Apple Cider Vinegar, Garlic

I take the apple cider vinegar and garlic pills. It doesn't taste bad and they work for an infection. I take 4 pills twice a day for about 7 days, like you would for antibiotics and it clears it right up... For preventive measures, continue taking it like it says on the bottle... this is great for those who don't have the mouth to eat real garlic or drink apple cider vinegar.

Garlic, Hydrogen Peroxide

Stick with the garlic. It works wonders! I had a very similar experience a few months ago and was blown-away by how well the garlic worked.

You didn't mention how much garlic you've been taking. I used fresh garlic. Chop up one good sized clove and let it sit for about 10 min's, then put it on a spoon to take it and wash it down with lots of water.

I did this three times a day and in about 3-4 days, the swelling and pain were completely gone. I can't say enough about the use of garlic for these type issues. Truly amazing.

Garlic, Hydrogen Peroxide

hello, I have been reading everything on here, last week I started noticing that my tooth was hurting, im not a big fan of the dentist so I tried ignoring it, then the pain got more severe so I came on here and saw that hydrogen peroxide has helped a lot of you. I tried it and it helped a lot, but then my jaw went numb and I noticed it was a little swollen. Pain in my tooth is minimal, I can eat. And sometimes it doesnt hurt at all. Just my jaw hurts and is swollen. I am trying garlic, but any ideas on the whole jaw situation? my ear has been killing me too.

Interesting post Erin! My husband has had his share of infected teeth. Fortunately, I have all of these ingredients on hand and made note of what you did for the next time (there always seems to be a next time! ). Cheers!

Took my 9 year old daughter to the dentist and come to find out she had a gum abcess and infection in a tooth with a cavity. Of course their first recourse was to put her on antibiotics so they could pull the tooth 1 week later. I refused the antibiotics, nicely, but I still got the dirty look and the "note" on the file. So, my daughter and I were very determined to stop the issue in it's tracks... Just to prove them wrong if nothing else. This isn't for the lazy at heart... it's 7 days of killing an infection and keeping it killed.

First of all, NO sugar. She got whole grain bread maybe once per day, but not at all if we could get away with it, other than that, no grains. Pasturized dairy was cut way back to just cheese on occassion. That means no sodas or juices, water was the drink of the week. Whole, low sugar fruits are okay (apples, berries, melon), and of course veges.

Okay, now for the fun part: once per day she did a rinse of water with baking soda and peroxide (I never really measured it, just put some water - maybe 1/4 cup?? -- in a cup with maybe 1 tsp of baking soda and 1/2 tsp of peroxide or so). Twice per day she did a rinse of a commercial tea tree mouthwash with an extra 4 drops of grapefruit seed extract added. Each rinse is done after brushing the teeth.

Once per day, the infected area was sprayed with 2 squirts of colloidial silver, 10 ppm.

Every day she took supplements of:
Vitamin C, 1000 mg
Vitamin D 10-15, 000 IU
Chelated Zinc 100 mg
Oil of Oregano 45 mg (standardized to 70% carvacrol)
Olive Leaf 310 mg with 40 mg of powdered extract standardized to 18% oleuropein
Krill Oil for Omega 3's
A Garlic supplement for Immune support, though if I could have gotten her to take whole, crushed garlic I would have been happier.
And Alpha Lipoic Acid 100 mg

Definitely believe in leaving nothing to chance.

We started this regimen on a Monday afternoon when she got home from school, and by Wednesday she was totally pain free. The cavity itself lightened in color. We kept it up for the entire week, and by the time she got to the dentist for the extraction... Well, they were surprised. Looked at her file, looked in her mouth, asked her if there was any pain (she replied no, naturally), and then the super sweet assistant actually asked me how we did that. They confirmed that she was completely infection and abcess free.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I always like to see amounts and directions... So hopefully this can help someone else :-)

Oil of Oregano

So my poor husband has been suffering for several months with 3 teeth that needed root canals. Our insurance wasn't due to renew for some time, so I came onto this site and found some home remedies. He took Hydrogen Peroxide internally -- I diluted drops in water for him. He started with 2 drops and went up to 18 then worked back down. We stopped at 18 because he started tasting it then. He rinsed his mouth with a glycerin mouthwash (a popular natural brand has it for its base. ) He applied clove oil to the sore places and put it on his floss and flossed with it. All of these things kept everything stable while we were waiting for the insurance to kick in.

