I came to this sight as I've had a sinus infection for three weeks now and 10 days of antibiotics didn't help (drat! ). Still sick and need to be well! I did the steam with ACV and it did work well for me and cleared my head. Today, I'm trying the ACV to drink. I made an 8 oz mug of tea, mixed 2 TBSP of ACV and a little honey (apple tea) - it really seemed to clear my head about five minutes after I drank it. It didn't clear it completely, but I could feel my pressure being relieved just a little. I'm going to keep trying this method and see if maybe it will work... so far so good.

Hi all! I have looked over the ACV thread many times in desperation during my NUMEROUS chronic sinus infections. I always have given in and ran to the drs thinking that all of this homeopathic stuff was for nutty people. Well, count me in the nutty pile now!!!! And so happy to be here! I finally said ENOUGH! When you've learned your lesson and gone to the Dr.time after time taking antibiotic after antibiotic, spray after spray, from Z-Pacs to the dreaded (for me anyway I'm allergic augmentin) and you get about three weeks if that of happiness and a faux feeling of being 'cured'-ahem-cough cough. Something is NOT right!

So, I went straight down to my local health food store and purchased a inexpensive bottle-lg. by the way of Organic ACV-which doesn't taste bad to me for some odd reason and picked up LOCAL honey to aid in preventing my allergies after educating myself on chronic sinusitis, Started using my neti pot daily and I am committed to taking measures into my own hands. If I have to rely on some OTC remedies occasionally then so be it but from now on my diet is changing and my preventitive sinus and allergy health care is as well. Back to basics.

The first night I tried it I woke up the next day and was so shocked I could breathe and my pain level decreased from a literal-NO JOKING HERE-ten to a three!!!!!! The next day was better. But I am also using clear rinse sinus rinse every thirty minutes in each nostril-you can google that-no I don't sell it. It's kind of an experiment because there was some big AD on YT about another product like it twice the price that is supposed to kill the bacteria if used every thirty minutes for about three days to a week. Same darn ingredients. I am sorry it's called Ocean I got it at CVS. It is really taking the sinus pain away. I was in so much pain that I almost went to an emergency room for pain without health insurance. The local honey my landlord told me about makes sense because that would-it seems where ever you live, build up your immune system to fight against pollens etc.

Good luck guys-allergies and sinus pain is awful it has shut down my social life I literally haven't ecercised or dated in a year. Wish me luck! Much luv!!!

Yogagirl I am right there with you! I am absolutely miserable! I am trying ACV for the first time and I believe it is helping. I have been on 4 months of antibiotics and steroids for my Sinusitis. I now have to get surgery (which I hate) but nothing has been able to help me. I am from Dallas too and I swear Texas is the worst place for allergies. I am allergic to everything in the state of Texas except for fire ants. Yay. My social and dating life is nonexistent and hasn't been for over a year. I physically cannot exercise due to the fatigue and exhaustion the sinus infections have on me. I don't know if you have tried an ACV detox bath but I have done that before and it worked amazing, but then the pain came back so hopefully this combo will get me through the next couple of weeks till surgery! It is comforting to know that I am not the only one going through this. Makes me feel less crazy! Hope everything is working out for you and life is getting back to normal! Wishing you luck!

Last week, after having bad pain in one sinus(maxillary) and green disharge, I thought that only a trip to the doctor and antibiotics would sort this out. But I read everyone's tips here on apple cider vinegar and decided to try it (with scepticism). After sniffing the steam of hot half apple cider vinegar and water, the next morning I woke to no pain and only a slight clear discharge and have been better now for days. These home remedies here are worth their weight in gold and I'll be happy to hang around and hear even more :).

Wow, I just saw this posting. I have antibiotics, nasal spray and an inhaler. I've had a cough for weeks and I had a migraine from the sinus congestion... Now full blown infection. I'm excited to try this home remedy! Thanks for the posting and feedback on this!

I hope that it works for you too Jen, please let me know how you go with this :)

It wasn't the nicest thing to do-sniffing such a strong-smelling concoction and the steam left a little burning sensation in my nose, but I was able to blow out so much gunk afterwards. Now I'm also trying other remedies for better health including eating 1 or 2 cloves of raw garlic each day & have also started oil-pulling.

