I believe the Lichen Sclerosus is a yeast/fungal infection and can also be a Thyroid problem. My family uses Essential Oil of Thieves, Ocotea, Oregano... To name a few that are antifungal oils and do no harm to the body. Myrrh oil is also GREAT for the Thyroid. Please do not try using oils that are not pure... Know the company you purchase from and make sure they are pure. Fungus disappears when the oils are used.
LS is an autoimmune issue and not a fungal or yeast issue despite the name (lichen. It just has that appearance when looked at under a scope).

Hello, I too work in the medical field, have you had any success with new insights from MD? Do you visit Pubmed frequently? They have found the tissues to be abnormally deficiet of antioxidants. When I use them (above) it really does decrease the symptoms. Lycine works too.
Mine stopped reacting, skin was pinking up with oral intake of vinegar - the very same reaction with MS and vinegar. MS is an autoimmune disease. Vinegar inhibits a reaction of the autoimmune.
Western medicine has found that some of the medication used for anti rejection for organ donors are working but not resolving it.
Does the Estrace stop the progress of the disease?
For research purposes do you have Estrogen dominance? Thyroid link?
I was hoping Ted would comment, maybe he has something to offer.

I have what my doctor described as 'Extreme LS' this is where I have LOST most of my vulva and all that remains is the opening ( very small) and part of my clit which is not very painful to. The lenght of my vagina has shrunk to just 2 inches from top to end and if I lose the remainder of my clit I will have to have some sort of mobile tubes to incert when I need to pee.
I have tried everything, cremes lotions ACV, oils, you name it I have tried it including Perrins offerings, even used steroid cremes. Nothing worked. Todate there is NO cure and may not be one in my life time (I am 67) but there is some trials been done in Sweden or Denmark where they are trying out natural Progesterone creme. , available only by script in Australia ( big Pharm dictates here, so Aussie and NZ have to buy from USA). You also have to be careful using Progesterone if you are postmem, which I found to my cost, on 2 seperate days after two small dabs I was in agony with miscarriage/labor pains and the need to bare down, this lasted over 1/2 an hour till I had a show of blood. It turns out that I have a medium fibroid in on the back wall of my womb and the Progesserone acted a prelude to esterone which fed the fibroid and caused it to grow and as a postmenopausal woman that made my body think I was pregnant and it had to go. Thats what my last gyno said, but there again she said I had vaginitis when I first visited her for the itch and dryness 2 years ago. My GP has now got me on DermAid 0.5% which is not so harsh and it helps with the itch, I also sit in a baby bath of warm water with 1/4 cup ACV 1/4 cup Bicarb soda, and 1 cup Magneesium Chloride which I buy from food ingredient suppliers and I find this is works as well as anything I have tried so far and all 3 are good for the body anyway. I will try Argan oil in the blend next for the dryness.
Multiple Remedies
Have you tried coffee enemas? They help with autoimmune diseases and LS is autoimmune. Coffe enemas are also pain relieving and anti-inflammatory. I've been doing one or more a day for two weeks and am experiencing positive results, the condition is slowly improving. I also feel that there is a connection with the disease and the gut, hours before I have a bowel movement, the itching increases. I think that if I improve my digestive health and rebuild my gut flora, this may also heal the skin.
Anti-Candida Diet
Im all ears... What's your concoction? I would love to know.
Thanks, ~KarenAnti-Candida Diet
Hello,
I have had some success with all the self experiements I have tried.
The ACV completely stopped all symptoms for me, but I couldn't take the ACV as it thinned my bones and bothered my joints. I found a interesting article at Pubmed indicating that acetic acid (ACV) stops MS symptoms, in relation to inhibiting a gene tranference. The following was a conclusion about LS being related to an oxidized state and recommending anti-oxidants - thus my remedy below.
The enzymatic antioxidant defence in LS was found to be significantly disturbed. CONCLUSIONS: This is the first study to demonstrate oxidative damage to lipids, DNA and proteins in LS, revealing a novel pathophysiological mechanism which may contribute to sclerosis, autoimmunity and carcinogenesis. Therapeutic strategies using antioxidants might be a useful new approach in the treatment of LS and could also help to prevent secondary malignancies.
For the Itch, I buy PURE Aloe Vera, mix with Lysine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Cystene, Primerose oil (a few drops), Grapeseed extract and it usually keeps that BAD fire at bay without any flare ups and without the itch. I have had it for 11 years and only have (1) 1/4 inch scar. I do have some atrophy, but that came from attempting to use OTC steriod creme (absolute no-no). The scar over my pubic bone completely resolve using the ACV and above remedy. I thought I was totally resolved when I was taking the Vinegar daily, I had nothing, no symptoms and skin was regaining pink color. I stopped taking vinegar because it was demineralizing my bones - started noticing joint and back issues.
I regained minimal symptoms when stopped so continue to use above mixture with good results to stop the progression. I am going to start adding Hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide to the mixture. I am going to start taking niacinamide (small dose as it can be toxic if to much) I am hoping for a straight out healing!!! I am certain it is related to thyroid issues - that started when they put me on Premarin after hysterectomy - causing my thryroid to fail completely. I will post with results.
TED - HELP!!!!
I want to know if Ted would answer a question. I have been taking Armour Thyroid for 11 years, did an Ultra sound found out the thyroid tissue has regenerated. Is there anyway... somehow I can get off of the medication? Have your ever heard of this?
Thanks.
Multiple Remedies
I have had LS for 7 years. I was diagnosed during the 7th month of my first pregnancy. I have tried so much of what is listed here. I also began using the Perrin's Cream about six months ago. It is by far the most helpful thing that I have tried. I am having a flare up now (that is driving me MAD), and I have had to use the steriod cream, BUT what I find is that the Perrin's Cream seems to help restore health to the damaged skin (by the disease and the steroid creams). Healthy diet is crucial. I am a health nut... When I have a flare up, it is usually linked to STRESS! Stress reduction and dealing with it well is crucial. I struggle with this! I will say that since using the Perrin's Cream, I have only had one flare up. Use the CREAM, not the ointment! The ointment is TOO strong and will burn! You are not alone. I am sorry that all of you are dealing with this also.
Chemical Link to LS
Asian ladies report that LS is caused through the non washing of new under garments before wearing. I worked in China for 10 years and developed LS whilst there and went to see a doctor (Western man) he had no idea of what it was or how to treat it. I went to a pharmacy and the old gent told me the cause was due to new clothes unwashed first as they were contaminated with all sorts of chemicals. Same applies to chain store(cheap imported clothing) clothing.
I use Neem 100% pure oil after I have soaked in a small bath (baby bath if you can fit lower end in it) in Magnesium Chloride flakes once a week for about 20-30 minutes. 2 table spoons to half a bucket or 5 litres of warm water. Relax and read a book or something. Wont cure it but it brings relief and you wont be using dangerous/harmful drugs.
I have had LS for 7 years. I always wash my clothing, etc before wearing them.
Apple Cider Vinegar
I have LS for years now. No one has ever told me about diet, just a cream from the doctor, it hurts so bad I can't wear pants, what is good for this? I use a fan at night. Please help
Vaginal Medication Link to Ls

