At Earth Clinic we have sought to bring individuals the surest remedies and the most natural cures. Now we would like to bring those individuals together into a circle of prayer and meditation—to hold our ailing planet in our hands and work to heal it and the human community inhabiting it wherever it suffers, through the proven power of collective prayer and meditation.
We are determined to put together the largest prayer/meditation group on the planet to tackle some of its most pressing issues. This is an all-inclusive prayer and meditation group with Jewish, Catholic, Christian, Buddhist, Native American, Hindu, Muslim, Spiritual But Not Religious, and all variety of other members longing to pray for the planet. Many members of our group are healers who have worked with prayer and meditation for years.
As of March 1, 2013, we have over 5,250 members participating in this monthly group!
Why We Call It An Experimental Prayer Group
All of us who have been involved in prayer and meditation groups within our religious or spiritual communities have witnessed how powerful group prayer or intention can be. Our group will be unique in that we will be tracking via various news agencies from around the world how quickly (or slowly) the group is able to attain results and trying to find ways to improve the next session. In that way, we follow up a little faith with a bit of science—neither one seems to work perfectly alone, but together we hope the two can make the world, in every way, a healthier place.
Here's how we'd like the prayer group to best utilize its time and energy:
1. As a group we choose a pressing matter in the world that we can monitor via news agencies.
2. The first Sunday of each month (except for U.S.A. holiday weekends which fall on the first Sunday of the month, in which case we will do the session the following Sunday), we ask each member to each spend at least 10 minutes meditating/praying on the subject matter at hand. We also send out additional prayer topics during the month for world crises like the Haiti earthquake.
3. We then look for results in the media.
Example: A total of 1,323 people participated on Sunday, July 8th 2007. Our goal was to _________. Each participant spent a minimum of 10 minutes focusing on _______. On Wed, August 21st, the BBC reported that _______ happened.
MARCH 3, 2013:
PRAYERS FOR THE PROTECTION OF ELEPHANTS WORLDWIDE
The illegal trade in ivory each year results in tens of thousands of African elephants being slaughtered. The violence extends beyond these endangered animals and now also threatens local eco-guards who are murdered by poachers caught in the act. The brutal and senseless killing of these animals and those who try to protect them is driven by the rising value of ivory and the desire, especially throughout Asia, for the trinkets and amulets it is used to produce. With the sale of ivory unregulated in numerous countries such as Thailand and Malaysia they become ready conduits for the smuggling of ivory from African elephants. The increase in demand has seen a steady climb in the numbers of elephants senselessly killed each year such that they may soon become an endangered species. To prevent the violence from continuing countries must come together to agree to ban the sale and trade of ivory or ivory products.
This Sunday Earth Clinic asks its many members to pray for the protection of these magnificent animals. In our prayers let us ask that leaders of nations around the world take a stand against ivory trading and enact legislation that will ultimately result in the protection of all elephants. May those who seek to protect the elephants and other wildlife be kept safe from harm in the dangerous work they do. Additionally, may those who would try to profit from this illegal activity find a deeper appreciation for the precious nature of this species that instead allows them to live in peace in their natural habitats.
