I was quite fascinated when I read about oil pulling and decided to try it out for my migraine. I could not find sesame or sunflower so made do with VCO and Safflower oil. 1 tablespoon every morning. It worked the first time I tried it! No migraine. It also helped to ease my achy jaw, which was a result of clenching my molars for long periods, to bear wit the migraine. I sleep better too! Will continue this for as long as I can!

Hi, My husband and I just started OP and have been doing it for about 3 days now. The first night I did it something very strange happened. When I woke up the next morning my pillow case which is usually hunter green, had turned yellow! It was as if it had been bleached by amonia coming out of my pores! My shirt had even changed colors like it had been bleached as well and when I washed them, it did not come out. The sheets set is now ruined and has to be replaced. My husband did not experience this at all. Is this normal? Is this just my body's way of detoxing? Has anyone else experienced this? In the morning I use Peanut Oil and at night I use Saaflower Oil. My husband and I both have noticed that we feel better overall, it seems to give us a boost of energy and I've noticed that our teeth are getting whiter. I originally started this because I've been having acne problems, but honestly I haven't noticed much of a change in my skin from OP. I've heard all these stories of other people ending up with beautifu skin from OP and I'm hoping that will happen to me. My acne is not that bad, but I am willing to do anything to get rid of what I do have. Meanwhile, I've been using Hydrogen Peroxide and an Apricot Face scrub along with Clearasil cream and that seems to be helping. My husband and I also drink ACV 3 times a day and I'm hoping that along with the OP will help my acne as well. If anyone has any other suggestions please feel free to email me. I am all ears and will take ANY advice! I love Earthclinic! This site has been wonderful! Good luck to all! ~Tonya and Bobby

Hi in response to Tonya R. I suffered from acne on one side of my face for over a year. I tried every product and detox I heard of and nothing helped. I eat healthy and exercise regularly so didnt think it was brought on from being toxic. I had never suffered from acne in the past so I put it down to adult acne as I was 25 when it started.

I had heard about using creams with peroxide but didnt want to burn and damage my skin. Everywhere I read recommended starting with 2.5% peroxide. This didnt work for me and I had no results as my acne was already too severe. I was desperate so I ended up purchasing a bottle with 10% peroxide (the strongest over the counter treatment I could buy). Within a couple of days my acne started to heal.

You do have to use this stuff sparingly as it can dry your skin out if you use too much - thats what you dont want. I would also recommend using a milder cream once your acne has healed for the odd lingering spot. But the 10% was the only thing that relieved me after a year of endless searching. And yes it did bleach my pillow cases so you may want to use white beding during treatment. hope this helps you and anyone else suffering with stubborn acne.

ps. I have just started oil pulling too. think its a fantastic idea but am sceptical. Not sure whether to start with sesame or sunflower? I am wheat intolerant so hoping it helps my digestive system.

With regards to acne - I had acne for a long time on and off with outbreaks. Two products helped me to calm my skin and overall stabilized my system: Schizandra and Duanwood Reishi [as well as Pearl Powder] - but only take the best & purest quality. I had to take about 6 capsules each per day for about 6 months and now outbreaks are gone [and believe me I tried a lot in the last 10 years]! Generally, my skin & overall health have very much improved. Furthermore, there are skin care products with tea tree oil, retinol for the night, which helped me clear my skin but since I take Schizandra and Duanwood Reishi I do not need them anymore. In Chinese medicine Schizandra is an important health tonic as it is suppose to be able to balance the 12 organ system in the body. Research it a bit but only take high quality products - all else won't do. It is very subtle and only after a couple of month I realised that my skin changed and now I have not had a flew or illness for over a year since I take these two tonic herbs. Hope this will be of help.

Hi Karina,

Thanks for your wonderful feedback on the chinese herbs for acne.
If you can provide some more information about these herbs then tons of people will thank you regrading this..
1) Where can I find these Schizandra and Duanwood Reishi . I stay in Los Angeles
2) What are these herbs? Does it cause any sideeeffects or are they natural.
3) 6 capsules per day for 6 months. Will it not affect my system.

