Follow-up from my 1st post 3/19/23. Today is 8/27/23, and I wanted to give a follow-up report. I'm still taking the borax, I'm now taking 1/8 teaspoon a day, Mon-Fri, and none on weekends. I'm still pain free, no arthritis, no sciatic nerve pain in back and legs, and no carpet tunnel. I initially felt a surge of energy and well-being, but that reduced after about a month of taking borax. Although I was basically pain free, I started to have less energy like I had before taking borax. But I tried changing my diet, and so far I've felt better and have more energy. I've gone basically (added)sugar-free, wheat-free and corn -free, and I definitely feel better with more energy!!! I still eat some potatoes, some rice, fruit, but I try to eat half the portions I use to, and this has helped my energy a lot!!! I've cut out sweets, candy, cakes, cookies, pies, ice cream, cereals, milk, (everything I love! ). If you have low energy, you will know in 2 weeks if this diet change works! Do not try to go carb-free!!! It will ruin your metabolism like it did mine years ago!

I've been a wrench (mechanic) for nearly 40 years and over that time developed arthritis in my hands to the point that if I tried to make a fist, my knuckles weren't even visible. I started using the recommended dose for women several weeks ago and within the first week my knuckles became visible again and it hurt less to make a fist. Well now, I'd say most of the swelling is gone and the pain is not nearly what it once was.

I also had pain in my shoulders and neck from various injuries over the years and the pain seems to be lessened in those areas as well. My range of motion seems to be increasing week by week and I'm gonna stay on the borax for life as long as I see no adverse reactions, and so far, there have been absolutely none! I can't thank you enough for this website! Gonna try other remedies I find here as well!

I have been taking Borax now for several years after reading an Australian doctor's trial result. It has certainly reduced my arthritis symptoms in my hands and if I miss a dose for a few days, the pain quickly returns.

I was unable to knit for many years, now it is easy again. I would recommend it.

I have arthritis for the last 6 yrs, I was on medications, but when Covid hit, I lost my job and my medication. I am in excruciating pain every single day. I saw this remedy the other day, I hope it works for me. I know it will probably take more than a couple of days to work. Pray for me that it will work for me like everyone else. I want the pain gone.

cj,

Assuming that you tolerate borax and have no significant side effects, 2 months is usually a fair trial period as some people respond slower to borax. Some people do not tolerate borax.

They say that "sorry" is the hardest word.

Imho, patience runs it a very close second place.

I too have recently started with Borax, as other users on this site looking for help, pushed by desperation & frustration in looking for a solution to relieve pain.

Stay with it. A positive mind approach is always another important factor. I'm fully aware as to how that sounds.

Stay with it. And, as always when you need help, ask Him the Lord above for His help and guidance. He brought/guided you to this site, didn't He?

He certainly brought me. And I'm very grateful.

Hi cj

The rule of borax is

Women 1/8 spoon in 1 leter of water, drink through the day.

Men take 1/4 spoon in 1 leter of water, drink through the day.

Drink 1 bottle a day and stop on weekends so your body does not over load. Do this for supplements as well.

Borax really works, I am 71 and have no joint pain what so ever.

Try it, it works..

Hi Gary,

1/4 teaspoon of borax weighs 1.25 grams, which is over 125 mg of elemental boron. Is this too high a daily dosage long term?

Hi Tom 70

Break it down as you like..

1/4 teaspoon 5 days a week and stop on weekends.

I have been drinking it for 5 years and I have 0 joint pain and I feel 60 years old. Just remember Tom 70, when you find something that benefits you stick with it.

Hi cj

I find Borax to be very helpful. I was reading about Parasites..They can also cause a lot of joint pain. The best Parasite killer is Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth. I also take this.

I take 1 cup warm water with 1 teaspoon of F G D E, 5 weekdays and stop on weekends.I do this for 3 months. That lengh of time will kill the eggs that are hatching. After 3 month taking Borax along with F G D E I am almost certain you will be pain free. I continue Borax and if my joints get sore or ache I go back on F G D E. Make sure its Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth. All ranchers feed their livestock with it.You can feed all pets also.

Best of health cj

Thought I would share my new borax method with the EC community as it's working so phenomenally well, and fast, I am quite stunned actually. I have been applying to my lower spine where I was having severe tailbone and sciatica the past few months as well as on my hand and knees. No more pain, no stiffness. I actually forgot I had a bad back yesterday! I am only on day 4 of this and started seeing results after the 2nd day. This works much faster than the internal borax method, in my opinion. Plus absolutely no side effects.

