For gout, my son swears by Black Cherry juice. He buys the concentrate at the Health Food Store and mixes it in a Liter of water and drinks that down within a short amount of time. If it is really bad, he will do this 3 times a day. If he catches it at the onset...just one litre seems to do for him

I have had continues gout flair ups for over 15 years in my feet, knees, hands and wrists... I have taken all the medications available with no relief. I cut out all red meet, shell fish, wines and still had major flair ups. It was getting so frustrating. I come to find out my flair ups are from sugar I tracked what I ate for about a month and a half and my flair ups are from sugar I was consuming. I was taking cherry juice concentrate yet it had sugar so I did not see great results. I typed in gout in the search box in this online vitamin store I have been buying products from.. The results came up Tart Cherry Extract in a capsule form, WOW it worked. The bottle said to take 1 per day but I took 4 - 4 times per day (DO NOT do what I did unless you talk to your doctor) I have never felt better.

Tart Cherry Juice Helps prevent chronic attacks of gout caused by transplant drugs. The gout cannot be treated by conventional drugs as it would damage a transplanted organ, and the cherry juice concentrate helped prevent a very painful, vdangerous condition, and restored confidence in living

Re Cherry and Cherry powder: I am experiencing numerous episodes of gout; apparently due to a "Low Carb Diet". I have started taking 1/2 cup of cherries per day. I have now switched to a black cherry (with other additives) and have found it under control. I have prevously used prescription drugs prescribed by my doctor. However, who wants liver toxic drugs! Cherries and it's associated powders work great!

I got gout a few years ago. My mother told me to try black cherries or black cherry juice. The cherries were out of season so I went to the health food store and bought black cherry concentrate. I used it for a few days (I did not mix with water, just took a tblsp twice a day and drank water with it). My gout disappeared. My father-in-law tried this when he got gout and it also worked for him -- now he takes it a couple of times a week to keep gout free.

I've had problems with gout for the last 10 years. I gave up on medicine after the one the doctor prescribed gave me terrible acid reflux. A few years ago, in the book "Nutritional Healing", I read about dark cherries being helpful. I tried buying organic dark cherries and it quickly brought me relief. Recently, I had a problem again and I couldn't find any dark cherries in season, so I ate dried cherries and they also worked well.

I had been put on meds for flare ups as well as preventatives to use in between. It is so painful and it takes the meds a few days to calm it down. When I tried the black cherry juice, i could feel it work the same day. It is definitely a great find. Spread the word. The pain of gout is horrible. Thanks for your site, it is great. Thank-you maryanne

Whenever I get a twinge of gout, or even have a full blown gout attack, I eat a couple of pounds of fresh cherries during a 48 hour period and drink copious amounts of water. Works every time.

I've gotten gout three times and each time it was cherries that got rid of it. It took about two days to work. However, considering how painful it is, I think I'm going to try ACV next time, and see if I can cut that 2 days down.

I had gout for many years with attacks starting once per year and increase in about 10 years to 4-5 times per year. Dr. prescribed the std. Colchicine and Alpurinol but but the end this was no longer curing the pain or swelling but I did get the "fun" side effects of diarrhea from the cholchicine. I read some articles about Cherries and wanted to find a good source since they are not always in season and the extract is horrendous. In a vitamin store I have found Black Cherry Pills. I take 2 per day. If I start getting the early signs, I increase the does to 4-6 per day. This has made me gout free for about 3 years, Until this weekend when I had my first attack in a long time (week in Hilton head with alot of drinking and grilling out so it is my own fault). I actually found some 5 year old Cholchicine and took that (no help), started taking 10 per day of the Black Cherry pills per day and it is getting better but not out of the woods yet. The Black Cherry Pills definitely helped me.

I had read a lot the last year about cherries and gout. The articles all mentioned specifically tart cherries. I found tart cherries in a pill form from Fruit Advantage and took 2 a day. Within about 3 weeks all symptoms were gone and have stayed away since.
