Apple Cider Vinegar for Sinus Infections

Last Modified on Apr 18, 2014

Apple cider vinegar is an effective natural treatment that alleviates the cause of the condition and offers relief to clogged, painful sinuses. A number of over-the-counter and even home remedies for sinus infection, congestion, and headache are available. However, many of those remedies only offer temporary relief and do little to actually treat the cause of the condition. Apple cider vinegar, on the other hand, is an effective treatment option that helps to cure the sinus infection while relieving pain and making breathing easier.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Nasal Congestion

Apple cider vinegar is a home remedy that has been used for centuries to treat a wide range of conditions. Today, the treatment is still used in a variety of ways and is popular with millions as an effective health aid.

Steaming with apple cider vinegar is the typical method used to clear the nasal passages. This process allows the vinegar to safely and effectively irrigate the sinuses without irritating the sensitive mucous membranes.

Is It Safe?

Apple cider vinegar is a safe, natural alternative to many over-the-counter nasal decongestants and sinus infection remedies. The vinegar functions to naturally clear the nasal passages as well as to eliminate infection. Some caution is required when using the remedy as the vinegar is acidic and could potentially cause damage to sensitive tissues. However, when used in diluted amounts for a temporary period, such as with steaming, there is not usually a problem.

How to Cure Sinus Infection Using Apple Cider Vinegar Steaming

Steaming with apple cider vinegar is a safe, natural cure for sinus congestion. To use the treatment, heat a pot of water until it steams -- be careful not to bring the water to a boil! Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the water and drape a towel over the neck and head with the face over the steaming pot. Breathe in the steam and repeat throughout the day.

How it works:

Apple cider vinegar typically contains 5 to 6% acetic acid. This acid keeps bacteria from growing and works to eliminate infection in the sinuses. The natural substance also contains an assortment of vital nutrients that reduce inflammation.

The best kind of vinegar to use:

Raw organic apple cider vinegar is the best form to use as it contains the most living nutrients. Bragg apple cider vinegar is one of the best options.

The steam and the nutritional contents of apple cider vinegar help to safely and naturally relieve sinus congestion. This treatment can be used regularly to treat sinus infection and to support the recovery of the immune system.

Apple Cider Vinegar Remedy for Sinus Infections

Folk Medicine Ingredients:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar - 1 Tablespoon
  • Water - 16 Ounces
  • Honey (optional)

The apple cider vinegar tonic, taken two or three times a day, can quickly break up congestion, kill pathogens, and improve other sinus infection symptoms as well. Add one tablespoon each apple cider vinegar and honey to a 6 to 10 oz glass of warm water, and drink.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is our favorite remedy for stopping sinus infections. We wish more people knew about this amazing home treatment. The idea is to take apple cider vinegar before the sinus infection occurs, which for most people is at the start of allergies, colds, flu, etc.

We have found that when apple cider vinegar is taken either as a daily tonic or at the first sign of an allergy or cold (i.e., sinus headache, stuffy nose, watery eyes), one can completely stop the histamine response or allergic reaction.

There are a couple ways you can drink apple cider vinegar ("ACV"). One way is to put 1/8 to 1/4 cup ACV in 16 oz of water and sip it throughout the day. The other method is to gulp 2 TBSP of ACV in 8 oz of water all at once.

If you have an existing sinus infection, keep drinking a mixture of ACV and water throughout the day for several days.

Please remember -- the key to success is to use apple cider vinegar before a sinus infection appears (i.e. during the first stages of a flu or allergy attack, or after you've eaten a bowl of ice cream).

Question: Why does ACV alleviate sinus congestion so quickly?

Answer: ACV thins mucus almost immediately. One of the first things you will notice after drinking apple cider vinegar is that the color of your mucus goes from white or green and thick, to thin and clear. The thinning of mucus is the key to kicking your sinus infection. Once you have thin mucus, you can clobber the infection with one of many remedies from this page. Wild oregano oil is one of our favorites for bacterial infections, but grapefruit seed extract is also very potent. Whatever remedy you try, remember to keep up the apple cider vinegar throughout the day for several days and drink lots and lots of water.

[YEA]  01/23/2014: Lynn from Houston, Texas: "I have been suffering with a sinus infection for the last four days, I just tried the Apple cider vinegar with honey and warm water and what a relief. I can actually breath out of my nose!!!! I also took the warm glass and rolled it against my face as I breathed in the steam, that really seemed to relax me and I feel so much better!!! Thanks Earth Clinic"

01/25/2014: Lakeisha from West Haven, Ct replies: "Hi, I was wondering did you drink this? Because I read where someone actually put that mix on a cotton swab and put it in their nostril."

[YEA]  03/18/2013: Elena from Madrid: "Apple Cider Vinegar really works for sinus! I've been treated with antibiothics several times but it keept coming back... Reading your posts I decided to give a try to the Apple Cider Vinegar remedy and congestion was gone in minutes, no signs of sinus two days after! I feel good and relieved. Thanks!"

03/29/2013: Jim from Naples, Fl replies: "Hogwash. This does not work. If you truly had a sinus infection like I do currently, some mom and pop method of drinking nasty apple cider vinegar will not work. Show me the proof. Tried & tested and it doesn't work. There are studies however showing how vinegar limits the absorbtion of vitamins and minerals, hence hampering a sinus infection cure. Stick to modern medicine."
08/25/2013: Vanille Chai from Holland replies: "I've had this cold since October last year. I always carry tissues around with me, because of the runny nose I had. Runny nose is gone, but then I got even worse symptoms:

pain in the ears (pressure, popping), head, sometimes in throat, but worst of all... RINGING IN EARS 24/7 for three months now.

I went to the doctor, he said I had a chronic sinus infection, and that my eustachian was completely clogged because of it. He gave me a nasal spray first; did not work. Went back to the doc again, and I got antibiotics; quit those, because they made me feel worse. That was it...

i started using Apple Cider Vinegar yesterday evening; 1 tbsp ACV, 2 tsp honey, 8oz purified water. Took another two cups today. (I find ACV sooo sour! Yuck, but I am desperate).

I feel like it got worse. Worse ear pain, and louder ringing in the ears. Does it get worse first before it gets better? (I always seem to react like this, whether I take modern or natural cures)

I also decided to start using a neti pot to rinse the mucus out of my nose. I feel so desperate right now, it hurts and the sounds inside my head are driving me to the edge.

Am I doing something wrong/ how long does it take to work?"

08/25/2013: Anon from Usa replies: "You might have a weakened immune and digestive system. If you get sick your body uses specific resources to get well; but if you are sick for a long time or get really sick the resources can get depleted. A few years ago I caught a cold I could not shake, it lasted months like yours. I tried many things, I'm still trying to manage it. What's benefited so far is the following:

Quit eating anything with gluten. In the section on Earth Clinic about boils and MRSA someone mentioned he had an infection that made it seem like he had a gluten sensitivity. Gluten can cause a chemical burn of sorts in the small intestine in some people. It can seem like you have a cold or flue.

Quit eating any cow milk products that are not soured - no pasteurized milk, ice cream, or foods with those things in them. Regular goat milk is easier to digest. Eat saturated fat products such as unsalted butter, plain full-fat yogurt, cream cheese, cheese, frozen yogurt - raw and unprocessed is better.

Quit cocoa, coffee or tea with caffiene. It is said that when the body is stimulated by these foods it does not repair itself as it normally would. Instead drink organic chamomile tea (with lemon balm if you can find it), take valerian root capsules, and drink liccorice root tea. As directed of course. These will calm your system down and help you sleep better in theory helping heal you. Additionally chamomile and lemon balm have anti-microbial properties.

Quit using any form of sweetner and avoid sweet foods and starchy foods, some on rare occasions may be tolerable. Your tolerance may increase after you begin feeling better. If you eat something that makes you sick, or might, take psyllium fiber with a large glass of water to dilute the sugar or whatever, or eat a raw cucumber.

Do Ted's aspirin remedy for the H1N1 flu.

Do the olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic liver cleanse. You can search the specifics of it online. I did this a few nights in a row and then awoke suddenly in the middle of the night feeling really good.

Eat several small light meals daily. Choose fresh avacados, celery, romain lettuce, cucumbers, apples, cantaloup, raw cabbage because they have less carbohydrate. It will make digestion easier.

Take a teaspoon of Swedish Bitters with meals once or twice a day. Not sure how long you'd have to use it.

1000 mg or more vitamin C per day.

Turmeric - 1 or 2 teaspoons a day, organic non-irradiated.

Fresh lemon juice with cayenne pepper daily, maybe 1 or 2 organic lemons with a half teaspoon non-irradiated cayenne pepper mixed in, put it in a liter bottle, fill the rest of the way with water, and sip it all day so it's gone by evening. Boil the lemon rinds briefly to make a tea, let it sit until it's cooled but still somewhat warm, eat the peeling too, if it's organic."

08/25/2013: Anon from Usa replies: "Zinc is said to help ringing in the ears. Zinc is helpful for immunity, too. They say no more than 100mg per day.

A half teaspoon each nutmeg, cloves, and turmeric stirred into a glass of water and drunk should dry up the sniffles and help you feel better. Drink plenty of water, not milk or coffee. This is helpful if you have to go to work, or out among people and such and you don't want to be sniffling."

08/26/2013: Toourlady89 from Ca, Usa replies: "I use Oil of Oregano capsules for cough and colds twice a day till I'm better or to max of 3 weeks. Oil of Oregano is very effective to kill of upper respiratory viruses. It also comes as wild Oil of Oregano drops in a bottle but I prefer the capsules. Make sure it's 70 - 80 % Carvachol."
[YEA]  11/12/2013: Jon Mccarty from Thailand replies: "Improvement for me. I have tried this before a long time ago and then forgot about it. Last night, after reading this site, tried again and was first time I could sleep on me back and breath through my nose in ages.

Helped with the current sinus infection after a couple of hours and after another dose in the morning, have been breathing not completely clear, but much better today."

[YEA]  03/09/2013: Barry from Canton, Ga: "WOW, just wow. Apple cider vinegar cleared my sinus infection OVERNIGHT. Unbelievable. Wish I'd known this years ago.

Here's what I did:

Two tablespoons ACV, followed by forced liquids till bedtime. And, I mean FORCED. I drank about two gallons of water in a four hour period. This morning, I can breathe through both sides of nose, fever gone, no more pressure.

This is a truly amazing and simple cure that actually WORKS OVERNIGHT. And it only cost me .98. ACV and forced liquids... you got to try this."

03/10/2013: Salyk from Kelowna, B.c. Canada replies: "Question: do I take the ACV on its own, and then drink loads of liquids. Or do I put the ACV in the liquids each and every time, for my sinus congestion?"
06/10/2013: James from Kutztown, Pennsylvania replies: "Do not drink two gallons of water. That could kill you. A gallon of water in a sitting can cause severe pain and even death. Most people will die if they drink 1.5 gallons to 2.5 gallons in a short period of time say an afternoon. Listen to your body do not force anything on your body that makes you uncomfortable. Please!

I did drink a gallon of water in 1 hour when I was in highschool and it causes severe pain for about 4 hours. I later found out that drinking that much water can kill you."

06/11/2013: Mary from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada replies: "Water could harm you only if you don't add salt. Too much water could only damage when the electrolytes get too diluted. Dr. Batman (the water cure) says 1/2 of your weight in ounces per day. Also for every 10 of those glasses of water it is 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt. I have drunk 3 1 in a day salted and I feel great. His site has many great testamonials of this and I have also heard first hand of a student of mine who did this and she is incontinent. She can only go for 1 hour without needing the bathroom. After 3 weeks of the water cure she can now go 1 1/2 hours before needing to go. She is very excited!!!"
06/11/2013: Om from Hope, B.c., Canada replies: "Batmanghelidj protocol says not to salt the water but keep 1/8 tsp sea salt on tongue for every 16 oz water we drink. (1l).

The reason people have to run to the bathroom after drinking water is that they do not ingest the natural salt which helps to hydrate the body so the water leaves the body soon after. Otherwise it would be detrimental and resulting in dehydration. It seems people in hot countries must have more salt to keep hydrated. Which makes one ponder how much damage has been wreaked on humanity by substituting denatured and depleted salt, even prohibiting salt as dangerous without regard to the fact that salt is necessary for bodily survival. Even animals must have their salt licks, so definitely our pets.

The water cure should be done very slowly without forcing the body which has been mentioned here by another post very much in detail.

The immediate effect can be very telling and there is definitely a feeling of wellbeing even after drinking two glasses of pure water.

I have begun with this protocol but so far have not exceeded four glasses a day. However, no hurry. Om"

06/13/2013: Te from Charlotte, NC replies: "Can you add sea salt to your drinking water and if so how much. This post is enlightening."
07/24/2013: Anonymous from Florida, Miami replies: "Listen in high school I drank almost two gallons of water within a couple hours! It was my silly way to try get rid of a UTI my body began to tremble and shake it was like going into SHOCK. So it disrupts the electrolytes balance. So be reasonable drinking 9 to 10 glasses a day seems fine."
07/24/2013: Mike Giller from Denver, Colorado replies: "I drink 1 pint an hour, 2 when I am walking during the summer."
07/24/2013: Prioris from Fort Pierce, Fl, Usa replies: "I use the color of my urine to tell me if I am getting enough water in me. Guidelines that say one must drink a certain amount of water are absurd. It is better to just let your body tell you. Use your urine as an indicator. If it is a dark color, you likely need more water."
[YEA]  08/08/2013: Lisa from Alaska replies: "This is fantastic. The pressure is almost gone and I'm draining."

[YEA]  02/25/2013: Californiacait from Edmonton, Alberta: "I had been suffering the last three days with a Sinus infection and spent over 30 dollars on over the counter Sinus meds and sprays only to get temperary relief. I finally gave in and went to the doctor, who only gave me yet again, another nose spray and a perscription for an antibiotic (basically 8 capsules of cultivated mold) for 50 dollars... I don't know about you guys but I don't have 50 dollars to drop on my nose. But thank god I found the Apple Cider Tonic on this site, and within less then 30 minutes I could breathe through my nose again. Thankyou earth clinic, I'm going to continue using this treatment with a little less ACV though to see how it fairs againt my allergies. <3"

[YEA]  01/29/2013: Anne from Auckland, New Zealand: "Whoever came up with this idea deserves a medal! Sceptical but desperate I tried this idea today. Within 10 minutes of sipping the solution I bent down to pick something up from the floor and whooosh the whole lot cleared from my sinus. I've drunk the rest over the balance of the evening and have not had pain or drips since. It makes your throat a bit raspy but hey... What a simple yet effective fix. Much appreciated folks!!!"

