we did not have dental insurance. He went to a health food store and asked about a remedy for pain relief. The propietor highly recommended Alpha Lipoic Acid. My husband bought the 50mg caps, which were the least expensive. Back then, he weighed 230 pounds (6' tall). He took 2-50mg caps of Alpha Lipoic Acid every 4 hrs, 4 times daily, for 7 to 10 days, decreasing the dose after the pain was gone.

I can attest to this remedy also, because some time later, I had a toothache that would not quit. I treated myself with Alpha Lipoic Acid. It was kind of like a do-it-yourself root canal. My pain subsided each day and was totally gone within 3 days. I continued to take it a few more days. My tooth is still A-OK 10 years later. Did not require any dental work, even though I've been in for cleaning and x-rays several times since.

On a polar opposite note, I have been reading about Urotherapy - a little known frontier with claims of curing numerous aliments, including various cancers. Each of us have this readily available, tailor-made, built-in health dispenser at no cost. Research online, as it's limited experimental findings are under wraps among med books (has been for years). I did try it myself for a lower abdominal ache, after other natural remedies did not work over a 2 month period. I searched for a cure and found it. After 2 weeks of drinking a few ounces of 'mid stream in the morning', all pain was gone. Never had another symptom of who knows what. No, it doesn't taste bad. Think of it as intended - it's personalized medicine that won't harm you, but most likely will cure you. Do the research. I've found it tried, true and an essential entry in my emergency home care journal.

Turmeric, Salt, Clove, Garlic

Fingz, dont pull out the tooth. Try oil pulling for a few days with coconut oil. It will heal your tooth. Decide whether you want to pull out your tooth only after you have oil-pulled with coconut oil for a few days.

Turmeric, Salt, Clove and Garlic cured my abscess

2 years ago my former dentist did a half-assed job on my root canal. I have had problems ever since, with infections every few months. A few days ago I woke up in incredible pain, the worst I'd ever experienced. Immediately went to the dentist and he put me on antibiotics, but there seemed to be no solution to the immediate pain I was in. Took ibuprofen, nothing. Tried vicadin, zilch.

So I did a little research and finally got some relief by putting a chewed clove right next to the infection - instantly the pain began to ease up, but the swelling would not go down. I tried gargling with listerine, using warm compresses, but to little effect.

Finally I hit the jackpot.

1 cup of warm water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon turmeric

I gargled/swished with this for literally 10 seconds, and the boil just opened up and all the garbage literally shot right out - didn't even need to apply any pressure. With the abscess drained I applied a slice of fresh garlic to the opening, which stung like hell, but it has also helped the infection and reduced swelling. I could actually chew food again!

I returned to the dentist today and he was astonished at how much this thing has cleared up. Granted there is no saving the tooth now, and I will definitely need to get it pulled. But I am thankful to have found relief in the interim and hope this remedy helps some other poor soul out there.

Nobody deserves this type of pain!

Oil of Oregano

I had what I believed was a tooth abcess a few years back. My gum was very sore and if my toothbrush even lightly touched that area it was verrry painful. At the time I didn't have dental insurance.

I simply put 3-4 drops of Oil of Oregano in about 1/4 cup of warm water and swished it around in my mouth; particularly on the side where the abscess/soreness was. I did this several times a day. In a few days I was pain free. In between rinses I also used my finger to dab a bit on my gum, but it does burn some.

I recommended this remedy to other people and it worked for them too. Make sure the Oil of Oregano you purchase comes from the Mediterranean; the kind the cures isn't the same kind of oregano you buy for cooking.

Activated Charcoal

Regarding Tooth Abcess:

My son has recently had to deal with tooth abcess and gum pain due to a mouth injury. He eventually had a root canal.

We tried many concoctions, but the only thing that gave him relief from the pain was to make a paste with a very small amount of water and activated charcoal (get this at a health food store or your pharmacist). We put the thin paste on a piece of paper towel and tucked it in between his gum and lip. He left this on for hours at a time. After a few times it helped the swelling, redness and pain. He did this until he could get an appointment for a root canal.

Tea Tree Oil

tea tree oil: This is a remedy that works for me....Just soak a tiny bit of cotton wool( about a cotton bud sized piece,) and tuck it under the gum in the infected area, replace ever hour or so. The abcess will diminish after a day.You are not supposed to swallow TTO so avoid this by spitting out into a tissue- but its not fatal.- Definitely the lesser of 2 evils.

Ozone
Posted by CeeCee (San Diego, CA) on 05/06/2009

calcified tooth root abcess:

Having never heard of oil pulling, I tried a very expensive alternative method to try and save an upper molar which had a calcified root that was infected and could not successfully be root canaled. The gum was sore and spongy. I signed many release forms before taking injections of ozone in the gums around the tooth. This was preceeded by ozone gas in the mouth, ears and nose and followed by vitamin injections. Six treatments a week apart was recommended. It was painful and painful to pay for-$500 per treatment, but the gum was no longer spongy and painful by the end of the treatment. It was recommended to retreat in six months or so. Unfortunately the ozone dried my saliva glands horribly. And after three plus months there is no improvement in my saliva glands, leaving me with horrible dry mouth.

Now I feel twinges of mild pain in that tooth area as well. I am trying the oil pulling as we speak and we see what happens.

Has anyone else tried similar ozone treatments or does anyone have natural remedies for dry mouth. Thank you. CeeCee

Garlic, Cloves

Cloves, garlic really worked for tooth pain and abscess!

I have had an abscess that started over a year ago. I looked online and saw that garlic works to kill the abscess. I ate 3 cloves of minced up garlic a day, and after 3 days the infection was killed. I had started eating right, avoiding white sugar and white flour, corn syrup, MSG's and all the other 'non foods' out there, started drinking raw milk, etc. About a month ago I started eating bread a lot, wasn't eating as well as I should have. I also binged on chocolate at Easter, ate a LOT of it. So, what happened? My tooth became infected again! I never was able to get the abscess to drain (I tried using a cottonball and salt/baking soda but it was under my upper gum and I could never get it 'right on' where the swelling was, it would always move and hit where the gum wasn't swelled up). So I went on here to find out about cloves. I don't have clove oil, and the pain was getting worse because I kept putting off treating it with raw garlic. I saw someone mention using clove powder, and dipped a cotton ball in that. It burned my gum, but it's hard to get the powder up there because the abscess is so high up near my cheek and gum. So instead, I got some hot water from the tap (probably 120 degrees, not boiling water, about 1 ounce or less, and took 1/2 teaspoon of clove powder, mixed it in with the water and swished it around my mouth. About 5 minutes later, the pain was pretty much gone! I then minced up a large clove of garlic and ate it (with food, because garlic is pretty hot tasting). So far so good! The powdered cloves in the water worked, and wasn't as burning to my gum either. I will eat another clove of garlic tonight before I go to bed. I keep taking raw garlic until the infection goes away and the tooth stops hurting. Excellent advice, thank you! I tell others about this website, in fact I'm going to email my friend now (she has a lot of tooth problems). Thank you so much!!