WARNING!
Lichen Scelrosis - theory yet to be proved:
I have a theory that moderate to high use of Vaginal creams for Thrush etc aggravate or possibly even CAUSE LS. The only way to find this out is to get as many women as possible with LS to say whether they have used these creams a lot in the past. I had a history of repeated Thrush and used the creams many times - I notice now that use of these creams aggravate the itchiness and thinness of the area for up to 2 weeks after use. Please post a answer and see if we can 'find' the cause - the Drs have no idea, so....

Vaginal Meds causing LS symptoms
This is in response to Kathy from Brisbane, Australia:
I have had the same theory for 4 years, that moderate to high use of Vaginal creams for thrush, vaginitis etc aggravate or possibly even CAUSE LS. 6 Months after taking precription medication for bacterial vaginitis the thinning, tearing, itchyness around th vulva area began.
Ladies please be aware when taking such meds.
Best of luck.
Vaginal Medication Link to Ls
★★★★★
Hi Everyone, I've been looking for anwers in many places regarding LS, I've had this for over 10 years myself and it affects my bottom/anal area mostly and I just got fed up with it all!
#1 I've greatly redued the amount of gluten I take in, amost impossible to go Gluten free, but baby steps...
#2 Whole foods, veggies, meats, fruits... I TRY to stay away from processed foods.
#3 and the most important Take a GOOD probiotic. NSM sells a great probiotic, available online.
#4 DO NOT Use the Steroid cream if you can help it! I use A&D ointment on my bottom after every bathroom visit. I also use an aloe/vitatmin E Infused toilet paper, cottonnelle with Aloe & E and Unscented Baby Wipes with Aloe and E after every BM.
The LS is very manageable, I'll even have sex again, my Hubby is so happy... My Gyno is amazed, he said my bottom looked normal! No Steroid cream for over 4 months... IF I have a flareup he suggested minute amounts of the steroid mixed with the A&D ointment... But so for ok, the ointment takes the "edge off" any itchy burny sensation. I know this doesn't cure the LS, but it greatly reduces the effects. Some holistic MD's say the issue is fungus so I'm on it about the probiotics.. I take a double dose once a day... Stay away from Dairy as well even yogurt w/ probiotics...
Vaginal Medication Link to Ls
An ok theory for some, but there are little kids who get LS and people who have never used vaginal meds... But true I think that stuff can precipitate LS in others. Look at all the variations of symptoms too.
Eliminating Dairy
★★★★★
I was diagnosed with Lichen Sclerosis 4 years ago in genital area and my eye lids. What I found that helps the most is to eliminate dairy from my diet. For a year or more, I had to eliminate all mammal products too. So no dairy, pig, cow, lamb, etc. So first, figure out if you have a food sensitivity. Second, DON'T eat foods that bother you. Gas, diarrhea, bloating, constipation. These are all signs that your body can't tolerate what ever you ate. Symptoms can be fairly immediate to 24 hours later.
Third, take a high quality fish oil. For me, 4,ooo mg seem to do the trick. I don't have any vaginal itching and my eyelids don't stick to my eyeballs at night as long as I unless I indulge in cheesecake on my birthday or forget to take the fish oil.
As a side note, as of two years ago, I have adrenal fatigue too. These measures help with that too.
Biopsy showed lichen sclerosis, sorry I always misspell this. Prescribed ointment thinned out skin so it would easily break, so I stopped. Also when preg wanted natural option. Best natural relief: Burt's bees chapstick, with peppermint is the best. Can be used several times a day without irritation. Shower daily a must. If leaking urine after baby, wipe with wipey as well for extra cleaning. Actually have always been very sexual, and luckily this hasn't affected my drive :)
Wheatgrass
Hi - People don't always have all the symptoms at once. What you are describing sure sounds like LS. You said you've seen doctors, have you brought up LS to them? Maybe ask your doctor to referrer you to an OBGYN or a Derm who specializes in LS. My biopsy came back positive, but they don't always, yet you still have it. I wish you luck.
Vitamin E
For Lichen Sclerosus, I have found that using a vitamin E capsule like a suppository overnight usually takes care of symptoms overnight. My MD prescribed steriod creams, which also work, but not as well. However, they are more convenient to use during the day. Although steriod creams are not natural, I believe a natural estrogen cream may work the same way. I have read lately that lichen schlerosis is often triggered by a decrease in estrogen in the body, so I'm experimenting with increasing intake of soy products, which contain natural estrogens. My MD also recommended probiotics and turmeric to control symptoms. Apparently, there is no cure available, just good symptom management.
★★★★☆
I have this condition and have had from some years now. I was prescribed Dermovite cream which is a steroid and although it works to reduce the inflammation I don't take kindly to anything prescribed by GP's, so rarely use it and found other ways to bring some comfort. I use Emuaid Cream, which has proved to be a great success. However, I think it may be certain fabrics that cause this problem because I always buy stretch fabric jeans and there is one particular pair that has more elastane in than others. I find that when I sit in them for a prolonged time, the itching begins. It could also be washing powders or softeners used in your machines. For now I'm going through the fabric experiment!
Castor Oil
★★★★★
About 1 month later - happy to report that I have been able to manage symptoms with castor oil etc. --other than a 2 day flare up where I did use Clobetasol, and have been mostly symptom-free.
Also invested in very expensive Dermasilk underwear, which seem helpful when having symptoms
Vitamin E and Quercetin Cream
Could you tell me the name of this cream and where you purchased it?
Serrapeptase
Sounds very interesting! What brand of SERRAPEPTASE did you use? How many SPU (serrapeptase units) per day?
Serrapeptase
What was the dosage? I have 80,000 SPU.
6 of these would be 480,000 SPU Might that be too high? Thank you!
Serrapeptase
Serrapeptase
Hello,
I also have LS and I'm hoping to reverse scar tissue with serrapeptase. Was it 40,000SPU that you used four to six times a day? or the stronger 120,000SPU?
Thanks,
Laura
Dietary Changes
Hi Karen,
The Carnivore Code written by Dr. Paul Saladino has all the science/know how you could ask for. He also has a website with loads of info. Watch some of Strong.sistas youtube videos. Here is a link to one that describes what they eat in a day on the carnivore diet, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9C2O7F1UA4 .
They are a lot of fun to watch. They have been eating this way lots longer than myself. I'm so new and feel uncomfortable as I am such a beginner. The important thing here is, my crotch is normal now except for the scarring. It feels normal and behaves normal in every way. There are also lots of facebook pages on the carnivore diet; Women Carnivore Tribe, Carnivore for Beginners. I just found Strong.sistas and have learned a lot from them but you can get direct answers to your questions on the facebook pages. Finding out about all the toxins in plants to protect themselves from being preyed upon was an eye opener.