[YEA]  01/29/2013: Susie from Salem, Or: "My husband has had chronic sinus infections, with allergy's. I found your article on the Internet and talked him into trying it, he suffered for years with ringing ears, dizziness , and no sense of smell, they all seem to go along with his sinus congestion and pain. As soon as he started the Apple Cider Vinegar , his ringing ears stopped, as did the dizziness, and he even smells certain odors. The pain also left. I thought he was just getting old with most of those symptoms, but they are gone and he feels great. We are both taking the vinegar everyday and will probably keep on, I have allergies and have problems breathing through my nose and get ear aches, those symptoms have gone away for me also."

03/04/2013: Habib from Melbourne, Vic replies: "Hi Susie, can u pls tell me how did u take apple cider vinegar for sinus, I appreciate."
03/12/2013: Sticks from West Point, California Usa replies: "I think you just click on the treatment tab next to the reviews and ratings tab, and it will show you the recipe.

- 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
- 16 0z water
- 1 drop to 1 tsp of honey (optional)

I have heard of using 2 tbsp of the ACV in the same amount of water."

[YEA]  01/07/2013: Ken from Johnstown, Pa: "For about a decade, I'd have to get a prescription for sinus infection at least once or twice per year. The results were usually decent but took a while.

Since I found this site & home remedy 3 or 4 years ago I have not had to get a presciption even once! The results are phenomenal. It works quicker and more completely than antibiotics. The fact that it is natrual is a huge "plus".

I've found that the warm water with ACV and honey works best, for sure, but cold water and ACV will do a fair job in a pinch.

A big "Thanks" to all on this site for the amazing advice. What a huge help ACV has been for me."

[YEA]  01/19/2013: Jimdarling from Los Angeles, California replies: "Just drank my 3rd cup... Feeling way better with each. This is awesome! Thanks yall!"

01/05/2013: Katielady from Charlotte, Nc: "About 4 months ago I got a sinus infection. I used over the counter decongestants and pain relievers for a month or so and rested and drank plenty of water, my symptoms subsided slightly and all seemed well. But it kept coming back. 6 weeks ago, my sinuses were full, my face hurt, my ears were full or "popped" and my throat was sore from drainage. Finally I got an ear infection (so painful!!! ) so I went to a doctor hoping for relief. I was put on a hard core antibiotic for 10 days. 11 days later the only improvement was my ear. Desperate for this crap to go away, I tried some things that have worked for past sinus stuff or colds. I tried garlic, probiotisc and tulsi tea. Got no where.

I started researchin natiral cures and remedies and came upon this site. THANK MY LUCKY STARS!!!!!! I started ACV 2 tsp in 8 oz of warm water with honey. After the first dose, my I noticed drastic improvements. I was able to blow my nose and feel my sinus open, snot actually came out! After 2 days, my ears opened. Every time I took the ACV the condition improved!!!!!!!! After a week I could sleep through the night comfortably, breathe easily through out my day, and then I started oil pulling with sesame oil. Things got even better. Even though I felt fine, and the stuff still coming out of my nose was clear, the first time I did the oil pulling LARGE amounts of super icky green and yellow snot came out of my nose.

Also as a result of the OP I have noticed my skin improving, I no longer need moisturizer and it's cold outside! To top it off i've recently started with kelp and BSM. The kelp is for the iodine that can be lost while taking Apple Cider Vinegar and the molasses for iron. Now thanks to the great information i've found on this site ACV has become a staple in my home. ALSO I've lost 5 pounds. Super!!! Thanks for the help!"

01/30/2013: Lauren from La, Ca replies: "This sounds amazing and I have been suffering so much. How often do you drink the ACV mix and what oil do you use for OP?

Thanks in advance"

[YEA]  01/03/2013: Simon from Brighton, Uk: "Had a sinus infection for the last week. Bought some APPLE CIDER VINEGAR and by the time I had finished the drink my nose had already started to clear. Recommended remedy."

12/20/2012: Willow from New York: "This works. I was suffereing from a full blown sinus infection. It takes longer than antibiotics to kill all the bugs and feel the difference, but I did it with the fresh ginger tea mixed with unfiltered organic AVC and oregano leaf oil 3 times a day, Neti pot 3 times a day, frequent hot showers, and humidifier. Yes, the drinks are so intense even the bacterias can't survive."

12/10/2012: Jeff from Long Beach, Ca: "Thankful for the Internet! Recently had the flu & I'm prone to sinusitis/sinus infections. Decided to use ACV for the first time ever, & did 2tbl in 8oz water. It wasn't too bad, & now most importantly, it has been breaking up the mucus so much so, that my nose has been running now. It works & will plan on using it for my next cold/allergy. Also endorsing GSE, Nasal saline, Neti Pot, & I'm looking to try that tea! Thank you all for our better health!"

[YEA]  12/07/2012: Vivi from Nottingham, United Kingdom: "Thankfully I found this website. I had a nasty cold and chesty cough, which turned into a vicious and lingering sinus infection, which would not budge even with numerous saline rinses and steaming, so by the 5th week I was driven to go the doctors, who prescribed antibiotics. I have also lost my sense of smell and taste for the last 2 weeks. I have ME/CFS and am very sensitive to medication especially antibiotics & steroids, so didn't really want to try them, but felt desperate. Needless to say I got terrrible side effects after only 2 tablets, so had to discontinue them.

I strated taking ACV last evening. I also did the special tea that Joel from Aliquippa, Pa posted on 12/20/2011. I was amazed that my sinuses began to clear straight away and I could smell fleetingly. This morning I suddenly could smell fully & went round sniffing everything. I had a lovely tasty, aromatic brunch of onion soup, then tuna, spring onion & lettuce salad with cider vinegar/olive oil dressing followed by poached pears in cinnamon with sultanas!! It tasted great!! I am so thankful. It was so getting me down.

I have had some more ACV today and my nose has cleared some more and I am beginning to feel better too. My chest is fine with only the odd cough. I am quite amazed by the effect of ACV. I only had the ordinary variety, but have ordered the special organic ACV & will always keep some in my kitchen from now on."

12/21/2012: Roselenee from Miramar, Florida replies: "I have been suffer with a sinus problem seing I was teenager, every year my doctor have to put me on antibiotic for two weeks. I always has sever headaches, I think if apple cides vinegar is good for sinus infection. thanks for your information!"

10/20/2012: Organicgirl from Jacksonville, Florida, Usa: "I'm 45 and have suffered from allergies and sinus troubles all my life. The fact that my parents smoked in our house while I was growing up didn't help my problem... At all. As an adult, I was diagnosed with chronic sinusitis. Drats! After dealing with antibiotics and steroid nasal sprays (I can't take OTC decongestants), I decided to research natural remedies. Fortunately, my search eventually led me to this site. I tried the ACV treatment - 2 TBSP of organic ACV, 1 TBSP organic local honey or maple syrup, and 8 oz of purified water. Had a drastic effect after the first cup. Major drainage and pressure relief. Consecutive elixirs proved to be not as effective or dramatic as the first, but I've definitely felt a difference - less congestion, pressure, easier nasal breathing, less dizziness, and eye gook, just to name a few. I found coupling the ACV drink with NeilMed's hypertonic extra strength Nasa Mist works very well. Compared to this past dose of antibiotics and steroid nasal spray with little if any results, I highly recommend the ACV elixir and NeilMed's products.

Good luck and cheers to hopefully curing our sinus problems!"

[YEA]  10/11/2012: Texaschic from Lantana, Tx: "This really works folks! I had a sore throat for 2 days and on day 3 in went into my sinus (where I have a deviated septum). The pain was excruciating! (even on 600 mg of Ibuprofen) I was volunteering at the school and I had to leave due to the pain. Couldn't get any air through my left side and extreme pain throughout the entire lower and upper sinuses. Miserable~!

I had already been taking probiotics, vitamins, drinking chicken soup. Here's what I did:
* 8oz hot water, 2 tbs ACV (organic unfiltered), 1 tbs raw honey. Drank this mixture every hour... 3 times in the evening.
* 2, 000 mg oral Vit D
* Probiotics
* HOT HOT water on a thick washcloth compress across the sinuses, hold for sever minutes and repeat.
* Saline nasal spray every hour

I was in bad shape, but went to bed (with head elevated) and woke up with no pain! Wow.

Folks, please, please don't take antibiotics until way after you try this."

10/14/2012: Cindy Green from Conklin, New York, Usa replies: "Thank you for the information! I have been sick now for 15 days and already had an antibiotic with little success. I only have 1 question, did you have neck pain also? This will not go away and I get it some in my back. It's like a pinched nerve. I really don't want to go back to the doctor unless I have to. Anymore advice/ tips would be helpful! Thanks, Cindy"
10/14/2012: Kathy from Henrico, Va replies: "You may want to start taking magnesium. Stay away from chocolate until you don't have anymore pain in your neck and back. ~Kathy~"
10/19/2012: Organicgirl from Jacksonville, Fl, Usa replies: "I have a severe sinus infection and it's the same old thing everyone else has commented on in regards to antibiotics, steroid nasal sprays, saline nasal sprays, hot steam, etc. Nothing has given me relief. I thought I'd try your recommendation with the ACV. I tried it using just regular organic ACV. It worked wonders after just one cup and, bonus, it relaxed me. I had another cup this morning and same results. I went to the health food store and purchased the raw ACV with the "mother" and I must say I didn't get the same results. I had better results with the regular, plain organic ACV. The one with the "mother" made me hyper and did absolutely nothing for my sinuses compared to the awesome results I had with the plain ACV."
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  11/06/2012: Mel6288 from Nashville, Tn replies: "Thanks, OrganicGirl! I tried the "mother" ACV this morning for my sinus infection, and it helped a little, but it didn't have the amazing results that many people have talked about here. I'll try just the regular organic ACV this time."
01/01/2013: Caroline from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio replies: "the pain in your neck may be a result from strain while sneezing or blowing your nose or possibly coughing. I pulled a muscle in my neck from coughing too hard recently, and kept aggravating it with more coughing. a simple long cotton bag (i used a new sock) 2/3 filled with uncooked rice, microwaved it for 1 min helped that. it can be used on any pained muscle. "
01/20/2013: Wonder from Dallas, Tx replies: "I had a severe head cold and it has turned into a sinus infection. I was searching for a natural remedy for sinusitis and came across this site. I am going to try the ACV and honey. I've always taken garlic. I've run out right now. I have also tried the organic ACV with the "mother" in it and did not care for the results. I like the regular ACV."

[YEA]  10/09/2012: Don from Moorpark, Ca: "I have had sinus problems for at least 10 years. I have used all the allergy medicines in combination with antibiotics, but hated the side effects. After getting this last infection I checked the internet for a cure and the ACV article came up, I thought I would try and after about an hour felt relief in my sinus. Nice simple cure. Thanks for the information."

10/05/2012: Rabbit7 from Athensedua, Oh: "OMG, lying in bed, cheeks were killing me. Did the NetyPot, but my sinuses were so congested that no fluid would drain from the other nostril-more pain. Read the ACV remedy, as a last result I made the concoction. I kid you not, the gunk that was in my head started draining immediately. The pain is now tolerable, and I can sleep. Do it again tomorrow. Didn't use honey, used Truvia, 1 Tbsp, pinched my nose and drank. Actually, wasn't bad, tasted tart."

[YEA]  09/07/2012: Stallischelle from West Allis, Wi: "I've been suffering with a sinus infection for 8 months, and have tried seemingly everything offered by Eastern and Western health practices: Chinese herbs formulated for sinus health, acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, two rounds of antibiotics, and a prescription nasal spray combined with a daily dose of allergy meds. Now armed with a bottle of organic ACV with the 'mother', I am finally winning the battle! Three times a day I drink a tea consisting of 8oz. Water, 1 Tablespoon ACV and 1 Tablespoon of locally harvested honey. Once daily I use a NetiPot with 8oz. Distilled water, 1/4 tsp. ACV and 1/4 tsp. Plain salt (4oz. Per nostril). I've tried the NetiPot before without much success, but once I added the ACV I noticed an immediate improvement. Yes, it burns some but the results are more than worth the short term discomfort. My sinuses have cleared significantly after only two days, and I intend to continue with this routine to kick out the infection altogether. I am also considering adding the practice of oil-pulling to even further reduce the bacteria and toxins that my body is apparently harboring."

10/24/2012: Remei from Port Arthur, Texas Usa replies: "can you comment on the oil-pulling? I never heard of that. I would like to know more. I hate medical doctors so I use all natural remedies. I believe that the body was created from natural elements and synthentic drugs don't work. so tell me about oil-pulling."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  08/24/2012: Adambur from Kansas City, Missouri: "Similar to others I hate antibiotics and the negative side effects associated with them. Came to this site for a sinus infection that I suffered with for over a week. Tried saline sinus rinse which would clear me up enough to sleep through the night along with breathe right strips. After continuing to be miserable I tried 8oz warm distilled water, 2tbsp organic unfiltered apple vinegar with mother, and 1 tbsp honey. Maybe I am a baby but this tasted awful. I had major troubles drinking it without gagging. I hated it. Being desperate, I forced it down. A few minutes later I noticed pressure relief in my forehead but nostrils weren't as clear as I had hoped. I could definitely tell a difference in my facial pressure so will use this again (with more honey and maybe a green tea bag) along with the sinus sinse. Made me a believer."

[YEA]  09/05/2012: Medcalfchef from Albany, NY - USA replies: "2 TBSP Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
1 TBSP Organic Honey
8-10 oz Hot Water

In approximately 20 minutes the drainage will begin, and the pressure will be relieved. This lasts for an hour to an hour an a half. It was my saving grace with the last sinus infection I had. This, along with saline irrigation cleared up the infection--NO steroidal nasal spray, NO antibiotics needed."