After being so fatigued over the years(no energy & need at least 9-12 hours of sleep per day just to function), this morning I woke at 6. 30am, got the kids ready & off to school, myself off to work and I felt so energetic.. Am hoping that this isn't a fluke(or placebo effect), that perhaps these remedies are doing something for my constant tiredness.

Good Day!! I want to thank everyone on this site... I had a sinus infection... Or what I believed was a sinus infection cause I did not go to a doctor.... I had a lump that I first felt inside of my nose about a week ago... Then I was able to feel the lump on the outside of my nose and I got worried. I was told by a friend it could be a sinus infection. So I looked for a natural cure and came across this website... I did the ACV.... Wonderful!!! With the honey added for 3 days.... Also got the neti pot!!! I will tell you after the first use the lump inside my nose was gone!! After two uses I was lump free!! I do no that it has something to do with pollen, dust, pets, and other things... All which are in my life... My job is so dusty its crazy... I have made the neti pot a part of my life now!! Thank you to all of you!!

Six months ago I had a sinus infection with flu-like symptoms. I used the standard apple cider vinegar (ACV)-water mixture to dose myself for relief. It helped me considerably, and cut the progress of the infection and flu short. I whole-heartedly believe that the ACV did the trick. My sinuses were clearing up and the mucus thinned so that my breathing was easy and not painful.

I also believe the ACV 'kick-started' my menstrual cycle at the same time I was sick with the sinus infection -- I was miserable, but thankfully not for long, and the ACV helped with reducing the usual menstrual symptoms I had suffered in the past; missed cycles, heavy flow, cramping, bloating, achiness, grouchiness.

After that month, 6 months ago, I haven't had a sinus infection. There was a time I felt an inkling of an infection coming on, and one dose of ACV did the trick, no onset of infection. Six months ago was also the last time I had a menstrual cycle -- thought I was going premenopausal since I'm only in my early 40s, also, I developed a chalazion (doctor confirmed) on my lower eyelash line a few weeks after I recovered from my sinus infection, and stopping use of ACV. The chalazion has been with me ever since.

Since developing the chalazion, I've used a rue fennel eyewash, tea compresses, Similsan eye drops; nothing worked, until I searched on Earthclinic for a remedy -- castor oil. (I also have pingueculae on both of my eyes, started about 7 years ago after lasik surgery and dryness.)

------------------

Geez, I sound like a mess, don't I?

When I read more on castor oil for my chalazion, I crossed my fingers hoping for more benefits, like ridding myself of the pingueculae.

-----------------

Now, after starting ACV again, but for maintenance purposes (I read D. C. Jarvis's "Folk Medicine"), my period miraculously re-started and my chalazion has shrunk down, and my eye is looking more normal. I was using castor oil with a warm compress or a steam on the chalazion for about 15 days prior to starting ACV. I did see results from the castor oil on my chalazion, but I think with using both the ACV and castor oil, they speeded up healing the chalazion.

My benefits from ACV and Earthclinic are three-fold: a remedy for sinus infection/flu; menstrual symptom relief (and re-start); reduction to almost no chalazion! I'm going to keep going with a one-dose-a-day of ACV to keep my menstruation cycle regular, but for now continue the ACV and castor oil treatment to see if I can completely heal the chalazion. I will update this when the chalazion is gone.

(Oh yes! Can't forget: the castor oil has given me the best nights' (plural) sleep in a very long time.)

I was down all week with what the doctor said was a sinus infection (terrible pain all over my head and in my face and eyes, so bad it made me vomit) all week. He gave me azithromycin, which gave me some really uncomfortable body aches. I'm a firm believer in natural medicine, but because this thing was so nasty and because the course was only three pills, I took the antibiotic. I've been reading all the great posts on ACV and am sipping some right now in hot water and honey to make sure this thing doesn't come back. I don't mind the taste, though I worry about the effect on tooth enamel, so a few months ago when using the ACV for something else, I bought some glass straws (if the ACV can eat tooth enamel, I don't know what it'll do to a plastic straw) and will just rinse with water. I used to make salad dressing out of ACV - guess I'll start doing that again too. I might even try a little in my neti pot just to make sure! Just as an aside - cold pressed castor oil - not the one you buy in the drug store for constipation, but the one mentioned here used to heal the eye problem, should NEVER be taken internally, so please don't do that. This type of castor oil is for external use only, and it says so on the bottle. I will tell you that when my son was little, he used to get a chalazion-like thing on his upper eyelid, and I would saturate a four-fold piece of clean, white flannel soaked in warmed castor oil and keep it over his eye for a few hours off and on over a couple of days. When taking it off, I soaked his eye with warm water. Within two days the infection drained and was always better. That stuff is great too.