I've been organic and very healthy eating for years, not vegan tho but mostly salads with chicken or some sort of protein and a carb like sweet potato. You'll read a lot of healing stores from people who quit plants and went carnivore. It may not be for everyone but my LS took a quick nose dive and has not returned. My eczema is nearly all gone, just discolered skin. Lots of other subtle healings going on and I intend to stick to this diet, at first, for 3 months to see but the improvements are just great so am sticking to this diet for at least a year.
Good Luck on your journey and if you have LS, I pray you manage to get rid of it!
Borax and Olive Oil
Is the borax gritty when you just apply it directly to the vulva over the oil? Does the borax powder dissolve between uses when directly applied? Thanks!
Homeopathy
★★★★☆
When I went to my GP with symptoms and white patches I was told I may have thrush .. a swab was taken and sent to the lab. In the meantime I was given a cream to relieve the itch ( Of course it didn't relieve the itch..). Later that week I met with my friend .. and it was my friend who told me I had LS... she had the exact same symptoms but hadn't been diagnosed quickly. I went back to my GP and she confirmed that I did indeed have LS. I was prescribed an emollient to use when showering/washing and a steroid cream.
I used both and the steroid cream did help but I didn't want to be using it on a daily basis. My GP referred me to a homeopathic doctor and I was prescribed a remedy called Acidicum Nitricum (nitric acid ).
I take this remedy daily and also use the emollient on a daily basis .. Since I started using the homeopathic remedy I have only had to use the steroid cream on a handful of occasions. I tend to use Organic Aloe Vera Gel in the first instance. I think the fact that I was diagnosed early ( albeit through my friend ) has helped keep symptoms to a minimum. I was not aware that LS was progressive and have gained knowledge from reading others posts. My friend was mis- diagnosed on several occasions and as a result has many problems associated with LS.
There are many things which can trigger LS flare ups the main factor being stress. Diet can play a big part in alleviating symptoms. Everyone is an individual and if you find something natural that helps you then go for it.
Carol, I agree with your statement.
I was diagnosed a little over a year ago, and like many women, I've tried a variety of steroids, creams, potions, lotions, and salves etc.. with little to no relief. After having a severe flare 3.5 weeks ago, I was desperate and refused to go back to my 3rd gyno, who was no help at all. I researched and googled in desperation, and found several forums and Pinterest articles, where patients have treated it as a leaky gut/ and fungal overgrowth.
The remedies were all similar so I tried them! • I started to drink 1-2 tablespoons of Organic apple Cider vinegar with the mother every morning with 12 oz of hot water on empty stomach. • Purchased raw organics vaginal probiotic taken by mouth. • cut out sugars, gluten & diary • increased my vitamin D3 to 4000 ius daily as I was low confirmed by my Gp . • took vitamin K2 with D3 as it helps absorb the D3. • bought Nordics omega 3 supplement • raw juiced mid morning • purchased black African body wash • increased my b12 • drank a non dairy probiotic drink everyday • took 1 500 mg dmannose with cranberry daily. Helps with die off effects of fungus/yeast • applied over the counter clortimazole nightly on the white patches and labia • only used a little Cándula salve on labias and clit for moisture. • started taking collegen powder. • started taking plant digestive enzymes • drank lots of clean purified water After 5 days I got the relief I desired. The white patches are all gone, and the atrophy is much better and my tissue all around looks healthy and pink! I had no idea in my case that yeast/fungus was a factor. Who knew? I was even tested for it in the beginning.
It came back negative! I don't trust doctors. I don't think they are knowledgeable at all about this. I'm so thankful for forums like this.
Urine Therapy
★★★★☆
A bit of your own urine stops the itching of LS almost immediately but only temporarily. I also agree with others who have reported that staying alkaline helps.
I just apply the urine topically when I pee and let it dry naturally if I have the time or pat excess off with toilet paper. A probiotic and/or anti-candida enzymes before bed also help w/ night-time itching. I learned about the urine tx from a traditional healer who did not charge me for the advice. Needless to say, this remedy is free and readily available. It's the most effective thing I've used in many years of dealing with LS.
Chlorine-Free Toilet Paper
★★★★★
Buy NON-CHLORINE TOILET PAPER. and LS will slowly disappear. Hurray! I buy mine at Whole Foods. W.F. makes their own but I buy Seventh Generation. The recycled chlorine free is pricey at a dollar a roll but worth it. Yes, recycled toilet paper sounds dreadful but apparently we can save forests of trees with it and THAT'S worth it. Your new year will truly be a happy one.
I am Lyme positive and have systemic Candida. I would think the Lichen Sclerosis if from Candida which most people with Lyme have. I have all three conditions. Yet my symptoms came on after antibiotics for ear infections. A nasal swab has proven they are fungal.
Aloe Vera
Hi! I know this is a super old thread but I'm wondering if you could tell me the name of the aloe Vera gel you use? It's so hard to find a good pure one! Thank you so much!!
Lily
Zinc Oxide
Dear Natalia, it sounds like you really know a lot about this disease! I have learned so much from reading on this site. It helps me a lot as I have just been diagnosed. Could you please give me the specific amounts of what you recommend? After urination, I would like to have something to "cool off" ..
I believe in essential oils and use them often so the one with frankincense and tea tree oil would be beneficial. Please let me know how much of each to use or some kind of recipe would be great!
Thanks so much!
MMS
I will be having biopsy tomorrow but Dr said all my symptoms point to Lichen sclerosus, I have taken MMS in the past, but this pain has caught me off guard, it's like my inmune system has gone haywire, so I will start doing dlsitz baths with MMS, the new version protocol is CDS or Chlorine Dioxide, protocol on how to make it is on YouTube, Dr Andreas kalcker shows step by step how to make it in its purest form. There's also a spray protocol to dilute and use on skin like bacterial vaginitis, so I did do a sitz bath to nite with baking soda, warm water, helped a lot, the creams I'm still researching which to use, organic coconut oil is my go to cream, but needed one like a barrier to help while sitting, I tried Vaseline with Shea butter and it works pretty good, the only thing is gotta reapply after each pee, washing thoroughly, but I'm hopeful that MMS will cure it completely, it got rid of my pollen allergies a while back and helped me with the covid virus back last March.
Vitamin D3
Castor Oil
You can improve a lot by avoiding foods with OXALATES. There a list online of foods high in Oxalates