09/21/2012: Kristina from Mt. Pleasant, Sc replies: "We use real Maple Syrup with ACV and like it much better than honey."
01/20/2013: Wonder from Dallas, Tx replies: "Some people, myself included, react to the "mother" in some ACV. I found the regular ACV works for me. Plus there are many other uses for ACV as well. I could be wrong but the mother seems like mold. I am allergic to mold. So I don't use it."
01/28/2013: Stephanie from Buffalo, Ny Usa replies: "How often did you take this mixture? I just tried it for the first time and I'm not sure if I should be doing this daily, a couple times a day, etc? Thanks!"

[YEA]  08/16/2012: Skeptic To Believer from Chicago, Il: "I had to add my success with ACV for sinus infections. I recently got hit quickly with a sinus infection after having travelled on a long flight. I've been a sufferer for several years now and have always gone to the doctor for a script. Never again! This worked so well! The infection hit me Tues morning and I knew I wouldn't be able to get in to see my doc - plus, I was so tired of being bound to going to the doc and to prescriptions every time this happened. I found this site and got the recipe for a couple of TBSP ACV (organic, raw, unfiltered with the "mother" - that's the key), warm water and honey. I eyeballed the amounts and took the first cup on Tues night. I couldn't believe that I slept through the night - that never happens with the onset of a sinus infection. I continued to drink 3-4 cups throughout the day on Wed. By Wed night, I was feeling fine. Fine!! I will continue to drink it today because I'm not quite 100% yet, but I am stunned by the effectiveness of this natural remedy! Very happy to report a very enthusiastic "yea". Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

[YEA]  08/02/2012: Shawn from Ny: "I have been suffering from mulitple sinus infections for the past year now. I took antibiotics over and over just as soon as it would work a week or two later it was back. I came upon this site and decided to give Apple Cider Vinegar a try thinking it was better than a run to the emergency room. I took the 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar with 8oz of water and abracadabra just as simple as that it was gone.......... Definitely, definitely, definitely works. Im so thankful for this site."

08/05/2012: Freezekewl from New York replies: "Shawn, when you say you "took" apple cider vinigar, what do you mean? Do you mean you ingested it orally or used it in a neti pot by irrigating through the nose?"
09/20/2012: Allison from Cheonan, South Korea replies: "Netipots should only be used with water and the salt sold with it! Drink the ACV."

07/11/2012: Android from Vancouver, Canada: "I get chronic sinus infections and my best remedy starts with apple cider vinegar, I also take echinacea and use a saline rinse. Always make sure to drink lots of water and I find that if I lay on the couch or in bed the mucus turns thicker and more stagnant, whenever I get a sinus infection I make sure to alway keep moving, nothing too intense just keep busy doing things around the house or going for small walks.

If you follow this routine as soon as you feel the start of a sinus infection it will be gone quickly, sometimes in my case it only lasts for a day or too."

[YEA]  07/01/2012: Rachel from Plainfield, Illinois: "I had a wicked sinus infection. The pressure was all through my face, head, and ears. It felt like my head was going to explode! I went to the doctor but they wouldn't see me because I couldn't find my insurance card (blessing in disguise). I came home (totally upset and crying which doesn't help! ) and Googled how to get rid of a sinus infection without antibiotics and I found this wonderful website. I get an infection about 1-2 times a year and off to the doctors for antibiotics I go. Well NEVER AGAIN!

I read through all the posts, then went down the street to our local health store and bought ACV with the mother and a local honey, all natural and raw. When I got home it was about 5pm. I made the drink- 8oz water- 2 Tbls ACV- 1 Tbls honey. I drank it slowly. Right away I was blowing out a bunch of gunk. It wasn't immediate complete relief, but this really does work. I drank a total of 3 glasses of the drink throughout the evening. I went to bed around 11pm. I just got up now and feel sooooooo much better. I am still not 100%, but all of the pressure in my head is gone. I am completely amazed!! On antibiotics within this short of a time I do not feel this much of a relief. WOW DOES THIS WORK!!!!"

[YEA]  07/02/2012: Marty from Nevada City, California replies: "I can not believe this, but it is true. The apple cider vinegar (ACV) treatment is a miracle!! I started using it yesterday after reading the reviews on this site and by last night I was MUCH better. Did another "treatment" this morning and I'm almost 100%. I actually had enough energy to mow all of my lawn without any pain in my head... yipee and thanks."

[YEA]  05/19/2012: Labs52 from Brownsburg, In: "OMG! I have never had a sinus infection before. it has been a week now and I am starting to feel worse... Just drank the ACV, water and honey...... And I feel better already. I will try more later.... It is 10pm.... Thank you for the suggestion. I NEVER get sick... And did not want to go to the doctor or take prescribed meds. Thank you Thank you"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  06/13/2012: Regi's Cafe from Miami, Fl replies: "Sipping my first tea of ACV with the ginger honey crystals, some local honey and hot water.... Already feeling some relief from sinus headache, runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. I hope this does it. I hate meds. I will post update on my progress - thumbs up so far."

[YEA]  05/18/2012: Sophie from Seattle: "I had my first sinus infection which is caused by bacteria My symptoms: a stiff neck, headache and fever I had no idea that a stiff neck is considered a serious sinus infection yet I was not stuffed up at all. I had a facial rash during and after the sinus infection I don't understand how you get a rash from the sinus infection? Anyhow took ACV and zinc that helped tremendously."

05/16/2012: Jem from Clueless, Il: "Since Oct 2011 I've been ill. Sudden confusion and weakness took over and panick from not knowing what was going on. My vision gets worse, liteheadedness, and balance was off. Even tremors would happen and this extreme pressure in my head. I do remember getting sick later on one time which was very odd. Seemed like a cold but sooo dry and painful. It took so long to get a little better. But even after I still had these strong symptoms occuring almost everyday.

I've been to ER over 7x with no answers. Seen doctors who'd only try to give me depression pills. NO THANX! I've tried everything from stores. And finally I've come to think maybe it's a sinus infection? I've never had them b4.

Found this site and decided to try ACV. The 1st day I did my vision blurred up. I didn't feel good at all. (Yes I made the mixture correct. ) I felt soo tired and just went to bed. The 2nd day I drank it 3x I was finally feeling pressure release from my head. I couldn't stop sneezin and my nose was runnin all day. I even had a fever. And today I feel like I can see almost perfectly. Still sneezin and whatever but I feel a bit better. Just can't figure out why my legs are cold to the touch.

Gona keep drinkin it but my guess is that if it is an infection it's pretty bad. Probly take awhile to get through it. I've lost my job in 2011 cuz of this. I can only work 3days a week now due to how this has taken over my body. I'm close to losin this easy job 2cuz I can't function normally. I've gained weight cuz how weak I am. IT SUX BEIN ME!!!! I'm only 28yrs old.

Hopefully this is the answer to my problems. If it is I'll be in touch. I'm so desperate for my health to improve I hardly even remember what it's like to feel like my old self again. I never had problems b4. Pray for me please!!!!!"

05/26/2012: Karatelady from Gainesville, Ga replies: "I'm trying the ACV today for the first time. It is so delicious with the recipe mentioned. Constant sinus infections and many other issues have been a mystery to me until I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. It has so many symptoms its a hard one to figure out. Even testing isn't that good. I'm not well but at least know the root cause of the sinus issues."
08/25/2012: Tognem from Chorley, Lancashire replies: "hi I have just found this site yesterday and started the asv treatment with honey and water done it 3 times yesterday and felt the benifit lifted the banging head which had kept me in bed didnt clear the sinusis but have been bad chronic for 2 years so will probably take time but going to continue with it also cutting suger and wheat out to see if that helps. Nothing off the docter has helped and are refusing to give antibiotic now saying it is facial pain even though keep getting mucas a nd infection! So glad I found this site with all the good comments so keeping everything crossed it works for me :) will keep you informed."
09/12/2012: Sailchoc from St. Clair Shores, Mi - Usa replies: "With all your health problems and being so young, I would suggest incorporating some raw foods into your diet. You can look it up on the internet."
09/26/2012: Clive from Johannesburg, South Africa replies: "This is in response to Gem from IL,

1.To clear the heaviness in the back of your head and neck, tie an onion poultice. (chop onions finey and tie in a cloth) Place or tie around your neck. After at least 4 hours it will help in clearing the congestion. This can be repeated as often as needed.

2.Dilute 1 teaspoons of ACV with 2 teaspoons of water. Place in microwave for 30 seconds and breath in deeply.

3.To completely elimate sinuses one must treat the cause not the effect. Try to cut out all wheat, barley and rye products from your diet. This will include bread, cakes, pasta etc. Rice, corn and soya are safe to eat. The reason is that wheat barley, oats and rye contain "gluten" which is like a rubbery protein that gives the bread etc its sponge. This protein can affect the small intestine in some individuals which interferes with the absorbtion of vital minerals into the body. I tried this diet for a few months and for the first time in my life I felt energetic and clear of my sinuses. Also you need to elimate diary products completely from your diet as doctors confirm that this adds to to secretion of mucus.

Heres to good health! Clive"

[YEA]  04/27/2012: George from Toronto, Ontario, Can: "Got a cold from my grandchild and it developed into yet another sinus infection. Woke up 4 mornings in a row with a pressure headache and yellow discharge. It was so bad I had to leave work early yesterday. I looked up natural remedies (hate taking antibiotics) and found some people swear by apple cider vinegar. This site helped the most. Wow! I have never seen anything work this well. Simply amazing.

I used 1 tbsp (or more) of raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized, apple cider vinegar with "mother" in a small glass of water every couple of hours. Found this at the health food store. I don't even know what "mother" is!

It is now 15 hours in - the headache is gone, I can breathe and my cold symptoms are disappearing. Note: I am also using chewable vitamin C tablets to supplement.

I had to share this with someone. I have suffered with this problem off and on for years. Deviated septum sometimes clogs up 1 side of my nose.

04/27/2012: Jennifer from Sunrise, Fl replies: "George, check out the "Tomato Tea" remedy on the EC site too - another fantastic EC remedy for sinus congestion! I did both the Tomato Tea and ACV and my horrible sinus infection went away in a record-setting 2-3 days. Couldn't believe it! Hope you feel better."
05/03/2012: Jaylene00 from Ft. Lauderdale, Fl replies: "Thanks for sharing this! Only raw organic apple cider vinegar has the "mother of vinegar" that makes the vinegar so beneficial. The "mother" is made up living nutrients and bacteria. You can actually see it settled in the bottom of the bottle like sediment."

04/19/2012: Pat from Lancaster, Ny: "I am on my second cup of ACV and HOT WATER... And The results are good for me. You can feel it cleaning your throat and breaking it up. I had my first cup 4 hours ago..... So far so good...1/2 cup H2o and 1/4 cup ACV."

[NAY]  04/19/2012: Norm from Menifee, Ca, Usa: "I tried the apple cider vinegar mixture and it helped some the first time, but after that no benefit. My doctor had me on Mucinex, 4 pills a day for ten days and Motrin for pain. I'm still not out of it, but it's better."

[YEA]  04/12/2012: Holly from Buffalo, Ny: "I have to say that like many others here, I was skeptical at best. I didn't think that the ACV in my fridge that I use for cooking could do anything for my sinus pressure. But, when I woke up this morning with severe head pain, jaw pain and no way to breathe, I was willing to try anything (except calling the doctor for antibiotics that would likely result in a yeast infection, another round of medication for that, and a following week of stomach upset and mood swings). At 4:30, I used my neti pot and got some serious results, but still felt the jaw pain and head pressure. So, at 6:30, I mixed 8oz of water, 2TBSP ACV, 2tsp purified honey (leftover in the cupboard from when the tike was an infant). I sipped it like a tea, and felt the effects about 20 minutes later. I started alternate nostril breathing, in on the good side, out on the clogged side, and it really got things going. Then I tried the ACV treatment again an hour later, and I can breathe clearly. My jaw pain is gone, with just a little stiffness left. My sinuses are clear and I feel amazing. I also did an oil pull in between the two ACV treatments, but don't think I swished long enough because the oil wasn't white when I spit. thank you to everyone who posted their amazing results."

[YEA]  04/18/2012: Geoff from Bakersfield, Ca replies: "After one month and countless over the counter and even my trusted herbal remedies, nothing broke my sinus as this did. Raw local honey is the key, but be sure not to mix when the tea mix is too hot, this can damage the healing properties of the honey. Better to take it at room temp before or after sipping the tea. Enjoy!"
10/26/2012: Anne from Asheboro, Nc, Usa replies: "I had a hard time downing the mix in 8 oz of water and found it much easier to use a shot glass with 2T ACV with mother and just enough hot water to melt the honey. So much easier to get down, because it was faster. Just don't do it right after brusing your teeth, so you don't harm the enamel."

[YEA]  04/10/2012: Sbkymberli from Santa Barbara, Ca, United States: "I must say I was fairly skeptical when I read about the Apple Cider Vinegar cure for an acute sinus infection. In all of my 48 years I had never once heard anyone mention this, but after feeling absolutely miserable for 3 straight days I was willing to try anything.

I see by the feedback it doesn't work for every individual, but it does work for the vast majority of people (185 out of 200) and I am very pleased to say that it worked wonderfully for me.

Within an hour of drinking a concoction of 8oz hot water; 2 tablespoons ACV; 1/2 packet of Instant Ginger Honey Crystals and 2 tablespoons of honey I noticed the pressure in my sinuses was greatly reduced. 30 minutes after that I could breathe clearly through my nose for the first time in 3 days and my headache was finally gone. Although I wasn't suffering any longer I opted to get up in the middle of the night and drink another glass. Afterward I slept soundly through the night and feel really good this morning. I have been blowing my nose all morning and as the cure stated the mix did thin out the mucus and is now coming out. Will bring enough to work with me today (yes, I feel good enough to work! ) and be sure to redose if I feel any sign of a relapse coming on.

Thank you so very much for this natural way to alleviate my pain. If I can avoid taking OTC or prescription medications I ALWAYS prefer the natural method."