However, in the past two days, his pain has become unbearable. He was moaning and crying out... Writhing in pain! He's tried all the OTC pain medications at their presciption dosage and even a powerful pain medication he got at the dentist yesterday. Nothing helped. He did not sleep at all last night.

I came to check on him at 5 am (he was in the living room. ) He was distraught from the pain. I got on this site and another one and found suggestions for tea bags and oil of oregano. I reasoned that I could put the oil of oregano onto a wet green tea bag and get "more bang for my buck" so to speak.

He put it onto the sore area, and within a few seconds was calmer. He spat out the excess fluid as it accumulated for a few minutes -- perhaps 10 minutes? He then took the bag out and slept solidly for 7 hours!

He just ate something a few minutes ago and was rubbing at the sore area. I fixed him another tea bag with 6 drops of oil of oregano on it. Within a few minutes, he was falling asleep again.

Highly recommended!

Incedently, he did see the dentist yesterday and is scheduled to have these teeth removed next week. This will get us through though!

I have been having an issue with an infection in the bone beneath a failed root canal. Antibiotics didn't touch it, and I was told the tooth would have to come out. I started chewing raw garlic for the pain, which worked immediately. I then started rinsing with a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water, and after only two days, the swelling has gone down and the tooth again feels like it "fits' in my mouth. I would never have believed that garlic and H2O2 would have made such a remarkable difference, but it has. I may still have to have an extraction in the future, but for now, all is well and that's good enough for me! Thank you EC for this amazing resource!

Cashews

I have used cashews for 11 years to control a cracked wisdom tooth. It did get abscessed when I got lazy about 4 years ago. A couple cashews chewed up morning and night to control it (do not brush the nutty Film off)... Then 3 or 4 times a day when it abcessed and it was back to normal in less than a week. But duh! Limit sweets and brush after eating the stuff... A candy jag is what got mine abscessed.

This year I discovered that cashews could get rid of my ulcer. Dr OZ pointed out that h-pylori was affected by cashew products. So after my Dr. Couldn't verify the h-pylori I tried 2 cashews every waking hour for 2 weeks. After the third day the pain was much less but I stuck with it for 2 weeks. I did a repeat of 2 weeks after a week off just to be sure. 4 months later feeling great! My friend who also had h-pylori was tested 4 times before diagnosis. She suffered a lot taking the antibiotics for it and still has A painful gut 6 months later... Hmmm... After 2 years of suffering I am pain free!! I love my cashews!! I use the "raw" ones too.

Garlic, Cloves

I was young when I got braces, which messed my teeth up more then anything! I had my top teeth extracted, after years of fighting with broken teeth, infections, and so on. (now goin through alot with my bottom teeth) ive tried EVERYTHING.. But have found that whole clove garlic (3-5 cloves a day.. I cut them up and swallow them with water) will help with infection, and clove oil works wonders! I couldnt get over how fast clove oil can take away the pain. I dip just the tip of a q-tip into the oil, and hold it to my tooth for a few seconds, then the surrounding gums. It will make your mouth numb if you use to much! I had severe pain that took over one side of my face.

I cant stress how much clove oil has saved me from those sleepless nights, and awful pains. The only other thing that has worked for a little while was natural vanilla extract. I did the same thing, q-tip dipped in the vanilla, but I would take the cotton off the q-tip, and press it against my tooth or gums. I really hope this helps someone out there.. This pain, and having to deal with tooth pain/infection/abcess is the WORST! Btw, garlic works wonders for colds and sinus infections too!