I would really appreciate if you can provide some mre details about these herbs. Again thank you very much.

Hi Thealth from Los Angeles,

The two herbs that Karina mentions comes from the Superior herbs class, or AKA Longivity herbs. Which means they can be taken for as long as you wish, and even for life if you wish (remember they are only foods). The Schizandra is actually a fruit, and Duanwood Reishi is actually a Reishi mushroom grown on a Duanwood log. Pearl is yet another mushroom. If you wish to find reptutable suppliers from China, I choose plum flower. There are several suppliers you can order online. I often order from Kalyx. I am mostly into making my own tinctures for myself and my family, but will sometimes order the powder form of an herb and capsulate them myself (I have no affiliation with any supplier or brand). I am posting my email address if you have any questions, Peace, Rena.

Hi Thealth,

Here is some more information which might be useful:

To point 1) I recommend Ron Teeguarden's book about Chinese Tonic herbs - put his name into google & you find a lot excellent researched information offered - I think he lives in Los Angeles & you can even consult him personally but as well check those brands which Rena mentioned].

To point 2) As Rena mentioned accurately Schizandra & Duanwood Reishi are both ancient tonic herbs and have no side effects. They act like a balancing power in your system recognizing what your immune system needs. In China & India they are revered as longevity herbs - especially Schizandra is a fruit of 5 tastes and in the Aryurvedic tradition it means that it has the power to balance all doshas. It is not just the skin that improved but overall vitality - calmness which I thought I lost after some pretty stressful years.

To point 3) These herbs are so gentle that at first I did not think they did anything but then a friend asked that my skin did look so much better. At some point I even raised the dosage to 3 x 3 from each capsule. The regimen which works perfect for me is Tonic herbs [2 x 3 capsules from each plant] & Yoga. After this year all inflammations left my body. But now I just feel save it is not just a treatment which "rubs off" but your health is improved long time and even builds up energy.

This might be interesting to some... and that is where my journey to health began a story of a Chinese man who was supposed to be 252 years old:Li Qing Yuen's Other "Secrets of Longevity"

According to the complete story of Li Qing Yuen, Master Li was once asked what his "secrets of longevity" were. It is well known that his diet consisted primarily of vegetables and tonic herbs, but also very small amounts of meat. But in response to the question concerning his "secrets", he is reported to have said that in order to live long, one must be able to "Sit like a tortoise, walk like a pigeon, and sleep like a dog."

Translation:

"Sit like a tortoise" refers to the ability to sit still, free from concern, breathing slowly and calmly. This skill is achieved by practicing meditation. Meditation is not really passive, though it may appear to be. It is the art of achieving stillness - an art that allows us to rejuvenate both our body and mind every day. It also refers to the ability to concentrate and remain alert for long periods of time while sitting still - not an easy task for Americans, but definitely possible with some practice. Sitting still while breathing slowly has been proven to reduce high blood pressure, a huge problem in America. High blood pressure can be modulated in many individuals by simultaneously breathing deeply and slowly while calming the mind.

"Walk like a pigeon" refers to the ability to walk briskly, at any age. To the Taoists, walking "like the wind" is both a source and sign of vigor and youthfulness. Speed walking has been widely practiced in China for thousands of years as a form of superior exercise. Walking quickly and lightly for a distance of a couple of miles a day is considered to be superb exercise that promotes health and longevity. A pigeon appears to move all its muscles in the process of walking. Its head moves in rhythm with its feet and arms (wings). When we speedwalk, we should take care to relax and move all our muscles in a gentle rhythm that promotes circulation throughout the body (tense shoulders and neck are thus a no-no). It would be a good idea to stretch and or do some yoga or qi gung before taking our daily speedwalk.