[YEA]  04/03/2012: Lopez1775 from Orlando, Fl: "Thanks EC.. I read the post about 2 tbs of ACV 8 oz of water and some honey for my sinus infection. In minutes I felt the relieve of the sinus pressure in my head and ears. Thanks to all for the post. It saved me a trip to the doctor plus very expensive antibiotics."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  09/29/2012: Tiki Storm from Victoria, British Columbia replies: "(Better But Not Yet Cured). HELP!! I think I fall under that category, but honestly it is hard to tell. I've been trying to fight this current sinus infection for months now. It's a real drag and it is effecting my professional and personal life very negatively. I tried the AVC cure yesterday and honestly, but the end of the day things were a bit better. I had hope. Until I woke this morning with a horrible sinus migrane.

I am supposed to start a new job this week and can't bear to think how things will go if I have this kind of a distraction (the pain is so bad that it keeps me up most nights leading to very poor energy and focus throughout the working day). I am beginning to think this may be a fungal thing and I really don't know if ACV or anything else will kill it. I'm going to try to muster up the strength to go into town today to get the grapefruit seed extract and hopefully that gives me some relief. Any suggestions from the awesome members of this board would be greatly appreciated."

[NAY]  03/28/2012: Erik from Denver, Colorado: "My sinus infection must have been different from that of the 183 people who have said on this site that drinking apple cider vinegar cured their infection or helped somewhat.

I had had a bad sinus infection for less than a week when I tried drinking the ACV. I didn't notice anything different after I tried it. So I would say that drinking apple cider vinegar definitely did not help.

The next day, miserable, very sick and exhausted, I did what I should have done a few days earlier, namely, I went to a clinic and got a prescription for antibiotics. I paid $20.45 for a generic, 3-day, 500mg Z-Pack and 2 hours after taking the first one I felt remarkably better. Today is day 2 and I'm almost back to normal.

In my case, modern medicine was the right solution."

05/22/2012: Jamie from San Diego, California replies: "Took ten days worth of anti biotics. They helped at first but maybe they were not strong enough to kick the infection completely because I am starting to get a severe headache again and still spitting out yellow stuff. On my way to get some ACV and see if that will help."
08/25/2012: Dave from Seneca, Sc replies: "If the cider does not work for you try colloidal silver. Sniffed into the sinus cavity, the silver kills infections... Virus, bacteria and fungus. Silver has been used for thousands of years. I've used it for over ten years on a weekly basis. Never any skin tinting issue. I use the silver by simply sniffing into both sinus cavities and leaning head back as it drains down resisting the urge to cough. I do this twice within ten minutes. Use of an ear syringe is even better as you can gently squirt the silver further back into the sinus cavity that just sniffing. I squirt with head over sink and then slowly lean head back to let residue drain further into sinus cavity. I often will also squirt into ears so that between ear passages and sinus the eustacian tubes are also saturated. The whole head then is cleared of infection. Normally, just two applications will knock out a sinus or ear infection.

For really nasty infections, I have had to keep applying for a week or longer, twice or three times daily until finally the infection goes away. And the silver solution does keep the infection from getting into the lungs. If infection does get into lungs I use a steam producting machine and use the silver solution in the heated pan to give me silver in steam form and I breath deeply the mist three times daily. Ususally, the lung infection is gone in three days using this method."

[YEA]  03/16/2012: Gail from Ft. Myers, Florida: "I have about had it with this sinus infection/allergy problem for the past 2 weeks. The pollen count is so high in Florida right now, and I have never felt so miserable. I love when it rained, for only then did my symptoms subside. Unfortunately, it only rained twice in 2 weeks. Eyes are watering, throat itching, face hurts and swollen, continual nose blowing and ears hurt. It reached its high point today. I am allergic to antihystamines so my options are limited. I could go to an ENT doctor, but I already know he would prescribe a strong antibiotic, which my body does not handle well.

So I went to the computer for natural remedies. I Mixed 2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1 Tablespoon of honey in a cup of hot water along with one tea bag that contains ginger root and rooibos. (Good Earth Sweet & Spicy Red Tea). It is a soothing drink and not bad in taste. Amazingly, within 15 minutes my sinus' are clearing and I definitely can see an improvement. Thanks to all who posted this remedy. I think I will have another cup and then make a batch of it to have on hand for the next few days. I am looking forward to feeling normal again. Much appreciation to everyone. Have a wonderful day!!"

03/17/2012: Helen from Milwaukee, Wi replies: "I'd like to try the ACV for my sinus infection and hoping it will work for me. However, I read a book about eating according to your blood type and it suggests that people like me with A pos blood type should not ingest vinegar. I'm hoping that all of you who have had success with ACV for sinus trouble would be willing to share your blood type. It would, at least, make for interesting research."
[YEA]  04/16/2012: Katie from Daytona Beach, Fl replies: "I am also in Florida, we've had the roughest allergy season ever this year - most likely because of our mild winter. My son and I are both taking zyrtec in the am and claritin in the pm (our allergist said we could take them together). You can now buy them both generic, you can get about 3 months worth/90 pills for $20 at Walmart.

Please be careful with the antibiotics, my allergist prescribed me 28 days worth of them for my allergies and I got oral THRUSH oh, my, gosh - worst experience of my life. Very expensive to fix with top brand probiotics and I'm sure it will take a few months to get over, had to change my diet ugh and everything.

Anyway in addition to this, I've been drinking the _____s organic ACV (1 tbs) in organic carrot juice 1/2 glass, 2x a day. And it kills the fungus on my toungue for a few hours and since your drinking the stuff hopefully it's helping in my body somewhat as well with the probiotics.

Regardless, I mention this because I used to have to neti pot 2x a day intake because of my sinuses... Prior to the ACV but now NO post nasal drip!!! And we're still in the very heavy pollen season here in FL. Good luck everyone, I'm going to post in the thrush section as well..."

02/29/2012: Deborah from Phoenix, Az: "ok, I'm giving this a whirl; I've had sinus infections seems every year for the past decade... always had to get an antiobiotic to cure it, determined now to find a better way!"

[YEA]  02/13/2012: Rkrall from Irwin, Pa: "I have a had sinus infections off and for six years now. I had nasal surgery three years ago. It helped some of my problems but I still get the sinus infections at least three times a year. I have been on antibiotics for almost three weeks now. I felt somewhat better. Then the pain came back. I googled home remedies and found this site. I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar and honey. It has already helped. It's been twenty min. and a lot of the pressure in my face has stopped. I will try again in the morning. Thank you!"

[YEA]  01/04/2012: Atlantiswaites from Phoenix, Az, Usa: "I looked this up yesterday when my cold turned into a sinus infection. This is the third cold I've had in a month.

I purchased the ACV with the "mother" in it and also the grapefruit seed extract in pill form (it's combined with Oil of Oregano and also acidophilus) yesterday afternoon, took my first dosage then and a second right before going to bed... And the pain in my cheeks and teeth has already gone away!

Meanwhile, the mucus is continually running down the back of my throat now (which is both painful and disgusting) but you know what... It's well worth getting rid of that sinus pressure. I'm thinking I'll finish off the bottle of grapefruit seed extract (at a dosage of 2 pills 3x a day) along with the 2 tablespoons of ACV 3x a day and everything should be just great.

Afterwards, I fully intend to take my ACV at least once or twice a day to prevent any further issues!"

01/03/2012: Wiseman from Johannesburg, Gauteng South Africa: "Good day I just wonder if this will help me. I battle with blocked nose, sometimes the 1 side of my nose will be running non stop, then when I blow my nose yellow stuff comes out of my nose."

[YEA]  01/17/2012: Afton from Baltimore, Md, Usa replies: "Thanks for the ACV suggestions! It worked wonderfully! I battled sinus congestion for 2 weeks and was ready to go to the doc, but thought I would look for some home remedies first. I took 2 tbsp on ACV with 1 tbsp honey mixed into 8oz of warm water and chugged it down. It was fairly tart, but not so horrible and worked at relieving the pressure almost immediately! I took this again 6 hours later and one more time the following day. Super amazing and thanks again!"
[YEA]  01/21/2012: Laura from Denver, Co, Usa replies: "Wow, this worked wonderfully! I suffer from multiple sinus infections every winter (has been going on for a few years now), and my symptoms are always sore throat, fatigue, fever, lots of sneezing, congestion and that weird smell in my nose (imagine trying to get classwork done while you feel so yucky! ). After being on antibiotics almost constantly last year and completely messing up the bacterial balance in my body, which ended up making me even more sick, I put my foot down and decided this year to find a natural cure.

I did what many others here did and put 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar into 1 cup of hot water with about 1 tbsp of honey. My sinuses cleared right up- even my sore throat was gone! I will be taking more until I've gotten my sinuses completely cleared out, but it looks like this is the way to go. Thank you!"

01/26/2012: Sarah from Orwell, Oh replies: "How long did it take to clear up, I"m on hour 3 and no relief."

12/20/2011: Joel from Aliquippa, Pa,: "I came across this site earlier in the week, and I found lots of good information, especially about apple cider vinegar! It is working! 20 out of the past 30 days I have been on antibiotics, and now I am fighting off my sinus infection (albeit slowly, but still... I am making progress without antibiotics).

Here are the following ways I have been taking apple cider vinegar (about a total of 3 TBS a day):

1. Add 1 TBS of vinegar to a water bottle and sip all day.

2. Add 1 TBS of vinegar to steamed, chopped spinach.

3. Add 1 TBS of vinegar to a cup or two of steamed peas (this was a family favorite of ours growing up - for some reason peas and vinegar taste great together).

4. Take 1 TBS of vinegar as a tonic. You have to like vinegar (which I do) to tolerate this, although even I find it hard on my stomach when I do this.

5. Add 1 TBS vinegar to a fresh salad with dark greens.

I also have been drinking this tea at night and it has helped immensely with releasing sinus pressure and chest congestion before I go to sleep. It also has been helping my cough:

I boil all of this together. The cinnamon won't dissolve in the drink (it will collect on the bottom), but it really helps with the taste. This tea isn't bad tasting - I also would say it isn't the best tasting. But it is POTENT and has immediately effect for me. I think the ginger especially has been helping me mixed with the honey and vinegar.

I also have taken all dairy out of my diet for the time being as well as caffeine. I think it's making a difference."

03/27/2012: Alicia from Seattle, Wa replies: "The tea at night... One whole clove of what?"
03/28/2012: Starlogva from Orange, Va replies: "Alicia - Clove is a spice. It's a dried flower bud and can be found at the grocery store."
01/29/2013: Ginger from Westbrook, Ct replies: "This is my first time trying the ACV route to curing my sinue infections. Please tell me how to make ginger tea. Thanks."

[YEA]  12/18/2011: Mashley from Jackson, Mississippi, Usa : "Apple Cider Vinegar for sinus infections works like a charm. I was a complete non-believer but found myself a bit desprate as I am flying in 2 days and had a pretty good sinus infection going. Major symptoms included: running nose, clogged ears and tremendous pressure in my face. I filled a mug half way full of water and microwaved until hot. I then filled the rest of the cup with several tablespoons of Organic ACV. I added a bag of ginger/lemon tea, local honey and a strong pinch of ground ginger. After the first mug, the pressure in my face began to reduce. About an hour later, I had another mug and the pressure continued to subside. The tonic increased my runny nose and reduced some of the ear pressure. It was by no means a great but was improved. The next morning, I was shocked at how much better I felt. Again, I made the tonic 3 times that day seeing some improvement after each glass. The next day (today) I am feeling about 85% better. Only symptoms being tiredness and slight pressure in one ear. Overall, this is a wonderful way to get rid of a sinus infection quickly. I will add that I am taking a Z Pack but historically, they take 5 or 6 days to work (if it works at all... ). I feel very confident that the ACV is what pushed me back to health so quickly."

[YEA]  01/02/2012: Mcdanielak from Rochester, Washington replies: "I was an unbelieveable skeptic and I never believe things like this work, but I was desperate and I cannot believe it, but THIS WORKED. The taste is not the greatest, but if you are as desperate as I was, you won't care. After about 10-12 minutes my nose started running everywhere and then I blew my nose and loads of ICK came out, but I can breathe and the pressure and pain are gone. Who would have thought that 2 little tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar in a coffee mug of hot water would make such an immediate difference. Thank you, thank you, thank you. This cure is amazing and IT WORKS!!!!"
01/06/2012: Andrew K from Seattle, Wa replies: "It's a Miracle. I've been having the worst headaches for the last two days, where two Motrin IB pills do almost nothing to help, due to a cold and sinus infections. Out of desperation, I went to this web site and read about the ACV cure. I did not have ACV, but only some balsamic vinegar, which I mixed with a glass of water. My nose stopped running almost instantly and the temple crunching headache was gone in 10 minutes. I can't believe this, amazing. Thank you."
[YEA]  02/04/2012: Deborah from Coeur D Alene, Id replies: "Whenever I get sick I make a hot ginger lemonade. This time I added the ACV and I couldn't even taste it! Too soo to report any relief, but here is my lemonade recipe: 3 to 4 slices of fresh ginger, 1/4 of a large lemon and honey to taste. Simmer the ginger in water to taste (the more golden the infusion, the stronger the taste). Pour into a mug and add the lemon and honey to taste. Of course, I also added the ACV this time."
[YEA]  02/24/2012: Dawn from Phoenix, Az, Usa replies: "I made a mug of Chai Spiced tea with 2Tbsp ACV and Honey to taste. I can breathe AND smell for the first time in 3days!! I will definitely be using this concoction until this sinus infection is GONE! If anybody is like me, I lose my sense of taste and smell when I get these infections, so the ACV doesn't bother me at all."

[YEA]  12/05/2011: Amy from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada: "I am suffering from my second sinus infection. the first one I had was last year around this time (December) and got so bad that my face turned red and swollen and I had terrible head aches. I went on antibiotics and a saline spray the doctor recommended, and within a few weeks, it was gone, but the antibiotics killed all beneficial bacteria in my body as well, and a yeast infection followed. I woke up today with the beginnings of what feels like a second sinus infection.

I read about ACV and just tried it. I put 1 tbsp in an 8 oz glass of water. Although the taste wasn't pleasant, it's only been about 10 min and my sinuses already feel clearer, definitely something I would recommend for some instant relief. Thanks for all the suggestions!"