I've been using ozonated hemp oil as it the highest frequency and hopeful it will continue to heal. The company I use is PureO3.

Lichen Sclerosus Triggers
Excellent contribution, I agree whole heartedly. Well said. Our internal world is going to manifest in all kinds of physical symptoms, our bodies work to get us to listen, we need to do that.
Lichen Sclerosus Triggers
My LS history is definitely related to psychological issues. I am an incest survivor. While I look to manage LS symptoms because they can be so disturbing, I am well aware that the root cause lies in my history. Medical people have not a clue about this. They just cut, burn and poison with chems.
Multiple Remedies
Hi, that you are in LA, have you heard of Stem Cell Lift by Dr Nathan. I have been googling this treatment and people with LS have had success.
Coconut Oil, Homeopathy
★★★★☆
I also have found coconut oil to be very helpful and it does not have the odor or expense associated with the creams for LS sold on Amazon. Also, I am afraid of using too much clobetasol proprionate and allowing it to thin the skin. Coconut oil lets me to spread the steroid on thinner and use it less frequently.
LS - Hyperthyroid Connection

Definitely. My sister read anything she could find on LS and our mother had thyroid problems, thyroid removal and in later life developed chronic crohns disease. Poor immune system.
Baking Soda
I don't have LS, but am wondering if anyone has used Colloidal Silver spray / Colloidal Silver Gel?
Castor Oil
Is the castor oil, lavender and lemongrass still working for you? I just got diagnosed and am frightened. Desperate you might say. Thank you
LS and Hypothyroidism Connection
Lynn,
I have had LS for about 15 years. Your post concerns me because you fail to consider that this is a progressive disease. You are in the early or mid stages, and I assure you there is no going backwards. I urge you to arrest the progression before you have irreparable damage. By the symptoms you are reporting, the disease is marching forward. This is not good..
There are stages to the disease that are much worse than you are experiencing now. I urge you to seriously educate yourself on this disease. I know a great resource!!
I belong to a wonderful LS support group, well over 10,000 women and men are members, discussing what is working.. Please get ahold of the LS before it progresses much further.
Here it is:

LS and Hypothyroidism Connection
I had hyperparathyroidism, had parathyroid removed, which fixed that, but have lichens acutely. Used clobatasol and premarin cream for years and cannot get rid of it. It even hurts to urinate.
Frankincense Oil
I had a question about the frankincense oil, did you use it straight or diluted?
Vitamin E, Lavender Oil
Can you be specific in amounts of lavender oil, frankincense, castor oil and whatever else?
Vitamin E, Lavender Oil
How much of each of these ingredients for Lichen Sclerosus?
Vitamin E, Lavender Oil
Vitamin E, Lavender Oil
Review post.... how did you use these oils? How much of each?
Multiple Remedies
Itched for months and finally was diagnosed with LS. I used steroid cream to get the itch, sores and bruising down. Now I'm just using zinc oxide diaper cream every few days and have not had to use the steroid cream again. I'm also squatting far forward to urinate straight down without it touching my genitals, as a precaution.
I am going to start using legal CBD oil as I read LS could be autoimmune and CBD is being used in autoimmune issues. Also, after reading here, I'm going to start gluten-free too.
I'm doing well with just the zinc oxide for now, but I really don't want this to get worse as I've already had some fusion and scarring and I'm pre-menaposal (45 years old). I'm with a wonderful supportive guy, so anything I can try, I'm going to give it a whirl! Will check in on CBD and gluten-free process as I experiment.
Anti-Candida Diet
★☆☆☆☆
This is in regard to Lichen Sclerosis:
I see where some say that a candida diet or taking Essia Tea will be of help, but I don't believe it for one minute. I have had no sugar for 6 months with very little bread and have been on a strict anti candida diet for 3 months (no nothing) along with drinking that tea and I just got LS.
I think l agree with you if it is indeed that then cellerly would be good too
Essiac Tea, Homeopathy
Hi Kate. You mentioned a number of homeopathic remedies you used. I am currently using urtica urens based on your advice. It is helping but not complete. How did you use so many remedies? In what order, when and how much? Thank you
Essiac Tea, Homeopathy
Can you please say which homeopathic remedy was helpful for the skin splitting?
thanks~
Essiac Tea