A friend told me about this site because I was suffering from a sinus infection (an annual spring issue for me). I tried apple cider vinegar and snorting cayenne pepper for a few days. Result: the sinus infection is no better, my nose burns and I have a bad taste in my mouth. Going to the doctor tomorrow to get some real medication.

I have suffered from sinus problems for 25 years. Cannot even take any medication for relief. Had allergy shots for 1 1/2 years. No relief. I bought 5 allegra tablets and took 2. Could not stand the side affects. Out of desperation I asked the internet and found Apple Cider Vinegar as a possible cure. I went to the store and got Apple Cider Vinegar and honey. Went home and mixed it up. I no longer feel I am going to choke and die in the morning. I am 54 and it was just getting worse. My third day and I feel great. I can breath through my nose again and have a lot more energy and sleep good at night and wake up with clear unconjested sinus's.

Also use to suffer from canker sores 45 years. The internet saved me again. After suffering with canker sores that would sap my energy and cause severe pain and loss of appetite due to the pain while eating. Well this is what has cured me toms tooth paste that is SLS free. They put detergrant in toothpaste and this aggravated any injuries to your mouth and would cause canker sores. I would get at least 15 to 25 a year. They would be tough ones and last 7 to 10 days and hurt. Lot of pain that I do not experience any more. I still get about 2 a year but I notice them and they are gone without any pain. They heal fast and I can eat without pain and they no longer bother me. They heal as fast as I notice them. I have not had 1 yet that has caused me discomfort. 3 years I have used tom's non SLS free toothpaste. just like apple cider vinager it works.

Unreal, My wife gets bad sinis bowts twice a year. Each year she goes to the doctors and they give her pills and crap that take weeks to get rid of it.

This time it was really bad , she had swollon noise, sore eyes, and a headace that made her cry, so I said enough of these doctors. I came on this site and found the ACV directions and had her try it.

Within 10 minuets she started to feel a little better, and 24hrs later she is almost back to normal and feels great. I dont know if it works for everybody but I, ll tell ya its worth a try.

Thanks alot and keep up the good work.

Not only is it okay to take apple cider vinegar while pregnant, it's an excellent idea, as it creates a healthier environment for growing a baby. Dilute! You may want to skip honey during pregnancy and breastfeeding, due to the (very, very small but real) risk of botulism. Try molasses or stevia instead.

I just wanted to say the ACV made me breathe easier within 2-3 minutes... Totally amazing! Now I just need to keep it on the counter so I remember to take it every day 3x a day!

I did want to mention that I do get sinus infections and they started when we moved into our house- we suspect mold but are afraid to rip open the walls until we can do any removal properly. That was 9 years ago. We ripped up the carpets 7 years ago because my daughter coughed on and off for 3 months. (she is doing it again now despite every holistic remedy in the book) I get about 1 or more sinus infections a year but always after a cold.... the whole shebang, teeth, cheek bones, head pain you name it.

Anyhow, I wanted to mention that I don't consume milk of any kind, yogurt or cheese, and haven't eaten ice cream in over 15 years LOL I also don't have air conditioning in my house and it broke in my car years ago- it makes me feel yukky and tired too so I don't like it on. I live on 100 acres secluded and our woodstove is now OUTSIDE... although we do live 2 km from a 4 lane highway.

We eat a holistic allergy free diet (no wheat, gluten, dairy, soy, corn, refined sugar) and we sprout, eat high raw foods, grow and juice wheatgrass etc.

From what I have read about mold... sounds like that could be the root cause of most peoples sinus issues and can stay in the sinuses for years.

My girlfriend has 4 children. In their old house (where they did have to deal with mold and mice) they had a horrible time. The kids were always seeming to get sick, her one son was snoring and a mouth breather, lots of coughing, she has seasonal allergies etc. Since they moved to their new house they are doing wayyyy better!!! |Wish I could do the same!

