A few weeks ago I experienced a sharp burning sensation in my stomach and thought it could be ulcers and took some natural remedies that remedied the situation in just a few days. However, a friend said that it could be problems with the gallbladder and liver. I looked up remedies here in Earth Clinic and found Turmeric was recommended and it happens to be an ingredient I had been thinking for a while of taking because of its many benefits for the health. I have been taking for the last ten days first thing in the morning:

1 teaspoon of ground organic turmeric, mixed with 1 tablespoon of Virgin Coconut Oil and a dash of grounded pepper (because it is reported that it enhances by 20% or more the properties of turmeric).

As far as feeling any relief of ulcers or gallbladder related, there were none (as I said, I had already taken other natural remedies for the ulcers and found relief but the symptoms for gallbladder did not match my ailment). But in just one week, my sinuses cleared completely (a problem I have had for over 10 years, sneezing, blowing my nose first thing in the morning and 3 or 4 times during the rest of the day). Then I noticed an improvement in my mood, feeling motivated, energized, a general feeling of wellbeing and feeling positive, no anxiety at all.

But here is the amazing thing that happened.

I am 66 years old and have been noticing for the last 6 or so years a problem with my memory. I cannot remember names, hard as I try to memorize them, to give a silly example; I see a movie, look up the name of the actors but 10 mins after I cannot remember the names. I enjoy reading, but it's hard for me to remember name of books and authors, etc. Well, a week (only! ) after taking turmeric (the mixture detailed above), I was watching a movie and looked up the names of some of the actors. Then I went back to the movie, and as I saw them I said to myself, this is so and so, and this other guy is so and so… and I was bewildered. I said to myself, this is not right, I don't remember names. But I did! So I tried a little exercise I have been struggling with these past 6 years (to test and improve my memory): the phonetic alphabet: A is for Alfa, B is for Bravo, C is for Charile, D is for Delta, etc. I have never managed these last years to memorize it, best I've done is 15 out of 28, after a day spent trying. So I looked it up, read diligently (memorized) for a minute, then went back to my movie. Then, an hour later, took a pencil and paper and wrote the phonetic alphabet. Results? 28 out of 28! And 10 days later I can remember it as well as the name of the actors and other stuff I've been learning since then.

This was a week ago. Naturally I am still taking the turmeric mixture (I will do so for the rest of my life! ). I can now memorize names, news, events, etc. etc. Lost memories have come back, my vocabulary is enriched (the words were there, stored in my brain, but I could not find them…)

Do a search on the Internet on the benefits of turmeric, it's a long list, but most importantly, it's good for memory loss and Alzheimer's. Studies have shown that the incidence of Alzheimer's is very low in India because the eat curry all the time, a main ingredient is turmeric. Read about the brain-blood barrier; turmeric is one of the few substances that penetrate the brain.

I am telling this story in the hopes of helping people with memory problems but mostly to give back to Earth Clinic that has been a life-saver to me for many years now.

Feel free to ask questions, I will be following my posting for a month or two every few days to answer questions.

Cheers, Connie

Aafelo: thank alot for this precious information and well done. Yes turmeric has unlimited, benefits, remedies, and cures. Just as Mr. ORH always says; read about a subject, when you feel satisfied, then read more.

There is a similer protocol: turmeric, sesame oil, and yoghurt for cancer cure here on EC in the.cancer section. People can read about....

Best regards,

For all of you, good people.

Dear Connie,

Thanks so much for sharing this information! I am sure it will be helpful to many people!

I wonder if the coconut oil is also contributing to the improvement in your memory? It is reported to be helpful to the brain and helpful to for memory issues.

Thanks again!

Thank you for your wonderful report. I will try this concoction because I have noticed a sharp drop on my memory lately. I think realizing that and being around my kids (older) who remind me that I shouldn't have forgotten this or that, it has made the whole thing worse since I am only in my 50's. I am feeling rather frazzled about it now.

My question: How are you taking this? In one big dose or mixed with something?

Thank you again for sharing your success story.

If you have inflamed tissue in your gastrointestinal tract, then you should avoid pepper and citric acid, as these will cause buring sensations.

