[YEA]  Hey all,

I just wanted to report my experience with using ACV for the second time. I initially started in July 07 and took it for about 5 weeks and lost 18lbs. I was taking 2Tlbsp of Acv, 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with 1 Tblspn of honey. I didn't stop bcuz it wasn't working, I just got caught up with life...I graduated college, moved, had deaths n accidents in my family and started workin 2 jobs...so I just slowly got out of the habit of taking it. I wasn't watching what I ate or exercising, but I never gained the weight back. I started @ 262 and went down to 255.I stayed 255 until Jan 1, 2009 when I re dedicated myself to getting healthy.....I have changed my dosage to the new revised recipe on here...which is 2 teaspoons of acv in 16 ounces of water (2 cups)...and I sip throughout the day. I prepare a weeks worth of water bottles in advice n take it with me to work n school....So far since the 1st of Jan....I have lost 16lbs....n its only Feb 5th. I haven't worked out one day.I have a slim fast shake in the morning followed by a few gulps of acv mix...then I have salad or fruits for lunch n whatever I want for dinner...as long as u take a few sips b4 n after meals....u will lose weight. I notice my stomach slimming the most. I don't know how people can say this doesn't work. I want to take it for the rest of my life..bcuz my hair is long n shiny, I have a lot more energey(hence I'm wide awake @ 5am writing this) and I have had severe back back from some pinched nerves in my back....I used to take 6 to 10 tylenol or motrin to get through the day....and to me its amazing that I haven't taken any pain meds for my back since I started acv again.I swear by it. Try it. It has so many health benefits , that you have nothing to lose.Ill post my progress again @ the end of Feb. As of 2day I weigh 246lbs. Hope this helps....Good Luck!!

Hey All,

I'm back! My last post was on Feb 4. I was 246lbs on Feb. 5. Today I weigh 235 lbs. I feel great. I'm the last month I haven't done anything different besides I did Tae Bo 3 times.I consume between 1500 and 1800 calories per day. I got a few emails from people asking what they were doing wrong because it wasn't working for them. Honestly, I only know what I've actually done myself so if you are using another brand or taking more or less then that may be why you are having a problem. I recommend _____s. I'm still very satisfied with ACV. I even splurge every now and then and have pizza or donouts, but I have 1 slice or 1 donut and THATS IT!! In moderation.I'll check back soon. Oh yeah My waist used to mesaure 49 inches and now its 43inches.

Peace

For Isabelle from Tampa, Fla.

Hello and congratulations on that weight loss. However that "have a Slimfast drink" for breakfast caught my eye. I find that a lot of the so called health foods and drinks to help you lose weight have one or both of those excitotoxins in them which may be preventing you from losing more weight, as both monosodium glutamate (MSG) and aspartame are noted for causing weight gain. So look up those names they hide MSG under and go read the ingredients on your Slimfast drink, especially looking for any hydrolyzed plant (corn, soy or other) protein, because it contains both MSG and aspartame.

ACV for Weight Loss---WORKS. I probably should have waited a little longer b4 posting an update but I'm just so happy with the results of ACV.Today, March 27th...I weigh 228.2....so in 3 months I have lost over 30 lbs....I started @ 262 on Jan 1st. I have a new goal I'm working toward...not only would I like to lose another 45lbs, but I would like 2 wear a bikini for the first time in my life this summer.I'm goin to keep doing what I'm doing while incorporating light exercise and God willing, I will go to beach without a cover up. Isabelle,

Thank you for updating us on your progress...WE DO CARE! :)

It is wonderful that you have continued to do so well on ACV. I have tried it in the past and have only had minimal success (5 lbs the first week, none thereafter). I'm pretty desperate now, so I will try again and maybe tweak a few things using your recommendations. Thanks again and best luck on achieving your goals!!!

re: SlimFast - the reason it didnt work for me is the 18 grams of sugar in a single can of it. Check the label. I am referring to original, regular slim fast and its competing store-brand products. Check the sugar grams.

To migrate toward healthier shakes and smoothies, switch to the high protein variety, then the same-brand protein mix after that, then step by step toward making your own blender creations at home. It will be less shock in the taste this way, and you will be able to know exactly what is in it.

