I've never had a yeast infection before, however this month at the end of my period, I started feeling 'off' down there. First I thought it might be a UTI, because I constantly felt like I had to pee! But after a day or so I realized it just felt irritated/burned. It was slightly itchy, but mostly it was just a constant burn and uncomfortable feeling. I decided to try some natural remedies before making a trip to the drug store for a yeast treatment kit, and low and behold, it worked!

Here is what I did: DAY 1- mixed 1/2 cup boiled water with 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar. Using a cloth or cotton ball soak with solution and apply all over area. I also took a couple q tips and soaked them in and stuck them inside of my for 5 minutes. This burned a bit, but nothing horrible. I did this 3x daily.

DAY 2- Same as day 1, but after each ACV treatment take organic coconut oil and slather all over affected area. Then take a q tip and cover in coconut oil and insert into vagina. Basically you want to actually place a decent amount of coconut oil in there, probably close to 1/2 a tsp. wear a panty liner/pad as some does end up dripping.

DAY 3- By now I was actually feeling about 90% back to normal, but repeated day 2 anyway.

It is now the end of day 3 and I feel about 95% better and am hoping after one more day ill be at 100%! Definitely give these natural remedies a try, very worth saving the $20 for a kit! This whole process probably only cost me a couple dollars! (Had ingredients on hand).

Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil

Coconut oil softgels and acv tablets cured my yeast infection. Take a 200mg acv tablet at the beginning of each meal and again at bedtime. Insert a coconut oil softgel in the vagina at bedtime or when you can be comfortably laying down (lounging) and 1 tbsp VIRGIN coconut oil 3x daily. The coconut oil is an antifungal and eliminates dryness, and the acv creates a hostile environment for the yeast. Get the softgel and acv tablet @ swansonvitamins.com. Bathing in and douching with acv in addition to above treatment is great while symptoms are accute, as is consuming yogurt and/or probiotics 2x daily while doing the acv/coconut oil treatment.

My son recently had a horrible yeast infection on his bottom. I did not notice it right away because it was right on the outside of his anus. The reason I did not notice it right away is because he had not been passing regular bowel movements and I had no need to wipe him there. I was giving him his bath and wiping him when I first noticed it. At first I thought it was feces but it would not come off and when I looked he had what looked like a horrible case of acne that was about to pop. Initially I thought it was a diaper rash but soon realized it was not. I took him to the doctors office the following morning and the doctor said that he had a yeast infection and prescribed some ointment. I was honest and told the doctor that I would not try the ointment until I tried a natural alternative first. I then went home and applied diluted _____'s Organic ACV on a cotton square and wiped him and also put some H202 on another cotton square and applied that to the infected area. I then decided to use Castor oil because of the many health benefits it has when applied to the skin onto the yeast and I kid you not within a 24 hour period the infection was COMPLETELY gone! And believe it or not since I have used the Castor Oil on his bottom he has been passing bowel movements regularly. Check out this great article on the wonderful benefits of Castor Oil when applied to the skin

I was able to get rid of my yeast infection douching with apple cider vinegar, and taking probiotics and some vitamins. My diet does not include much sugar, only from a small amount of fruit. I douched with apple cider vinegar using the organic, raw, apple cider vinegar with the mother. I douched with 1/2 cup in a quart of filtered water. I started douching twice a day, but mid day I would feel the itching come back. So after 2 days I was douching 3 times a day. I also took two quality probiotic supplements in the AM, and again in the PM. After a week, I added to my diet 75mg of a high quality vitamin A (I normally take 4000-6000mg of vitamin C as well). After 14 days from starting the douching, all itching is gone. It's been a few days and I can feel the difference!

Update: My yeast infection came back. This time, my research showed that taking Saccharomyces Boulardii (S-Boulardii), which is a yeast used as a probiotic, can help. I tried taking 3 billion CFUs a day and felt a difference in 2 days. The itching is gone, and I plan to stay on S-Boulardii until I finish the bottle.

So after extensive research and a come and go yeast infection everytime I have sex, I decided to try te ACV. I had bought Mon 7 but I am going on a trip with my boyfriend in a few days and "ain't nobody got time for dat"! So, I used the Mon 7 for 2 days. But on the third day I wasnt seeing any progresss so I put 2 cups Organic ACV and 1 cup of Iodized Salt in a bathub with just enough water to cover my legs. I soaked in this for about 20 mins, and douched with the water while I sat there. I then applied ACV and Jamaican Castor Oil directly onto my vagina as I still had some itching/irritation. Then I drank a glass of water and 3TBL of ACV. I was still feeling irritation after hours so I decided to soak a tampon in AVC and SALT. I inserted the tampon (which was very hard and painful to do) then left it in for about 10-15 min. I felt instant relief when I removed it. I feel like the infection is gone now, but I'm going to continue drinking lots of water to be sure. It looks very pink and shiny and pretty and it looks like the YEAST BEAST is gone. I know this sounds like alot but I was desperate! Thank u for all of these helpful tips!