Grapefruit Seed Extract

★☆☆☆☆

WARNING!

I wish somebody had mentioned in the tooth abscess thread that grapefruit seed extract should not be used full strength in the mouth. It was one of the few items mentioned in the thread that I had in the house when at 3:00am this morning I read four pages of the thread and decided to try it as part of a poultice in a bit of gauze, which I left in my mouth until the pain from it seemed so much worse than the abscess I was trying to relieve that I got up and took it out (about three hours). I've been sick and have missed a lot of sleep over the last five months... At 3am I'm not too cogent. I didn't read the bottle. Now I've got second-degree burns in the entire left side of my mouth.. Gums and cheek. It's worse than the tooth abscess, will last longer (with tissue sloughing and probable infection), and is likely to leave significant scars. Now there's no chance that I can avoid the antibiotics. I really could have used just a tiny warning.

I had a abscessed tooth that was giving me fits. This is what worked for me. 2-3 oz. of very warm water, add 2 tablespoons of 10ppm colloidal silver and only 6 drops of DMSO. Swish this around your bad tooth. I try to keep it in my mouth about 2-3 minutes then spit it out. Keep doing this till you have used all the water mixture. Do this 2 times a day and in 2-3 days the infection and pain will be gone. It really worked for me.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Hello: I recently took the advice on Earth Clinic -of using some of the suggestions on my daughter's tooth abscess after some dental work( peroxide, baking soda etc. ) The situation has greatly improved. I did however make some kind of mistake with the bee propolis... Although it seemed to really help/work- I bought too high of a dosage and now the sticky brown resin is on her teeth! Any suggestions? Thank you!

About grapefruit seed extract, I will definitely agree that it's a potent natural anti biotic and have used it myself for various ailments. However, everything I've read points to the fact that it does no harm to the healthy flora found in our bodies. I do agree that a dose of probiotics is always good as well! :)

Grapefruit seed extract is a natural antibiotic, so it is great for external and internal use for ANY KIND OF INFECTION. But just as with perscription antibiotics, it will kill all bacteria in a human, including the probiotics in your gut which help us all stay healthy. GSE is comparable to penicillin. So if any of you in suffering take this wonderful supplement, make sure to take high quality probiotics(perferaably enteric coated) for at least 2 months.

Found this site a few weeks ago during a nasty abcess, or infection I had with a tooth that had already had root canal therapy and a crown. I had swelling in my cheek, eye, as well as a horrible headache on the left side of my head. I thought I was going to die. My endondist was booked, and could not see me for 2 weeks My MD Dr. Prescribed antibiotics, but they were working very slowly. I started several of the home remedies on here, but the two that I could see visible results working after a few days, were the oil pulling with sunflower oil ( 1 to 3 times a day), and the fresh garlic on my gum. I tried rinsing with hydrogen peroxide, and black tea bags on my gum, but found that they both pushed the infection further up into my eye. The oil pulling and fresh garlic actually brought the swelling down. Saw my endodotist today, after 2 weeks of these remedies, and x-rays are clear. He can't explain it. He said keep my fingers crossed that this was an isolated incident that healed itself. I will continue the oil pulling with Sunflower oil it is amazing. I feel that I have been healed by these two home remedies.

I have been taking ACV for other issues, and have had some pretty serious issues with an abscessed and cracked tooth I cannot afford to get fixed. They hurt and I was getting bumps in my gums from the infection. . . Then it stopped, but I had no idea of any connection. . . I ran out of ACV last week, and sure enough, I was having issues with my teeth again. I bought an organic brand ACV this morning drank 2 tbs in water, and had another dose this evening, the infection is almost gone again. I always take 2tbs of ACV in water in the morning and late afternoon for general good health reasons, but the tooth thing is a wonderful bonus. Who would have ever guessed.