Hi Josephine, I take the dose I posted, once a day only, first thing in the morning.

Hi Mama To Many, I definitely think that the Virgin Coconut Oil is part of the reason why this has worked for me, since VCO is also excellent for the brain.

Hi Ski, I had gastrointestinal problems, inflammation and burning sensation (ulcers?). I started taking 1 tsp of Cayenne three times a day. I experienced relief the very first day and three days after I had no pain at all. I will be taking cayenne for at least a month.

Hi Ski, I forgot to mention that to cure my ulcers I am also taking Apple Cider Vinegar, 2 tablespoons a day. So neither pepper (cayenne) nor citric acid (ACV) is harmful for gastrointestinal problems, quite the contrary.

Cheers!

I think it depends on the person or condition. I have diverticulosis which can flare up into diverticulitis. ACV, which I would love to be taking for all kinds of benefits, exacerbates my DV. ACV is a strong acid, much stronger than citric acid from fruit for instance, and for some of us, it can be an irritant.

Cafelo, ACV has citric acid??

Sorry, I was wrong. So many people argue with me regarding ACV being acidic, that for some reason I got confused. On the contrary, Raw ACV is the only vinegar that is alkaline-forming to the body. All other vinegars (white, balsamic, red wine, etc) are acid-forming. For a health balanced pH, raw apple cider vinegar is one of the best things to add to your diet.

Fascinating! I'd love to try it. I'm only 31, but I've long been dismayed about my memory. Friends will tell me stories of things we did five years ago that I have no recollection of at all. I'll watch a movie and, a year later, not be able to remember the plot. What brands of turmeric and coconut oil are you using, and where do you get them?

Funny, you sound like me when I was your age, bad memory... but it isn't really, I think. AT that age it has to do with your interests, what really impresses you. Like you, I'd forget movies... but I didn't forget books or plays or events that really meant something to me. So I would not worry about that, seriously.

The ACV is Omega Nutrition. The VCO, I've tried different brands, the one I am buying now is only available here in Canada (brand by a popular grocery store). My recommendation is to make sure that you are buying VirginCoconut Oil, and ACV that is virgin and has the mother in it.

I appreciate the reassurance, but I do think it's more than that... I could list examples, but part of me doesn't want to see them in print. Anyway, I'd like to see if your suggestion helps.

What about turmeric? What brand are you using, and where do you get it?

Thanks so much!

Frankly, I can't tell you a specific brand of turmeric that I buy. Well I can, it is Organic Turmeric byXl distributors, but that doesn't help you, you live somewhere else. Just make sure it's organic (non-radiated), that's all.

I'd like to see your list of specific situations, if you don't mind... I was pretty wild when I was 30, partied and drank too much... that doesn't help with memory recollection? But I wouldn't worry, 30 years later I am doing pretty well, but I did begin to take more care of my health the last ten years, looking for natural remedies, taking vitamins supplements, eating healthier and stuff. Take care, Connie

Ha! Well, I'm sure my partying and drinking hasn't helped matters, and there's been plenty of that. Your story does reassure me, so thank you. I have the turmeric supplements (cucurmin) and coconut oil in transit, so I'll share a few examples:

Last month, I talked to a pregnant friend that I hadn't talked to in about a month. She asked me if she'd told me that she's having a boy. I said yes, but the truth is, I -couldn't- remember if she'd told me. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't. I don't know. I'll have to go back through texts to see if we ever discussed it. But it seems like the sort of thing I should recognize as new information or not.

I had a friend over the other night and she launched into a story that was new to me. Rang no bells at all. The friend informed me that she'd told me this story no less than four times before. That one was scary. And you know what's funny? Right now, I couldn't even tell you what that story was that I've now heard four times.

I used to forget to call people back when I missed their phone calls... All... The time. If I wasn't in a position to call them back immediately, I'd get distracted and then totally forget they'd called at all. It actually made a few friends angry with me.

In general, I feel like my memory is getting better, perhaps because I've stopped drinking and partying so much, and because I'm aware of it and am actively practicing trying to remember things. But I still find myself disappointed every time I just can't do it and would love to give it a boost.

