I, too, have recently used Grapefruit Seed Extract (one drop per ounce of water), applying it several times a day for a couple of days, and it immediately dried up and mostly disappeared. I'm in the process now of applying once a day for a more extended period of time.

Grapefruit seed extract "citricidal" cures ringworm. I used about 4 drops in 3 tablespoons luke warm water, twice daily, applied with cotton-wool pad. It got rid of my cat's ringworm in about 7 days.

The Grapefruit seed extract is not the same as Grapefruit Juice so you don't have to worry about interactions with drugs. It is taken from the seed of the Grapefruit.

04/14/2009: Regarding the non-substantiated statement made by Teresa from Bay City, MI on 04/14/09 assuring us that "The Grapefruit seed extract is not the same as Grapefruit Juice so you don't have to worry about interactions with drugs. It is taken from the seed of the Grapefruit."... I would think that this issue is much too serious an issue to leave to comments that are not backed by science here. Please show more documented evidence that there is no negative interactions with drugs before making statements regarding safety. Thank you sincerely.

To Menderfire9 from Tacoma, Wa: Go the website for Grapefruit seed extract for your science. They have done many studies and also tell you that you can take this product with medication such as bp meds. They would not be able to make this claim if it were not true.

Scalp Fungus

I had recurring problems with scalp fungus. It wasn't too bad in summer, when I was out in the sun and swimming in salt water, but come late fall and winter I would get large pieces of scalp flaking off and my hair would be greasy. My hair was thinning out and my scalp was itchy.

I tried GSE (grapefruit seed extract) by putting a few drops in my shampoo. I mixed them together in the palm of my hand each time I shampooed, which was every other day.I left the lather in for two minutes or so. The results were immediate, now I just have a slight touch of dandruff, no itch and my hair seems to be getting a little thicker. My hair and scalp definitely look better as well.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Ive had sinus problems for years but mainly on the right side. Ive been trying a lot of different combos to find anything that may help with this problem from ACV to Coconut oil to Grapefruit Seed Extract. I was doing nasal rinses with Sea salt and a pinch of Baking Soda and I tried putting 5 to 7 drops of Grapefruit Seed extract in the bottle. I found this to drain my sinuses a lot but after the drainage stopped my sinuses became very clogged or inflamed. Would this be from the Grapefruit Seed Extract being too harsh or the amount too much.. Thanks for any suggestions...

Try only 3-4 drops of GSE but add 3% peroxide lets say about 10 drops.

Grapefruit seed extract nasal wash cured sinus infection

On sign of a sinus infection, I did a 2 cup nasal cleanse (with the nasal syringe) using 2 cups of water, 1/2 tsp salt and 8 drops grapefruit seed extract. I experienced an immediate 'stuffing up' but by morning was symptom free. I repeated cleanse before I went to work and have had no problems since! Worked great!

Yea for the grapefruit seed extract. I've been having a disgusting nasal odor, almost like poop or rubbish, that was so bad that I dreaded going out in public because people could smell it even if they weren't right next to me. Riding in cars was torture for me and others because the smell would fill up the car within 1 minute. Anyway I tried alot of things- antibiotics, nose creams, irrigating my nasal passages with water and combining some things: tea tree oil/acv/salt/baking soda/iodine. Nothing worked. I assume I had an infection up there even though I had no real pain or discomfort, just post nasal drip and that odor that even I couldnt stand. Anyway as a last resort I ordered GSE, it arrived at work this morning and I went to the bathroom immediately to irrigate my sinuses with it (a few drops in a cup of water) and the relief seemed almost immediate- the people in my office stopped coughing and sniffing (the odor was that bad! ) and I can't smell it anymore. My nose has been running the whole day which is a good thing because all that yuck is coming out. I'm blowing my nose every 30 seconds. I plan to do this irrigation for a full week to make sure no bacteria/fungi survive then maybe I'll irrigate with probiotic powder for another week to replace the good bacteria. As a side note, I'm also on an anti-candida diet, and on the following supplements: quercitin, vitamin C, fish oil, fulvic acid and s salivarius probiotics. So hopefully the fungus/bad bacteria won't ever have a change to grow back. But I never got relief from the nose odor until GSE. (If the nose odor comes back I will come back to report, otherwise assume that the GSE nailed it. )Now if someone could tell me a cure that works for bad breath from the MOUTH, I'd be the happiest person alive!