02/21/2012: Kevin from Conyers, Georgia, Usa replies: "Try adding in LOCAL HONEY. It has to be LOCAL or say LOCAL on it. Here is my recipe. 8 oz of hot water in a cup. 2 tbsp of ACV. 1 tbsp of local honey. - Usually completely cured in 2-3 days max. We have lots of trees out here with lots of pollen. It's not uncommon for us to get sinus infections and/or allergies."

[YEA]  12/04/2011: Lori from Westport, Ct: "I am a firm believer in the healing properties of Apple Cider Vinegar. I came down w/ a horrible sinus infection/laryngitis yesterday and today have been sipping on 2 Tb ACV and 16 oz water.... A miracle... What a relief! ~!!!!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  12/04/2011: Marian from Littleton, Co replies: "I have just spent a good portion of the evening reading posts from my fellow sinusitis suffers. I just came down with a cold, which is morphing into sinusitis. Not only did I just use ACV and local honey drink, I rinsed my mouth afterward with baking soda and water to neutralize the vinegar acid's negative effect in my tooth enamel. Also, I just mixed 2tbsp of _____s ACV in 12oz of water, warmed it slightly in the micro, and then used the solution in my Neti pot. It stung like the devil but afterward, my sinuses don't hurt quite so bad. Stay tuned!"

[YEA]  11/25/2011: Bob Bode from Frisco, Co: "I routinely use dilute apple cider vinegar/water solution for ear infections which freguently occur after swimming in pools. I recently started using it very successfully for sinus infections that occur with or without a cold. I taste the solution first. If it is very strong vinegar taste it probable will sting, so I dilute it more. (Bacteria do not like the acid in vinegar)"

[YEA]  11/23/2011: Sean from Bastrop, Texas : "I had been struggling with a very mild but disgusting sinus infection for 8 weeks. It came from a secondary infection after a viral cold. I'm lucky in that it barely bothered me (sticky yellow blob 2-3 times a day, breathe fine), but I couldn't get rid of it. I even took 10 days of antibiotics (thinking it would help) to no avail. I was skeptical (like always) when I saw this, but I went ahead and tried 1 teaspoon in some water. ONLY ONE TEASPOON ANNIHILATED MY INFECTION. It is the day after and I no longer have any discharge at all.

FOR ALL YOU SKEPTICS OUT THERE: You can rule out placebo, this really works, I took both this and anitbiotics truly believing each would work and this did!"

11/24/2011: Donna from Pinnacle, North Carolina replies: "Do I drink this or snort this? I'm a lil confused."
01/06/2012: Joyce from Joelton, Tennessee replies: "Donna, I have put ACV in boiling water & inhaled it, but these folks are talking about a tea, so it's a pretty sure bet that they are drinking it, not snorting it!"
[YEA]  05/10/2012: Roly from Miami, Fl replies: "I have had a sinus infection with a fever for 3 days now I tried everything I dont know this was just a coincidence but I started the tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar every few hours with water like said on this forum and a few hours later I feel great thank you!"

[YEA]  11/11/2011: Karen from Barrington, Rhode Island: "Okay, wow..... I tried the ACV cure and within 20 minutes, I feel better... I put 2 tbsp. of ACV and a few tsps. of honey in some hot water..... Doesn't taste so good, but 5 minutes of drinking that is soooo worth getting rid of the pressure in my head... This was my second sinus infection ever, and I have a feeling I am prone to them now as my mom said she gets them often..... Didn't want to go get the usual antibiotics, they throw my whole system off for weeks after I take them.

I definitely recommend the ACV cure... It thins the mucous AND kills the fungus that has caused the infection, great stuff..... I LOVE the internet... Thanx everyone..... TRY IT!"

11/16/2011: Dawn from Edmonton, Alberta replies: "I have tried everything. I am suffering from sinus pain, watery eyes and a running nose. Nothing works. I am going to try this."

[YEA]  11/09/2011: Nicola from Dublin, Ireland: "I've just ended my ever-lasting cold- it was on and off for over 3 weeks now, and I've had to take yesterday and today off work because my sinus had gotten so bad with a sinus infection that my eyes even hurt and I couldn't even think! I dread to take antibiotics as I was only on them 2 months ago for a bladder infection, so I found this website.

I drank a glass with the ACV and after 20 minutes my sinus started to clear! I was so excited because it's been blocked for the last 3 weeks! Then I added a teaspoon of ACV in with the salt in my sinus rinser water and did a rinse at lunch time and it scalded a little but it cleared me up completely!! I can't believe my nose is dry now after 3 weeks of utter misery!! I had spent so much money on over the counter things that worked for a while but wouldn't get rid of this anything like the 2.50 bottle of apple cider vinegar!!

I'm not completely better, but will continue with this treatment as it is working so well! Thank you!"

[YEA]  11/23/2011: Nicola from Wexford, Ireland replies: "I used this exact advice. I drank a tbsp in a glass of water and then I put a drop into my nasal irrigation bottle with the saline solution. And YES it did scald a little!! But it worked and it is worth a little scalding!! I'm amazed at the speed the ACV works, you can feel it working straight away, there's just no doubt about it that ACV cured my sinus!!"

[YEA]  11/07/2011: Bill from Merida, Mexico: "I had a sins infection 2 weeks ago, got the usual anti-biotics and was fine for a week and now it's back. I tried the neti pot and it worked great, just feels funny. So I surfed the net looking for something else. I came across this site and thought I'd give ACV a shot. Just made myself a cup before this post. I added the lemon and honey as suggested and it taste pretty good. I don't feel any effects yet but I'm only halfway through the cup. The neti pot cleared out my sinus cavity I just need to get the gook off the back of my throat........ Well my cup is done...... Still no effect.... Oh no wait... There it is, it's breaking it up a little. I will see what it does over the next couple of minutes... Thanks for your help."

04/16/2012: Tiffany from Seattle, Washington replies: "I have had sinus congestion on 1 side for YEARS now - I could not get rid of it. Here's what finally worked for me - adding honey to the apple cider vinegar drink!!!! I use a raw, organic honey that has a thick consistency. I take 1 tablespoon ACV & 1 tablespoon honey in 8 ounces filtered water 3 times a day. I was just drinking the ACV (the kind w/the "Mother" in it! ) and my sinuses were definetely better, but I could tell I still needed more help. I had been avoiding adding honey bc I feared that my sinus congestion could be fungal and I didn't want to "feed" the fungus w/sugar. About a week ago I added the honey - and bam! - my sinus congestion is GONE!! Crazy, but there really is something miraculous about this drink - adding these 2 ingredients together!! I also feel more energy, am losing weight, and I don't even notice my mild asthma anymore!! You have to try this combo - truely incredible!!"

[YEA]  11/02/2011: Yayamom3 from Kansas City, Mo: "Several years ago, I had probably my third or fourth sinus infection of the year on New Year's Eve. I researched homeopathic treatments online, and found the apple cider vinegar treatment. I did it, and it worked! After mentioning this to my doctor, she told me about apple cider vinegar tablets (drinking the stuff is disgusting! ). In addition to curing sinus infections, she said they would also prevent them and were just good for overall health. I have been taking one tablet a day ever since. I haven't had a sinus infection in five years!"

11/25/2011: Laura from Harrisburg, Pa replies: "Where did you purchase the apple cidar vinegar tablets?"

[YEA]  10/26/2011: Ron from New York: "OK... I have to be honest about my results on ACV.

I am a 51 year young man, I am in very good health and stay very fit (not obsessed) I just enjoy it. Since I was about 5 years old I suffered from constant sinus infections. Now I know it is not the worst thing , it can be very painful and debilitating, and can worsen and if it happens at the same time you get a cold or the flu.... You feel like you are on your way to the cemetary. Right before I went to Aruba last month I picked up a sinus infection and I was MISERABLE. Snorkeling and diving was awful due to the water pressure... Vacation ruined?

As I sat on the beach holding my head and looking pretty miserable, one of the housekeepers asked me what was wrong and I explained. She said go to the market and get Apple Cider Vinegar and put it into a coffee cup 2-3 tablespoons.... She said breathe it in through your nose then take a sip until you finish. At this point in my life I was tired of the antibiotics and their wonderful side effects.

So I did what she advised and I said to myself "this is silly" But within 8-10 minutes my nose ran like crazy for a few minutes, I sneezed a few times... But that awful throbbing pain, itchiness and stuffiness was gone

It was kind of creepy... But I was giddy with my new found success... I could not thank this woman enough. I gave her a Amex Gift card...

She also recommended fresh ginger, but warned me that too much can cause indigestion. I will stick to Apple Cider Vinegar."

[YEA]  10/04/2011: Jvanderwerken from Bellevue, Ne: "All I can say is wow! I really didn't think this would work. I had a really bad sinus infection and after 2 weeks of it, went to the doctor. I got an injection of antihistimines and 10 days of antibiotics. I felt better after the 10 days, but it came back the next week. I didn't want to go back to the doctor and do more antibiotics, so I searched for a natural remedy.

Found apple cider vinegar on this site. After the first glass of ACV and honey, I felt really tired and went to bed. When I got up, I could breathe much better. The green stuff I was coughing up was much lighter. I had another glass after lunch. Within a few minutes I was feeling even better and the mucus had turned almost clear. By that evening, I was even better and could breathe just fine and was not coughing, no headache. This stuff has worked a miracle in me. I am hooked! If you have a sinus infection, it is definitely worth a try!"

[YEA]  04/04/2012: Jay from Vidalia, Ga replies: "I am a total skeptic by nature, but the numerous responses here to ACV for a sinus infection made me say Hmmmm....

Well, it did away with my obvious sinus infection...
For 2-3 days, twice a day, I did stove-hot water with ACV & local honey, sipping the cup for 15 minutes or so.... I also added cayenne & garlic.

No more green gunk from my nose, no more sinus pain & pressure, etc. Yeah this really works.... sign me up for the commercial."

09/24/2011: Bcb from Traverse City, Mi: "I have struggled with sinus infections for the past 7 winters. The winter of 2010 I was sick with colds-turned into sinus infections from January to April 25, when I began having unbearably awful back pain. After 13 days of extremely intense and excrutiating pain, I went to emergency and discovered I had shingles, due to a totally wiped out immune system from being on antibiotics for the sinus infections for the past 6 years. Last winter (2011) I had two sinus infections, with accompaning antibiotics and in May I was diagnosed with Candida.... An entire body yeast infection, with itchy pustule eruptions all over my body, again due to the antibiotics destroying my immune system. I have discovered that sugar suppresses the immune system, so I cut out all overt sugar from my diet, but not when it is in foods like cottage cheese, yogurt, bread, etc. Just the coffee cream, the candy and dessert type foods. I also bought a 3 month supply of Threelac, a probiotic with a punch, and Candex to break down the yeast wall so it can be killed. I haven't had any eruptions in three months, even when I have had some cake and ice cream for birthdays. However, I ended up getting another sinus infection because of a birthday yesterday, and not wanting to compromise my immune system any further, I decided to look for a natural remedy for it, and therefore found this site.

I should have read the testimonials first, because I put 2 TBS of ACV in 8 oz. of water and swallowed it, not liking the burn in my throat and thinking I won't do this again. But I see that honey and lemon or stevia can be added to it without diminishing the results, and since I can't do honey because it causes yeast to grow, I will use Stevia next time. As I have been writing this, I have noticed that I have no drainage down the back of my throat. I never got any sinus pain with any of my infections and therefore was hard to diagnose at first. I just get a stuffy nose and bucket loads of drainage and feel like I've been run over by a Mac truck... No energy, no joy, no anything. I just want to sit at home and hibernate. I'm am hopeful that this will work and I will never have to take another antibiotic.

I see that Oregano Oil and Grapeseed Extract can also be taken to help fight these infections. Can anyone tell me how much should be taken and how often?

As I'm sitting here, I'm feeling a slight pain in my neck and something funny in my forehead area, so I believe that the AVC is working. Hallelujah!! I am forever grateful to whoever discovered this remedy. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!"

10/03/2011: Jdecarlo from Miami, Fl, Usa replies: "Hallelujah! This remedy works. I prefer not to put it in coffee, though. Warm water or ice water with two tablespoons of ACV and stevia clearned up my sinus infection, the pain is gone and I'm going back to work. Thanks to everyone on this site. =)"

[YEA]  09/11/2011: Clair from Burlington, Ia: "I get sinus infectoin all the time, and yet only 14! I started getting it probably 2-3 years ago.. And I've probably had 13ish times. Well, when it gets close to fall, about now in Iowa(:, my dad always buys apple cider. I also just got off medication for a sinus infection about a week ago. Yesterday and last night I felt it coming on again my snot changes to almost a dark yellow brown color, and as soon as I blow my nose it immediately closes back up. So anyways I had a glass this morning with my breakfast and my nose got majorly better! ... So I had another glass and the results were better! So being a curious one, I googled sinus infection remedies and waaalaaw! Apple cider is one! I have like no claug at all! So anyone reading this pllleeeaaassseee give it a try! :) Haha what a wonderful day!!!"

03/22/2012: Delila from Tel Aviv, Israel replies: "After using all the treatments for sinuses, including Apple Cider Vinegar and Apple Cider Vinegar with steam and nothing seems to help consider reading up on systematic candida, with tons and tons of symptoms including foggy head and headaches!!! And by the way sugar and antibiotics aggravate the condition makes it ten times worse!!!!"

[YEA]  08/13/2011: Shawna from Wakeman, Ohio, Usa: "I have spent the past hour reading through testimonials and directions on your site. I started having terrible sinus pain yesterday, so much that the pain was waking me up throughout the night. I used my sinus rinse but to no avail. So I thought I may as well try the ACV. Holy moly! I heated a coffee cup full of water, added 2 TBSP of ACV and a bit of honey. Halfway through the cup (sipping... Not a bit fan of the taste of vinegar! ) I could literally FEEL the gunk in my sinuses loosening up. I cannot believe how fast this works. I read many of the testimonials on ACV/sinuses but thought it really could not work that quickly.... I admit, I was wrong! I am absolutely and undoubtedly a believer.... Off to finish the rest of my cup :)

09/07/2011: Fit Chica from Redondo Beach, Ca replies: "Just finished reading the post that ACV w/hot water, lemon & honey works to clear up a sinus infection. So, since I have one and I feel like crap, I decided to try it. It's 5:40pm 2 mins after my first sips... I love the taste of ACV. I must admit, I feel a little less congested. I took 8 oz water and put in the microwave mixed it with 2 TBSP ACV, 1 pkt stevia & a few squeezes of fresh lemon. I'm wondering if 1 tsp of cayenne pepper would speed the process up... ? Will definitely have to try with the pepper and let you all know."