[YEA]  Apple Cider Vinegar: This is the best by far. I love it, and have become addicted to using it. It has now become a part of my daily routine. I take 2 tsp to an 8oz glass of water in the morning upon awaking, and then go about my business. I find the early morning remedy gives me a burst of energy, and I think we all could use that first thing in the morning..ha ha. I drink the same amount after eating a light breakfast usually about 10am-ish. I again take it after eating a light lunch. Again after a light dinner. I follow a low carb diet, and do try to watch my fats, but I am telling you...this works for me. I started following a low carb lifestyle approximately 4 years ago, prior to my use of the apple cider vinegar. I weighed 158 lbs, and I dropped 30 lbs within 4-5 months. I was able to keep it off for about 3 years, and then slowly started to regain over the past 1-2 years. I weighed 143 about a month ago, and I was at the point where I was NOT going back to 158 again. I started the apple cider vinegar. I now weigh 138, and I am full of energy...major plus!

I have read almost every post on this site and I am amazed at how much it has helped many of you. I know though, as in any other remedy out there, this may not work for everyone, but it does work for me. I am very intersted in trying the coconut oil now as well. I have elevated cholestrol, but not to the point of danger, although the high cholestrol runs in my family, as does heart disease on both sides of my family, so I figure it cannot hurt to give it a try. I am a 39 year old female, and have become very interested in living as healthy of a lifestyle as possible. I see a chiropractor twice a week as well, who is very supportive of this. I wish everyone all the luck in trying this. To those that have had hard time with it, never give up..keep the faith. A big thank you to the creators of this site. Julie-Michigan

[YEA]  Hello I was diagnosed with RA when I was about 35 years old. Over the last 11 years I've gone from walking and running to barely walking. A little over a month ago I found this site and decided to try the ACV. Now not being able to exercise I gained about 50 some pounds in 11 years. Since I've started taking ACV I have noticed that the RA has lightened up A little, But to be honest I missed a couple days of taking it, while in the hospital. Now normally, I eat pretty well and have had no problem with that. But when they weighed me at the hospital, I found that in the last month I have lost over 30 pounds without even trying. Now I have tried to loss this weight before on diets with no success. Now I'm just starting to notice that I am losing my appetite. So I'm not eating as much now. What a nice side effect to losing the pain of RA. My doctor has been after to lose weight over the last couple of years. Can't wait to see his face and tell him what I've been doing. I think he's gonna be shocked, I know that I was. Thanks Kurt

Hi Ishika: I do not know what to tell you. Some people say it does not work for them. Read what other people have to say about it on this page, because it works for me and my drother. I did not see the loss in a week, but I do not remember having gain weight. May be someone else can help you on this page.

[YEA]  Raw organic apple cider vinegar has helped me so much, I feel like a vinegar evangelist!! I tell everyone about it. I heard about it in 2003 after having been in the hospital for chronic broncitis three times that year and had develped asthma, was on a nebulizer and inhalers. I have always had allergies.

After I started the raw vinegar mixed with raw honey - I have been drinking 1/4 cup mixed with a glass of water at night.- I have lost 55 pounds, which I learned was due to the vinegar daily - have not had bronchitis or asthma and have quit taking acid reflex meds, lung meds, singular for asthma, don't need the nebulizer or inhalers. I also quit taking nexium and just learned it is also good for leg cramps. I am a much healther person. I take mine at night, but think I will try taking smaller doses three times a day. Even my lung doctor agreed ACV was good for your lungs. He said his Mother raised them on it for sore throats and colds. Too bad the drug companies don't agree. Thanks for your site

[YEA]  I used apple cider vinegar for about 3 months, yes it does help in weight loss, I lost 45 pounds. Did excercise also. Only serious negative thing was that my blood work showed that I was seriously anemic, so I stopped the vinegar and now I am fine. I guess it washed nutrients as well.

Is it okay to take ACV if your anemic? My red cell counts are low and I really need and want to lose lbs.

[NAY]   I have used ACV every single day for about a year now for aches, pains and lowering my blood pressure. I haven't lost an ounce (unfortunately) during all the time I've taken it. I believe its weight-loss claims are 'greatly exaggerated'.

In fact, one week when I skipped two days, I lost 2 lbs! It made me wonder if it has the opposite effect on me.

