This is one of my favorite ways to drink ACV.

  • 2-3 Oolong Tea bags
  • 2-3 flavored teabags (Peach, berry, mango, etc)
  • I steep these tea bags in about two cups of hot water until cool and then remove the bags.
  • To the tea I add 3-5 Tablespoons of ACV, A shake or two of cinnamon, a shake or two of ground ginger. I take this concentrate and add about 6 cups of water. As I pour a glass, I add sweetener (Like stevia, maple syrup, honey or agave ~ just whatever I have around) It sure tastes good. There are many recipes on the internet for something similar called "Good Girl MoonShine." I hope this helped.

I can attest that ACV suppresses ones appetite even when it is added to water. I've been adding 1 tbsp of B**** to 8 oz of ice water for a few days now, and my desire to eat has nearly left me completely. There's no discomfort at all, simply no sense that I'm hungry.

So, no need to take ACV straight, especially if you don't like the taste of it. Adding a couple of teaspoons or a tablespoon to 8 oz of water will do the trick. Personally, I LOVE it in ice cold water, but I've spoken with others who prefer warm water. Either will work just as well as the other.

Enjoy...! ;-)

So while this may be true for some, not all others.

I tried low carb many times, but my BS drops too much, I need high protein with a tiny bit of carb mixed, as far as the avc, its working for me, not dieting at all, in fact I go over board on the carbs at times, but in MY case, it turned out I was making too my Aldosterone, the water retention hormone during peri menopause, my adrenals were stressed out and so my cortisol went through the roof.

The excess cortisol was raising my aldosterone, I was taking the Apple Cider Vinegar for acid reflux (works great by the way)

And so for 6 years I suffered from water retention, I tried EVEY THING! But till recently, only the Apple Cider Vinegar worked, I could NOT figure out WHY, so me, being the Google queen, set out to FIND OUT WHY! it turns out the Acetic Acid (in acv) LOWERS Aldosterone.

If I stop taking it, the water weight creeps back, I must continue to take until menopause finally occurs and things balance out. ( I hope it does)

And for the record, I did see and Endocrinologist and had things tested. The Aldo was high, but not from a Tumor anywhere, and the Cortisol was high but not from a diseased Adrenal Gland issue, the Insulin was high, but not from a Pancreas problem....all this is from Peri-Menopause!!

Who freeeaking knew???? I went into "The Change" very stressed out and that is not good for the Adrenals, they have their own job, and when it is time to help out during menopause it would be nice if they were stronger.

I had gained 30 pounds in 6 months from the High Cortisol/Aldo/Insulin.

Since the acv, it is going down, down down, almost 10 pounds already in less than a month. I do not diet, I do not exercise, I only keep busy.

Thank you for sharing your research. I too did low carb, but was so lethargic and had a continuous feeling of starvation even though I was not hungry. It was a strange feeling. Too low BS.

I changed to a Keto diet. Steady weight loss, up to a point but stalled after 3 weeks. I also had terrible break outs of cystic acne.

I reincorporated some fibre grain carb, and I feel steady again. Cystic acne diminished but am wondering what to do now to get rid of the excess fat.

Will try ACV now and see how that goes.

Anne, The 5:2 fast diet does work. BBC's Dr Michael Mosley popularised it in the UK and Australia. Books available; also, 5:2 Facebook pages which I find inspirational. It recommends ladies eat 500 calories on two non-consecutive days of the week. Eat normally the other 5 days. People find that when the goal weight is achieved, doing the fast only one day a week maintains the weight.

For the pre menopausal women, I do know of something you can get over the counter for the problems associated with menopause, I was only 29 years old when I had to have a hysterectomy, and my hormones went south fast, I didn't get hormone replacement therapy, and after a year my Dr finally tested my levels, and suggested a vitamin DHEA to help balance out my hormones, and it works, but I just like you, have packed on the LBS, almost 70 lbs and nothing has worked, I'm now going to start the ACV to see it will work for me.

Some while ago I started taking organic ACV for its health benefits. Some six months later I had lost 28 lbs, and it was only much later that I made the connection. I was not even thinking about losing weight - I have an underactive thyroid and understood that you have to live with extra weight - but it just steadily fell off.

I am currently wondering whether I should have posted this, I am now 12 lbs underweight and my doctor is sending me for tests. So I am sorry if perhaps I have misled people.

