I have used amlexanox paste for several years since my dentist prescribed it for me. It seems to soothe the sore immediately, and it also seems to cut the duration of the canker or prevent it from developing (hallelujah) if I catch it soon enough after I bite my tongue.

I read earlier today about the aspirin method of getting rid of the pain from canker sores, and seeing that I have had a very large canker on the side of my tongue for the past 3 days that has stopped me from eating, and made talking and drinking liquids only when necessary I decided to try it. Only problem is I am at work and no one had an aspirin. One of my co-workers when asked about an aspirin said, "I have a goody powder. " So I tried it... It worked GREAT!!! Stung really bad at first... Kinda like some one sticking a hot poker through my tongue but after about 30 seconds the pain seemed to vanish. I was able to eat my lunch without wincing everytime I chewed. I still had a small amount of sensitivity on that side but nowhere near the pain I have been experiencing the past few days. It has now been about 2 1/2 hours since and still hardly no pain... Just a slight amount of sensitivity. I would definitely reccommend this to anyone with canker sores!!!