Materials:

  • Bottle (I use a 4 oz amber bottle)
  • Borax
  • DMSO (buy on Amazon - 99.99% purity)

Recipe:

  • Fill the bottle with 4 oz hot distilled water.
  • Add 1 teaspoon of borax (20 Mule Team is what I use)
  • Shake vigorously until the borax is dissolved. Make sure to shake vigorously every day before use.

Application Method

  • Shake, and then pour some of your borax solution into the palm of your hand and then apply to any problem areas you want to treat. Make sure to apply to clean skin before you do this because DMSO is a solvent. Right after a shower is a good time.
  • Massage into the skin until most of it has been absorbed.
  • Add a few drops of DMSO to the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, and then apply the DMSO on top of the borax. Massage into the area and then allow the area to dry before you put on any clothes.

Results:

No pain in the hands.. increased flexibility in the joints.. no clicking when I open and close my fingers. (Note: my hands are achy from years of karate as an adult and intense gymnastics as a child.)

Back pain - gone.

Conclusion:

  • One need apply the borax and DMSO solution only once a day to see results. Perhaps twice is better but one time works for me.
  • The targeted application seems to work much faster than drinking an entire liter of borax 5 days a week.
  • I tried Art's borax arthritis topical cream method last year but had a hard time dissolving the borax, so this distilled water method works perfectly for me. Thanks for the original suggestion, Art!

Try this, please. Would love to hear results from other people.

Have been struggling with shoulder pain for a year. Sometimes one, sometimes the other and sometimes both. It would often wake me up and greatly reduced range of motion. This seems hard to believe, but it must be the borax because I haven't done anything else differently, but after only 3 or 4 days, there is no more pain in either shoulder! They feel completely normal. I've been taking between 1/8 and 1/4 teaspoon in a liter of water and I drink roughly a cup of it 4 times throughout the day. I will do this daily for 10 days, then I'm going down to 5 days a week. I still have stiffness in my hands and feet upon waking up which hasn't changed much, but it's nothing compared to the pain I had from my shoulders. I'm going to continue taking it for a few months to see how much better I can get my hands and feet to feel.

I started using Borax the powder about 2 months ago. I have been dealing with arthritis in my knees, pain in my ankles, and I had one hip replaced. I used the one teaspoon dissolved in about a liter of water and I was initially taking two tablespoons once in the morning. In two days, the pain in my lower body disappeared. I kept waiting for it to return, thinking this is too good to be true. It has not returned and I'm walking like I did 20 years ago! I love Borax! After about a month I reduced to two teaspoons a day. I call it my magic potion!

Ken,

The Borax being referred to is the Borax found in the laundry aisle in most markets across the US and it is called 20 Mule Team Borax. Here is a link to what the box looks like :

https://www.walmart.com/ip/20-Mule-Team-All-Natural-Borax-Laundry-Detergent-Booster-Multi-Purpose-Household-Cleaner-65-Ounce/20850525?

If it is just one shoulder that is causing pain, Deirdre's new topical formula will likely be the quickest way compared to the oral route. Here is a link to her method :

https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/topical-borax-application.html

Keep in mind that this is for arthritis and if your pain is caused by something else it may not help.

I have the beginnings if arthritis in my left thumb for a month now. I decided to try the borax method on the site here, the 1/8 tsp in 4 cups of water. I'm sure I am improving my health in general but I wasn't seeing any pain relief. Then just now I saw your interpretation with the tsp in the litre of water and decided to try it. Maybe when one has something going on in particular, it's good to take enough to “clobber” the pain. Then, ease back once you are comfortable. Sort of a slide rule. I love how you make the stronger version but then take a smaller amount. Thank you for posting. I will be happy to check in again after a month or two.

ORH here,,,,,,,,,,,,,, hands now ache and SJS, I figured it out on my own. When this stuff started, then I bought a water filter. We have used our well water going through an Alkaline Ionizer for some 10 or 12 years. The world is coming to an end so you must have a filter that will clean up water from a cow track. So I bought one. We then stopped using our alkaline ionizer to fill our half gallon of water with a 1/4 tsp of borax. What a miss step that was. After 3 months of no borax, my hand joints now ache. The joints are all headed in different angles. I have out-smattered my self. Not a problem........ I said I would be smart at age 85. and have one and a half years to get there. I so smart that I's going back to before I got so smart. Does that make sense?