"Sleep like a dog" refers to the ability to sleep deeply anytime, and to be able to awaken quickly with a clear head. Dogs, as we all know, sleep through the night as humans do, but they can be awakened easily and respond quickly. When a dog sleeps, they breathe deeply from their abdomen. Observe a dog and you will see that their hind legs are moving up and down. This is because they are breathing deeply, using their deep abdominal muscles. This is indeed a secret of longevity. Deep sleep combined with deep breathing rejuvenates the body every day, eliminates waste and restores vitality to all the cells of the body. Night time sleep is not the only sleep that is beneficial. Naps can be very important in a longevity program. In fact, a six year study of 23,681 men, published this year in the Archives of Internal Medicine, reported that taking a 30 minute nap three times a week reduced the risk of coronary death by a whopping 37%. Even just occasional napping brought a 12% reduction in deaths due to heart disease. Head author, Dr. Dimitrios Trichopoulos, an epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health, noted that countries where naps are common tend to have low rates of death from heart disease. Dr. Trichopoulos said that he thinks the stress relief provided by a short nap is a key factor in the reduction of deaths from cardiovascular disease, but other factors may play a role. To achieve this ability to sleep like a dog, practice slow, deep, abdominal breathing for five to fifteen minutes every night before sleeping. [information from Ron Teeguarden - I hope this is ok to post this like this].

Hi Tonya -

I was researching oil pulling and came across your post about having acne. The 2 best supplements I have ever tried for acne are L-Glutathione (500 milligrams up to 3 times a day) and vitamin B6 (ONLY get the P5P form. The other form can cause neuropathy) Try opening a capsule of vitamin B6 (P5P) and take a third of it - or half of it - and see how you do. You can take the same dosage up to 3 times a day. Definitely take the B6 with food because it can make you nauseous. Also, both vitamin B6 and L-Glutathione are potent detoxifiers of the liver so go up to the dose you need VERY slowly! L-Glutathione really helped my hair to become shinier and healthier as well. You do not need to take both of these supplements together for acne unless you feel that that works for you. I have only taken B6 alone and L-Glutathione alone - and both worked separately to completely clear my skin in record time. I suffered with severe cystic acne and was on 3 courses of Accutane so I know what it's like to suffer with acne.

Best of luck to you trying these supplements - I'm going to go post this info on the acne section of this awesome website!

EC: P5P is an acronym for Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate.

Hi Mirna, I think you will be fine with the organic sunflower oil. It's interesting to try different oils and that's what I do, but I have used sunflower oil and it was good. FYI, I use organic coconut oil mixed with a few drops of clove oil - and alternate with organic olive oil mixed with a few drops of oregano oil right now. I'll probably switch back to sunflower oil when the olive oil runs out - Good luck! It's a good practice.

Oil pulling is supposed to cure anything from angina to warts. While I can't say I've noticed any great bodily "health" benefit from oil pulling, my teeth are sparkling.

I'm a smoker and I have several crowns and an inlaid bridge, and these types of porcelain teeth do not respond to typical whitening methods at all.

The first time I tried oil pulling, I could actually see the difference after one 10-minute session and folks have commented on how much whiter my teeth look. In a week I noticed improved gum color. At my last dental check, my dentist wanted to know what toothpaste I was using, because I barely had any tartar (needless to say, he was incredulous when I said I had stopped flossing, which I have never been good at anyway). He also commented that my gums not only looked great, but had actually improved.

I simply can't stand the taste of sesame, so I mix it with either safflower, sunflower, or flavored olive oil. Teeth are then brushed with a good castille soap (soaps made with oils rather than animal fats) which does NOT taste soapy, by the way, then rinse with a little salt water. I am brushing my teeth only slightly more than normal -- twice a day for two minutes after oil pulling, and then a quick scrub with toothpaste just before I go to bed.

Other folks I know who have tried oil pulling have also remarked about the improved appearance of their teeth as well as improved oral health.

Oh....just make sure you don't spit your (now somewhat hydrogenated)oil down the sink drain or toilet or you'll be calling in the plumber or septic guy. And be careful NOT to swallow!