Having said that, a lot of people do swear by it for weight loss so I still feel it is well worth a go.

Mithila, take say 1 tbs (or less to start) in a glass of water, you can add a teaspoon of honey and use warm water if you don't like the taste. Also look through the site for other people's ideas.

I have been faithfully drinking 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in a small glass of water about 20 minutes before eating lunch and dinner since Feb 1st, 2013. I have lost 12 pounds and my skin looks great. No breakouts on my chin like I typically get. I have tried to eat less carbs too, so that is helping but the apple cider vinegar is: a) helping me digest my food better and b) helping my metabolism. Yea!!

Your weight loss is a result of the carb-cutting, not the apple cider vinegar.

ACV has no effect on weight loss whatsoever. Believe me, I tried it long enough to know--months. Four of my friends did, too. None of us lost weight with just the ACV alone.

What often happens is, people hear that ACV might help with weight loss, so they begin the ACV but also begin watching what they eat more than usual and that's what causes the weight loss, which then gets credited to ACV, when it's not the ACV.

This is exactly what happened in your case, too. You started ACV and you started watching your carbs, hence the weight loss.

Those carbs will get 'ya every time. ;-) When I'm careful with them, I lose weight, too.

I'm not knocking ACV. I take it every day to help manage my high blood pressure. It's great stuff that serves a lot of purposes. Unfortunately, weight loss isn't one of them.

That is simply not true. It does work for weight loss and I have used it long enough and stopped using it and got the weight back up and had the same eating and workout routine... And that time could not lose the weight. You are doing something wrong to counter the effects of the acv, but to say it doesn't do anything for weight loss is just naive.

I disagree about the weightloss benefits as well Jayne. I have been working with a personal trainer 2X per week for strength training and I also do a full cardio workout 3X per week, plus I'm on a strict caloric intake diet for about a year. I dropped about 20 lbs on the diet with no exercise. The diet does include carbs, with are important as well as fats that are good. Since the exercise began, I've not lost any weight nor inches. It has been 2 months. I still do it because I want to tone up. I do not overeat, I do not eat junk food and I drink at least 10 cups of water per day. I'm very healthy. I started taking Garcina Cambogia as I thought this would help me lose that last 20 lbs. I took it for 3 months and absolutely nothing. Not one inch nor 1 lb difference. To boost my metabolism, I started taking cayenne pepper pills. Not sure if that has any effect as it's only been a couple of weeks. I started taking AVC about 4 months ago and my food cravings went down, my weight is shed more easily, about 8 lbs so far. I've lost 3 inches in my waist and 2 inches in my glutes so far. I drink an organic brand that has the "mother" and put 2 teaspoons in 16 oz warm water, sipping it throughout the day thru a straw. So carbs may be an important factor about losing weight, but your body needs carbs too. ACV is the ONLY thing that has helped my weight loss in the last several months. I've been told it may my hormones that are blocking everything else, including all the exercise. Here's to your health and may you see the benefits of ACV soon, regardless of weight loss, it has lots of other health benefits.

FOLKS NOT SORRY TO TELL YA'll, but I must agree with JANE, CA. I worked with this ACV advice and have to tell ya that I actually GAINED more wt while on the ACV. It may be that ACV works different for everyone. BUT must say I GAINED more and even got into a depression. I have read the benefits of vinegar just like in the good ole days they used it even in pipes to clean and shine and even drain which does seem what it does for us. However, it seems as though it must be a daily act for months and months; possibly for the rest of your life. It further seems like sugar found in whatever it is in; is like a drug addiction and even worse-CANT STOP! "ACV has no effect on weight loss whatsoever". Completely untrue. ACV will blunt your insulin response by 20-30%. This means that the energy from the food you eat will be absorbed at a more gradual rate, instead of all at once. Google "ACV and insulin sensitivity". ACV lowers your blood glucose and insulin if you take it before/after a meal, which means you store less energy, which means (assuming you maintain the same caloric intake) you will lose weight.