Hi Daisy, The only type of Essiac I've seen is in a powder form for making a tea. You said your product is in liquid form. Is this a tincture? How wonderful this has cured you!
Essiac Tea
To Daisy from Ewa Beach: Does the Essiac tonic still works for you? I was going to try it myself and was wondering if your LS ever came back?
Essential Oils
Be very carefull of using treatments for thrush when you have Lichen Sclerosus. Several Drs just gave it to me and then the specialist said that the antifungal treatments I was given were actualy feeding the LS and making it worse. I believed this because when I used these treatments it felt worse. It took me 2 years of going from dr to dr to be diagnosed properly.
Essential Oils
Words have meaning. Also see Leaky Gut - the true cause of all disease.
Low Oxalates Diet
Try 4 tablespoons castor oil....Organic 2 drops essential Lavender oil, 1 drop essential lemongrass oil......that's it. Bought mine from herbal store...supposed to work. anyway they say dont use more drops than what ingredients call for. Just diagnosed....comes and goes...flare ups are horrible...no soap, just rinse warm water....began wearing boxers or mens underwear soft cotton equipo boxers.
Emu Oil
Ostrich oil seems to work as well, it could be that the oil from other birds may work as well.
Vaginal Medication Link to Ls
My daughter has been suffering with LS she is 12 and has had it for some time. I didn't use the steroid creams but now I am as fear it has progressed. It is very itchy and lots of discomfort. We had tried holistic treatments and herbs and acupuncture as well. I am very interested in the light therapy where do you go to get that? Where do they use the light exactly? Please help. Thank you
Vaginal Medication Link to Ls
Carol... Not sure exactly what you have tried or if you read thru the other posts on the site. I can only suggest what I has worked for one of my clients who had it. I had her use infused oregano oil 3 to 4 drops under the tongue, twice daily. I also suggested making a vaginal douche consisting of 50% apple cider vinegar, 50% distilled water with a healthy tablespoon of plain yogurt mixed in. This will be very soothing as well as help the tissues to heal. Diet is also a concern as I'm sure you know and I'm sure you've talked with her about diet, but it is important - getting her to stay away from sugar may be a challenge, but it is necessary.
With her diet, if she can get a lot of probiotics into her from yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut (it's got to be fresh - not canned, bottled - pasturized), also kombucha is a good source. Hope she finds relief soon! Katy
Baking Soda
I use pawpaw ointment. It stops the itch immediately. It won't cure the LS but it makes the pain and itch go away immediately.
Baking Soda
Lichen planus or Lichen Sclerosus:
Aloe vera 99.9% plus coconut oil (not together) brings great relief
Stress makes me itch, otherwise there's only redness on: two white blister looking circles touching each other, taking vitamin B complex, turmeric, vitamin D, vitamin C and E
Gluten free pasta bread.
Multiple Remedies
I, too have heard of the coconut oil and already use it for my omelets and other cooking. I have had LS for 12 years (43 years old now). The labia is fused for the most part on both sides, with pale, thin tissue. The majora has shrunk a little, but is still somewhat pink. In the beginning, I was put on clobetasol, etc. This was not good. My symptoms really didn't get better, and it thinned the tissue more. I had a dermatologist who put me on Metformin crushed in Vaseline that seemed to help a little. She wanted me to take it orally, but my GI sx at the time prevented that. I have started taking Mercola's Krill oil which has all sorts of backing as an anti-flammatory. Hopefully, the combination of making my body not so inflamed inside, and the coconut oil outside will do the trick. I also have Raynaud's. I agree with eliminating nutra sweet, etc. I eat a low-carb diet. I think we now have more auto-immune than ever, and we need to look at the state our bodies are in. I wish everyone the best. Hopefully, there will be a cure someday! Thankfully, my husband is very understanding :)
Anti-Candida Diet
I had the same issue and think that frequent candida is the precursor to Lichen Sclerosus.
Anti-Candida Diet
I think chronic candida has something to do with this LS. I have read on another forum that the Albican cadida not well treated would be the cause.. I am trying at the moment a certain essential oil cure to see if I can cure my LS from the inside instead of just treating symptoms....Brigitte... stay strong ladies.
Eliminating Artificial Sweeteners