I live in CT. as well. I have septic and am wondering why it is harmful to septic and plumbing. You mentioned that you can not spit it(oil)in the sink or toilet or you will be calling a plumber or septic man. Why is that? I just learned about OP and have not yet tried it as I need to go get an appropriate oil. I have no real serious health issues (very minor osteo arthritus in one wrist) that I am aware of so I am just interested as a way to maintain and enhance my health. A reply regarding my septic question would be most appreciated!

EC: Nothing like ACV and baking soda to clear a clogged drain too! A tried and true remedy...

I was fortunate to find out about Dr Karach's oil pulling therapy over 16 years ago, and my objective was to improve my immune system, as a preventative. And it certainly has done so, for example, the number of colds has gone down a lot. Plus, my digestion has improved very much. Also, I can go on for more hours without feeling the need to eat.

I mostly use sesame oil, peanut oil, and sunflower oil: Once per day, one table spoon in the morning, before breakfast, 5-7 days a week. I have found that it's very important to rinse the oral cavity and tonge with baking soda/salt in warm water, and brush all of the same area - including the tongue, after applying just a little baking soda and salt on the toothbrush.

Basically, my opinion is that oil pulling is one of the very best ways to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities, and that includes detoxification. 15-20 minutes in the morning of oil pulling regularly, while taking a shower or shaving or ... - is one of the wisest things we could to, healthwise.

Why would you add salt to baking soda, it already contains alot of sodium.

Replied by Knute

Why add salt, well it's per the instructions of Dr Karach. Also, note, that we are to spit out the salt and the baking soda, so the purpose of it is not to be assimilated by the body. According to Dr Karach, ..., having spit out the liquid from the mouth, now it's time to rinse the oral cavity.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to a cup of warm, pure water. With this solution rinse your mouth a few times. Then add a little salt and baking soda directly to your toothbrush and carefully brush your teeth, gums and tongue - even under the tongue. Then gargle with the water that had some salt and baking soda added to it. Leave just a little of this water left in the cup, and add a little cool, pure water to it. The purpose is to dilute its strength.

Then tip the cup under your nose and gently "sniff up" the water to cleanse your nasal passages. Blow your nose gently...

I learned about OP from a nurse at my VA. I thought about it and searched the internet for info.
The reason I used it was to remove the bacteria and poisonous toxins I was sure were under my teeth. I also have diabetes and that causes teeth problems. When I started I was in pain from an exposed nerve.

I used 1T seaseme oil and 1T sunflower oil combined w 5 drops black walnut, 5 drops pepperment and 6 drops cinnamon oils. The peppermint for pain and the cinnamon for the antibacterial. Note: oregano as far as I know is an anti-fungal, not an anti-bacterial.
Regardless I swished my mix for 15 min, keep in mind I was in pain at the time. The first effect I noted, there was no pain even when I drew cold air through the area of my mouth. I could eat hot or cold food w no pain. Needless to say I am hooked for life. Teeth that were rising and becoming loose over the next week returned to near normal and tight in the gum. I don't know about the rest of my ailments. My teeth are much better.

A side obsevation I would like to mention is directed to the lady in India who tried OP for her wrist and arm metacarpule. I had metacarpule and the thing I knew that allowed me to over come it is this. The nevre when damaged will swell in its pathway and this is what causes pain when the joint is moved. Nerves continue to swell if they continue to bump bone which causes more pain. The wrist has a very small passage for its nerves. The swelling that causes the pain is closer to the thumb than the elbow (I mean the swell is trapped). The nerve for the thumb and forefinger extends thru the arm up to the armpit. To releive the pain from my wrist I reach up on a door frame as high as I could. Held on to the frame and dropped my body slowly down streaching my arm until it was fully extended way over my head. At first fire was running up my arm but when I reached full extention of my arm I felt a pop in my wrist and all pain vanished. Now I stretch to insure it doesn't happen again.