[YEA]  07/24/2011: Carmen from Fair Oaks, Ca: "I am typing while drinking. I am Soooo desperate for this to work. I told my friends, that could hardly understand me as I sound so pathetic, I feel like one of those cartoon characters where they are runing around screaming and the head explodes! My eyes hurt so bad I just wanted to cry all night (pause, sip) On antibiotics and mucinix and saline and vicodine so far the best I got was an occasional feeling of maybe air, but mouth breathing is my only surviaval... Sip.... Ok OMG left side just opened! Although right is my worst side. My recipe is actually very yummy and I HATE ACV I put 2 tbs ACV 1 heaping tbs honey and a decent splash of lemon juice in a coffe cup and heated in m/w. sip again!! I am not kidding, this email has taken about 5 mins and I feel relief! Pain in right eye still severe, but definitely a big difference. Put it this way, I am in sales and I could not talk on phone as it was disgusting, I would pick up phone now. Try it. Lemon truly made a huge difference and it actually tastes good!!!"

[YEA]  07/29/2011: Dln from Forty Fort, Pa replies: "I have been suffering from a severe sinus infection for about 3 weeks, the most painful I have ever had. The sinus infection grew out of an infected gumline and tooth, which I did not know was infected until the dentist told me so. The tooth infection was around the root, 4th tooth from the back on the upper right jaw. Well, the dentist put me on clindmyacin and vicodin extra strength. The clindamyacin did absolutely nothing to the infection, waste of time taking the pills. Oh, the dentist also sent me to a dental specialist, who was able to determine the location of the infection and the fact that it had gotten into the tooth nerve, so I had a root canal done on the tooth two days ago, I was nervous abou the root canal, but the dentist was a miracle worker - not pain during the procedure and no tooth pain since.

The sinus infection is still raging though. The 2nd dentist put me on a Z Pak for the infection, not sure if it is working or not, as I am still getting the extreme pressure and pain in the right side sinus.

Tonight, my wife bought me a neti pot and I used it as soon as she got home, I was in the midst of a really bad episode of pain and pressure. Well, the neti pot reduced the pressure and pain - from 10 to a 6. So I loaded up on some sudafed and benadryl, too a vicodin too. Then the pain and pressure started coming back so I jumped online looking for a natural home remedy since the OTC crap was not working.

Just happened to find this site and I read the first 4 pages of "Cure a sinus infection" So, what the hell, since I was in enough pain to wish that Mr Death would come and knock on the front door, I decided to try the ACV remedy. I did the modified version - 2 tbsp of ACV, 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 1 tbsp of wild flower honey - mixed them up in a coffee cup and drank it down in 3 gulps - not too bad tasting at all. It was like a miracle, 4 minutes later the pressure started to go down and the pain right along with it. In 15 minutes I would say the sinus inflamation had been reduced by 50 percent and I could breath thru my right nostril. So, just so you know, I am one of those people that has any patience and if one cup of the ACV mixture did this well, a 2nd cup of the same mixture couldn't hurt - LOL So 25 minutes after the first cup went down I drank the 2nd.... 10 minutes later I was feeling a bunch of pain again, but this was different than the sinus pressure, like an opposite pain... It was the pain of my sinus's - both sides of my head, and all the sinus cavities at the same time.... They were shrinking.... Too quickly... And it hurt like hell..... Well 10 more minutes and the pain and pressure are both gone and I am breating freely. So, if you read this and are going to try the ACV mixture I listed above.... Take my advice, do not drink 2 doses within 30 minutes of each other... It works great but it hurts!!!!

Just a couple of other items about my sinus infection. I have had very similar episode 6 times before, with uncommon symptoms: no nasal discharge - none; no drainage into my throat when sleeping; hours upon hours of no pain or pressure at all - completely normal feeling, then all of a sudden the pain and pressure come on like a freight train going 100 mph. The pain brings tears and crying - I am a 41 yr old man with a very high threshold for pain, but this is an evil kind of pain - and the pressure is unbelievable - feels like the right side of my head is going to actually burst open and my right eyeball feels like it is being pushed out of its socket!!!!

Since a lot of folks on this site seem to know more about sinus infections than I do, I have a couple questions to ask.

1) Is it common for a sinus infection to stay on only one side of the head?

2) Is it common to not have any nasal discharge at all?

3) What causes the sinus pressure and pain to be absent for up to 14 hrs and then all of a sudden flare up with a vengence?

Well, that is enough for now. I would like to thank everyone for sharing their experiences as I have already benefitted greatly with the ACV remedy!!! For those that will read this posting, try the ACV remedy.... It worked extremely quickly for me!!! "

07/30/2011: Diane from Margaret River, Wa, Australia replies: "Try using Hair Combs or as I do, use Hair Comb Slides. With teeth from combs slighty pressed on fingertips [pressure points] keep this up for 15 minutes a day for 2 Months and you will have no more Sinus problems. But I still continue with this at least twice a week to make sure it never returns."

[YEA]  08/06/2011: Mitch from Dover, Ma replies: "I found this thread after 2 weeks of an on again off again cold that eventually became a sinus infection. I have used the neti pot with salt water in the past with good results especially if I catch it early, but this time the sinus infection seemed to hang on longer. I drank apple cider vinegar with honey and hot water yesterday and like others wrote the stuffiness seemed to clear in about 15 minutes. It did come back somewhat later in the day and I had another round of the drink. The next day (today), my symptoms are barely there. AMAZING! I am definitely a believer and am very happy not to go the antibiotics route - which has worked but then my GI tract gets messed up for weeks. ACV!! Thanks for this website!"
[WORKED TEMPORARILY]  08/16/2011: Dln from Forty Fort, Pa replies: "Thought I would drop by and give an update on my situation. Well, the ACV stopped working after 5 days, no effect whatsoever any more. Maybe the body builds a tolerance, or the infection does, but whatever happened, it does nothing now.

So I gave in and went to the ENT, same Doctor I saw 10 years ago for the same thing. He remembered me right away. After talking for a few minutes, he brought the super spray - in a little glass bottle attached to a air pump - whatever that stuff is, it is absolutely amazing - 1 spray and the sinus immediately starts to open, wait for a minute or so, 2nd spray and all 4 sinuses are about 50% or 60% open, wait another minute and 3rd spray - all 4 sinuses are now 100% open, pressure is completely gone. The ENT was very surprised that there was no drainage of any kind. He had me snort and spit a number of times, but nothing out of the ordinary, just plain spit - so he gave me a 4th spray on the right side a single spray on the left side - waited about 30 seconds - more snorting and spitting - still no discharge. He was kind of stumped at this point. All symptoms point to an infection in the right side sinuses only. He check my right ear, checked my throat - no problems found. He then looked up my nose and other than the right sinus being overly red - from a month of netipot, nasal sprays, saline irrigation sprays - he saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Well, he scratched his head a couple times and remembered one other case like me about 15 years ago. He said all the symptoms lead to a sinus infection but he could never get a sample of the infection in spit or nasal mucus. He kept put that patient on predisone and antibiotics - took a couple rounds, but eventually it worked.

So, he put me on Avelox, predisone and more vicadins. He also recommened the Ocean nasal spary in the can. So I started the regimine of pills - finished them off this past Friday - in the 10 days I had 4 very good days - no pain or pressure, but last Thursday I had a horrible night, pain and pressure for 15 hrs straight - and then Friday afternoon, everything opened up, pain and pressure went away and I thought, prematurely, that it was all over for good. Sat morning was pretty good, then by 4 in the afternoon it was back with a vengence, but I was able to knocked it back with a few sudafed. Yesterday, Sunday, sucked bad - spent most of the day in bed and then it cleared up for a couple hours and then came back last night around 11 pm. Took a couple hrs to get it to subside - hot shower for 15 minutes, nasal spray, sudafed and allegra. This morning I could feel it, like a nagging throb, but it was fine until around 3 pm - then it hit again, hard, and it stayed painful until 6:30 pm and just went away. Came back a little about 9 pm, so I took 1 - 100mg GSE tablet, and a couple sudafed - seemed ok until about 30 minutes ago - so back to the neosynephryn - 3 sprays and everything is wide open for now. So hopefully the GSE will start to do something.

Have another visit with the ENT this Thursday - will get a CT scan this week as well, hopefully something will show up that will help the Doctor figure out what is going on.

The pain and pressure, reoccuring when it wants to, with no trigger that I can narrow down - not any specific food or food group, or smoking or lack of smoking, outside, inside, in the car, in a resturant, movie theater, grocery store - so I am basically at a loss, just like before.

This has become very depressing and is weighing very heavily on my emotional state. One minute I am perfectly fine - and the next I am feeling my skull is going to explode - the pressure is so bad that when I used the cayene nasal spray, the tears coming from my right eye actually tasted like cayene pepper - and my eye burned like hell until I washed it out.

Will update in a week or two, hopefully the next time will have a more positive update."

08/27/2011: Dln from Forty Fort, Pa replies: "This will probably be my last update as the sinus infection is on its last legs - finger crossedXXX.

I did start the ACV again, and once again it worked on a limited basis. It worked right away the first time I took it - same mixture I used before - 2 tbsp of ACV, 1 tbsp of lemon juice and 1 tbsp of wild flower honey. But the longer I used it the effectiveness wore off. I got about 4 days of usefullness out of it, then it did nothing to relieve the pressure any longer.

So I did some more research and had another visit to the ENT and think I have found a combination of vitamins, OTC and prescription drugs, and home remedies that seems to have finally led me to a viable solution to a dry sinus infection.

Here is the list of stuff I have used since my last update to get to the point of 90% cured.

1. Avelox antibiotic - not as harsh on the system as some antibiotics.

2. 500 mg of Vitamin C chewable tablet, 4 to 8 a day.

3. 400 mg of Acai berry extract a day

4. Predisone - to reduce inflamation and promote sinus drainage

5. 400 mg guaifenesin tablets - up to 2,400 mg a day - this was the missing part of all my previous attempts - the ENT agreed this can be very helpful in certain cases. It thins mucus, not only in the lungs, but all mucus and I was finally able to get drainage out of my sinus. I did not get any of the colored mucus as drainage, but I can feel the sinus drain into the back of my throat and the pressure just disappears within 15 to 20 minutes of taking the tablets. I chase the pills down with a softdrink containing caffein to speed the process along.

6. 1/8 tsp Sea salt - dissolved with saliva in your mouth, then swallowed and chased down with a 8 to 12 oz glass of water - do this a couple times a day, say morning, mid-day and evening. This sounds crazy, but it works wonders. Details and testimonials can be found at "Watercure2. Org". Some of the claims and testimonials do seem to stretch reality a little, but, I can honestly say this works, at least for me. No increase in bloodpressure, no serious side effects, unless you consider clear urine a bad thing - LOL I think this helps with the sinuses because it increases the volume of water/salt in the body, which increases the mucus, but thins it, along with the guaifenesin. It is like doing the neti pot on an internal level.

Like I said above, I am not 100%, still get a small flareup every other day or so, like tonight, but it is easily shut down by 400 mg tablet of guaifenesin and taking the 1/8 tsp of sea salt and the glass of water. Takes about 20 minutes and the pressure goes away, the sinuses and nasal passage feels soothed, probably from the increase in thin mucus, and air flow thru the nose is increased. If you lay down at the 30 minute mark, you will feel the drainage in your throat. It is not an excessive amount to cause gagging, but more of a dripping/leakage feeling as the mucus just kind of slides down your throat, but there is no irritation associated, and no sore throat the next day.

I really think it is the combination of sea salt and guaifensin that is making the difference. Any sinus infection needs to drain, and the thinner you can make the mucus the better off you will be. My ENT thought I might have a partially plugged sinus and was thinking surgery if it does not get better. Well, the hell with surgery. I don't care if the sinus drain hole is 1mm in size, I will thin the mucus until it gets out of the hole. I am not going to have surgery, period!!!

I am hoping that in another week I will be back at 100% and this will all just be a bad memory. I wish my fellow sinus sufferers the best of luck. What seems to be working for me may not work for you, but don't give up hope. Keep trying different and varied things, different combinations of remedies, you will eventually find something that works."

12/27/2011: Gail from Charlottetown, Pei, Canada replies: "I had persistent sinus infections for years, each episode getting a little worse until it got really bad. Started going to a naturopath for another problem (candida), and when I took grains and dairy out of my diet, sinus problems went away.

It is now 2 days post-Christmas... Over the period of the last month, eating some of my forbidden foods has once again presented me with a sinus infection. Am using ACV and oil of oregano... Seems to be working for all except the chills-- broke down and took a Tylenol a few minutes ago. Planning to have a detox bath later this evening (contains epsom salts, baking soda and ACV) just before bedtime and hope that it will give me a good night's sleep. The health food store where I purchased the oil of oregano also suggested probiotics two hours after taking and ACV or oil of oregano. Apparently the oil of oregano will kill the good bacteria as well as the bad."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  07/01/2011: Tec from Frederick, Md: "I came to this sight as I've had a sinus infection for three weeks now and 10 days of antibiotics didn't help (drat! ). Still sick and need to be well! I did the steam with ACV and it did work well for me and cleared my head. Today, I'm trying the ACV to drink. I made an 8 oz mug of tea, mixed 2 TBSP of ACV and a little honey (apple tea) - it really seemed to clear my head about five minutes after I drank it. It didn't clear it completely, but I could feel my pressure being relieved just a little. I'm going to keep trying this method and see if maybe it will work... so far so good."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  07/20/2011: Yogagirl from Texas, Dallas, United States replies: "Hi all! I have looked over the ACV thread many times in desperation during my NUMEROUS chronic sinus infections. I always have given in and ran to the drs thinking that all of this homeopathic stuff was for nutty people. Well, count me in the nutty pile now!!!! And so happy to be here! I finally said ENOUGH! When you've learned your lesson and gone to the Dr.time after time taking antibiotic after antibiotic, spray after spray, from Z-Pacs to the dreaded (for me anyway I'm allergic augmentin) and you get about three weeks if that of happiness and a faux feeling of being 'cured'-ahem-cough cough. Something is NOT right!