For Lichen Sclerosus, eliminate diet drinks, Soda and Crystal Light sweetened with aspartame from your diet. Aspartame is made out of wood alcohol, a toxin. When Aspartame 1st came out many years ago, I had the same symptoms, they now call Lichen Sclerosis. My doctor worked with me eliminating foods and drinks I was ingesting. We found my symptoms would elevate after aspartame drinks. After eliminating aspartame from my diet, I felt relief within a few weeks. Although it took a year to clear up all symptoms. I have been free of all symptoms for many years now. I read all labels, I do not eat or drink anything with aspartame.
I have noticed a lot of comments about artificial sweeteners being suspect. Not true in my case. I am 45 years old and have always avoided artificial sweeteners due to the controversies. I have found that less sugar, in general, has helped with mine. When I was first diagnosed, I was given Clobetasol. At the time, my vulva had scarring but nothing like it does now. I won't be graphic but I do believe the steroid cream/ointment is what has caused even more narrowing/scarring at my vaginal opening and various other important areas. I also, strongly believe, I have an undiagnosed thyroid issue.
Multiple Remedies
I was diagnosed with LS two years ago. Pure essential lavender oil in the bath has helped me, and also Perrin's cream. Attention to diet, and cutting right back on sugar and yeast products has also helped. I agree that this is a horrible disease, and sometimes I can't believe I have it, but does anyone know how much research is going on to find a cure? What have we all got in common that would trigger this in us?
Multiple Remedies
Coconut Oil
Soy and Canola oils both cause severe itching swelling and inflammation. Grains of any kind also cause reactions. Eliminate wheat, oats, corn, rice, mullet, quinoa, barley, and all oils made from them. I'm convinced it's an allergy for me.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Read all the remedies in this LS listing and make your own list of what to try from them. Everyone's body is different so there is not telling what will work for you.
There are a few Facebook pages regarding LS. A few are very traditional in their applications but they are good to read so you can see the issues people get from steroids etc.

I too had been treated several times for BV and later came down with LS.
Vaginal Medication Link to Ls
I was diagnosed with LS 10 years ago. It happened shortly after having oral sex. I have used a vaginal cream since then, but off and on. Not on a regular basis. About 2 years ago I had surgery in which I took antibiotics and pain meds. Within 2 months I started noticing some really weird things happening to me that never happened before. Since then I've been researching relentlessly on what could be wrong with me. My conclusion is the antibiotics, drugs, creams etc. . . are bad for us. I have candidiasis because antibiotics not only kill the bad bacteria, but the good. This in return let yeast grow out of control in my body causing skin issues, digestive issues, dizziness, drunkenness, etc. . . I believe the only way to get better is to change your life away from the SAD (Standard American Diet). Eat healthy, meaning fresh fruits (very little), meats and vegetables. Try to buy organic, if possible. The pesticides and hormones sprayed/injected into our foods ultimately get inside us and also affect us. No processed, canned, packaged foods. No lunchmeats, sweets, etc. Obviously it can be very difficult to completely stay away from these foods for the rest of your life. I love sweets so I know. I try to eat healthy 99% of the time though. Educate yourself. Research candidiasis, get on a good probiotic, see if you could benefit from digestive enzymes, fish oils, read the Metabolic Typing Diet, search for Yeast Infection No More online book, how dental work can have you suffering (mercury in your mouth), metal in your body. I recently had an eery feeling my LS was linked to my diet as well as all the other issues I've dealt with in the last year. I believe it is true because when I was following a super healthy diet for 5 months (no dairy, only brown rice pasta, brown rice cakes, brown rice, fresh veggies, little fruit (mainly berries) and protein) NO sugar whatsoever and only drank water or decaf herbal teas, continued to exercise, reduce my stress level and take some supplements I had no anal itching and very little if any vulva pain/discomfort.
I also recently decided to research the cream I've been using over the years for my LS and one of the things it says can occur is folliculitis. Last October I woke up one morning with tiny red bumps all over my legs. I have not confirmed by a doctor that it is folliculitis, because I refuse to have anyone try to make me take any medications/creams (drugs)or antibiotics. I am on a mission to change my life for the better and it involves natural/holistic treatments. Always question your doctor and if you don't believe what they are suggesting it is best for you get a second opinion. I recently had to have my wisdom teeth removed and the first oral surgeon I met with said I would have to go on antibiotics and pain killers. I refused because I knew what that mess of meds got me in a year and a half ago. I searched for a holistic dentist and found one who guided me in the right path so I was able to do stay away from the antibiotics and pain meds by using a great quality probiotic and digestive enzymes for inflammation/pain.
I hope some of this helps someone else!