I hope this can help someone. It worked for me.

I started oil pulling 4 days ago and immediately noticed some differences. First I tried Safflower and I slept better then I had in years and my gums did not bleed at all when I flossed that night. Also I am noticing my teeth are whiter and that food I eat after OP tastes better. I don't get food bad breath (after you) anymore. I've been oil pulling for about 6-7 weeks. I started using Safflower Oil at night and could only swish for a few minutes. Gradually, though, I learned to relax and look forward to the time. After about 2 weeks, I started using Sesame Oil at night & Safflower Oil in the mornings. Immediately I noticed the difference in my mouth, of course, but also I found that I slept more deeply after swishing. Once I began swishing in the mornings as well, it seemed that I lost my cravings...not my appetite. I still got hungry and enjoyed meals, but I didn't wanted from pantry to refrigerator looking for something to eat between times. My concern right now, though, is that my blood pressure has gone out of sight. I mentioned the Oil Pulling to my doctor & she said she didn't see how it could correlate, but it's the only things I'm doing differently. I noticed one other poster mentioned that possibility or I may not have given it another thought. I've stopped pulling, I hope temporarily, to see if it makes a difference. I believe that it's a wonderful practice that I could do forever IF I can convince myself that it isn't causing the BP spike.

I emailed several weeks ago with a concern because my blood pressure had spiked soon after beginning my Oil Pulling. I stopped using the oil for several days with no change in my blood pressure, and then resumed the Oil Pulling soon after. I truly do not believe that the oil had anything to do with the blood pressure spike. I did, however, start back using the Apple Cider Vinegar after a couple of years of laziness, and my blood pressure has begun to level off again! I keep a jar of ACV and honey (1/2 and 1/2) and I add a couple of tablespoons to cold Apple Juice a couple of times a day. I agree with other posters, ACV and Honey and Oil Pulling are both things that I believe I can do for life!

Sounds like you need to do a cleanse, fasting can help your body heal itself. Another good option would be fresh ground common cloves, wormwood, and black walnut hull extract in combination. There are specific instructions for the latter cleanse. You can find info by searching Hulda Clark online or in the book The Cure for all Cancers by Hulda Clark it is inexpensive and invaluble. The parasite cleanse is useful for everyone but you may want to ease into it slower than described in the book it can be intense if you are heavily infested.

Everything you've said is right in keeping with the fact that high blood pressure is caused by dehydration.

Everything you put in your mouth tells your body that it's going to get some. If it's good for you, then the body prepares for the party. If it's bad for you, your body prepares for war. If it thinks it's getting something and doesn't, all hell breaks loose. This is also why artificial sweeteners are so bad for you. Your body is told, via your taste buds, that it's about to get a dose of sugar, and then it doesn't.

When you are dehydrated, your body is forced to steal water from the colon. This is an entirely different process than what takes place in a properly hydrated body and the process that would be put in motion if you drank plain water on an empty stomach. It's work. HARD work. Plus it's performed in an emergency situation (dehydration).

It takes water to do work. Everything your body does requires water. So your body has to steal water, not only to keep your decreased blood volume pumping all the way up to your brain, but it ALSO has to steal water just to be able to steal water.

Your body thinks it's getting coconut oil from which it can steal water. But it doesn't so it has to scramble back to where it was. And during all of this, it is still having to contend with your low blood volume and getting blood to your brain to keep you from fainting.

Of course your blood pressure increased. Two things happened. You tell your body it's going to get some oil AND you decreased your food intake. Both sources of water to a desperate body that is scrambling just to keep you upright.

Your body is screaming for water. And salt too, as you are probably on a salt free diet, right? Salt is #3 on the list of things a human being can't live long without. But to handle salt, it needs plain water. And to handle plain water it needs salt. Your body is about 75% water. And that's SALT water. Your body is an ocean.