Kelly from Cambridge, Ma - Kelly, I don't even think the fantastic apple cider vinegar will help our weight (and other health issues) unless our diets change in ways also. So many people these days consume what they consider 'food' and it comes out of a box, goes into the microwave etc when we all know this highly processed, high sodium 'food' is not really FOOD! You didn't say what you eat or go into any details but could this be the problem? Are you consuming plenty of fresh fruit/veges and drinking 2L water each day or eating processed goods?

Hi Cat - Obviously, I wouldn't expect ACV or any other product to help me lose weight on its own. That's just common sense.

I actually eat very clean - no sugar and no processed foods. I put about a half teaspoon of raw honey in my morning coffee, and that's it for the day in terms of anything sweet. And, I was drinking tons of water every day a decade before it became popular to do so.

I have always struggled with my weight (10 pounds, give or take). I am the type who gains five pounds just walking by a bakery. It seems it's a genetic-type curse. I had my thyroid checked years ago. Everything was normal, according to my MD. And, I certainly don't live a sedentary life either. I am always on the go.

My point in posting to the previous thread, was that I found it interesting that when I didn't take the ACV for a couple of days, I lost a bit of weight. (Keeping in mind that I'd taken the ACV every day for a year or more.)

I'll continue with the ACV for its other benefits, but my posture concerning its weight loss properties remain - I feel they are 'greatly exaggerated'. But then, as with many things, what works for one may not work the same for another.

[YEA]  First let me say that all apple cider vinegars are not equal!! The only one that "heals" is: ORGANIC RAW-UNFILTERED APPLE CIDER VINEGAR WITH "THE MOTHER"

This might sound rather strange.... But this is the real stuff... Trust me! You can buy it at a natural food store or at hip supermarket. I have found it at chain stores as well.

Having grown up in Woodstock N.Y. in the 1960's, I was part of the pack that used this to cure everything from sour stomach to losing weight to getting rid of yeast over growth as well as healing your gums and as a healthy hair rinse. It is also great for dog and cat hot spots and other pet skin problems. Plus... it will actually benefit them if they lick it!

Janet, I have read a lot on this site about ACV with the mother and if I understand well "the mother" is something that floats in the vinegar. Well, here in Europe I have never, ever seen it anywhere and I travel to quite a few countries. ACV is sold in the supermarkets, pharmacies, health food stores but... Nowhere have I have seen any "mother". So, what are we to do? I just use organic one as it is either that or else the regular one, I assure you! Is the "mother" so beneficial... No idea as I have never seen it but when you don't have the choice either you ditch the stuff either you make do with the second best! Why we have no "mother"? My guess is as good as anyone else's, maybe here they think that the "mother" it is something highly dangerous.... That is usually now the reason to ban something!

Fransisca from Zug, Switzerland, "The Mother" is referring to [organic] Apple Cidar Vinegar, it's raw and unfiltered which is why you have the floaters. I know it's available on amazon and a million other online shops, I'd send you a link but I'm in the U. S. and doubt that any sites I use would be helpful to you. I'm not sure if it's available in Europe if not just look for the same parameters: organic, raw, unfiltered and it should do the trick.

@ Francisca from Zug - I believe "mother" refers to the vinegar being "trub."

[YEA]  FLAVOR, WEIGHT LOSS, ENERGY, PAIN RELIEF.

I never thought I could get used to the flavor of apple cider vinegar (GAG!! ). So I got a small juice glass and put 1 teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and fill it to the top with organic apple juice or apple cider. Funny thing happened. After a week I noticed the flavor not bothering me so much. I use a shot glass instead of a juice glass now and the flavor doesn't bother me at all.. In fact I kind of like it (and my daughter used to laugh at me gagging over it). You DO become accustomed to the flavor. In fact it just tastes like apple juice with a "bite" now.

I also have noticed another funny thing. I had a really bad night the other night during a thunder lightening storm and only got an hour's sleep. I woke up expecting to be exhausted all day. At midnight that night I realized had a super high energy day, got tons of stuff done and I STILL wasn't tired! I attribute my high energy (even with no sleep) to the ACV. It gives amazing energy!

And for weight loss: I was losing weight with it when I took it at LEAST 20 minutes BEFORE meals. When I started taking it AFTER meals, my weight loss stopped, I even gained a pound. So whoever wrote that if you take it BEFORE you LOSE, AFTER you GAIN.. Was absolutely right. I take my first shot with juice before I take my shower. Then by the time breakfast is ready, it's been 30 minutes or longer that it has had to go to work on the fat stores. And watch how your clothes fit, not the scale! I lost a full size, but only 4 pounds in the first week. If you watch the scale, you'll be disappointed... Fat doesn't weigh much, and you burn it off with vinegar.