MY DOCTOR AS ADVISED ME TO USE AN EMOLIENT CREAM FOR WASHING/CLEANING THE VAGINAL AREA. THIS HELPS TO STOP IT FROM DRYING OUT, WHICH IN TURN WILL GIVE THE AREA TIME TO HEAL.

I think that you will find that many people with LS were treated with creams before diagnosis because they or their doctors thought their symptoms were candida. So that would mean they already had LS, not that the creams caused it. That is what happened to me. I was diagnosed with LS after 10 years or more of symptoms that were missed by many doctors and midwives. One midwife saw that it wasn't candida, and saw the changes in the skin, but she apparently knew nothing of LS and called it non-specific bacterial infection, and had me take peridine baths. I've been using clobetasol sparingly for 19 years, and it has arrested the progress, but I don't want to use it anymore.

Mary, I'm having some of the same issues. What kind of doctor performed the UVB laser treatments for you? An OB/GYN or Dermatologist? Have the results lasted for you since your last post? Thank you for your help. The steroid cream is helping but not doing enough and some symptoms are progressing.

Wendy, your post is so interesting to me. I have had skin issues since I was a teenage (40 years). My skin would itch and burn and small sores would erupt that were like a burn and sometimes would grow to and inch big. I have scarring all over my upper arms, upper back and legs. As a teenager, I was diagnosed with psoriasis. After many years of dermatologists and naturopaths, everyone was perplexed because nothing helped.
I developed LS a year ago and through research was led to Trying Low Oxalates. I went on a low oxalate diet and this has helped tremendously! Many vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts, etc are not my friends.
Like you, the less food I eat, the better I feel! I only have LS breakouts, itchy, burning skin when I eat higher oxalate foods.
Thanks for sharing. I rarely run across anyone who has experienced the whole skin thing.

I have had the hood of my clitoris removed 3 times over the past years, it always grows back with LS. Like many people, I was diagnosed with candida years before LS was recognized. It certainly is not a pleasant condition. I plan on trying many of the treatments people have posted here. This is a wonderful site, I'm sure glad I came across it. I wish every one the best of luck. If I find something that works for me, I will be sure to post it.

Eliminating Dairy
Hi Kerry,
I noticed that you mentioned you had this Lichen Sclerosis on your eyelids. Can you describe what the symptoms are on the eye? I believe I have LS in the nether regions but noticed that my eyes have been very dry and itchy. I thought that maybe there is a connection.
Thank you,
Jackie : )
Eliminating Dairy
I have noticed the same thing, all meat, dairy and even sugar acts up my LS horribly. Ive basically went Vegan since the perscribed cream did nothing for me and my dr ran out of options and I was told to "learn to deal with it". I went on an all juice diet thinking it might be linked to my thyroid or something else so I juiced daily, then I noticed I felt great during the 7 days of all juice, when I added in food back in its when I noticed the symptoms back with in minutes of eating certain food. The only time my LS goes away is when Im sick then I have No LS at all until my cold/flu goes away then it comes back with a vengance!!!

Wheatgrass
Hi, I haven't ever used this form of communication before but I have a question. A friend suggested to me that I may have lichen sclerosis. I have tiny razor blade slits up the sides of my labia majora (both sides)- they bleed and sting and feel much like a razor blade cut. Sometimes it seems to go across my perineum and over my anus, causing that to also be painful. I used to only think that it was from sex and maybe I had an STD but have been checked many times and seem to baffle the practioners - they often start questioning me about abuse. Well, now, I haven't had sex in two months and I have it again - so I am trying to figure out what it may be - my symptoms do not seem to be the same as what you are describing but I'm trying whatever avenue I can because it is quite painful and debilitating and I recieve no valid answers from practioners.

Stacy from Durango - According to my good friend, a dermatologist, Lichen sclerosis can be diagnosed with a biopsy of the skin. According to her it is not that uncommon and you should be able to ask a derm or ob-gyn to biopsy the skin so you can get an answer and start treatment. I too have been diagnosed with it but I haven't had the biopsy yet. I will be doing that soon so I can get a definite answer. Steroid creams are used quite a bit to bring the skin back to normal. If you don't want to waste your time with an uninformed doctor, try calling ahead and find out if they're familiar with the condition. Good luck

I was desperate for relief and decided to try the Wheatgrass lotion. The delivery was great. However, when I put the lotion on the vaginal area it burned like crazy. Not just for a short time. I put some more on later thinking it just takes time. Again the burning. So, I went back to my salt water which seemed to relieve the burning for a while. There must be something else out there but I don't have a clue. I don't have the itching, I have the soreness (sitting and exercising are very uncomfortable), redness and inflammation.