For arthritis, I would add some 'borax' to the mix. Borax is touted as the single miracle cure for arthritis in some circles. It is said to balance all the hormones, too. Some call it the natural viagra. There are dozens and dozens of links with all sorts of testimony's to peruse. I use the "Mule Team, " brand you find in the supermarket near the laundry soap section. Good Luck!

Hi all. I recently discovered this website. Very nice. I have never before been into natural remedies. As I get older I am finding that the doctors don't have a clue. Sad to say because I like my doctors. So here it is, I have been using borax for arthritis for 2 weeks now. I had to call in to work today because the pain is so severe. Is this normal? I have continued to take most of my prescribed meds from the doc. Should I stop taking them in order for the borax to do it's job? Also my diet is not very good. Could this be making my reaction worse? I am 53 years old, 5' 6" and 250 lbs. Yes I know I am very overweight. Hopefully I can get through this and get back to moving around and start a regular exercise routine but for now the pain is just too much. I also take levothyroxin for thyroid, and am menopausal. Any advice any one can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Schautzie, I hope you feel better today. I wanted to address your issues in a practical way so others may understand that without lifestyle changes, many of the natural therapies on this site, for the long term are band-AIDS. Mono-therapy is useless unless other health promotion activities are consistently in play. Here is where I would start. I use this list as my own personal health foundation. I'm a healthcare professional and understand, that without foundational changes, my efforts are useless.

1. Cut out ALL processed foods. Figure out what whole foods you enjoy - learn how to prepare them. Make it fun! Challenge yourself to learn how to prepare wholesome food.

2. Exercise 30 minutes a day. Do something you enjoy. Yoga, walking, Pilates. I enjoy my total gym 20 min a day plus high intensity interval training 3 times a week for 20 minutes.

3. No processed sugar. Period.

4. Find 3 or 4 medical/naturopathic MDs/NDs or researchers and follow their guidelines to help you develop your own personal wellness plan. I use Dr. Carolyn Dean, Dr. Andrew Saul, Dr. Mercola plus use nutritionfacts.org and the peoplespharmacy.com.

5. Get as many chemicals out of your house and use organic alternatives.

6. Use earthclinic.com as a place to ask questions to the life- long health experts and the world.

7. Be kind to yourself, but be real. self awareness is key.

Dear, this is just the beginning of your transformation to wellness! Write out your own personal wellness plan. You can do it!

Hi, I've read that with a boron deficiency calcium and other minerals are absorbed by tissue in the area that you experience pain in. When you supplement the borax or boron back into your diet, the tissues release everything that they were storing which is what causes the pain within the initial phase of supplementing it. It then goes away.

Dr. Rex Newnham was the person who pioneered the use of Borax/boron to treat different types of arthritis and one thing he figured out over time is that the worse your arthritis is and the older you are, the longer it will take borax/boron to work. He said that it can take up to 4 months to achieve maximum benefit.

Your one month trial may be inadequate to determine whether borax is effective for you or not. Even prescription drugs can take that long or longer to see maximum.

If you've been boron deficient for a long time, your body may be using the boron to fix something more vital. Which actually makes the teeth sensitivity aspect extremely interesting as it suggests sensitivity in the teeth may be connected to something more serious than arthritis.

Your body knows what it's doing. When it gets something it's been lacking, it doesn't care what you want it to do with it. It's going to apply it where it's needed most, first. Give it some time to get more serious issues under control. Don't try to force it.

People need to realize, to be healthy you need to be drinking at least a gallon of pure clean water per DAY! That's 4 liters a day for you Canucks out there... More if you drink coffee or on water pills... I suggest people to not take any pharmaceutical medication because they are ALL poisons.

Pure clean water = distilled water.

I have been drinking distilled water for 6 -7 years now. It is the cleanest water there is. AND no, distilled water does NOT leech essential minerals from the body. They do however remove any non organic matter that doesn't belong in our bodies. Including heavy metals.

So much water? dehydration is the issue with any mineral. Dr. Beverly Oneill youtube on salt-water talk is brilliant. We take Celtic salt before drinking water, one finger tip wet, dab and I put it in my mouth with a pinch of Boron, swish dissolve with 1/4 cup of water so the cells accept the hydration directly into the bloodstream to the organs. I have been taking borax 4 teaspoons of a solution of one teaspoon in 1 litre of water per day. Hence it has taken more than a month to consume a single teaspoonful of borax. So far no adverse side effects, only good good good. Arthritic pain in fingers gone for first time in more than 40 years. Can move my fingers better than when I was a child. Stronger fingernails, they have always been very soft. Feeling warming, I have been feeling cold for years. Feeling very fit, moving much more easily. Increased energy generally. Life is altogether better. Problems with candida seem to be improved as well.