My last benefit I noticed was my joints don't ache! I have rheumatoid and this stuff is just amazing. Flexibility and pain reduction. This is truly a miracle when you consider it is less than $5 a bottle and it lasts a long time. _____'s is the only vinegar I buy. Be sure to shake well before drinking and DO NOT refrigerate. It will keep for YEARS in the cupboard.

I'm just trying to shed some fat from my belly. My solution and you might think I'm crazy, I drink it once a day: about 2 ounces of Apple Cider Vinegar I a 32 oz. Cup

I add one package of grape koolaid mix- 4 artificial sweetners, fill the cup almost to to top with cold water and add ice. You taste the grape coolaid with a bite from the Apple Cider Vinegar but you can drink it like regular koolaid.

I'd try to dilute the ACV with just water (2tbs in 8oz of water x3 a day). Adding cool-aid to me sounds counterproductive with all those empty calories. If anything try to add some honey to the concoction, but try not to go over 2 tbs. The key for weightloss for me is frequent meals high in protein low in carbs w/ lots of greens and water in between.

Have you heard of Stevia? If you search Amazon you can usually find flavored Stevia, I am sure they would have grape (especially since they have flavors like root beer). It is healthier artificial sweetner, thus without all the bad press. I currently have cherry flavor and vanilla flavor; the former I add to lemonade, and the latter I add to coffee and some tea.

[SIDE EFFECTS]  I've began drinking the ACV in water just sipping it throughout the day as instructed on this site. Questions; Is there a diet plan to go with this? How does this work to lose weight? AND, gas..... I've had terrible gas since drinking this! Is this normal and how to prevent it?

[YEA]  Hello! I ran across ACV for weight loss last year when I was desperately trying to lose weight before my trip overseas. I read tons of testimonials and went right out the next day and bought the ACV. A little about my weight: I'm female, 23, and in decent shape. I am 5'7'' and at the time weighed in at about 160. I have never been obese but am VERY curvy and had a spare tire I wasn't proud of. I was pretty active, but a total slouch at an exercise routine (usually I just walk places, or bike)

Either way, I was a teacher, and I showed my friend at work this site. We went on the ACV together. We first tried the 2 teaspoons in 16 oz cold water (I drink NOTHING but water!!! ) but found it to be a little too gross. Since we're both fans of tea, we tried around 2 teaspoons in 8oz, with a bit of honey, served warm. Delicious! Tastes a bit like warm apple cider. The pounds started dropping off. It wasn't that I tried, but I was subconsciously eating less, of healthier foods. I found more energy as well! I lost eleven pounds the first month!!! One of my favorite stories is the "candy" story I like to tell skeptics of ACV. I am a HUGE fan of candy and eat it waaaay too much. During my "slim down for Sweden" I used to eat my favorite candy (won't mention the name but it's our favorite peanut butter mixed with chocolate cup! ) all the time. I had a teacher friend who would give me this treat in exchange for watching her class--I could never turn them down. Well, one morning I hadn't eaten breakfast yet (while on the ACV breakfast was always something healthy; fruit or an egg, etc) this morning I didn't eat anything but was sipping my usual cup of ACV. When the friend brought me my chocolate and peanut butter cup, I gobbled it down. And immediately felt barf. I couldn't believe it. After the "flushing" effect of the ACV, the sugars, the fats, the oils... Everything in that candy suddenly had a whole new taste.

ACV is amazing for awakening your senses to what you put in your body. I usually ate both "cups" in less than a second, but I found myself unable to finish the first one, and gave the second one to one of the kids in class. By the time Sweden hit, I had lost 20 pounds and looked SEXY!!! I wrote this testimonial to re-motivate myself (slacked off this year on ACV) and to hopefully motivate others. This stuff really does work! And you don't even have to be patient to see results, just give it like a week and you'll feel clothes fitting better. Oh, and I am an extremist and overdo EVERYTHING, so I've since doubled the amount of ACV I use. Sometimes I pour a nice tall glass of OJ and put about 2 tablespoons in that. The acid of the OJ completely obliterates the taste of ACV. And boy, the combo REALLY gives you an energy jolt in the morning. Try it as an alternative to coffee or an energy drink! And good luck in everyone's efforts. :)

I remember my mother telling this hint to me when I was younger, now that I am in my middle years, I really am happy that I read your article. I will be trying this tea type idea cause I had a problem with the 2 tsp in 16 oz of water too. Hope it works. I will let you know in about 2 weeks. Thanks for the encouragement.