I woke up in so much pain Sunday morning, i knew i had a full blown yeast infection. i got on your web site and found out about the apple cider vinager and salt and quickly did as several had stated how to use the viniger. it was wonderful!! i did the douch twice a day and the bath twice a day, i also took 2000 mg of Garlic softgel three times a day, i got better but it didnt go away, this morning, of Tuesday i got up with the itching and burning in three spots that have really been hard to heal, this time i put three or four tea spoons of the acv in the douch bottle and i poked a hole in two of the garlic softgels and put that in the bottle w/ the acv, added warm water and shook it well, the acv dries up the skin so much "down there' but the softgels have soybean oil in them, so that helps that problem. i soaked about 10 min. longer and dried off and poked a hole in two more garlic softgels, i use spring valley from wal mart, i rubbed this stuff into the area and there was instant relief. this is the first time in days i had no meds on my "area" and i have no pain! Thank You!! i will do this until this is gone!!

After years of crying in the doctor's office trying to figure out why I was getting recurring yeast infections, I read a small study done about the added spermicide in condoms. As soon as my boyfriend and I stopped using the condoms with spermicide I never had another yeast infection. It's been 4 years. When I asked my doctor about this, he made me think it was a crazy idea. I was tired of paying so much money on doctor visits and so much money on otc yeast infection remedies. A simple change solved everything.

Spermicidal film gave me a horrible yeast infection as well. I'm assuming the spermicidal foam would do the same.

Me too. Worst experience I ever had. Pain was immediate on contact, very terrible burning sensation, redness and itching as tho when I was a kid and got skinned knees. Used mineral oil to soothe and in a day or so, redness and swelling ended. But the smell lingered, tho a brand new box within expy date. For the odor, aloe vera gel cooled, soothed, and best of all ended the odor first application to irritated area.

I had 2 bouts of vaginal yeast over 35 years ago. At that time there was no such thing as vaginal creams, etc. My doctor recommended a baking soda douche in the morning and at night (1 T per douche). That was the only thing that relieved the itching. I didn't continue long enough to cure the infection so it came back. This time I used it longer and it has never returned. I used the white vinegar douche years ago too just to stay clean. Never ACV. Hope this helps.

Bentonite Clay

I am 30 yrs old and have suffered from a constant yeast infection/candida overgrowth for about 3 years. I'm positive that this was caused by taking many rounds of antibiotics. Over the years I tried everything from traditional western meds (fluconazole, terconazole) to holistic remedies (ACV, probiotics, candida diet, garlic suppository etc.) and while the candida diet helped, it never completely got rid of my yeast infection.

About 5 months ago I discovered bentonite clay and it has changed my life! I bought the liquid form and followed the instructions on the bottle which is to add 1 tablespoon to an 8 oz glass of water and drink 2 times a day on an empty stomach. Within 1 week my yeast infection was completely gone. Since then I've only had 1 relapse (I went on vacation for 10 days, was in the pool for hours at a time, drank lots of beer and ate lots of starchy foods and unfortunately did not bring bentonite clay with me) As soon as I got home I started taking it again and my yeast infection was gone in less than a week. Now I only take it once a day about 3 times a week and I'm still doing well. I have not experienced any side effects and am very happy with the results.

I am so sorry for the delay, Maria. I have not checked this site in a while (I assumed EC would email me if there were any responses to the thread). I purchase my bentonite clay from a local health food store in Los Angeles, but it can also be purchased on Amazon. As I mentioned, I use the kind that comes in liquid form. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm allowed to give the brand name here.

I would like to add that since posting my review I only take bentonite clay once every couple of weeks and am still doing great!

Betel Leaves

Posted by Naga Jap (Los Angeles, CA) on 04/06/2014

Dear All Women and Men out there who suffer from yeast infection. I can't wait to share my experience using the betel Leaves for my yeast infections. It's been more than six months I have been suffering from yeast infections (nobody trusts me including the doctors), but I know that it's yeast infection.

At first, there was white thing in my genital area (I am a guy). I just washed it, and it kept coming back, then I searched internet, and found it was yeast infection. Then using monistat and few drops of vinegar, it was gone in a week, then came back again, diet, using a lot of remedies were not working like: ginger, garlic, coconut oil, turmeric, lemon water.