Please try taking liquid chlorophyll for the bad odor in your mouth. It will be good for your overall health as well. 1 Tablespoon in water 1-2 times/day. If upset stomach occurs, use a little less. Mine says to take first thing in the morning and before bed, but I take it with food because I have a sensitive stomach. Great for post-nasal drip, by the way.

I bought a water pik and use a couple drops of GSE in it every day for gums, and over all mouth health. Has pretty much cured my peridontal issues. Also use with saline rinse, (add couple drops of GSE) for sinus.

I am now trying GSE on my cat- that seems to have ringworm fungus on his ears. It is non poisonous to cats- where the feline has no enzyme to process the chemicals in essential oil- as in phenols& terpenes or limolene which is orange oil. I just read that oil of oregano is good for people and sheep with ringworm fungus- but a cat can't have the terpenes in oregano oil- the specific terpene is (? spelling? -thymisol) but that being in oregano, & thyme was good as an oil extract for people with ringworm or other fungus on the skin.

I suggest organic coconut oil swished in mouth and spit out after 10 minutes, after brushing teeth at night. Works to stop mouth and tooth smell and decay. It is lauric acid- so it is a bit drying to skin and hair. Sinus infections advice is why I found this thread- I liked the hydrogen peroxide and 3 drops GSE-grapefruit seed extract.

To rid your mouth of bad odors, floss your teeth, brush your teeth, and scrape your tongue. Do these twice a day and your health will improve. The odors are caused by bacteria. These methods will reduce the amount of bacteria.

Staph

I had been struggling with a staph infection near my right eye since November 2009. I tried cremes and a variety of natural remedies, however the most effective was grapefruit seed extract. It pulled the infection up to the surface where my body and oxygen was able to kill it. I am terribly allergic to citrus and so it gave me quite a nasty rash, but I just fixed that with vitamin E. Definately go with GSE, it is messy when the infection surfaces, and you must be careful not to spread it more, but now there is nothing near my eye and my face is whole again. I thought I would never be well and lo and behold I am.

Grapefruit seed extract.
The wikipedia article cited states that no studies have proven its ability to kill pathogens.

Simply google: Grapefruit seed extract tea tree staph.

There are several science articles stating the same thing.

G.S.E. combined with tea tree kills one strain of MRSA.
G.S.E. combined with Geranium oil kills the other strain of MRSA.

So dont listen to the wiki article author tell you that there is "no scientific evidence".

You are definitely right about the grapefruit seed extract. I have finally gotten control of a nasty staph infection near my right eye using it. After 7 months of trying everything in the book, this is the only stuff I have found that is reducing the infection and making me feel as if I can finally kill this thing.

My mom has either staph or strep on her knee, doc does not know. She is 80 and she is on 2 antibiotics. I have the NutriBiotic Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE), 10 drops is 100 mg. How do I use it to help her and to kill it in my house? I am using 40 drops in one load of laundry.

I recommend putting like 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract in a spray bottle of very warm water, shake it up and spray any hard surfaces. It is great for sterilizing make up brushes and utensils, etc. you can put it in your laundry too.

I put grapefruit seed extract dilluted with warm damp cotton pad.

Today I used 6 drops GSE with spoonful coconut oil and a capsule of activated charcoal on a flat cotton pad and taped it to my neck on what I thought was a spider bite, but the level of itchiness has me mega concerned and additional bumps around it. I'm catching it VERY early, so I will continue this until its gone. I recommend this combo for your grandma's knee. Do it everyday until its gone. Change it often

GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) for Strep Throat:

I absolutely love this site! One thing I haven't seen is the amazing and simple treatment for Strep Throat and several other issues. GSE (grapefruit seed extract) has kept me out of the doctors office for 13 years now. One bottle can last me at least a year or two and it only cost me $12.00. I work around germs and virus' every day (poker dealer)and use it as a preventative measure as well. Just 3-8 drops in water or juice once a day when others are getting sick, keeps everything I'm exposed to from rooting itself into my system. When I have had Strep Throat catch me off guard, I simply mega-dose by taking 13 drops in a small glass of water. Gargle and swallow. Yes, swallow. I do this 3 times a day and keep doing it even though the sore throat is gone within 12-24 hours and The white bumps within 24 -36 hours, for at least 7 days. Just like a script for antibiotics, keep going past the symptoms stage. GSE attacks germs and is even used as a dissinfectant for tooth brushes, countertops etc... It is said it is 50 times more potent than bleach against germs yet the whole bottle (hundreds of doses worth) is less toxic to the body than one baby Bayer aspirin. Google it yourself and see it does natures work like the hand of God. I read it is even effective against Anthrax?