I have had LS for 13 years and had no idea what it was until I saw this post.
I have gone to the doctor and each time I go, they diagnose me with Thrush. So I'm so grateful to find that there are other women out there.
I noticed this in my teens and found everytime I had candy, chocolate or anything high in sugar, the itching would get worse. Bread from the grocery store and carbs in particular would also make the itching worse. For this reason, I just limited my carb and sugar intake (I have the sweetest tooth ever! ) and found that it was fine. Exercise, like 30 minutes of intense cardio regularly really helps with the symptoms.
I have young children and my diet has gone out the window and I've noticed that my symptoms are getting worse and the burning is getting more intense. I think I will have to get back on the bandwagon and continue with a 'healthy lifestyle.'
I have found cocoa butter oil helps with the itching and it's funny as I bought neem oil a couple weeks ago for this reason and looks like other ladies on this site have found it helpful.

Vitamin E
Try adding Red Clover herbal pills... they supposedly increase estrogen. They have helped my LS symptoms a GREAT DEAL!!
Boron
Sounds great! How many tablets? How many times a day?
DMSO
Thank you for this update. It's helpful to know of the concentration you are using given there are so many concentrations of DMSO available. That there is a combination with comfrey and castor oil is interesting, too. I don't know about Tallow Balm so will look. I am about to use DMSO to work with herniated discs and adhesions in my neck and wonder if comfrey would be additionally helpful given its effects on bone, flesh and cartilage healing.

I have suffered from LS for many many years and like all of you tried so many different things somehow, some didn't but what I have found is a definitely boils down to diet when I went to my doctor she said my oxalates were high and she wondered why so she tested my candida it was high and high candida will make high oxalates so needless to say I do a low candida low oxalate diet and I do biocidin!
Within 4 weeks my LS had cleared up by 95%! I was ecstatic it definitely has to do with diet because I know as I fall off my diet and eat the wrong things again that are high and yeast and high in oxalates it comes right back my doctor said I should do it for about 6 months the protocol and I possibly could get rid of it completely for good. Hope this helps you.

Clobet whatever it's called is a horrible steroid medication it would have me burning 🔥 like crazy or itchy like I would scratch so hard it was crazy. But I was so dry and skin on vulva would Crack or I would get tears near the opening or around the clitoris. Every time I peed it was torture.
TRY THIS RECIPE:
Coconut oil (best one they sell in Walmart)
All Organic Essential Oils: Lavender, Frankensence, Rosemary, Tea Tree Oil.
1 TBL SPOON COCO OIL 3 DROPS ESSENTIAL OILS. SO YOU WILL NEED 4 TABLESPOONS SO YOU CAN PUT 3 DROPS OF EACH OIL.
If you have Vitamin E capsules pierce 2 and add that too. Store in Fridge.
Put it on before you go out but wear a pad cuz it's messy. After evening shower put it again. It feels so soothed immediately. You will feel the difference by the next day. So moisturized and wonderful. It's amazing. I promise you. My condition is so bad I no longer have Labia Minora. The skin stretched it away. My vaginal opening is so small and tight and too painful for sex. It's been about 4 years.
TRY IT PLEASE!!! You can also use those same 5 ingredients in your hair/scalp for hair thinning. But you should use MCT/Fractionated coconut oil in hair and Organic Sweet Almond Oil. Use on freshly washed DRY hair. Leave in for 2-3 hours with a plastic cap if you can leave in overnight and then wash gently and condition hair in cold water from middle to ends not scalp. Try to air Dry but if you must blow dry use cold setting.
PLEASE I BEG YOU TO TRY MY DIY REMEDIES. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.
Change Toilet Paper

I have been dealing with LS for 15 years. My dad was staying with me and he had went to the store and bought a different brand of toilet paper. I have used Charmin for as long as I can remember. By the following week, no more break outs. Anyone else Charmin only users?
I was recently diagnosed and wondered about how or if toilet paper affects LS. Thank you for your post.
Change Toilet Paper
Hi, so you switched from Charmin to something else? Mind sharing what you went to? This is interesting. I'm willing to try anything. Thanks
Clobetasol
Hi Melissa, has the hot baths and cream application still working for you? I am also finding it difficult to get the itching and soreness under control I was diagnosed in June after a punch biopsy and recently had really dry skin on either side of my clitoris that has shrunk back as of yet no white plaques on vulva. Thank you.

Dietary Changes
I did not see a Dr. before your name. I think people need to investigate the carnivore diet for themselves. It does not have to be a long term solution but has many benefits.

I suspect the reason that Dr Shaun Baker looks like he does is because he is a body builder. Take a look at Neurosurgeon Anthony Chaffee who has been on the carnivore diet for 20 years.
Borax and Olive Oil
Borax and Olive Oil
I don't really think about ratios. I keep a jar of each in my bathroom, apply some olive oil, and then apply a little of the Borax. Keep it simple. Find what works for you. Don't use so much olive oil you're dripping, or at least wear a pantie shield so you don't ruin your underwear.
Borax and Olive Oil
What does borax mean? and is it safe where can I buy this? How are you, are you still complaints free from LS?
EC: Borax = 20 Mule Team Borax, which is found in the laundry aisle of most US grocery stores or online at Amazon. Read more here: https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/borax.html
Borax and Olive Oil
What kind of Borax? The kind for laundry?
EC: Yes, 20 Mule Team Borax is what people typically buy.

Will the Borax and olive oil help genital Thrush as well I think I have both.
Borax and Olive Oil
What is the recipe for borax and olive oil, please? Thank you!

Instead of any toilet paper, use toilet seat bidet— Brondell Swash SE600 Bidet Toilet Seat is a good one. There are many types out there. Using a toilet seat bidet is the only Way to go. You will always be totally clean. Will pay for itself and save a lot of trees.