Grapefruit Seed Extract

To those suffering tooth abscesses, I recommend Grapefruit Seed Extract. Put about ten drops in half glass of water, stir thoroughly and swish around the mouth before swallowing. Do this a couple of times before sleep and next morning - pain gone! This stuff is great as it works for sore throats, incipient colds, upset stomach and fungal infections. You can soak your athlete's feet in it, it's safe for children, takes care of diarrhea. You can dilute and use as a topical antiseptic for open wounds and I dab it neat on insect bites and a precautionary dose each morning will protect from the trots if you are vacationing somewhere the water is dubious. It is a natural anti-biotic and anti-viral and, unlike amoxycillin etc, will not kill off the friendly gut bacteria and expose you to fungal infections. In other words, it's really effective and won't hurt you and because it is good for so many things you shouldn't leave home without it. Tastes bitter of course but you can put in orange juice to mask the flavour if you are a cissie. I've used this for ten years, sung its praises to all and sundry who usually ignore me but the abcess sufferers to whom I have given some are now TRUE BELIEVERS. Nickie

Periapical Cyst: Eliminate it with Gauze, Water, Oil Pulling, Garlic Oil, Tumeric

A Periapical Cyst is formed after trapped puss cannot escape through the infected tooth's abscess, and instead finds a path into the jaw and cheek near the tooth abscess origin. The cyst usually gets quite large, expanding the cheek outward, putting pressure on the mouth and face. Until the puss finds a way out, it will remain. A possible cause is infection from biting down hard on the weak tooth, or through a narrow opening in the abscessed tooth.

SUMMARY

For a whole week I suffered with this type of cyst, making my cheek look bloated as though I had a very thick slice of salami between my jaw and inside cheek. It hurt on touch, and made my lower face nerves numb from the pressure. It was a bit embarrassing in public, but my health was most important, as this can sometimes be life threatening if it moves too far into the face or down the neck. Once you see the puss, you'll know why.

The day it finally broke, that morning, I decided to stuff a Gauze pad into my mouth throughout the day, to even out the look of my distorted face. By afternoon, the puss finally found a way out of my cheek tissue, through a tiny blister hole it pressed against, just above my lower jaw gum-line. Once the flow began, I carefully massaged out the rest, spitting out the salty, yellow-green puss and blood into the sink and rinsing with a glass of 50% hydrogen peroxide/ 50% water mix to disinfect the mouth.

I didn't have to use the scalpel, thanks to the gauze pad, stuffed into my upper cheek just above the infected tooth on the lower jaw. The pad was small enough to fit in my mouth, but large enough to press constantly against the cheek tissue from 10 AM to 2:30 PM that day only to my surprise. The gauze was very irritating to my inner cheek, and swelling began at 11 AM. By 2 PM, to the point the swelling of my cheek tissue was pushing against and almost over my lower teeth. By 2:30 PM, a hole broke through the blister on its own and the puss began seeping out. (Read below for the full story). To say I was pleased this worked was an understatement, as I was about to give up.

REMEDY INGREDIENTS:

If you have an tooth abscess and a cyst filled with puss in your cheek, try this:

1. Firm GAUZE PAD (or paper towel will work) folded near the problem tooth, against the cheek with the swelling and puss pocket. Gauze or paper towel absorb moisture and add constant wet pressure to the infected cheek, to help it form an outlet blister where nothing had been before the Gauze Pad was added.

2. Regular use of OIL PULLING as suggested on this site. I used Virgin Olive Oil and Canola Oil. Also, swishing with Hydrogen Peroxide and Water mix, and brushing with Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate) helps too, drawing out toxins.

3. Tumeric Capsules or Tumeric powder to reduce swelling at first. Once you put in the Gauze Pad though, any later swelling is a good sign if it's building inside your mouth's cheek tissue, gums. This indicates it's trying to for a blister to escape through, as it was unable to make it through the cavity tooth.

4. Garlic Oil soft-gels, Liver Cod Oil softgels (A and D), Vitamin C, Multi-Vitamins are helpful to your body. Vitamin A treats the skin. I took a few more than suggested.