Just wanted to let everyone know ACV works!!! I have lost 5lbs in 5 days:-) NO EXCERCISE!!! I take 2 tsp (straight up without honey or sweetener) mixed with 16 ounces of water (3 of these concoctions) per day. I drink it with a straw then take a sip of straight water to get vinegar off of my teeth as not to destroy my enamel. Sip don't chug! I think this is extremely important. I dropped a bunch of weight with the mucusless diet a few years ago, I also used ACV at the same (didn't sip but drank 3 mugs a day water/ACV) but I don't remember my appetite as decreased as it is now. I also used to put honey in it and make sort of an apple cider out of it but am now used to the taste this is way easier just putting a splash in my water. But do whatever it takes to get this down. -I notice my acne is clearing up,

-I used to be a sugar craving monster and no longer am. In fact they don't even taste that good to me anymore as one reviewer already stated. The major key to ACV working is to sip not chug. I sometimes wonder if this is why it might not work for some people since I noticed a big difference taking it both ways. -Also if you feel down in the dumps take a shot est 3 tsp worth it made me feel ready to clean my house. My aunt just had a gastric bypass surgery. I only wish she would have found ACV first. I have much more energy than I used to.

I just have question for you. You said you put two tablespoon in 16 ounces of water and sip. so do you drink this liquid three times or each single time two tablespoon with 16 ounces of water you drink.

So for my understanding 6 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 48 ounces of water whole day (three times). Please clarify two tablespoon only one time or per whole day you onlly drink two table spoon of apple cider vinegar. I am trying hard to lose weight please help me.

Hi Mahi, it's teaspoons not tablespoons. By the end of the day I have consumed 48 ounces of water with 6 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar mixed in. So in the morning I fill up a glass of 16 ounces of water that has 2 teaspoons of ACV in it. I sip on it and it is usually gone by lunch time so I make another glass up and make sure I sip on that until about dinner and make up another glass. I also have a big glass of water next to my ACV water mix and sip that right after I sip the ACV so I get the vinegar off of my teeth. I've introduced kelp capsules now too as I've heard that can reset your thyroid. I dropped 20 lbs in two months by doing the mucusless diet in the past. (a lot more strict and I walked 3 miles a day and gave up alcohol) Maybe research that too so you can get into the mindset of what is good food. I wish you the best of luck! Even if ACV didn't help me lose weight I would still take it based on how good it makes me feel. I'm also going to add cayenne pepper tinctured to my diet as well. As I have heard that raises your metabolism.

I had been feeling unattractive and tried every diet pill you can think of. I started to google around for natural methods of losing weight and stumbled on this site. That was back in March 2012 and it is now June 27 2012. Anyhow I started at 219 and I am now 192 which is a 27 lb drop with NO EXERCISE!!!

What I decided to do was 2 tsp of vinegar with 20 oz of water when I wake up and right before I eat dinner as well. I didnt change the way I eat, I dont exercise at all, and as a matter of fact ive been eating more fatty foods because the weight has been dropping like a miracle so I feel like I can pig out more. I wonder if I really eat right what will happen. I will report back when I decide to eat right but I am enjoying my mcdonalds, pizza hut, cinnabuns and all that stuff as the weight falls. I want to thank you for this miracle!! I use the apple cider vinegar from whole foods but you can use whatever u want... Also it was giving me a funny odor out of my skin so I bought some Perineal Cleanser Spray from walmart for 1.98 and ur supposed to spray it on but I just poured it in my body wash and shook it up and if some of you are getting a funny skin odor from using this stuff try that spray, im serious it works. Ok thank you im outta here!

When I first started using ACV back in 08' I lost 5 solid pounds. And that is where I sat for 3 years, jumping around 175-180 until this Oct, 2011.

I knew what my problem was: I was trying to lose 60 pounds without giving up the junk food I CRAVED. I was also eating everything I was allergic to that kept my weight on : nuts, milk, wheat, corn, oats, diet sodas, excess salt, sugar). The ACV just couldn't do it alone. Then suddenly, the coconut oil tablespoons I was ingesting on a daily basis (even knowing that I'm allergic to nuts) began giving me heart aches & high BP, a sure sign of allergic inflamation.

Sooooo... I did 5 important things this October and lost 19 lbs in 2 months.

1st: I read a book about wheat bellies and became inspired!

2nd: I stopped eating everything from the above list.

3rd: I cut my ACV down to 2 tsp morning and bedtime.

4th: I limited my daily diet to 9oz meat, loads of veggies, & 1 fruit (I have type-2 diabetes).

5th: I lightly exercise 15-20 minutes (stretching, exercycle, light weights) 5-6 days a week.