[NAY]   I just wanted to be clear as I want to try this. Do you put 2 tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar in a 8oz tea, like green tea or 8oz of water and drink it like a tea? I was doing the cold or room temp acv/water mix as intructed on the b----- Apple Cider Vinegar bottle, but apart from burning and feeling nasty I saw no health benefits at all. I also started drinking tea throughout the day and this alone makes me urinate often. I wonder if combining my green tea with 2tsp of Apple Cider Vinegar would be beneficial. Hope you reply.

What worked for me and weight loss with ACV is this...

mixing 2 tablespoons ACV with mother in 8 oz of lukewarm water and sipping this through the day in between meals.

It helps you stay/feel full so you eat less during meals and hence lose weight.

It also is very good for your gut with bacteria, etc so it is beneficial in losing weight.

Additionally, I stopped eating rice, potatoes and friend foods. Stuck mainly to veggies and lean protein with occasional piece of fruit twice weekly.

You must change your eating habits to lose weight with ACV and incorporate some form of walking 45 mins daily to get the body moving.

This is in reply to "Ank" from Virginia regarding ACV & weight loss. As with any new supplement, the results will vary from individual to individual. In the case of ACV it is a slow process that changes your metabolism which encourages weight loss. Typically one would expect to yield results in 3 - 6 months for weight loss. It is the long term benefits that you should desire by using ACV, you know that stuff you dont actually see. If you are looking for a quick 7 - 10lb drop then ACV is probably not your best choice. Best of luck to you.

I've been reading for almost 3 months n at last started taking ACV (ORGANIC WITH MOTHER) 2 tsp daily to begin with then 2 weeks ago started cooking with Virgin Coconut Oil (ORGANIC) NOW I'VE added Blackstrap Molasses (organic unsulphered). I feel nice small changes like no muscle/joint pains less acidity mood is cheerful, most of the time I feel fresh n alert, but I seem to be more constipated, n gaining weight, looks like as if I have swelling especially on my face n neck. Please advice if I need to do anything differently. Once again THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.

Try taking the BSM first thing in the morning. That usually helps ease constipation. Or else try drinking more water, eating fruit first thing in the morning or a cup of tea or warm water. If nothing helps try a few prunes every day. I suppose that after a while your body will get used to the new diet. By the way, I never take ACV for a long time in a row. I take it for a while, then I stop as I have read about people on this site who had health problems.

Hi Meenu,

Each teaspoon of coconut oil has a whopping 130 calories, so that might be the cause of your weight gain.

You don't get fat from coconut oil..... If you want to know more about it please read one of Barry Groves books, for example! Coconut oil is one of the best fats you can take.

There is something about the coconut oil that does NOT cause a person to gain weight. I don't know if it is because it helps the thyroid, or if it is because it is a medium chain fatty acid, or what, but I have been taking about 3 TABLESPOONS (not teaspoons mind you) of it every single day for over a year now, and I have not gained a pound. I have not lost weight, like other people, but I have not gained either. I am 5'6" (49 yo woman) and weigh 150-155 depending on water weight. Never up or down since starting.... And nothing else has changed calorically. If you will google VCO (virgin coconut oil) you can read the specs on it, and why some people have lost weight using it. I just feel better since I started taking it, and my eyelashes are amazing. When I put mascara on now it is total overkill. Lol.

One more thing to look into for joint pain is Boron. Google it. It has helped me in a BIG way with joint pain. It is a very inexpensive mineral - I started taking it about a month ago, and am VERY impressed with how my hand joints are doing. I will continue using it, Magnesium, and vitamin D for the rest of my life - along with ACV and VCO! Best to you!

Apples, along with many other fruits, vegetables, and nuts, are a great source of Boron. Here's an informative table:

Wow. That's not good. Now I'm 2 day on a ACV.. Will see what happend. I also wanted to mention, that this site is a tremendous help, so humbly thank you the founder!!! You are the Best!