So, I went straight down to my local health food store and purchased a inexpensive bottle-lg. by the way of Organic ACV-which doesn't taste bad to me for some odd reason and picked up LOCAL honey to aid in preventing my allergies after educating myself on chronic sinusitis, Started using my neti pot daily and I am committed to taking measures into my own hands. If I have to rely on some OTC remedies occasionally then so be it but from now on my diet is changing and my preventitive sinus and allergy health care is as well. Back to basics.

The first night I tried it I woke up the next day and was so shocked I could breathe and my pain level decreased from a literal-NO JOKING HERE-ten to a three!!!!!! The next day was better. But I am also using clear rinse sinus rinse every thirty minutes in each nostril-you can google that-no I don't sell it. It's kind of an experiment because there was some big AD on YT about another product like it twice the price that is supposed to kill the bacteria if used every thirty minutes for about three days to a week. Same darn ingredients. I am sorry it's called Ocean I got it at CVS. It is really taking the sinus pain away. I was in so much pain that I almost went to an emergency room for pain without health insurance. The local honey my landlord told me about makes sense because that would-it seems where ever you live, build up your immune system to fight against pollens etc.

Good luck guys-allergies and sinus pain is awful it has shut down my social life I literally haven't ecercised or dated in a year. Wish me luck! Much luv!!!"

08/15/2011: Debbo from Dallas, Texas replies: "Yogagirl I am right there with you! I am absolutely miserable! I am trying ACV for the first time and I believe it is helping. I have been on 4 months of antibiotics and steroids for my Sinusitis. I now have to get surgery (which I hate) but nothing has been able to help me. I am from Dallas too and I swear Texas is the worst place for allergies. I am allergic to everything in the state of Texas except for fire ants. Yay. My social and dating life is nonexistent and hasn't been for over a year. I physically cannot exercise due to the fatigue and exhaustion the sinus infections have on me. I don't know if you have tried an ACV detox bath but I have done that before and it worked amazing, but then the pain came back so hopefully this combo will get me through the next couple of weeks till surgery! It is comforting to know that I am not the only one going through this. Makes me feel less crazy! Hope everything is working out for you and life is getting back to normal! Wishing you luck!"

[YEA]  06/13/2011: Shiverling from Mackay, Queensland, Australia: "Last week, after having bad pain in one sinus(maxillary) and green disharge, I thought that only a trip to the doctor and antibiotics would sort this out. But I read everyone's tips here on apple cider vinegar and decided to try it (with scepticism). After sniffing the steam of hot half apple cider vinegar and water, the next morning I woke to no pain and only a slight clear discharge and have been better now for days. These home remedies here are worth their weight in gold and I'll be happy to hang around and hear even more :)."

06/13/2011: Jen from Irvine, Ca replies: "Wow, I just saw this posting. I have antibiotics, nasal spray and an inhaler. I've had a cough for weeks and I had a migraine from the sinus congestion... Now full blown infection. I'm excited to try this home remedy! Thanks for the posting and feedback on this!"
06/14/2011: Shiverling from Mackay, Qld, Australia replies: "I hope that it works for you too Jen, please let me know how you go with this :)

It wasn't the nicest thing to do-sniffing such a strong-smelling concoction and the steam left a little burning sensation in my nose, but I was able to blow out so much gunk afterwards. Now I'm also trying other remedies for better health including eating 1 or 2 cloves of raw garlic each day & have also started oil-pulling.

After being so fatigued over the years(no energy & need at least 9-12 hours of sleep per day just to function), this morning I woke at 6. 30am, got the kids ready & off to school, myself off to work and I felt so energetic.. Am hoping that this isn't a fluke(or placebo effect), that perhaps these remedies are doing something for my constant tiredness."

[YEA]  04/15/2011: Sheila from San Diego, Ca, Usa: "Six months ago I had a sinus infection with flu-like symptoms. I used the standard apple cider vinegar (ACV)-water mixture to dose myself for relief. It helped me considerably, and cut the progress of the infection and flu short. I whole-heartedly believe that the ACV did the trick. My sinuses were clearing up and the mucus thinned so that my breathing was easy and not painful.

I also believe the ACV 'kick-started' my menstrual cycle at the same time I was sick with the sinus infection -- I was miserable, but thankfully not for long, and the ACV helped with reducing the usual menstrual symptoms I had suffered in the past; missed cycles, heavy flow, cramping, bloating, achiness, grouchiness.

After that month, 6 months ago, I haven't had a sinus infection. There was a time I felt an inkling of an infection coming on, and one dose of ACV did the trick, no onset of infection. Six months ago was also the last time I had a menstrual cycle -- thought I was going premenopausal since I'm only in my early 40s, also, I developed a chalazion (doctor confirmed) on my lower eyelash line a few weeks after I recovered from my sinus infection, and stopping use of ACV. The chalazion has been with me ever since.

Since developing the chalazion, I've used a rue fennel eyewash, tea compresses, Similsan eye drops; nothing worked, until I searched on Earthclinic for a remedy -- castor oil. (I also have pingueculae on both of my eyes, started about 7 years ago after lasik surgery and dryness.)

Geez, I sound like a mess, don't I?

When I read more on castor oil for my chalazion, I crossed my fingers hoping for more benefits, like ridding myself of the pingueculae.

Now, after starting ACV again, but for maintenance purposes (I read D. C. Jarvis's "Folk Medicine"), my period miraculously re-started and my chalazion has shrunk down, and my eye is looking more normal. I was using castor oil with a warm compress or a steam on the chalazion for about 15 days prior to starting ACV. I did see results from the castor oil on my chalazion, but I think with using both the ACV and castor oil, they speeded up healing the chalazion.

My benefits from ACV and Earthclinic are three-fold: a remedy for sinus infection/flu; menstrual symptom relief (and re-start); reduction to almost no chalazion! I'm going to keep going with a one-dose-a-day of ACV to keep my menstruation cycle regular, but for now continue the ACV and castor oil treatment to see if I can completely heal the chalazion. I will update this when the chalazion is gone.

(Oh yes! Can't forget: the castor oil has given me the best nights' (plural) sleep in a very long time.)

12/18/2011: Evelyn from Riverside, Ri replies: "I was down all week with what the doctor said was a sinus infection (terrible pain all over my head and in my face and eyes, so bad it made me vomit) all week. He gave me azithromycin, which gave me some really uncomfortable body aches. I'm a firm believer in natural medicine, but because this thing was so nasty and because the course was only three pills, I took the antibiotic. I've been reading all the great posts on ACV and am sipping some right now in hot water and honey to make sure this thing doesn't come back. I don't mind the taste, though I worry about the effect on tooth enamel, so a few months ago when using the ACV for something else, I bought some glass straws (if the ACV can eat tooth enamel, I don't know what it'll do to a plastic straw) and will just rinse with water. I used to make salad dressing out of ACV - guess I'll start doing that again too. I might even try a little in my neti pot just to make sure! Just as an aside - cold pressed castor oil - not the one you buy in the drug store for constipation, but the one mentioned here used to heal the eye problem, should NEVER be taken internally, so please don't do that. This type of castor oil is for external use only, and it says so on the bottle. I will tell you that when my son was little, he used to get a chalazion-like thing on his upper eyelid, and I would saturate a four-fold piece of clean, white flannel soaked in warmed castor oil and keep it over his eye for a few hours off and on over a couple of days. When taking it off, I soaked his eye with warm water. Within two days the infection drained and was always better. That stuff is great too."

[YEA]  04/07/2011: Robert from Escondido, California Us: "I have suffered from sinus problems for 25 years. Cannot even take any medication for relief. Had allergy shots for 1 1/2 years. No relief. I bought 5 allegra tablets and took 2. Could not stand the side affects. Out of desperation I asked the internet and found Apple Cider Vinegar as a possible cure. I went to the store and got Apple Cider Vinegar and honey. Went home and mixed it up. I no longer feel I am going to choke and die in the morning. I am 54 and it was just getting worse. My third day and I feel great. I can breath through my nose again and have a lot more energy and sleep good at night and wake up with clear unconjested sinus's.

Also use to suffer from canker sores 45 years. The internet saved me again. After suffering with canker sores that would sap my energy and cause severe pain and loss of appetite due to the pain while eating. Well this is what has cured me toms tooth paste that is SLS free. They put detergrant in toothpaste and this aggravated any injuries to your mouth and would cause canker sores. I would get at least 15 to 25 a year. They would be tough ones and last 7 to 10 days and hurt. Lot of pain that I do not experience any more. I still get about 2 a year but I notice them and they are gone without any pain. They heal fast and I can eat without pain and they no longer bother me. They heal as fast as I notice them. I have not had 1 yet that has caused me discomfort. 3 years I have used tom's non SLS free toothpaste. just like apple cider vinager it works. "

[YEA]  06/15/2011: Dave from Earlton, Ontario Canada replies: "Unreal, My wife gets bad sinis bowts twice a year. Each year she goes to the doctors and they give her pills and crap that take weeks to get rid of it.

This time it was really bad , she had swollon noise, sore eyes, and a headace that made her cry, so I said enough of these doctors. I came on this site and found the ACV directions and had her try it.

Within 10 minuets she started to feel a little better, and 24hrs later she is almost back to normal and feels great. I dont know if it works for everybody but I, ll tell ya its worth a try.

Thanks alot and keep up the good work.

Your friend Dave"

03/21/2011: Amy from Clemmons, Nc: "Was wondering if anyone knows if this is ok to do while pregnant? I am 10 weeks and I don't want to take any meds. So scared for the baby."

03/22/2011: Marla from Atlanta, Georgia, Usa replies: "Not only is it okay to take apple cider vinegar while pregnant, it's an excellent idea, as it creates a healthier environment for growing a baby. Dilute! You may want to skip honey during pregnancy and breastfeeding, due to the (very, very small but real) risk of botulism. Try molasses or stevia instead."
07/13/2011: Andrea from Odessa, Tx replies: "are we supposed to boil equal parts Apple Cider Vinegar and h2o and enhale"

[YEA]  03/20/2011: Wendy from Ontario, Canada: "I just wanted to say the ACV made me breathe easier within 2-3 minutes... Totally amazing! Now I just need to keep it on the counter so I remember to take it every day 3x a day!

I did want to mention that I do get sinus infections and they started when we moved into our house- we suspect mold but are afraid to rip open the walls until we can do any removal properly. That was 9 years ago. We ripped up the carpets 7 years ago because my daughter coughed on and off for 3 months. (she is doing it again now despite every holistic remedy in the book) I get about 1 or more sinus infections a year but always after a cold.... the whole shebang, teeth, cheek bones, head pain you name it.

Anyhow, I wanted to mention that I don't consume milk of any kind, yogurt or cheese, and haven't eaten ice cream in over 15 years LOL I also don't have air conditioning in my house and it broke in my car years ago- it makes me feel yukky and tired too so I don't like it on. I live on 100 acres secluded and our woodstove is now OUTSIDE... although we do live 2 km from a 4 lane highway.

We eat a holistic allergy free diet (no wheat, gluten, dairy, soy, corn, refined sugar) and we sprout, eat high raw foods, grow and juice wheatgrass etc.

From what I have read about mold... sounds like that could be the root cause of most peoples sinus issues and can stay in the sinuses for years.

My girlfriend has 4 children. In their old house (where they did have to deal with mold and mice) they had a horrible time. The kids were always seeming to get sick, her one son was snoring and a mouth breather, lots of coughing, she has seasonal allergies etc. Since they moved to their new house they are doing wayyyy better!!! |Wish I could do the same!

I do however look forward to moving out of our house in a few weeks and into our trailer to see if I no longer wake up stuffy and brain fogged in the morning and hopefully this head cold will be gone by then!"

05/02/2011: L. from Private replies: "Glad you mentioned the mold issue in your house. I never had sinus issues like this till I moved into this Apartment 4 years ago, and I know there is mold and mildew on the insides of the walls since I had a broken pipe, and they had to open up the walls. I wonder how many people have sinus issues due to mold , mildew or other toxic problems where they live. I also found out that laying off all milk products helps as well."

[YEA]  02/18/2011: P. from Redondo Beach, Ca: "My son (6 years old) has been using apple cider vinegar to treat his chronic sinus infection. I learned it from a web-site(couldn't remember which one) which recommended adult to take it the minute the sinus infection start w/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar w/a bit of honey 3x a day for at least 3 days or more. I think that's the key, the minute you felt you come down w/stuffy nose you should start the treatment right away, don't delay.

In my son case, he took 1 tbsp 3x a day w/1/2 tbsp Manuka honey. Manuka honey apparently has property stronger than antibiotic that can cures many ailments, among them is sinus infection, that's what the researcher claim. Anyway, the combination of these two treatments have been working great for my son. Usually he would get round of antibiotic from his doctor but no more. We've been able to avoid going to the doctor ever since we started this treatment. I've noticed that if I forgot to give him his apple cider vinegar treatment(before he goes to bed at night) then he has trouble sleeping due to stuffy nose, etc. w/apple cider vinegar and manuka honey treatment, he slept good at night and able to get rid the sinus infection w/in few days. I hope this information help."

[YEA]  02/13/2011: Barbara859 from Mission Viejo, Ca: "Apple Cider Vinegar really helped. I have been suffering from a sinus infection for a few days. First I tried the 2 tablespoons ACV and 2 tablespoons water and heated it and inhaled the steam. It made my eyes water a little. I felt a bit of relief, then after about 1/2 an hour I tried 2 tablespoons of ACV in 8 ounces of warm water and drank it. I started to feel better in about 20 minutes. What a relief!"

[YEA]  02/07/2011: Valeriaj from Carefree, Az: "I can't believe this! took one glass of 8 oz water with 2 tbls of ACV and my painful sinus went away in less than 12 hours! one glass! I was in such pain, couldn't bend my head down, pain when pressing on the sinus area, stuffed nose... All cleared! relief in 20 min or so after drinking straight up in the evening and full clearance of symptoms when I woke up next morning! wow! thank you earth clinic and contributors of feedback!"

Having just had another infection and another round of anti-biotics and anti histmine as per the doctors instruction. Two weeks later same again in desperation went online and asked for natural cures for sinus.