As a response to salt usage by anyone, for any reason, it should always be a good SEA Salt and not the processed salts. A good quality Sea Salt can be purchased inexpensively and has many minerals/trace minerals that are necessary to process the salt in your body. I use a little sea salt when brushing my teeth along with baking soda with great results. But when I ran out of sea salt I used the very processed/bleached salt I had from years ago in my cabinet and my hands became swollen and felt puffy and retained water and forgot what is was like to use that stuff. I will never do that again and threw it out. The very inexpensive, processed salt is the kind that Can hurt you and raise your blood pressure.

Also last week my filling broke and my tooth became very painful and my gum very swollen. I looked up some home remedies to help me. I tried OP and I was absolutely AMAZED, to say the least. I used cold pressed sesame oil 2x that night and sleep so much better and within hours my tooth felt better and could bite down on it. The infection was so bad I could hardly touch the outside of my face and felt like my skin was burned. You could see the redness start to move down my neck and toward my chest and away from my gums/tooth, which kind of scared me also. I know the infection can go through your entire body but I just felt so confident with everything I had read and felt about OP I still felt the infection would be released from my body through this process. The 2nd night I sleep like I had never sleep in years. My sinuses also started to drain and my headache went away. I didn't want to go to the dentist and use alot of antibiotics, which had happened before with alot of side effects and problems also with that route. Everyone should try this for better oral/physical health. I am truly amazed and will do this always and will tell everyone. I know I will see many other benefits to come. God Bless

I have been oil pulling for 2 months 1 to 2 times daily. I have noticed several benefits: Immediately my gums stopped bleeding when flossed. My teeth felt more firmly seated in my gums.. and they are whiter. After a month, my skin on my neck and chest improved in smoothness and elasticity (chicken bumps gone). I have a few moles on my body that are shrinking! My elbows are so smooth. Improved morning breath odor. Cravings for caffeine diminished. Improved joint mobility. I had a fingernail that I had mashed in a car door 25 years ago that never fully grew back and it is almost fully reattached! Dandruff is gone after 2 months of regular OP. I use a variety of oils and switch between Virgin Coconut Oil, Cold-pressed Sesame Oil, Olive Oil, and Flax Oil.I can't wait to see further improvements on my body. Keep OP. You're worth it!

Oh MY GOD!! oh my god.. all i can say is wow!! i read about oil pulling this morning went out and got Sunflower and Safflower oil, i've done 2 sessions with the oil pulling, i must say that it did not get as foamy and white as i thought it would. it was still somewhat yellow. but my teeth are SO MUCH WHITER!! only after 2 sessions!! i have a persistant cough that never goes away no matter what i've used, and i've noticed that after each session, i'm coughing a lot more. i feel almost like a heavyness in my chest but when i do cough, i feel like i'm loosening up whatever it is that has been in my lungs that kept me with that cough. it has a funny kind of taste when i cough. i don't smoke either, well i did when i was 19 but that only lasted about 6 months (me trying to be cool) and i'm going to be 25 next month. i was really only trying it for my teeth, but now i'm going to keep doing it in hopes of clearing up my lungs and removing varicose veins. i have 2 kids now and pregnant with my 3rd so they have been a big problem for me. I will be a regular on this site i can say that much for sure, so i will keep you posted!

... I've also experimented with the baking sode for cleaning my face which I liked very much. And the oil pulling, that was weird. When I first woke I tried sesame oil for about 3 minutes before spitting it out. Went back to bed and slept very soundly for another 2 hrs then did it again. Got a bad headache and slept for another 2 hrs then did it again with olive oil. Have been headachey and sleepy ever since, and now my ears are popping and my chest feels heavy. Hope this goes away quickly but I guess it means somethings happening.