I do however look forward to moving out of our house in a few weeks and into our trailer to see if I no longer wake up stuffy and brain fogged in the morning and hopefully this head cold will be gone by then!

Glad you mentioned the mold issue in your house. I never had sinus issues like this till I moved into this Apartment 4 years ago, and I know there is mold and mildew on the insides of the walls since I had a broken pipe, and they had to open up the walls. I wonder how many people have sinus issues due to mold , mildew or other toxic problems where they live. I also found out that laying off all milk products helps as well.

My son (6 years old) has been using apple cider vinegar to treat his chronic sinus infection. I learned it from a web-site(couldn't remember which one) which recommended adult to take it the minute the sinus infection start w/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar w/a bit of honey 3x a day for at least 3 days or more. I think that's the key, the minute you felt you come down w/stuffy nose you should start the treatment right away, don't delay.

In my son case, he took 1 tbsp 3x a day w/1/2 tbsp Manuka honey. Manuka honey apparently has property stronger than antibiotic that can cures many ailments, among them is sinus infection, that's what the researcher claim. Anyway, the combination of these two treatments have been working great for my son. Usually he would get round of antibiotic from his doctor but no more. We've been able to avoid going to the doctor ever since we started this treatment. I've noticed that if I forgot to give him his apple cider vinegar treatment(before he goes to bed at night) then he has trouble sleeping due to stuffy nose, etc. w/apple cider vinegar and manuka honey treatment, he slept good at night and able to get rid the sinus infection w/in few days. I hope this information help.

Apple Cider Vinegar really helped. I have been suffering from a sinus infection for a few days. First I tried the 2 tablespoons ACV and 2 tablespoons water and heated it and inhaled the steam. It made my eyes water a little. I felt a bit of relief, then after about 1/2 an hour I tried 2 tablespoons of ACV in 8 ounces of warm water and drank it. I started to feel better in about 20 minutes. What a relief!

I have been having about three sinus infections each year for the past three years. I am 62 and found this very hard to take. Having just had another infection and another round of anti-biotics and anti histmine as per the doctors instruction. Two weeks later same again in desperation went online and asked for natural cures for sinus.

Thanks to God I was put onto this website could not belive a simple cure would work?Went to local store and purchace the apple cider vinegar, basic filtered stuff with no emzines or organic. Anyway within three days I could breath and within one week completly cured, It was if a light was switched on all these years doctors vists chemist antibiotics anti histamine costs? Have been on the organic for three months been educted about aspartime, great site, lost eight kilos With exercise. Its as if a light had been turned on. Feel like 50 again Thank for a great website.

I just now drank a 8oz glass of water with 2 tlbs of distilled vinegar (I don't have ACV, but will get some tomorrow) and I feel it working. Unreal. The constant urge to sneeze and the burning inside my nose is disappearing.

Wow, I am stunned. I have suffered from frequent sinus infections for years and have tried every "proven" remedy from large doses of garlic to olive leaf extract with no success. So naturally I was skeptical of this. But what the heck, Apple Cider Vinegar is cheap so I'll give it a shot. I'd been blowing yellow gobs of gunk several tims a day all week. I drank some Apple Cider Vinegar and honey tea yesterday and didn't really notice any dramatic difference within the short time, as people had mentioned. But I wasn't experiencing much pressure or pain anyway. Hower, I realized today that I have blown zero gunk since drinking the tea yesterday. My nose feels clear, dry, and gunk-free nearly 24 hours later whereas before I was blowing my nose every couple hours at least. I'm amazed. How can it work that fast?

It really helps with stuffiness etc. I can convince myself that it tastes vaguely like hot apple cider so I can tolerate ACV this way - even with a sensitive stomach during pregnancy.

Well, I was skeptical about this at first. I have used cayenne to gargle with for a sore throat and thought it would be hell to put up your nose, but that crap works wonders! I mixed a cup of filtered water, lukewarm, with a neti pot packet, 5 drops of ACV, and a tiny dash of cayenne (the tail end of the tip of a knife). It made me have to blow my nose for about 5 minutes straight, but an hr and a half later, I am clear as a bell. A sinus infection set in 2 days ago and yesterday I started oil of oregano pills and nasal spray with grapefruit seed extract. I felt better when I got up today, but the cayenne/ACV rinse has really done the trick. Thanks Earth Clinic.