How do I look? WAY SMALLER, HEALTHIER & YOUNGER. Do I miss junk food? You betcha! Do I cheat? 1 meal with dessert, once a month and we don't take home the doggy bag. My mind is clearer and so is my skin. My waking blood sugar vascillates between 89-101. My blood pressure is 125/69 with a pulse of 58. Those numbers are fantastic! My sugar reading alone was once riding as high as 300.

Also, I only use the coconut oil on my skin now; I've come to the conclusion that digesting it just doesn't fit my genetics. I believe that there comes a time when we all must decide - healthy or not. Not is the worst way to go because being unhealthy, unfit, and fat can drag you down from how you feel about yourself when you just go to try on cute clothes, to how your brain thinks, to how you move, to being the worst example for your kid/s. So, my buddy (hubby) and I are DOING IT! (You should see him! ) The weight is finally, after 16 years (56 now), coming off. There's ways to go BUT, I'm staying on course because I'm so excited about what I see in the mirror and what I feel is going on inside of me.... POSITIVE LOOOOOVE! Peace out to all and Happy New Year! ....CAT

I am 5'11", about 80-90 pounds overweight, hypothyroid, and currently trying to do many of your same things. Because of my size, I am supposed to drink 130 oz. Of water each day. It is easy to get the first 4-16 oz bottles down, but the second four bottles are a lot harder. Since finding out that EC is recommending drinking the ACV mixed w/water throughout the day, I need to switch my doses from morning and evening to sipping slowly throughout the day. Because of work and commute being 12 hours, getting the walking in is an effort, but anything in life worthwhile will be a bit of effort. Just wanted to say thx. And thank you EC for hosting this site for everyone. It is a wonderful place to come in very confusing (meidcally) times of our life.

The first couple of months on ACV I did not notice anything until I was filled in on the new way of taking ACV. First, make sure that you are taking raw, organic, unfiltered apple cider vinegar with Mother. It's gotta have all that stuff right on the label. Then, get a shot glass (regular 2 ounce size) and fill it with ACV. Pour that into a regular drinking glass. Then fill the glass with apple juice(my preference), or cranberry juice, or grape juice. No acidic juices like orange juice, that gives heartburn. Next drink it as slow or as fast as you like. Do that every morning, seven days a week. I have been doing it for two years and I feel like a rocket all day long. It took about two weeks for the loading phase to finish and about another month for my muscles to catch up with the ACV to where my blood pressure dropped and so did my weight. Ten pounds a month I lost, but I still ate at McD's. I started at 380 and two years later am at 300. I recommend drinking it through a straw to save the enamel on your teeth from the acidity. But, I drank it without a straw the first year with no ill effect. If a full shot glass gives you heart burn then start with a half of a shotglass and move up to a full one in a couple weeks. Remember, it's gotta be 1. Raw 2. Organic 3. Unfiltered 4. With Mother. None of this pasteurized or filtered or clear nonesense, that kills all the important enzymes. The ACV should look cloudy with weird stringy chunks floating in it. Ok, hope that helps. Scott Harriger, Pacific Grove, CA

Last summer, I was using apple cider vinegar on a daily basis to treat some persistant heartburn. I noticed that I lost about ten pounds over the course of six weeks. The change was so noticeable that my mother (who is usually quite critical of my weight) expressed concern that I had become too thin! By the winter, though, I had stopped taking the apple cider vineger, and the weight had all come back. It never occurred to me that my weight loss had been due to the vinegar. Recently, I came across your website and decided to start drinking vinegar on a regular basis for overall health. It's been two weeks, and I'm already down four pounds! I've noticed that I seem to crave "bad" foods much less, and I am satisfied with smaller portions. Maybe that's due to the apple cider vinegar, or maybe it's just psycho-somatic. Either way, I'm going to keep it up!

Here's how I take it: I mix two teaspoons of raw, organic apple cider vinegar into 1/4 cup of filtered water and add a teaspoon of agave. Sometimes I will heat the water slightly to make it taste like a hot toddy. Other times I will just drink the mixture cold, which tastes a lot like lemonade. I have tried diluting the vinegar in eight ounces of water, but I actually enjoy the taste more when I use less water. I usually drink the mixture a couple hours after dinner, as a nightcap. I imagine that it is "sealing" my body for the night and doing all its magical work while I sleep.