I knew for a long time about this betel leaves benefit. My friend and my sister already told me about it, but it didn't cross in my mind of using it. Well, one day I met my friend in the bus, and told her bout the yeast infection. Then she told me how to use it. I bought it following day. Here is what happened:

I went to the asian market (Hawaii supermarket in Alhambra, CA), I couldn't find it in other markets. I took the bus, it was a little bit late and cold, but I gotta do something for myself. I bought it, then used only 5 leaves (tore it in small pieces), put 3 bottles waters each 500ml, then boil it for about 20 mins. I mixed a little bit of the turmeric powder in it. Wait until cold, then drink it. Also important thing is to apply the water to the infected area. You will see the color changes to its normal color without any side effect like burning instantly.

I didn't do it that way. Instead, I used the still wet boiled torn leaves to apply it to the area. instantly the color changed, and I didn't see the peeled off skin anymore. I did it for few times before going to bed. Next morning, it looked great. but I still continue doing it for the next couple weeks until it's really gone. I apply it every 3 hours on day time.

On the 3rd day, I tested my spit into a clear cup of water, a lot white separate thing into the water, but I did't see the 'spider net' going down to the bottom anymore. I think the white spread like wet powder in the water are the dead yeast parasite.

Hopefully this post will help everybody in this world, no matter where you are. God bless, and thank you for reading my experience. Naga

I get yeast in my abdominal fold. I've found making borax into a paste and applying it directly to infected area works well. Burns like mad for about 5 minutes but it's gone in 2 days.

Haven't had a yeast infection for years since I started following a Weston Price type diet, but I fell off the wagon and ate a ton of junk food over the last week and suddenly ended up with the worst yeast infection I think I have ever had. In the past I would treat it with probiotic capsules and yogurt, vinegar, baths with oatmeal and nettle. But none of this was working like I remembered. I even made lines of yogurt, sprinkled on the probiotics, froze them, and inserted them. There was hardly any relief at all.

After searching I came across this site and read about Borax. I have it in the bathroom for making laundry soap. I don't have any capsules to use so I just stirred about 2 tsp into 2 cups of water. The burning and itching were so bad I couldn't stand it and I didn't even wait for it to dissolve before shooting some up there with a turkey baster in the bathtub. It burned for a minute but then it got about 95% better and I feel SO much better. Well at least I do down there. I found out the hard way that long turkey basters don't balance well in small measuring cups and that when you knock the solution across the tub while balanced precariously everything gets a bit slippery. Next time I will sit in the bathtub instead.

Borax

Hi, I just wanted to tell about my personal experience with Borax.

First, I've been prone to yeast infections since being on birth control pill. I stopped taking the pill 3 years ago but still will get occasional yeast infections. I found after my first yeast infection that none of the drug store creams worked or would appear to be working and than my yeast infection would return. (I know it was yeast because it smelled like yeast and was accompanied by thick white discharge and itching).

So, I discovered probiotics, apple cider vinager, organic coconut oil and hydrogen peroxide all relieved my yeast infections. Fast forward to last month when I got the WORST yeast infection of my life. Sorry for the TMI but it was so bad that I got a rash on my butt crack and my labia was so swollen and all my usual remedies made things worse.

It had a very yeasty smell and I was sure I got it from eating to much cake and bread (I'm vegan and usually stay away from gluten and sugar but last month I indulged.....a lot). I also had been working and sweating outside, not able to change right away.

Anyways, my period started and the yeast infection seemed to get much better and a day after my period ended it came back with a vengeance. I was crying and miserable and decided to try ice. (I had mini ice cubes, so they were perfect). I rubbed ice outside of my vagina and put a mini ice cube inside as well. It gave me instant relief but I new it wasn't a cure.

I finally decided to try what I had always been scared to try before: boric acid. I was desperate. All I could get was the Borax from the laundry isle. It is a naturally occurring mineral (Sodium tetraborate) and that is the only ingredient listed on the box.

I emptied out my vegetarian probiotics capsule into my water and filled the empty capsule with Borax. I than placed the capsule into my vagina. It tingled a little at first but than I felt relief. It was amazing! I did this 3 to 4 times a day and always had one in overnight. It made my discharge watery, so I would advise using some sort of panty liner. The yeast smell was gone, the itch was gone, the swelling was gone. It was amazing! I did this for 7 days and than stopped.

Borax saved me and I'm so thankful! I just wanted to write about my experience just in case it may help someone else.

I was diagnosed with a yeast infection and suffered them from the age of 16 (1969) until menopause. Turns out I have Sjogren's Syndrome which causes dry eyes and mouth, yeast infections, and ultimately severe arthritis.

In 1972, my doctor recommended I douche with 20 mule team borax. It was effective then and likely the ingredients still work now. I stumbled on this old conversation and wanted to add my experience in the hope it would help others. I recommend seeing and following a doctor's advice but can confirm this douche was once highly recommended and effective.