5. Water. If you're 200 pounds, I suggest 100 Fluid ounces of water per day (under a gallon). Water reduces infection. Imagine not drinking water, how will the infection leave your body if your organs are drying out, unable to flush infection from your body? If you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated. Drink plenty of water, just don't over do it as it could kill.

6. Eggs. Eggs provide amino acids, omega fatty acids, protein, vitamins, etc. An egg helps provide plenty of nutrition for growth and health. Chicks thrive on the yolk especially. The yolk is key. Cooked or eat as you like.

After that, It could take as little as one day for the blister to form, or longer, depending on your intake of the ingredients. Altogether, I only used the Gauze Pad for about five hours before it opened up a blister in my inner cheek for the puss to escape. Of course, the week of taking the other ingredients no doubt played a role, but nothing sped up the process as fast as the Gauze Pad that final day to my surprise.

ORIGINAL SYMPTOMS, CAUSE and detailed SOLUTION: 7 days plus 1 day cured:

Friday night, I bit down hard on a slice of pizza, and intense, sharp pain shot down my cavity tooth. About fifteen minutes, the pain eased up mostly, but by evening that day, there would be no sleep. Throughout all day Saturday, the non-stop excruciating throbbing intensified full force, and the tooth was very sore to the touch, followed quickly by a fever including the chills, weakness, sore throat and congestion, but no vomiting or diarrhea. And I had a numb feeling on my lower lip and chin, which was slowly spreading to my right cheek.

From experience, I covered myself in heavy blankets and stuck my head over an oil filled radiator space heater, putting life on hold. Staying so hot that I "sweat out" the illness, with more water than I normally drink (2 gallons over 1 day) and plenty of replenishing vitamin C and A, D, and Calcium, with sunny side up eggs. By Sunday night at 6 PM, the fever was mostly gone; no more sore throat, weakness, chills or throbbing tooth.

Having not slept and barely eaten for two days in a row, the absence of pain allowed some shut eye, for 2 hours sprints, as I'd wake up with intense thirst. I continued drinking, but by that evening, the numbness in my face was continuing into the night, followed by swelling of my chin, and finally the right lower jaw of my face. The inflamed cheek expanded about 3/4" from where it normally rests.

Sunday throughout the entire day, I kept a warm wet compress rag held with my hand against my cheek and after seeing on EarthClinic that Tumeric reduces inflammation, I went out to the store and stocked up on the powder and the capsules (which are more tolerable to ingest). Also on pure Olive Oil for oil pulling/swishing, plenty of odorless garlic softgels, more vitamin C, cod liver oil softgels, and multivitamins.

I tried it all, and the swelling finally went down by the next morning (mostly thanks to the compress and Tumeric), but it was time to go to work with a huge Periodical Cyst/facial lump on my cheek, still filled with puss trapped under the tooth. I discovered quickly, food going into the tooth wasn't the issue, but when I first bit down on it, that caused trauma to the lower right jaw nerves, resulting in numbness and puss infection beneath the tooth root. Having no way out through the tooth, the puss found a path into my lower cheek bone and tissue. The lump was very firm, but didn't hurt much, but the pressure on my lips was heavy. I could barely smile.

That Monday, I felt very tired having not slept, and weak, so I attempted to sleep all day and continue with the treatment. By Tuesday, the swelling had not even shrunk an inch, and I had to go to work.