I have been oil pulling for a few weeks. The main thing I noticed is the improvement of my skin. But there were two other issues that lead me to try this. One of which is recurring yeast infections and UTI's. And, I must say these two things are doing great. But I have one more issue that I want to know about. Somewhere in this voluminous feedback, I remember reading that some things will get worse before they get better. I was wondering if this was the case with my sinuses. I have had chronic sinus problems. After a week of OP, I felt like I was coming down with a cold. Scratchy throat, lots of drainage down my throat. However I never felt achy or run down. I am still experiencing the scratchy throat occasionally, and my nasal congestion has run a very typical pattern of getting worse, then starting to improve. But all the while, there has been no sinus pressure. And at one point I got a very dark and sticky discharge from my nose (maybe something that has been there for a long time?). What do you think Ted. Oh and I have been pulling with refined sesame oil in the AM, and sunflower oil in the PM.

started oil pulling 20 dec 07. have used olive, safflower, hemp, sesame, oils. also i have had others try the pull also. so far noticed from safflower are teeth got white, gums felt firmer, sinus's cleared, allergies diminished. from hemp i got sleepy. others that tried olive it immediately raised their mood levels and depression. gout pain eased with only one olive oil pull. i also add a couple of drops of peppermint in the tablespoon to kill the germs and open the sinus's too. sesame did not get any immediate results maybe because it is toasted . all in all everyone i have told that used it have been very happy with the results. only problem is trying to explain to them how it works. so i tell them that it works like oil in an auto engine that catches dirt and when you change the oil the dirt comes out. my nephew that is a plumber in oregon relayed that to me when i was trying to tell him to do the pull he automatically understood how the process could work. in his profession he stated that plumbers work with oil and water all of the time. smart nephew i have.

oil pulling cleared my sinus's on first pull.started 12-20-07 it also cleaned the teeth, stopped me from catching a cold, seemed to tighten a loose tooth i had. i was using safflower at that time. i tried olive oil and referred that to 3 of my clients they all reported a mood improvement on the first pull. i tried hemp oil it made me go to sleep. sesame oil i tried it seemed to draw the most toxins into it. to increase the odds for good outcomes i drop about 3 drops of peppermint oil on the tablespoon then fill the rest with the oil. tomorrow i will try the safflower with oregano with oregano being about 2 drops since it is so potent. to get people to do this i had to figure out a way to explain to them how it works and while telling my nephew who is a plumber he finally explained to me how that pulling process works. he said in his trade they deal with oils and waters all day long. he said whenever oil is around it attracts dirt, grime, water, and anything in its path. so when you put it in the mouth it attracts and collects dirt and grime that floats through the body. my reasoning was like an auto engine that uses oil to filter the car engine and other parts of it. but i tend to like my nephews description best about oil absorbs anything in its path.

I've been oil pulling for about a month now. I use Sunflower and Sesame Oil. I like the Sesame (Not toasted) better, but i'm all out so Sunflower it is! My teeth are whiter, my energy is up and my head seems more clear than usual. If you haven't tried this, do.

I had immediate relief from a tooth injury from a bad dentist. I can't really explain how it works, but I also sleep better, too. I used extra virgin olive oil first and then sesame seed oil. When I first did it, the tooth pain stopped. I had a terrible taste of metal in my mouth which is one of the reasons I really knew this was pulling toxins out. I also fell very weak and run down for the first two days and then very energetic! I believe it is very helpful and don't know why I did not hear of this sooner as I am very much into the alternative health. Thank you for posting about this!

This is a first for me, I just happened to browse the net and noticed the words "oil pulling". My dentist wants to extract 11 of my teeth and I'm finding that rather drastic. I definitely have gum disease, he's going to do a cleaning next Monday and then start extracting on Wednesday. I'm not so sure about that as of yet. I just did my first 20 minute session of oil pulling with EV Olive Oil and I must say, my mouth feels refreshed and the only sore spot in it is where the hygenist placed a metal plate yesterday and it actually scratched the inside of my lip, so that, hmmm well, it feels much better now. I believe in alternative treatment due to a wonderful skin specialist, who cured me of a horrendous skin infection years ago with the use of plain water out of the tap. My problem never came back, so I'll give this oil pulling a try and I'll be back with feedback.....