Thanks so much for the suggestion!

Sometime it can also be lacking in vitamin b12 that makes you lose memory, but if you take it, take all the b vitamins as one could deplete the system of the rest of b.

You might want to see if there is a Penzeys Spices near you. I get all our spices there and I think they are reasonably priced. 1-800-741-7767.

Can you explain 'how' you took this mixture? Did you put it in your food or did you just swallow it? I can't imagine this would be easy to take by itself.

You can also put it in hot water with some organic or wild honey (and even coconut or almond milk) and drink it as a tea. It's not bad at all like this. I use manuka honey. I saw this mentioned in the magazine "What Doctors Won't Tell You, " so this formula seems to have worked wonders for a number of folks.

If you are asking me about how I took the teaspoon of turmeric in a tablespoon of virgin oil and a dash of black pepper (I get lost in threaded messages), I take it just like that, not mixed with anything, I like the taste. If you don't, just drink some juice or milk after (or mix it in).

Hi I just found your article. How do you take the turmeric and coconut oil and pepper? Do you mix it with fluid or take it straight?

Thank you...I hear turmeric is so good for so many issues. So great it helps with memory as well! I look forward to your reply.

Hello,

I use a tablespoon of Virgin Coconut Oil, 1 teaspoon of turmeric, and a dash of pepper. I let it rest for 10 mins so the pepper interacts with the turmeric (pepper increases the benefits of the turmeric). Personally, I find it very delicious. I take it twice a day.

I buy organic turmeric (it is not expensive). The reason is that ordinary spices in many countries are "radiated" and this renders their healing or nutritious value by as much as 90%. I buy mostly organic spices and if you can, buy the seeds and ground what you are using for the next few days. Grounded seeds deteriorate, so it is best to grind seeds for use as opposed to buying powdered. You can use your coffee grinder to grind them.

Connie, could you tell me what is the daily dose of turmeric that you take? Do you still have good results? Oh yes are you taking it in the a.m. or p.m. or with food? Any other nutrients with memory? Thank you much appreciated.

Turmeric is anti-inflammatory and systemic but the other thing that will have helped is the Coconut Oil which appears to help heal and restore the neural pathways.

Google "coconut oil" and Alzheimer's for at least one inspiring story...

Hi Connie,

Are you still taking the turmeric and coconut oil? How did you take it? On its own or mixed with some other drink .. Hope all is going well with your memory. I'm going to try this but not sure about getting it down without gagging. Thanks for your help, Gail

Hash browns fried in coconut oil with eggs with turmeric on them. You can also take coconut oil in through the skin. Soy Lecithin granules detox the body of bad fats and produce choline and inositol for memory in the brain. Magtein is in many magnesium supplements and has 27 patents on it for the only mag that crosses the blood brain barrier. I use them all and they all do help a lot . Many of my memory issues were from having a split off personality and I don't have that anymore so I have had much improvement from that healing, and no more migraine headaches. Hydration and mineral balance also affect memory. Older people have had more time to get out of balance from life going on. Blessings, Charity

I read a study where the subject was displaying early signs of Alzheimers, which were completely negated by 1Tbsp 2x/day of Coconut Oil all on its own. Also, Turmeric is amazing all on its own! Please look into this. I have not heard enough this on here and it is more than worth the research! God bless!

I hate to be a killjoy, but we do have to be concerned about the possibility of lead in turmeric, especially if it comes from India, Bangladesh and a couple of other countries in Asia. Google "lead in turmeric" or something similar, and you will get plenty of information on the subject. Apparently, a certain type of lead is bright yellow so it's added for the color!

Even the NIH, National Institute of Health, has a warning: "Today, adulteration of turmeric with lead chromate, which is vibrant yellow, is a concern in India and Bangladesh. In this commentary, we summarize a growing body of evidence indicating that turmeric containing excessive concentrations of lead is available for purchase in US grocery stores and that childhood lead-poisoning cases attributable to consumption of contaminated turmeric have occurred in the United States. We hypothesize that turmeric is being intentionally adulterated with lead to enhance its weight, color, or both."

So, look for turmeric that has the organic seal on the label.
