Hi,

I used the fudge recipe and wanted to know how you figured out that each square came to 1.5 teaspoons of blackstrap molasses? I would love a cookie recipe and to figure out how to know how much molasses would be in one cookie.

My father has cancer and we are trying to bring up his iron levels. So like the fudge I told him to try and eat 2 squares a day to get 1 tablespoon of the BSM.

Your help is kindly appreciated

EC: If you are using the recipe in our article:

1/2 cup molasses per the recipe = 24 teaspoons divided by 16 pieces/slices = 1.5 teaspoons per slice.

24/16 = 1.5

This fudge recipe was absolutely delicious. I used almond butter because that's all I had on hand & added a heaping spoonful of cacao powder, heated it to mix, then cooled in the refrigerator. It was so good I had to stop myself from eating the whole thing. It helps fulfill my goal of eating 3 Tbsp. of coconut oil a day & 1 Tbsp. of bsm. Tasty & nutritious!

I just tried Grandma's Molasses (unsulfured) in a cup of lemon ginger tea and loved it. It looks like coffee!

*1 cup water

*1 Lemon Ginger tea bag

*1 Teaspoon Grandma's Molasses (or any Blackstrap brand)

*1 Teaspoon honey

Boil water, pour into cup w/tea bag and stir in the molasses and honey. Cover cup and let steep for five minutes.

It was delicious! I think this could be, aside from the medicinal aspects, a terrific substitute for coffee if anyone is trying to quit.

Love Tina's recipe, I adjusted a litte and use almond butter, VCO and unsweetened baking chocolate or cocoa which I mix while heaing in a pan with BSM. I add Grade B maple syrup and/or honey to tast as well as vanilla extract, perhaps a sprinkle of cinnamon, sometime mix in dried blueberries or cranberries - then refrigerate and eat a few tablespoons a day. In addition, I have gotten used to taking it straight by the tablespoonful and find it's like taking happy pills - puts me in a great mood and leaves me with great energy all day. Also have gotten a number of comments from people suggesting I have been coloring my hair darker. Love this stuff!

Molasses Chai

I created the following recipe because I was trying to take several superfoods listed on this site every day and I couldn't stand the taste of the Blackstrap Molasses or the Turmeric. So I drink two cups of Molasses Chai a day:

Start with 8 oz of hot water. Then add one chai tea bag (a tea blend including chai spices). While the tea steeps mix in 1 Tbsp of blackstrap molasses, 1 Tbsp of honey (raw is better), 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 2 dashes of turmeric. At this point stop to stir in the turmeric to dissolve the water soluble portion. Then add some milk (about 1/4 cup). U can substitute soy/rice milk etc. Mix in the milk and remove the tea bag. Add 1 Tbsp of coconut oil (virgin is better) and mix to dissolve turmeric in CO.

Other than looking kind of funny because it will have a yellow tinted layer of oil on the top it will taste fine. Don't forget the vanilla it masks the flavor of the molasses. If it still tastes bad to you then put in less BSM, turmeric, and/or VCO until you get used to the flavor.

Blackstrap Molasses Recipe:

Black Strap Molasses BARBECUE sauce! Very simple... One part Blackstrap Molasses, One part Apple Cider Vinegar, One part mustard. Then just add any other spices/flavors to taste (like garlic, salt, pepper, honey, ect)

Yum! Easy, tasty way to eat molasses and acv.

I have tried black strap molasses in many different ways because it is not pleasant to taste. The way that I think is best is warming a cup of milk in the microwave, adding 1 tablespoon of bsm, and trying different teas. My favorite tea to use is a vanilla decaf. by Bigelow. This tastes very good. Caramel is also good. Milk tastes much better than water.

I have come up with a great way to take black strap molasses and virgin coconut oil. I make fudge out of three ingredients. I take 2 tbls BSM, 2 TBLS VCO, 2 TBLS OF a peanut butter or any nut butter preferably organic but not necessary, I have even used nutella. I melt VCO by putting it in a dish placed in sink with hot waterfor a slow melt. Add the peanut butter mix until smooth and add the BSM mix until smooth. Pour into a flat dish and refrigerate until hard. Then I cut it into one tbls size squares.I take one square in the am and one in the pm.some would want to increase the amount of intake, but this is the right amount for me. i also take the weekend off from consuming this. I make this every few days so that it is always fresh. I would love some feedback on this if you like it or if someone sees a problem with taking it this way. Hope this helps people to stomach some of the things that can be hard to take. This actually tastes all right.

I have been reading of the benefits for blackstrap molasses and although I am not repulsed by the organic taste, I do not find it quite "enjoyable". I read about another user putting the syrup in his coffee and I wanted to report back this morning after having just finished my coffee that is was TRULY enjoyable! And I mean that I really could not taste the BSM in my coffee at ALL. I know sometimes on this site, especially with the ACV, the recipes that are often touted as very tasty are not so, but this one is actually very good. It really just tastes like coffee. SO!

I fill a very large (16 ounce, it's one of those Starbuck's ones) mugs 2/3 with coffee (I buy Celestial Seasonings Organic Caramel Mocha, although I'll be switching to plain Organic after this bag)

After filling 2/3 full I add:

1 tbs BSM, but tomorrow I will try with 1.5 tbs since it went unnoticed at 1 tbs

1 tbs unsweetened cocoa powder (I use Scharffen Berger.... AWSOME)

And a full rounded teaspoon plus one half a rounded tsp of plain white sugar (yes, white sugar... don't yell... I suppose you could use honey or splenda or raw sugar, as long as it's fairly neutral and sweet)

And then I top it all off with Silk Vanilla Soymilk.

So in a nutshell:

2/3 mug of organic coffee
1 TBS BSM
1 TBS cocoa powder
1.5 ROUNDED tsp sugar of your choice
Fill to top with milk of choice

YUM! I can't wait to reap the benefits!!! I'm going to try upgrading to 1.5 tbs tomorrow!!

Oh, plus cocoa powder in hot water/milk I have recently read is going under scrutiny as possibly being more antioxidant-rich than GREEN TEA. WOO!! Add that cocoa powder and drink your health!!

I cannot stand the taste of bsm! I put it in with some milk and ice and almost threw up. Then I put 1T. in with my morning protein shake, could barely detect it. My protein shake consists of 1 scoop choc. spirutein, 1 banana, plain fat-free yogurt, ground flax seed and water (no milk).

I have just started ACV for weight loss support and blackstrap molasses in hopes of reversing advancing gray hair.

This recipe made both products more palatable for me:
2tbsp ACV
2tbsp BSM

Mix in a tall glass until the BSM is dissolved. Add a full can of club soda or mineral water - be careful, it really fizzes. Stir lightly, add ice if desired, and enjoy. Sorta sweet, sorta tangy, nicely fizzy, dark brown. It's a taste that grows on you, sort of like Coke does.

I just wanted to let readers know, that if you have trouble taking the BSM due to taste and consistency, it is really delicious in coffee. I always put a pinch of baking soda in my coffee to reduce the acid. I am a person who can eat just about anything, but I also know that if I don't care for the taste of something, I will not make a lifelong habit of taking it. I also found that you can't disguise the taste of ACV. Straight with a pinch of baking soda, and take it down in a couple of swallows, much easier than dragging it out.

In reference to the BSM chocolate milk recipe. I found that it mixes better without the ice in the blender. Add ice cubes to make colder if desired to your glass after mixing. Also I add about 1/2 tblsp of maca root powder to mine. Very good for you and gives it a malted flavor. Look up maca root on line. One of its main properties is it regulates the endrocine system which regulates your hormones. It is awesome stuff.