Thanks to God I was put onto this website could not belive a simple cure would work?Went to local store and purchace the apple cider vinegar, basic filtered stuff with no emzines or organic. Anyway within three days I could breath and within one week completly cured, It was if a light was switched on all these years doctors vists chemist antibiotics anti histamine costs? Have been on the organic for three months been educted about aspartime, great site, lost eight kilos With exercise. Its as if a light had been turned on. Feel like 50 again Thank for a great website."

02/11/2011: Laurel from Newport, Wa replies: "Thank you for the invaluable information!! After trying 2 rounds of antibiotics, I was desperate and found this site. Just tried Apple Cider Vinegar with a bit of honey in a small glass of water. Sinuses are clear!! I am breathing through my nose again!!"
02/17/2011: Gregory from Dobbs Ferry, Ny replies: "I am 38 years old and live in NY. I have horrible sinus problems due to a deviated septum and genetics. I am on my 3rd sinus infection this winter and am fed up. The first two go arounds, I got antibiotics. They worked, but I got the infection again weeks later.

I just now drank a 8oz glass of water with 2 tlbs of distilled vinegar (I don't have ACV, but will get some tomorrow) and I feel it working. Unreal. The constant urge to sneeze and the burning inside my nose is disappearing.

Thank you!"
09/06/2012: Cdwarrior from Sf, Ca replies: "Wow, I am stunned. I have suffered from frequent sinus infections for years and have tried every "proven" remedy from large doses of garlic to olive leaf extract with no success. So naturally I was skeptical of this. But what the heck, Apple Cider Vinegar is cheap so I'll give it a shot. I'd been blowing yellow gobs of gunk several tims a day all week. I drank some Apple Cider Vinegar and honey tea yesterday and didn't really notice any dramatic difference within the short time, as people had mentioned. But I wasn't experiencing much pressure or pain anyway. Hower, I realized today that I have blown zero gunk since drinking the tea yesterday. My nose feels clear, dry, and gunk-free nearly 24 hours later whereas before I was blowing my nose every couple hours at least. I'm amazed. How can it work that fast?"

01/24/2011: Yogitha from Singapore, Singapore: "Which of these remedies is safe during pregnancy?"

02/03/2012: Kristys from Appleton, Wi replies: "Yogitha - I drank 8oz Hot water, 1-2TBLS. ACV and honey to taste while I was pregnant when I had colds that included sinus congestion. I had 2-3 cups a day usually. It really helps with stuffiness etc. I can convince myself that it tastes vaguely like hot apple cider so I can tolerate ACV this way - even with a sensitive stomach during pregnancy.

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  12/27/2010: Mich14b from Parker, Co, Usa: "After attempting to literally run my sinus infection out of me, I had given up until I read about ACV. I only started this today but I am already feeling more clear headed and my headache is better. I am eager to see how I feel in 2 more days and a several more doses. Does anyone know if I can overdose on ACV?"

06/20/2011: Nwaca from Fw, Usa replies: "maybe if u drink a whole bottle u might not feel so hot. But I don't think u can 'overdose' as in medicines or vitamins. Kinda like drinking too much apple juice or something. Might make u feel crappy but not gonna kill u"

12/26/2010: Gina from Athens, Alabama: "About 2 wks ago I started feeling pain which became maybe the worst sinus infection I have ever had -- or at least in years. I was advised to use Mucinex D and Tylenol, then prescribed antibiotics and steroids for a week, and advised to use nasal spray and even an inhaler when my coughing fits started to alarm everybody I was around. The day I started taking all this, I found the website. I decided to go ahead and take all the meds first. They helped some, but never completely cleared my head.

I have been using the 2 Tbsp ACV and 1 tsp honey in a tea 1x a day for the last 3 days. The first cup of tea completely cleared my head in just a short while. I looked again today and found that I should be drinking this more than 1x a day, so I will be increasing my doses. I hate taking prescription meds, and usually avoid doctors until I just can't, so I am excited to find this natural remedy and am encouraged by the results I feel already. I still have some pain occasionally in my head, and am still stuffy at times, but the tea always takes care of it. Its not a great flavored drink, but I have found I can drink it much more easily today than I did three days ago. Looking forward to being well and I will be checking out your site for other things as well -- thank you! "

Plus Ive been useing the sinus rinse... By the way dont use this as a sinus rinse burns like hell!!! Plus homemade beef jerky with lots of spices help to!!! Hope it keeps getting better!!!! Merrry Christmas to all!!!"

03/15/2011: K. from Charlotte, Nc replies: "My sinus infection came on suddenly after the flu. I woke up one morning and I thought all my teeth were about to fall out, the pain was so bad. It progressed over several weeks to today, when it's not so bad but I'm having severe nausea due to accidentally swallowing the drainage.

I started out taking astra isatis (got the tablets from my acupuncturist); drinking lots of tea; drinking hot water with red pepper, lemon, and honey; and using my neti pot. That all helped a lot but now I want to try the ACV to get the final gunk out. I'm tired of spitting out crap every few minutes and feeling like I'm confined to the house because of it

I had my first ACV drink (2 tsps of ACV with a tsp of local honey) this afternoon. I'll be drinking another one in a few minutes."

11/28/2010: Mike from Westerville, Oh: "I found your website back in May after many repeated bouts with sinus infections. I was really desperate. I had a full blown sinus infection and was headed again to the Doctor. Well, I drank the ACV with honey and I also added a drop or two to my sinus flush with salt. Well the infection in my head and chest went completely away except that I waited too long and my ears got infected and I had to get antibiotics anyway.

Since then I've had multiple sinus infections and the ACV always makes my head feel better and my sinuses don't clamp up like normal making the infection worse. I wouldn't say ACV is a cure but I would say it's a great preventative and I recommend it to everyone. I carry it now while traveling and use a drop or two in my sinus rinse while in Hotels. I don't do this everyday but maybe once a week. If I have an infection I go to once per day. I have also combined this with the over the counter straight Mucinex and with both of these my head it back to normal for a month or so until I go outside and rake leaves or walk through the woods. Then I clamp up unless I use this ACV. Thanks very very much."

[YEA]  12/29/2010: Ann from Austin, Tx replies: "After reading a few things about using apple cider vinigar, I decided to make some changes and use it more directly. I put 2 tablespoons of vinigar and 2 tablespoons of water into a coffee cup, heat the mixture for 40 seconds, after expelling as much mucus as possible, breathe in the steam through nose and mouth, reheat as often as you can. I do it all day. It's stinky, but it seems to really work."

10/26/2010: Amy from Vancouver, Wa : "I tried apple cider vinegar just to see. I have sinusitis. I had a sinus surgery a few years ago and am expected to do yet another. The problem with sinus surgeries is that a patient will have to undergo these about every three to five years for relief and what happens when there is no more sinus to remove? Good grief! So I am trying everything to avoid that, and also to avoid taking antibiotics. The last antibiotic prescribed was a fluoroquinolone called Levaquin and it nearly killed me. Those kinds of antibiotics are famous for causing long term to permanent damage body wide and also central nervous symptom problems. It can cause tendinitis, which it did! It's been a roller coaster ride... So I tried this natural remedy today just to see. No word yet on whether it's cured me, but it didn't taste bad, and I also used local honey, because for the sake of allergies, it is best to use local honey."

11/01/2010: Lisa from Waynesboro, Virginia replies: "I was considering surgery also, but did everything on this site and am doing great! ACV was the best, but also hydrogen peroxide, Coconut oil, etc. Search the site. Also deal with a possible candida or allergy issue. I had systemic candida and still have vestiges of it, but as it improved so did my sinus problems."

[YEA]  10/11/2010: The Survival Mama from Herriman, Utah: "Apple cider vinegar is such a great remedy! When I use this after a yoga shoulderstand my headache/sinus pain goes away within an hour. To be fair, I like vinegar - a LOT - I could see where this might be challenging to someone who doesn't care for vinegar."

[YEA]  05/10/2011: Neil from Blackfoot, Id replies: "I hate vinegar, but I was in so much pain I drank it with a smile. It got things flowing right away."

[YEA]  09/25/2010: George from Philadelphia, Pa: "UNBELIEVABLE......... 4 month sinus infection(only over the counter sudafed used(hate doctors)). Apple Cider Vinegar in 24 hours cures the affliction. What else can I say-fabulous-please keep up the good work!!!"

[YEA]  09/06/2010: Karen W from Charlotte, North Carolina : "I have been using Apple Cider Vinegar for 3 years and it has cured all of my sinus infections. I usually have sinus issues twice each year. I take the apple cider vinegar capsules from the health food store. Also, when I have been exposed to strep throat, I gargle with ACV."

[YEA]  07/15/2010: Regina from Albany, Ny: "Last evening I couldn't stand it any longer so I made a visit to the local "on call doc in the box. "
I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and given the ________. On my way home from the pharmacy, I stopped to visit a friend. He made me the "miracle tea" which included ACV and honey. This morning I woke up without a sore throat. I was skeptical last night, but now I know it honestly works! ! Thank you for this website."

[YEA]  06/26/2010: Sheila from New York, Ny, Usa: "Apple Cider Vinegar & Sinus Infections

I am cured! I've been using the ACV remedy for about 3 or 4 days. Posted initially and didn't realize I was using the wrong ACV. Used organic, unfiltered but didn't know it has to be unpasteurized also until today. I'm going to pick up B----'s to have on hand. Even so, I can't believe how quickly the wrong ACV worked! Over the course of 25 years, I took antibiotics 3-5 times a year. I took OTC anti-inflammatories, sudafed, guaifenesin before and after it went OTC, steroidal nasal sprays, and prescription decongestants. All this time, all I needed was the ACV remedy!

I'd just finished a 10-day course of antibiotics about 6 or 7 weeks ago when I came down with another infection 4 or 5 days ago. I thought I'd have to consider surgery finally, when I came across your site. As I wrote in my prior post, I started drinking 2 tbsp organic, unfiltered ACV in 10 oz water w/1 tsp raw honey. On day two, I made it w/8 oz. water and 2 tsp raw honey. I drank it twice daily. 3 or 4 days later, I feel 100%. I've told all my friends and co-workers about the ACV remedy, so now I'll be sure to tell them to get the right ACV. Thank you EC!"

04/19/2011: Rebeccanyc from New York, Ny replies: "Drink 2 TBS of ACV (the organic kind with the "mother" in it) in 8 ounces of water 3X a day. Flush out sinuses with a neti pot or plastic squeeze bottle (I personally think some plastic squeeze bottles enable you to get liquid higher up and are easier to use than neti pots) using a solution of 8 ounces warm water (not too hot! ) and about 4 drops ACV. Mix and pour 4 ounces into netti/squeeze bottle to use to irrigate right sinus, and then irrigate left sinus with the remaining 4 ounces. Irrigate like this at morning and at night, along with drinking the 2 tablespoons of ACV in water 3X a day, and you should be finally clearing up your sinuses!!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  06/23/2010: Sheila from New York, Ny, Usa: "I am 46 and have suffered from sinus infections for 25 years. I do find using a neti pot with saline solution helps as a preventive measure and, if I have an infection, it temporarily relieves congestion. Avoiding dairy, with the exception of soured products is very helpful. Sudafed and steroidal sprays sometimes keep an infection at bay if I start using them soon enough. But over the last 2 years, the presenting symptoms have changed so I often don't realize I'm on the verge of getting an infection. Instead, I feeel fine and and then, seemingly out of nowhere, my teeth and jaws aches, the pressure begins, and so does the bad taste in my mouth. Very quickly, The pain becomes so unbearable that I wish someone would lop off my head. Then there's the nausea, from swallowing the nasty drip. And the lightheadness or dizziness. All in all, it's horrendous.

Unlike a lot of posters, I did use antibiotics several times/year and had much success. But I worry more & more about the bacteria morphing and becoming resistant. And who wouldn't rather refrain from using prescription drugs if natural remedies work?

All this to say that I mixed up 2 TBSP of organic, undiluted ACV in 10 oz. warm water & a good TSP of raw honey and drank it down thru a straw a little over an hour ago. The congestion & pressure has eased. My ears popped and no longer feel clogged at all. My teeth and jaw are not throbbing and my eyes somehow feel less swollen. I'm thrilled! It's bedtime now, so I'll be curious to see how I sleep and how I feel in the morning after a 2nd dose. Maybe I diluted the ACV more than most and I'm sure the honey helped too. But I didn't find the taste as horrifying or burning as a lot of other posters.

At any rate, I'm really encouraged by how much better I feel & how quickly! A million thanks!"

08/28/2010: Maurice from Northbridge, Ma replies: "I've been suffering from a sinus infections every year. Antibiotics are not helping. I'm going to purchase the ingredients that you tried. Thank's much for the input. Sincerely,
03/04/2011: Eva from Houston, Tx replies: "This is for Sheila in New York (post on 6/23/10):
Your changing symptoms (esp pain in the teeth and jaws) sound like they could be a form of migraine. Migraines and sinus issues can occur in tandem, or can mimic each other. I have both and it has taken me a long time to get a handle on them. Changes in barometric pressure are a big trigger for both sinus problems and migraines, as are allergens (dietary and environmental). For migraine prevention I now take 400 mg of magnesium citrate per day. I have not had a migraine in over a year. Just a thought for people who are suffering from chronic sinus issues."
07/18/2012: "Interesting, I am also from Houstone, and have the same problems with overlapping migraine/sinus issues - it must be due to the environment here for those of us sensitive to such. Yoga helps, the headstand, shoulderstand - which increases blood flow/circulation to the head, helping to move the gunk. However, I suffer terribly with headaches, and they seem to be 50/50 migraine/sinuses and buggars to get rid of. They hang on and come back to finish me off if I am not persistent and vigilant, but sap my energy way too much especially now I am older (50).

I take ACV which goes down well, so body must need it. I also juice with beets and other veg's and take probiotics to keep a good balance. But the headache/sinus pressure is unbearable, with no gunk actually ever coming out, just constant drainage and constant mucous. I am trying to change my family's diet to less sugar, dairy, etc... But hard with many different needs. I also have a terrible smell in my nose, breath for 6 months now and cannot shake it. Almost a chemical, gas smell sometimes - it makes me sick when it is at its worst."