WARNING!

I just wanted to remind people to follow the directions and make sure to dilute this product so that you do not make the mistake that I made.

I had a slight pain in my tooth and thought that gargling with some GFSE would make me feel better. I placed about 15 drops into some water and gargled without incident.

Then I got the bright idea to place a few drops directly onto the tooth. What a mistake!! The undiluted drops quickly made my mouth water, and then the mixture of drops and saliva kind of made its way under my tongue. I spit it out, but the damage was already done. Within that few minutes I had managed to bascially give myself a chemical burn to the soft fleshy area under my tongue.

The pain was so bad that I cannot even describe it. It kind of felt as though I had chards of broken glass under my tongue. I felt miserable. Then the next day the area under my tongue was kind of swollen, and it felt like I had something stuck in my throat.

Needless to say, eating has been difficult. I'm sure that within a week or so I will feel better. The body has the amazing capacity to heal itself even after we do unwise things to it.

GFSE is great, but make sure that you always dilute it. I don't want anyone else messing up their mouth the way that I did.

I myself have applied GSE directly to my mouth without incident. In fact, a coworker had a mouth sore that had gotten so bad that she planned to make an ER visit the next day. I had her apply GSE directly to the sore and by the end of our 8 hour shift it was gone.

My son had a wart and I put Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) on it and bandaged it and changed the bandage and sprayed it with Colloidal Silver every other day. 1 week later wart dried up and fell off in the shower. After reading some posts about face washing I am going to try washing my face with it and am anticipating great results.

For yeast infections, try grapefruit seed extract (4-8 drops directly in juice or water) On a daily basis as a supplement, and stay away from refined sugar, which feeds the yeast. Also- liquid stevia, a natural sweetener contains grapefruit seed extract and is a tasty addition to anything you drink!

Grapefruit Seed Extract is an awesome product that I came to discover when I developed a terrible yeast infection from taking 2 rounds of antibiotics in one year, about 5 years ago. My docs could not even diagnose it, because it was what I would call "atypical yeast" -- not the typical symptoms, but rather an intense irritation and burning on the outside skin of my genitals. Anyway, I finally figured out that's what it was and went looking for natural treatments. BTW: you can do a search on GSE on the web and there are several websites that sell it, AND give VERY specific instructions on how to take it. But this is what I did: 10 drops GSE (in a empty capsule) 3 times/daily. (Be prepared to experience "detox" symptoms -- but mine were just a runny nose and a little headache). You could also douche with 5 drops/quart water. That is also recommended -- I did not, because my problem wasn't in my vagina, but on the outside. Since then, though, I have had "flare ups" with it again (got reinfected from my husband, actually, I think), and have used the douche - it gives almost instant relief -- a few times will almost cure it. But continue to use it -- I used it (decreased to 2x daily and then 1x daily) for months, for fear it it coming back. You can use it long-term without worring about it killing the good bacteria (or so they say), but I used a pro-biotic along with it (once/daily - spaced out 2 hrs between - very important!) You do not want to kill the good bacteria with the GSE... too expensive to do that! :o) Hope this helps! Oh! and the pet thing -- you can put it in their drinking water -- it is bitter so it may be difficult. But just give it maybe 2-3 drops and do it long-term... hopefully that will work. GSE has powerful anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. I have used it for many applications, after reading all that you could use it for on a website. It really is amazing. Hope this helps you guys!

I have been using GSE in capsules for 2 weeks. I was putting 10 drops/capsule 2-3 times daily. Today I upped the drops to 20/capsule before lunch and felt even better than with the 10 drops. I always take with 8 to 16 oz of water that I also use to swallow the capsule with. I only use Nutribiotic(tm) GSE it only has glycerine(67%) and GSE (33%). I am using it for Fungus overgrowth. I had severe heartburn before beginning to use the GSE; now, not at all. I also put it full strength on toenail fungus and just started today to put it full strength on a wart I got a few months ago.