This is a trace element, are people taking too much? It is also in food, so depending on your diet and water supply you may not need much.

1/4 of teaspoon in a litre of water and then drinking two litres is a huge amount of borax; suggest some people are overdosing.

I have made the same solution, 1 rounded teaspoon borax in 1 liter water. then for 7 consecutive days 3 teaspoons solution 3 times daily with meals. 2 days ago my tongue was swollen on the sides towards the rear of tongue. Also had some restriction swallowing food. Decided to take 2 days off. Today I am better. Tomorrow will take 2 teaspoons solution 3 times daily for 5 days and will reassess the dosage. I plan to try this for several months if necessary to determine if this treatment is good for me.

I would appreciate input from others, especially if using anti-inflamatory prescription drugs to treat arthritis, and if using borax has permitted you to discontinue using drugs.

Hi Everyone... Here is a research paper by Dr Rex Newham, an Australian botanist and his own quest to discover the cure for his own arthritis at age 35 in the 70s and 80s. This is a demographic nutritional study, worldwide, which contains some very interesting facts and statistics about the demographic distribution of borax or boron in the soil. He also allays any poison fears about borax. He also gives good reasons why most modern soils today lack boron or borax in the food chain.

Borax vs. Boron

Posted by Linden (England) on 03/22/2015

Hi there, Is there any reason to take Borax powder rather than boron supplements, other than the price? (The Borax powder is loads cheaper, obviously.)

I have arthritis. Boron supplements seem to come in no higher dose than 3mg capsules. I'm thinking of taking 4 x 3mg capsules daily (I have read that 10mg plus daily is recommended for curative purposes, then drop down to 3 - 6mg daily for maintenance). Will this give as good results as taking the diluted Borax powder at the recommended dosage? (I intend to take magnesium citrate at the same time - how much is recommended?)

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I know that there is so much info on this site it can take months of reading and research to find your answer, so I will do the best I can remember.

Seems this was asked to Ted on here and his response was, that the Boron Pills seem to be full of Fillers and not as easy absorbed by the body. Unlike the Borax Twenty Mule Team with is all natural and no fillers making it more easy for the body to absorb. This is what I remember to the best of my knowledge.

Hi Linden...It defeats me why people even bother to buy the boron supplements from the health shops because dosages of 3 mgs to 6 mgs are way to small and it's expensive. You are better to just buy the borax off the internet -- even technical or lab grade borax is dirt cheap and you will get more for your money. Taking 1/4 tspn borax in a liter of water per day means that you are taking 1000 mgs of borax. But if you work out the actual content of boron in the 1000 mgs of borax -- it only comes to about 115 mgs of boron. Similarly women should take 1/8 tspn (or 500 mgs) borax in a liter of water. That works out to a daily dose of only 57 mgs boron per day.

I've been supplementing borax regularly for about 9 years. I now usually just add a pinch of borax(same as a pinch of salt) to my coffee or tea twice a day. I do this because the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for borax has about the same toxicity level as common table salt. More info on borax for you here.

Best Regards,

Bill

For me Boron was truly a miracle cure. I am a 78 year old male and blessed with good health, but over the past seven years I have had serious trouble with arthritis in my knees, one shoulder and the fingers of my left hand. I had the normal symptoms: pain, stiffness and swollen joints. Walking became increasingly difficult. I tried a number of the OTC medicines, as well as a few of the remedies on this site. None of them brought any relief worth mentioning. Eventually I started with Boron, the 3mg tablets. I take three tablets per day. It has now been fourteen days and I am astonished by the success: no pain, the swelling and stiffness have disappeared and I can walk at a brisk pace. I am now scaling down to two tablets per day as a maintenance dose. (Ps. Using Boron tablets instead of the Borax solution was just a personal choice.)

Boron helps certain types of arthritic joint pain. I take 3mg once or twice a day in pill form, along with Magnesium 400mg / D3 at 5,000 IU / and some Calcium (as I don't eat dairy). I know that taking CA is under dispute by some - but I find that I get muscle aches when I don't take it for a few days, so I must need it to some degree. I try to take less CA than I do MG however.

Boron is the key to relieving joint pain though - It is nothing short of amazing.

Google "Boron and Arthritis" to read about it. Lots of info here on EC too.