Continuing this all week, it finally turned to Friday night once again, and this thing was still on my face. I'm normally embarrassed by such things as this, so that night, I decided to put a GAUZE pad in my mouth to balance out the protruding bump, stuffing it just above the now swollen lower jaw. "Looks more even with my face", I thought.
Saturday morning, I could see swelling inside my cheek, so I replaced the Gauze with a new one and almost gave up as I drove up to the hospital, then decided to follow my instinct, and drove away. I was going to try and cut a hole in there and save the money. Throughout the day, I picked up groceries and shopped for foods that would feed the bones in my teeth, not sap away the calcium from them like so many junk foods. From 10 AM to 2 PM, the gauze was becoming more irritating against my inner cheek, swelling more than it had all week. At 2:30 PM, just as I got home, something wonderful happened. I tasted a very unfamiliar, salty, foul substance in my mouth. I stopped the car and glanced in the mirror, seeing a big ball of yellow-green puss sapping out of my cheek tissue just near the gum-line. Thrilled, I began spitting out over six tablespoons of puss and blood, carefully pressing on the cyst to allow more to follow out. Inside, I immediately rinsed my mouth with hydrogen peroxide/water mix, to cleanse the mouth. An hour later of this continued treatment, the lump is completely void of puss, though it is still slightly swollen having gone through such abuse. My face is back to normally thankfully and I'm convinced all that work finally paid off, mere minutes before I was going to "cut a hole inside my mouth" from the misery. Absolute relief and joy, with some apprehension it could always return.

Having learned a lesson of a lifetime, I will no longer take my teeth for granted. I have been reading much on "Curing Tooth Decay", and will eat properly once more. A man named Doctor Price, back in 1936, wrote a dental health book about various isolated villages across the world who ate rye bread, eggs, cod liver oil, butter, cheese, some greens, and milk from grass fed cows, and they were immune to tooth decay. Alternatively, he discovered that many in America, who ate mostly white bread and sugar with skim milk, suffered from many cavities and teeth that had trouble fitting in their narrow jaws, despite brushing and flossing everyday. You can find out more online with a search for "Cure tooth decay". "

Update: I went to see the Dentist today and was told that the tooth I had the abscess on needs to be extracted. Years ago I had a root canal and crown done on this tooth, and to my understanding the root now is fractured (the crown is loose due to the crack). According to the Dentist the options are extraction and either an implant or a bridge. The cost share on my part would be appr. $3500.00!!!

A week after I wrote my first post, I finally decided to go ahead and get the Oil of Oregano made from the wild mediteranean oregano (I had used the "regular" oil of oregano and didn't seem to have much success with it). I continued treating the tooth with oil of oregano applied to a small piece of gauze, left on fissure above tooth, overnight. In addition I started taking the mediteranean oregano in caps. from the original producer. I haven't had any pain, nor drainage ever since. The fissure above the cracked root tooth is still there though. Is there anyone out there that has knowledge about how to avoid getting the tooth pulled? If the tooth would be a molar I most likely would go ahead and have it pulled but it is tooth no. 12 and pulling it would be very noticable to other people. Any advice? Anybody??? Please!!!

Abscessed tooth

I have been coming across this site about 4 weeks ago, I was searching the Internet for a natural cure for an abscessed tooth (I had my teeth cleaned 4 days prior to it, could that be the cause of the abscess?) and came across this site. I have applied raw garlic and also consumed it, used black and green tea bags with sea salt on the abscessed tooth (I contribute the abscess opening and draining to this remedy), took 2 times 2 tablespoons of Nano Silver for 10 days, 875 mg of organic Grapefruit Seed Extract 2 to 3 times a day for I don't know how long, 5000-9000 mg of Vitamin C (with added Calcium) per day, Vit. D (to improve immune system) 20,000 IU's daily for the last 15 days. Aged Garlic Caps. 3 Caps 2 to 3 times per day for the last 7 days or so, I drink at least 1 cup of green tea per day. I started oil pulling 10 days ago with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil mixed with 5 drops of oregano oil (Carvacrol content above 55%)1 to 2 times per day, 1 to 2 drops of oregano oil on gauze applied directly on tooth, I leave it on over night. About 5 days ago I also started taking alpha lipoic acid 400-500 mg per day. The result: the pain has left, the abscess has opened and drained, but the tooth is still somewhat tender and has still been filling with a little puss every day, that I have to drain. Is there anything else that can be done - besides going to the Dentist? Does anyone have a suggestion??? Feedback is appreciated, thank you!!!
